Champions don't avoid challenges, they develop thick skin and strategies to overcome them.
Super Eagles should rather prepare for any perceived underdog like they would for the teams they see as big team. |

impactValue: Greetings, good people of Nairaland
Please I need a piece of honest advice from experienced nairalanders, I am a Software Engineer, I got an offer from a very close friend (He is like a brother to me) of mine that resides in Dubai to come and manage a club he co-owns to enable him time for other activities. I will need to learn how nightclubs operate since I have little or zero knowledge about the nightlife. I have the freedom to pick up side gigs (or remote work) when I can and He is not in any way restricting me but he needs me to learn the business with him.
The plan, in a simple language, when I learn the business well enough he will pull out and open his own so I can be his manager since he doesn't want recognition.
He paid for my flight ticket and was the one that processed the visa for me (tourism) and he is currently working on how my visa can be extended and my work permit too.
Before I came to Dubai, I applied for this opening with a tech firm in Berlin. I completed the last stage here in Dubai and have been sent the offer but I will have to relocate to Germany because the work is on-site, the company bare expenses regards flight ticket, travel insurance, visa process et al. The start salary is 56K euros per annum (gross).
Also, I resigned from a bank as a development specialist (full-time staff not yet confirmed though, was earning 450K naira net with other benefits) prior to my trip to Dubai. I was doing well in Nigeria because I earned a total of up to 800K (with all my works combined) just that the work ethic (the bank work) is toxic to me because you will work your brain out debugging code, plus I am looking at a good place that I can start a family when I am ready and Nigeria is a no for me unless I have enough money to send my kid abroad to study.
What do I do now that I am already in Dubai? I am passionate about tech and I love the echo system. Please any input from experienced fellows will go a long way for me.
Thanks in advance. Mod please help so I can get as much input as possible Provided the Germany offer is genuine, I would advise you to go the Berlin way. It may even be a launching pad for you in Germany. Techies have options in Germany and they're sorted for. With time, you can even migrate from Germany to a country like Switzerland where you can raise your children and settle your family, if Nigeria or Africa is out of choice place to settle in(at least for now) Godspeed, my brother. Alles gute! |
Romance › Re: My Girlfriend Doesn't Know I Have Mental Issues by ManspaceBarber(m): 2:40pm On Nov 08, 2021 |
Dude397: Good evening everyone. To cut the long story short my mental health issues started in 2012 when I tried weed in the university. It's not genetic. I've also been in and out of psychiatric hospitals a good number of times. However I'm currently on medication and I've been able to manage the condition. I was also able to graduate and I've also done my nysc and my family is planning on opening a small business for me since job has not been forthcoming.
However my health condition has been kept secret by me and family and I'm currently dating a nice girl. Please should I tell her my secret. What caused most of my episodes was refusal to take my medication and all that but right now I'm very okay and for some few years now I've been going about my daily affairs without any issue. If I let the cat out of the bag I don't think she may stay cos the stigma of mental health issues is not a joke. Please I need your advice on how to handle this delicate issue. Thanks My brother, the most important thing is that you talk it out and there are ready to listen to you. Please take your medication seriously and refrain from being isolated, idle or lonely. Tell her if she has developed a strong interest in you. If she is genuinely interested in you, you would be amazed how her support can an additional tool for you to fight the battle you are already winning. If she's not meant for you, she may go, but your family would be there till someone meant for you comes. All in all, you can't hide your story from her if you want to build a serious relationship with her. My brother, this month I grow moustache to raise awareness for the boys close to me, who lost their battles to mental illness and testicular cancer. I would like to see you more around. I want to let you you know that no matter how you are feeling, someone else can relate. You're not alone. I care. In case you need someone to talk to, I'm all ears. |

Enn214: That's why salon dey spring up everywhere... Me too go look into that matter.. Imagine just 5 haircut per day 5x 500 = 2500 For a month .. 30 x 2500 = 75000. My brother, please abort that mission! I repeat terninate that mission!! If what inspires you to opening a barbershop is the patronage you see at your barber's place; you gotta blame yourself. You've got to have an idea of beauty and personal care business or practical experience in managing barbershop before you venture into it. My 50kobo advice offered. |

