Foreign Affairs / Re: Donald Trump To Sign Orders Restricting Refugee, Muslims From Entering US by manny4life(m): 6:15pm On Jan 25, 2017 |
abbey621: Lmao... From the wonderful link you posted, it's a "RULE" or "ORDER" issued to "Executive Branches" NOT the entire U.S. that are subjected to it, having a force of law on executive agencies and NOT binding on the entire U.S. like Obamacare does... Carefully read my post again before spewing gibberish. I asked you, if you claim it's law, why hasn't Obamacare been repealed? I mean Trump and Republicans HATED Obamacare, Trump signed an EO on Friday afternoon he was sworn in: Why hasn't Obamacare been repealed if it's law? Obamacare is A LAW that affected ALL U.S. States where several republican states litigated all the way to SCOTUS, and IRS was taxed with the responsibility of deducting up to $2,500 for noncompliance. This law affects 300+ million Americans in 50+ states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. THIS IS A LAW even the Supreme Court upheld it. An Executive Order only affects Executive Agencies of which their main boss is the president. An EO does not affect 300 million + Americans or the 50 + states, or other branches of govt. Next time, read a book, know the difference before you talk rubbish. |

abbey621: Really? Has the same capability as law? So why is Obamacare is very active? Heck why do taxpayers have to pay tax penalties for not having Obamacare? No need arguing with you, believe whatever you want. You would wake up one morning to realize that you're the one yarning jargon. 1 Like |

abbey621: First, if you're a U.S. Citizen and you claim to know how democracy works, then you would know that President Trump is the head of the executive, and what he signed is NOT law, but an Executive Order. Second, Congress is the only arm of govt that makes laws, the president does not make laws but uses an EO to temporarily suspend or resume an activity that often deals with executive branches until Congress decides what to do with it. For instance, on his first day in office, he signed an EO to repeal Obamacare, well, Obamacare is still very existent because he cannot suspend it. As a matter of fact, Republicans are actually reconsidering whether to allow states decide if they want to keep it or not. Finally, you're mixing two things: deportees and refusal of visa. These are two agencies: Deportation is strictly the responsibility of the Dept. Homeland Security in which USCIS falls under, while Visa is the responsibility of the State Dept. The president has the Constitutional right to issue an EO to the state department (consular affairs) on U.S. Visa Policy. Whether this EO is constitutional or violates INA is a different story, and considering that we have a republican controlled house and a soon-to-be conservative Supreme Court, anything is possible. Visa or not is irrelevant because when you arrive to the U.S., the person who decides your entry is the CBP agent at airport. 5 Likes |

slurryeye2: And excessive rainfall that cause massive flooding isn't a bad weather right? Normal wind is okay until it mixes up with rain and you have a hurricane destroying everything in its path. Weather changes have an "acceptable limit", until it becomes excessive, if you live in an area where it snows, apart from chilly temperatures, you would know that some people suffer massive damage to property or even fatal loss of life due to snow or frostbites. It's not the snow that kills, it's the ice formation that has sent many to their early grave. So therefore, depending on where you are, snow can actually be a bad weather condition. |

I'm sure if it snowed in Nigeria, this wouldn't be any different; however, experiencing snow first hand and naturally reacting to it regardless of how successful he's become shows you that he's true to himself. Whether he shouts "mama I don touch snow" shouldn't be anyone's business since we're in the business of "people being sensible enough to mind their own business". 3 Likes |

adanny01: Unfortunately, that's a costly price paid for the agitation of freedom. To you, the aim is not achieved, but to them, it's is but a successful step. They promised to bring Nigeria to it's knees by cutting oil production by 50%. Well, they're almost at that mark, I mean why would Buhari finance more than 40% of the budget using loans? They promised to make the ND far-from-promising for the IOC's, well they're actually achieving that, heck Nigeria is seen as an unstable nation. The result is Nigeria has been downgraded in the financial market. Any wise leader would listen, because slowly but surely, Buhari cannot fight too many domestic threats at the same time. Nigeria lacks the resource for that now. |

