The reason why yuo are a christian is because that was the religion u were born into. If u were born in Saudi Arabia to muslim parents you,d have been a sunni muslim or Israel to Jews Jewish, India to indian parents Hindu etc. The vast majority of people like you stick to the religion they were brought up into.

I think if God were to reveal himself all doubts about his existence will be put to rest, perhaps he can't do so because he only exists in the minds of gullible humans.

Prayer is nothing but superstition. Words of encouragement may inspire you but its action u need to motivate u. Giving up something that u enjoy doing is going to be a lot harder than u think. Its requires a lot of hard work and determination you've got to make your mind off it and stay focussed.