MemoriesAndMe: Everyone pays for them as they don't come free. So a barber that needs to provide his own electricity and still charge less than $2 in Nigeria is unheard of in some climes. Thank you,my brother. It boils down to the experience the barbershop is offering. I've seen barbershops that charge nothing less than ₦2,000 for basic haircut, and they record more patronage than the regular 'salons' who charge in the range of hundred. The problem here is that a lot of barbers are selling their services instead of offering memorable experience with innovation, marketing their value and finding a way to reduce thier cost to make profit. The truth is barbers who know their onions charge according to the quality of their service plus good customer relations. |

Edoziesmart: Here in Enugu I pay my barber 300, though the guy insisted I pay him 400 the last time. So I left him and met one new guy that barb my hair at ₦250 flat rate.
The difference between the formal barber and the later barber is just interior decoration in their shop. But no be A.C and well furnished shop I come Enugu to chop. Country hard now. There would always be a difference. My brother, the difference is in the experience. |

lordally: I tried it once and the kind rashes and CrawCraw wey I get for head after the barbing ehn Omo I regret am! I just don't know why I get reactions whenever I use a blade to barb my head. I have a clipper so I barb skin so this has saved me a lot of money from going to the saloon to barb! But clipper doesn't give me the Shiny Skin cut I would love to have! That's the difference. Shaving is actually expensive in comparison to low haircut. Straight razor shave is the bomb. There are nice barbershops that offer straight razor harsh-free, but it's not cheap. I'm a barber. |

tuna85: I reside within Ogun State, been barbing a low cut for N400 since January, had to visit the salon recently as a local guy. I asked of the price and was shown the price list.
As I looked up, I saw N700. Was shocked! I know the luxury barbers charge more but mehn, I am talking about the traditional salons here.
Let's know the cost in your location. Brother, good cuts aren't cheap and cheap cuts aren't good. Traditional 'salon'? If I get you right, you mean barbershop that offers traditional barbering services like straight razor shave, beard trim, haircut, head to shoulder massage, shoeshine etc. Mehn! Traditional barbershops are not cheap, they are expensive than the regular 'salon' Also, depending on the outlook and experience the barbershop you visited offer, ₦700 is relatively fair. Keep calm and support your barber. However, if you're around Abeokuta, Ogun State, Manspace is creating a social hub where today's gentleman can come to unwind, build confidence and stay on top of his style while he looks after his well-being and beauty in a therapeutic space. Manliness is an art; master it!

You would understand the term " Train si ọwọ́" These guys are talented boxers who don't learn the rules, but apply their skills to fend for themselves through thuggery There are a million Mike Tysons, Mohammad Ali, Sugar Ray, Mayweather...in Nigeria. These guys only need support through refinement and encouragement. |

etrange: You noticed all these in how many days? Have you asked those who are visiting Abuja or Lagos for the first time what they think about Nigeria? My point is, you were in a vacation mode and the feeling of newness is easily confused with being better. You were born in Nigeria and you grew up in Nigeria, so I see why you'd feel the pasture is greener on the other side. Anglophone countries only hear about fellow anglophone countries (Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, etc). We don't read much about francophone countries (you probably do cause your parents are from there) so we don't really appreciate thier issues. I'm not saying Nigeria is better but you should know Cameroon has its own problems ranging from secessionism to corruption to not-so-good economy. The police as just as corrupt as they are in Nigeria. Which politics do you want to discuss when the same person has been ruling the country long before you were born? You think they have equal rights and some people want to create thier own country? Are you bilingual?
Cameroon used to be a popular destination for Nigerians (mainly Igbos) cause it allowed them to tap into the francophone market which was non-existent in Nigeria. They also got along well with the business minded Douala people more than they did with the Hausas up North. While things have changed, it's still a relatively peaceful country or, at least, it seems to be. This means less stress and probably longer life span. On the other hand, Nigeria is a bigger country with a more viable and relatively more independent economy. This means more opportunities and more cash flow. With a corruption index of 27 and 25, I don't see any significant difference in that regards. Nigeria has the benefits and issues of bigger, more complex and more dynamic country while Cameroon has the benefits and issues of a smaller and more easy going country.
I know I didn't give a definite answer but I hope I, at least, gave some insights. Whatever you do, know that your choice is not for you alone but for your unborn kids. Seeing that you are qualified for both passports, why not get them all? You're an owl. |