GMBuhari: Lmao, again, go back and read the post again, then look at your comment, and then revise your statement. They don't need to attack any part of Nigeria, their prior attacks crippled Nigeria's oil sectors and raised red flags in the oil market signaling Nigeria as unstable. Heck, Nigeria went into recession partly because of unstable oil production and declining oil prices. If Buhari continues, how is he gonna fund the rest of his budget? Oh I forgot he's hoping to drill oil from the North, yet, rely on foreign financial institutions to borrow. More so, how well did "Operation Crocodile" succeed in the ND? Haha, like I said, no need to attack any part of Nigeria, 2017 would be an interesting year, let's see how the year pans out. 31 Likes 5 Shares |

He actually tried considering this is from his personal purse, but this is not in the same class as a stadium, this is more like an open Arena, and a little covering is called a grandstand, and the seats are called bleachers. This is something you would see in very small cities, or similar to universities. They often have a small racetrack for open events, or kids football, etc. No one should misunderstand me, he did well but this is certainly not a stadium. 1 Like |

All I can tell you is this: whoever doesn't like their model should start their own business and discount prices how they wish. It's fair play, bus transportation isn't one that has a great barrier to entry. 1 Like |

It's amazing to see how people are tripping over themselves over anything Igbo. The last I checked, British Airways more than tripled a flight ticket to Lagos, even British citizens paid the same fare. Domestic flights in Lagos are no exception to this rule, why singling out the Igbo's as an exception is simply amazing. No one forced you to travel home, drive your car and avoid the expense, this is simply business. If you feel the need to help others, simply start your own transportation business and help. I mean, if all the noisemakers on here deployed their Sienna's, and discounted their prices, I'm sure people wouldn't complain.. 4 Likes |

macaranta: I mean they don't have to drag with them, they can have a prepaid meter but at the end of the month, if your usage surpasses a prepaid balance equated to assumed use, simply disconnect the light, deduct it from the prepaid balance and if there's any balance, don't reconnect until paid in full. What I'm trying to say is this You have a prepaid balance of N1,000 and you supposed consumed N800, supposedly your prepaid should be N200, if after end of the month cycle reading, your usage is valued at N800 but your prepaid balance is still showing N,1000 on your account, simply deduct and if there's a balance, disconnect until paid in full. This would bring some sought of sanity into the system, most customers are just as guilty as the discos in question. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Long term Agriculture is Not Way Foward Industrialization Is. (nigerian Economy) by manny4life(m): 5:45pm On Dec 24, 2016 |
EternalTruths: Technological education is important but this isn't really the key. Every country is good or better than the other in something, we must learn to walk before we run. Technology isn't the key driver to Nigeria's prosperity, we have to improve infrastructures first. If China worried more about building planes and warships first instead of increasing their base manufacturing and strengthening their infrastructural asset, they would not be where they are today. If they neglected capital and towed the path of "spend-as-you-earn", they would not be so financially prosperous to embark on large-scale financial projects like the three-gorges dam that gulped almost $28billion. Despite the number of foreign engineers that have visited Nigeria to turnaround the refineries or even the electrical distribution network, despite the number of technocrats we have in govt, most of them are foreign trained, why is it that many haven't been able to turn things around? Very simple, the infrastructures are dilapidated or nonexistent anymore. You cannot talk about an advanced economy and thus neglecting infrastructures and CAPITAL while relying primarily on technology and then think you would survive... This is why the U.S. is in it's current state, old infrastructures and no money, it was only a matter of time before companies started sourcing cheaper tech outside the U.S. Advanced technology is good but it can never be a sole driver to prosperity in any economy...Advanced technology cost MONEY, it's not cheap. It gulped Chinese Aerospace tens of billions of $$$$ just to build their first airplane. Like the gentleman talked about Texas Instrument, erecting a building of such magnitude and specification cost billions of $$$$ and only a few people know how the tech works exactly. Nigeria doesn't have this type of money. Even in pharmaceutical, it's cost about a billion $$$ for R& for a new type of national drug, so right now, borrowed technology would do until we have the infrastructures and the CAPITAL in place to move onto advanced tech. |

No need to export coal (for pennies) like Nigeria does exporting oil (instead of finished products) when we can export bulk electricity to you.. Did you forget at some point in time, Nigeria imported bulk electricity from Ghana in exchange of Nigeria exporting gas to Ghana...
