The threat of eternal hellfire dose not bother me one single iota. When I even think of the whole concept of hell it dose not make sense. How can someone be burning in hellfire at 100 degrees centigrade for the rest of eternity? My reasoning faculties tell me that you'd be dead in about 10 seconds. How will I be kept alive to roast & burn? How will my body survive such high tempertures for the rest of eternity?

ifeness: I am happy for you dude. My mum was an evangelist. She died of an illness that could have easily be cured medically. She was encouraged into uneccessary prayers and fasting. It got to point the pastor adviced she visited the clinic. She died on the way.

That was marked the begining of the turning point in my life.

I have empowered my self ever since. I dont need a sugar daddy.

Am sure if your mother had somehow survived her illness her pastor would've encouraged her to give her testimony using her miraculous survival to encourage church members to risk their lives by ignoring medical treatment and your pastor would never admit the unfortunate truth about how she passed away because its not good for church business. You wouldn't even know how many people he has encouraged to forgo treatment and eventually pass away. Sorry for your loss dude.

okeyxyz: The fact that other people have "mal-practiced" christianity is not a sound reason for you to reject god. I too have suffered from such malpractices. But I learn by re-evaluating my actions and the reasons behind them, knowing that I'd failed because of my ego rather than because of the falsity of christianity. I'm not persuading you to be a christian but your reasons above are just not valid.

Which means in your book no reasons are valid then. Reasons to reject God can be staring you right in your face but you have been so conditioned to see God as the answer that no matter what you will always find some reason or excuse to stick to your God of the bible. seriallink: After going through posts & threads made by some christian- to-atheists converts, I came to these conclusions:

1. Most of them were dedicated churchgoers and do not understand christianity when they were christians!

2. Most of them were church doctrine followers and not good bible students. They probably left Christianity for Atheism because they were tired of obeying silly church laws & doctrines!

3. Most of them were victims of false teachings & doctrines. That's why they see biblical teachings as illogical & silly!

4. Most of them prayed without faith when they were christians and expected answers. How can you pray without faith and expect answers or miracles to happen?

5. Some were victims of tithe fraud!

An atheist is not supposed to be worried about religious people's heaven or hell, since he/she doesn't have faith or believe in the existence of a God. They aren't supposed to bash religious people or engage them in debates on topics relating to God/heaven &/or hell because they do not believe in anything that has to do with the existence of God. But from what I have observed so far, most christian-to-atheist converts had problems with christianity because of at least one of the points I listed above!

Advice to my christian brethren & sisters: If you are a churchgoer, study your bible with honesty, praying & asking for the holy spirit to lead & give you wisdom to understand it very well. Do not rely on teachings from your Pastors (MOGs) or some silly church doctrines & interpretations of scriptures! Decipher scripture with scripture!

If you are not a churchgoer or do not have a church but believe in Christ, study your bible at home & pray that the holy spirit leads you & give you understanding; share with brethren online too.

Scripture says:

Isaiah 28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little:

Use scripture to explain & interpret scripture. Brethren & sisters, if you do not do these; but rely only on your so-called pastors & church doctrines, you'll end up becoming a stiff-necked atheist!

These are my observations. What are your own views?

this is just your own church brain's biased christian point of view about why we ex christians became atheists. Since you can't think outside the box ~~of religion~~it will be very difficult for you to understand with that big mental block called faith blocking your senses angry

Was just explaining to a member why we have a theist and atheist mods here besides no one has ever complained about my moderating unlike our muslim neighbour next door.

Yes your getting it right. Do you have to be a Politician to discuss a topic related to Politics? Do you have to be a Family man to discuss a topic related to Family? Do you have to be a Cultured person to discuss a topic related to culture? Do you have to be a Sports fanatic to discuss a topic related to Sports? Do you have to be a Traveller to discuss a topic in the Travel section. So why do you have to be Religious just to discuss a topic in the religious section?

We should be allowed to freely say whether we will to allow others to s/e;xu;a;ll*y abuse our children in the name of God without fearing what those who support/condone such abuse because of their religious affiliation think/say/threaten. Anything that cannot stand being examined in the light is darkness!

If i wanted to ban someone the software will not allow me to do it unless i give a reason but if i decide to bin a topic i don't have to give a reason so am afraid mukina is not going to come here and explain she hasn't even been here for a long time now.

Well as an atheist I do not feel the urge to starve myself or close my eyes and talk to myself when am feeling troubled or have problems. What I do is read motivational books. I also googled self discipline which has a lot of inspirational points which I use. I do not feel the need to talk to an imaginary friend. I am not a spiritual person.

I am seeking clarification as to what happened to the recent thread that was asking what our reactions would be if a prophet were to come tell us they saw a vision in which God told them to marry our 9 year old (something along those lines). Is the thread still alive or am I just particularly banned from the thread for my one or both of my posts in the thread.

I don't know who is the particular MOD for the section on which that thread was but I will appreciate knowing what happened.

Nairaland is a discussion forum so their are bound to be differences of opinions when topics are discussed. The pentacostal will not agree with the catholic. The muslim will not agree with the christian. The theist will not agree with the atheist. But so far we all stick within the forum rules & regulations then you have nothing to complain about. If you do feel any poster is offending you & breaking any rule then click on the report to moderator link. Say what the problem is then me or JeSouL will deal with it.
