A lot of people commenting here do not know there's a difference between Property Price and Property Valuation. Property price is determined by the market, while valuation takes into several consideration like the environment, economic activities, etc. For a property to be correctly assessed, there are two components:

a. The land which takes into account the measurement in size and it's "historical" value. For instance, a land does not appreciate by 5,0000% over a period of say 5 years. Secondly, other factors are taken into consideration such as the environment, socio-economic activities, For instance, properties located in flood plain areas, or located around a certain environment tend to have less appreciable value than others.

b. The improvements (this is the actual house itself is what gets taxed on somewhat higher). While lands appreciate, improvements depreciates aggressively which is why it's often capitalized over a period of time. For instance, a personal property is likely to depreciate slowly than a commercial property.

A lot goes into valuation which is why I think the people supporting this law cannot seem to prove how they came up with their valuation. To imagine that the house used as an example was valued at N539 million beats me.

Practically, a salvaged vehicle becomes legally drivable after it successfully passes a DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehicle) inspection. I've done >100 of these and, even shipped more +50 to 9ja over the course of the past 10yrs. Believe it or not!

That must be in the 'DMV' (DC, MD VA) area. A salvaged vehicle means it's been involved in a prior accident and gotten fixed NOT that it can't no longer be driven. This is why there's 'Car-Fax' for you to use to check these cars accident history. Have you heard of "IAAI", "Copart" etc...? They all auto auctions that carry majority of salvaged/accident vehicles thru the insurance companies?

So driving a salvaged vehicle is never an offense perhaps, the vehicle is a damaged one.

Uncle, a "Salvage" title means the vehicle doesn't meet the standard criteria for road operation in terms of safety, in other words, you cannot operate the vehicle.. Simple and Short, case closed. It's not only vehicles that are involved in accidents that are deemed salvage, flooded vehicles are salvaged... AKA total loss. Uncle, what you're referring to is "REBUILT" title where a car involved in a car accident is fixed and sold on used car lots... AKA from SALVAGE to REBUILT.

I'm confused what has IAAI and Copart or even CarFax got to do with this conversation. Salvage is salvage, not just from the insurance companies. Forget this your long story, driving a salvage titled vehicle on any road in TX and no proof of financial responsibility would earn you an impound + possible arrest because that's two moving violations. Just so you know, the offence is simple: driving a vehicle that doesn't meet safety standards, an unregistered vehicle (salvage vehicles do not carry valid registration), and no proof of financial responsibility or insurance is grounds for misdemeanor or even felony crime. I won't argue with you, just don't fall victim one day.

Driving with an expired license is NOT an offence, you'll likely get off with a citation or worse, a traffic ticket, and a big one of cos i.e. if you haven't received a citation yet. However, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license or even a revoked license is the criminal offence.

There's nothing like "expired license plates", but the vehicle registration.

Exxon pays all their taxes to different jurisdiction where their operations are. For instance, local property taxes for which they file annual rendition forms is paid to the Country Appraisal District where the property located. Their oil wells in West Texas say the Midlands would be paid to the CAD over there NOT Houston. Same applies to gasoline taxes as well Payroll taxes. Yes Houston gets a huge portion of the franchise/sales tax, but all jurisdictions get all their taxes.

Companies are allowed to place there HQ where ever they please. It's their money and investment. They do pay taxes for the operations that happen in that state. Since the HQ not in state they don't collect those taxes simple.

These are just not "any" companies, you're harnessing their natural resource. This is NOT a company establishing a presence in the state, and you have a HQ in another state, you're actually taking something that's naturally embedded in their environment. In some countries like the U.S., any place where you operate from is where you pay your taxes as well as that of employees. By law, if Nigeria were a sane county, Exxon and the rest would pay taxes to the states they drill oil from, NOT Lagos. Lagos doesn't add any value to their operations. Whether you agree or not, change is coming.

It's the most appropriate thing to do... Almost all Oil Drilling Companies are located in TX or Louisiana, not Washington DC or NY. You cannot drill resources from State A and then pay taxes in State B. It's just not right.
