Just when the streetz are beginning to find their feet from his jump off smash single ‘Na Beans’ this Abuja cross over MC has yet unleashed another jaw-breaking single- ‘Only 4 Naija’ featuring Maytronomy, from his long mortgaged album ‘Tha Rapman Beingz’. The 16 track master piece with fat-ass production touch by Gold-lynx will hit the market on the first week of July on the stable of Megaphunk Records with November Records doubling as marketer along side Obaino Music. ‘Only 4 Naija’ video, directed by Joel Matt and midas-touch-post-production of DJ Tee has also been dished and will dazzle the air waves from 16th of July 2007. This track has been delivered with an eye-of-the-eagle view at the present day Nigeria. The track also boasts of cipher lines - “like sandwiches, you can never make it without bread” simply explained to mean you cannot make it without money in Nigeria. Having tracks with a blend of pidgin and English, tha Rapman delivers a picture of content and rhythm, a trademark of a true MC. Featured to the fullest on this album is his royal Emceeness- Mode 9 in a reloaded version of ‘Small Boy” nostalgic to Modey’s Malcolm IX, OD on ‘Shake your shangbash. Just barely weeks from now, you can have tha Rapman all wrapped up in your homes. |

Africa's finest Modenine is again in the studio with another Nigerian personality track, a sequel to '419 state of mind' titled 'Nigerian scam'. This time, he tackles the negative image created by most foreigners about his dear country Nigeria. In his words, Mode puts it that, People be talking like all Nigerians are bad!!! giving us a bad name , we aint all like that. we got hard working honest people over here, just a few rottern eggs like every other country. so why the f*ck should yall call it the nigerian scam? thats bull shit shit!!! , It'll definately be another chart toping joint, have your say!

