I've heard Modenine and 2Face collabo for the Jimmy Jatt mixtape song titled 'Lagos stylee' it's definately a hot song.

At last E pluribus unum "one amongst many" will be out officially next week , get a feel of it, let the whole world hear your view about the long anticipated album.

Homeboi, rapper 2- Shotz held a release party on the 20th of December! His new album Commercial Avenue was released at the Vault Idowu Martins!

I've heard 2face's new album(Grass to Grace) but, it's new to know Faze also has a new album out except for the single 'kolomental'- some one please tell me more about this!

Senegalese singer, song writer and music producer, Akon last Friday lost his belt when he was mobbed by Lagos fans. P.M. News learned that the incident occurred at about 12.50 a.m. when he was performing at the polo Club, Lagos during the Star Mega Jam . Investigations revealed that Akon discovered that his belt had disappeared after he took a dive into the crowd while performing.

When he went back on the stage he said: “My belt is missing men” and he collected another one from one of his pairs of jeans trousers and went back into the crowd. Despite losing his belt, he put up a spectacular performance till about 1.50 a.m. Akon lost his ring during his last show at Oceanview Restaurant in Lagos, last year. LL Cool J, Daddy Showkey, P-Square and Abass Akande Obesere also entertained fans.

2Face Idibia has done it again, this time he is out with another out of space sound in an album titled GRASS TO GRACE.
The album is a 13 track CD, with all the tracks appealing to the ear; from the Mc Akatu intro, One love, No shaking(car wash), I dey feel like, See me so, skit(story), E be like say, True love, 4 instance, If love is a crime, Ocho(his tribal song), My love feat. VIP and the Outro skit.

Though, contrary to initial popular speculations of features and collaborations with other artists(both home and foreign), he only featured VIP from Ghana on the track 'My love' and Soul E sang also on the track 'E be like say'.

Mode said it was his own version of Jay Z's girls, girls. Yet another hit track from his yet to be released album.

I first heard it on his myspace page (www.myspace.com/modenine) and then on Joy FM 96.5 Otukpo in Benue State.

2Shotz set to launch is new album 'Commercial Avenue' on the 20th of December at the Vault, VI, Lagos. It is widely speculated the dude has a gotten a deal with Storm records.

Hip Hop/Reggae star Wyclef Jean is set to once again storm Nigeria. This time around, rumour mill is buzzing that the state of Calabar has lured the super star to headline their annual Christmas Festival. Coincidentally gospel artiste Kirk Franklin who will be in the country in December for The Experience Lagos (a gospel concert organised by House On The Rock) is also linked to the Calabar festivities.

Kanye West Storms Naija!

Word on the street is that more and more international stars will be trooping into Nigeria in this last quarter of the year!

The latest gist is that Kanye West will reportedly be headlining the Star Mega Jam this year! That's not all, my super secrete source also speculates that Kanye will not be coming alone but with an entourage of stars as well.

Baba Dee who has signed a two-album deal with Kennis Music is also set to release his album titled Versatile.

2Face Idibia set to launch "Grass To Grace" his sophomore album with a series of events dubbed Chapter 2! The events kick off on the 9th of December at the Planet One and then move on to the Transcorp Hilton Abuja on the 10th. This will mark 2Face's first very own live concert and will also serve as the platform he'll launch his foundation ALONE (a charity organisation)

From what i've learnt so far bout hip hop, Nigeria's not ready for it yet - (Quote me)

Modey's on his own men, come to think of it, how many people buy albums in nigeria? Working class peeps? nope not really, oldies and friday night lovers. How many of Modey's tracks are comedies or party jamz? Cry? no way.

Rugged's mention of Eedris and Big bros and Maintain was enough to sell hits, as all they peeps he mentioned were hit chasers too (little sense - i hate senseless tracks by default).

If i was to make hits today, i'd come up against the presently most hyped in the country, Rugged, i believe is the most hyped rapper around today. He's good, but where was he all along when hip hop was developing? Like Pac came up and sweeped most of the rap glories(not comparing him to Pac, don't' get it wrong), we forgot bout them Jam Master Jay, R.A.K.I.M, Uncle L, Dre, Lady of Rage and a host of veterans. Who remembers naija's Cashman Davies? Don't think all these new generation Hip Hop freaks (ask them what Jay-z's debut is and they'd tell u Black Album - we all know them i believe) even know him. Some are really lucky to know Jimmy Jatt because he still doing us proud.

So man, i don't have the figures, don't even know which is Rugged's or Modey's (sorry to say, not so interested in naija raps till i'm convinced, i'd rather stick to lagbaja , more african or Yinka Ayefele ) but i believe Rugged should sell more copies, if not 3 times more ("crap" sells and so does humorous diss, ask Nas or DMX and ask G-Unit!).

Note: what's crap to me may be food to you, no offence.

Apart from that, this comparison between Modenine and Ruggedman is getting too much; from lyrics to most sold record , for God sake, Malcom IX and Pentium IX are not albums but Mixtapes, it's not enough to use them to compare Modenine with another artist- lets all wait for his debut album(yet to be released) and get a better yardstick, I heard he(Modenine) has feature 2Face on a song in the album- those that have heard say it's a party banger for sure.

I've heard this dude's track titled 'no case'. It's really hot, he sure has a future in the naija music industry.

I've heard there is a record label named KD world records somewhere in the Northen part of Nigeria. Can some one give us more info about the label as in the artists of the label, their works etc

Modenine showed that his achievement at the inaugural edition of the Hip Hop World Awards earlier this year was no fluke as he was the biggest winner at Channel O’s just-concluded The Spirit Of Africa Music Video Awards in South Africa where he won three awards including Best Hip-Hop Video[/i], Best Video and Best Director all for his video for Cry[i], the first single off his upcoming debut album, either to be named One Amongst Many or Commercial Break.

Ironically, Hip Hop World had caught a lot of flack for ‘dashing’ Modey those three heads. Most people claimed he was reaping of the fruits of his association with HHW. After all, they reasoned, no one performing his style of ‘foreign’ music could make headway in the international market. Right? Wrong! It’s funny how the voting public and the unbiased rest of Africa seems to agree with us, Riding on this success, Modey may be recording tracks in SA before returning to Nigeria to release his long-awaited debut album.

The dynamic duo are back up in the building! It's none other than the Nigerian (twin) RnB sensations Paul & Peter aka - P-Square! This time, they are back with the remix of their single 'Temptation'. This remix features UK based Nigerian rapper Alaye. The original record was hot! but, the infusion of Alaye's rap on two verses simply revamps this joint giving it a perfect Hip Hop and RnB blend. (the homeboiz rap was tight!) P-Square didn't let up either, as they serenaded the joint in their now trade mark passionate style.

The music industry has been buzzing with the rumour that RnB sensation 2-Face Idibia has parted ways with his record label Kennis Music. The whispers go on to insinuate that he dumped Kennis for a lucrative deal with Sony Music International. Are these allegations true?
