holahola78: Please ferdimako. I asked a question here earlier but no one seems to answer or maybe it was omitted.Hi. You have to meet all DIAC requirements as if both of you will be departing at the same. Once your visas are approved, you'd decide to leave any time before the expiry of your arrival date. If you don't meet the joint requirements now, he may have to apply in his own capacity and it may be more rigorous and expensive. All the best. |
bevybay: I contacted the engineers australia and this was the reply they sent me along application form.Hi. Exemption from IELTS is a good one for you. It will save you time in sending your application to EA. In any case, writing the CDR is the major task here. Give it your best shot. Let me know if you need help. Nonetheless, you have to write IELTS for your PR visa application to DIAC. GT will do and it's easier. Give it also your best shot. 6.0 = 0 points; 7.0 = 10 points; 8.0 = 20 points. All the best. |
snowburn: Thanx for your response. my student visa is on the way, but i wanna process this PR as well cos its gonna give me a soft landing somewhat or should i say enhance my hitting the ground running (i just downloaded a vacation job booklet and most of the opportunities are for PR/Citizens). . .I can can make 65 points if i score 7 in IELTS or 75 points if i score 8 In IELTS. . . i am gathering all my documents for the skills assessment, did you send them your trancript yourself or did you have your institution send it to them directly cos i saw smthing like that on the VETASSESS webpage for nigeriansHi. Going by your achievable scores, I think you stand a very good stead with the PR thingy. Take it seriously. With regards to the transcript, in my own case, I had a copy with me then which I notarised and sent to Engineers Australia. All the best bro. |
peaky: Thank you so much my dear sister for the quick response. I have been working for the past eight years with reasonable and steady income. Kindly assist me on how to go about the PR visa. I have no idea at all. I sincerely need your help.Read this. It's comprehensive enough: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/ booklets/1119.pdf |
peaky: Dear Nairalanders,Read this. It's comprehensive enough: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1119.pdf |
ferdimako: Good one! But my brother, I'm still in need of that thing oh.How're u and fam?Hi Ferdie. I got the last one you sent and I did send you a reply. Nevertheless, I'll mail you again. Please confirm receipt thereafter. |
Aiming to score high in any English language test for English language users like Nigerians would have been as a result of many previous years of excellent use of the language. Hope you get what I mean. Nonetheless, I have a couple of tips: Listening: When you sit for the exam, be quick enough to have snippets of the questions before the listening test proper. This will help in letting you know the relevant info you need to provide as answers. In any case, a warm up session would be done before commencement. It's instructive that if and when you miss out on a question, don't whine/sulk as you may miss out on more. Move on. You may come back to make reasonable guesses for such. Reading: What is often the problem here is interpreting the info in the excerpts or comprehensions given. Don't give answers based on what YOU THINK IS CORRECT but what THE AUTHOR OF THE COMPREHENSION IS ALLUDING. Your opinion is not what is sought but what can be inferred from the passages. Scan through the questions first. It'll help you recognise the answers when reading the comprehension passages. Writing: I must confess, it's only how good your writing skills that have been acquired over the years are that will save you here. Howbeit, try to understand the topic/discourse first, have an idea of the points you want to elaborate (make an outline) and write in a simple, easy-to-understand language. Keep it simple. Just like writing WAEC English exam. Write with pencil. You'd easily erase to make corrections or change ideas. Speaking: Relax, take the first few seconds to arrange your thoughts and go ahead as if you're gisting with a pal. Avoid the use of slangs. All the best. |
snowburn: @ manmeta. . . please i'd like to confirm something from youHi. Be aware that this is a SKILLED MIGRATION. You're expected to have both demonstrable qualifications and work experience. On the work experience side, since you have considerable experience in OHS, it may be appropriate to follow this route. Hence, VETASSESS or whatever body indicated by DIAC would assess you. WRT relevant qualifications for OHS, see what professional level/status your OHS certifications will fetch you. Also check the overall no. of points you would garner from the overall assessment. Let's see how it goes from there. All the best. |
ferdimako: Yeah, I know that as I've gone through that booklet page by page.I just sent in my CV.Thanks!Could you prepare your CV in such a way that it will elaborate your work experience? The one you sent put your academic qualifications in greater focus. |
tamilope: Hi Manmeta,manmeta1@yahoo.com Let see how it goes. |
manmeta: 1. Could you mail me a copy of your CV pls? I'd need it to complete my perusal. Sorry I couldn't do much last weekend. The whole family was down with the winter flu.@Ferdie: I don't think 2 abovementioned will be a problem. All you have to do is to inform DIAC that you're traveling to Australia when you are ready to travel. Check pg 40 of this article: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1119.pdf |
A12345: Manmeta, and whoever is knowledgeable about supplychain in the house. Can a person that has work experience in stores/warehousing nominate "Supply and Distribution Manager" on the skill occupation list. The DIAC website or your assessing body defines the duties/responsibilities of the job title you're claiming. Check these and once you can align your previous work experience with these, go ahead and apply. |
ferdimako: Oh yeah, if you know you're qualified, process the PR visa there instead of waiting for an employer/state/regional sponsorship. That will be Subclass 189. I learnt am qualified just this month and am preparing (IELTS GT Sept 21 & ACS Skill Assessment) for it before I land with my student visa (ECU,Ms,computer Science,2yrs). I am headed to Perth,WA.1. Could you mail me a copy of your CV pls? I'd need it to complete my perusal. Sorry I couldn't do much last weekend. The whole family was down with the winter flu. 2. With respect to applying for a Skilled Visa: I think (if I'm right) you may need to confirm where you've to be when you Skilled/PR visa is granted. If you applied offshore you must be offshore when granted visa. I'm not sure but pls confirm. |
Americanvisa: What of some body who read Education Economics and working as Marketing specialist which is listed as part of the occupation highly needed,is this person qualified?@manmetWhy not? It all depends on how you write your dossier. |
jt2010: Dear All,@All. Please help. British Council study pack is also good with a bunch of links. And who says you can't reach for 8.0? |
mimi1147: @ menmetaGod forbid o! The devil is a liar. Do what you have to do before Noah's ark is shut. |
manmeta: Dear all,For those seeking info about what areas are regional or not, regional areas are clearly spelt out on pages 13 and 14 of this document. |
Dear all, To demystify this point-based skilled migration thingy, please read: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1119.pdf I betcha, once you've read this document, you won't need to seek basic info or use an agent. You will turn an expert yourself. Trust me. This is what I call the AUSTRALIAN POINT-BASED SKILLED MIGRATION/PR BIBLE. |
A12345: Aunty Jenny,Manmeta and other housemates that have gone through the PR route what is the chances of gaining a positive skill assessment for an experienced person with the prerequisite qualification whose occupation is in demand but has been out of job for over 2years now.Dear A12345, what is important is not the number of years you are out of the job within the particular discipline you want to claim experience in. More important, is the number of years of experience you have in that discipline. The number of years will determine the number of points you can claim for this section towards the minimum of 60 points. In the last 10 years, 3 years work experience = 5 points In the last 10 years, 5 years work experience = 10 points In the last 10 years, 8 years work experience = 15 points Read all here: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1119.pdf |
mimi1147: @ manmetaGood way to go. |
mimi1147: @ jennyLittle, irrelevant or no work experience at all? |
ferdimako: Bros, abeg am still waiting oh. I actually gave that thing to my boss also and he's yet to get back to me. Please help me with anything so that I finish it off.Don't worry Ferdie. I'm on it. I promised you this time around. Trust me, you'll have my comments probably this week. You're almost good to go bro. We must have a Nairaland "parapo" or "owanbe" when you guys all land. LOL |
mimi1147: And from the list you pasted above, I can Specialize in 4 fields thereI'd recommend you choose one where you can readily and easily prove you have considerable and requisite experience in order to garner maximum points. |
Donxavier: Please is there anybody in the house who immigrated to Aussie with the subclass 189(Skilled Independent)visa? You mean something like bank statements stuffs? Nay! You don't need it. One of the greatest incentives for Australian migration. Sounds unbelievable, right? But it's true!!! Grab the offer while it's hot. Immigration policies are changing fast. |
holahola78: Pls and pls o NLrs, this thread is changing from student visa (joking). I decided to join NL today cos I have been following this particular thread as a guest for long. Actually I'm not qualified for the skilled thing. No work experience (actually self employed) . Kudos to @manmeta et al. I rarely see jennykadry's post now since you all don leave student corner o. I'll go back watching n reading again. I love this thread, can't do without reading it a day.1. We've actually asked for a separate thread to address General Skilled Migration. But I think this thread was left to be an hybrid for both student and skilled migrant visa issues. There are some overlapping issues and some people have actually discovered that the GSM route may be more applicable to them vis-a-vis studying. 2. It has been hitherto clearly stated. But for the purpose of emphasis/clarification, the studying route may be more appropriate for the not-too-experienced. 3. WRT your question, I leave it for the student visa experts to respond. |
cconcept: Thanks, I have checked the SOL and agricultural consultant which my babe qualified for is what I am looking at.what can you say about vetasess-the assessing body?To be honest, I don't. |
cconcept: I guess this result is not good enough to applyI think this may be ok for assessing your qualifications by your assessing body and I guess it's IELTS Academic. For visa application, why not do IELTS General Training which is easier than Academic? If you'd have these scores in Academic, I see you having a minimum of 8.0 and scoring the maximum 20 points here (With my otondo english, I got 8.5). I must confess this is a good section to garner points for the 60 required, if you give it your best shot. Think about. |
NNBB2012: Hi,I forgot to mention. Endeavour to apply for EA membership. Since your MSA was ok, you just apply and pay the membership fee. That's all. You're then recognised as a Professional Engineer in Australia and you can add the postnominals "MIEAust" to your name. There are many benefits you stand to enjoy. Also try to join APESMA. |
cconcept: Please can someone reconfirm the minimum score per band for ielts to apply for the skill select PR route6.0 on each band will fetch you zero points. 7.0 on each band will fetch you 10 points. 8.0 on each band will fetch you 20 points (the max you can claim here). All the best. |
Fredington: Thanks for your input. Yes,as an Optometrist, one must not really be consulting only, there other areas you might work but the major thing is that if for instance i work as Sales representative in a Pharmaceutical company, then which organization will assess my document or if i work with NGO as director medical services? It all depends on the position/discipline you want to claim. Check the SOL first and that will determine the assessing body. |
evanstical: According to the link NNBB2012 posted, for skills assessment I have to pay AuD$1000 and later pay AUD $3060 for PR lodging application. Not really cheap ooo and process big, or I am missing something. What's the AUD1,000 for? Your qualifications assessment? My brother, I'll say that's VERY cheap compared to the student visa route where you pay HEAVY school fees, the student visa itself, hostel and you'll still come to pay for the PR application eventually. AUD3060 is just a fraction of all these. |
A12345: but i have over 10yr experience in warehousing. Do i have a better chance of a positive assement outcome if i nominate Procurement Manager on the skill list. Why not? As long it's on the SOL and you can meet the minimum 60 points. I think you can with 10 years experience. Go for it. |