The race of the Senate President of the 6th national Assembly was strictly a Benue affair between the returning Senator Gen. David Mark (Rtd) and the former Governor of Benue state Dr. George Akume now senator representing the zone B senatorial district of Benue state. Though the race was not an easy one, most Benue people seem to have put their weight behind the new senate President, Sen. Gen. David Mark. Most of Benue citizenry rejoiced in different patterns and styles over the loss of her former Governor in the hot race. The Benue choice was even made clear before the elections as members of the most dominant and populous tribe in the state (Tiv) which Akume is part of referred to as Tiv National Consultative Forum (TNCF) publicly declared their support for the Mark ticket. |
FAMOUS rap favourite and self- styled king of rap music in Nigeria, Eedris Abdulkareem's humiliation by foreign immigration officials spurred him to spearhead the idea of sensitising the world about discrimination against blacks, especially Nigerians through a project tagged "Don’t Disrespect My Passport" which he plans to reach all parts of the world. He is also working on a new album titled "The King is Back" on which Alabi Pasuma Wonder and Ruggedman will be featured for collaborations, to set the records straight and send signals to the right quarters. Eedris is back, have your say! |
"Tonight, I wish to bid you farewell as President of our country for the past eight years. Tomorrow, May 29th, will usher in a new and glorious dawn for our country. A new generation of Nigerian leaders will take over the great responsibility of running this great and diverse nation. "In the past eight years you, by which I mean Nigerians, have worked together with me to revive our national image, our economy and to place us firmly on the path of sanity and progress. "For the eight years that I have enjoyed your mandate and support, we changed not only the image of our country in the eyes of fair-minded, honest and objective observers both at home and around the world. "We have run the longest democratic dispensation and eliminated the risk of violent changes of government through coups and counter-coups in our political culture. "We have made clear to the world that the idea of Interim National Government does not have a place in our political culture and practice. It is something we must continue to detest. "We have widened, deepened and strengthened democracy. But democracy is not a destination, it is a journey. We must remain firmly, committedly and undivertedly on the journey. "Tomorrow morning (today), we will, for the first time in our history, witness a peaceful transition of political leadership from one democratically-elected government and personality to a new set of elected President, Governors and Legislators. As we usher in our new President and new Government tomorrow, let us take a moment and reflect on our journey so far. When we started on this journey on 29th May 1999, Nigeria was at its lowest ebb and shunned not only in the international arena but even here at home. "Many Nigerians had lost hope for the future of the country. Our citizens were leaving our shores in droves in search of better conditions in more advanced countries of Europe, the United States of America and the Middle East. "We thank God that many of these people are now returning home and are beginning to actively participate in the country's development. "On the Economic Front, we have reformed the economy and are beginning to notice the benefits of the reforms on our development and progress. "We are poised to witness positive changes for the benefit of our people. We have ceased to be one of the most heavily indebted nations of the world and can now be truly independent in all that we do for our country. Infrastructural facilities, like telephones, which were once regarded as the preserve of a privileged few, are now commonly accessible to all. These are solid foundations upon which future governments can build. "In Science and Technology, in Agriculture and Food Security, our nation has made tremendous and noticeable progress. Nigeria is not only becoming a food sufficient nation but also a food-exporting nation. "Our industrial take-off is today more assured than at any other time in the past years. There still remains a lot that we must do. I have confidence that we are well on our way to a glorious destination. "With determination, with tenacity and with the courage of our conviction, we can continue to face the future with confidence. We have set for ourselves ambitious targets that will make us one of the largest economies in the world by the year 2020. "It is attainable and achievable but if we divert from the path of economic prudence, reform and realities, we can miss the road. Then, the year 2020 will be a mirage. God forbid! "We have waged relentless battles to correct many of the ills in our society. We have demonstrated our determination to bring about a more moral society. We see a bright and prosperous future for our country. "I am particularly gratified to note how united our country is today, better than any other time in the past. In the past few months, Nigerians, from every corner of the country have amply demonstrated their yearnings for national unity, for harmony and for progress. "The recent events have indicated that we are no longer divided along ethnic, tribal, religious lines or north-south divide. We have become simply Nigerians interested in the development and progress of our country. This is a great gain. Let us respect this spirit of oneness and unity in all that we do from now on. "Tomorrow (today), I will hand over the instruments of governance to Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, our newly-elected President. He is a man in whom I have great confidence. "I have worked with him and observed him at very close quarters. I know his track record and his pedigree. I have confidence that he will discharge his mandate to the satisfaction of all Nigerians. I pledge my continued support for him and his Government. "Nigeria is in a better shape today than any time since 1979. We have started to move to the glory that God has ordained for us. "Let me end this farewell address by thanking all Nigerians for eight years of working together for our fatherland. I am particularly grateful to my critics for keeping me constantly on my toes. "Let us continue in the same spirit of what is best for our country motivated by patriotism and fear of God. I bid you good night and good-bye. God bless you. God bless Nigeria." |

Below are the lyrics for "Africa" by Fishe, Chorus: God bless the rivers out in Africa God bless the people back in Africa Each and every nation in Africa May God bless the continent of Africa Verse One: Africa. The home of civilization Home to 53 strong and beautiful Beautiful females, rich vegetation The sunshine, the rainfall, the perfect location Perfect for a very nice family vacation What a wonderful work of creation But the media only projects the negative situations Kids dying of starvation on your TV station War and diseases, just devastation Tarzan in a jungle, no modernization But these are just the media’s misrepresentations We’ve got modern infrastructures across every nation All forms of modern day transportation Modern hospitals and schools that give a good education Africans come together in unification So we can rise up to any given occasion Chorus. Let me take you back to the days of western colonization One of history’s worst case of dehumanization The days of the so-called explorations When really it was nothing but exploitation Enslaved the population of a whole generation Took some of us away to work in plantations There’s no justification for this victimization There’s no amount of reparation That can pay of this….human degradation Human rights violation Racial segregation, racial discrimination When Martin Luther marched in peaceful demonstration For liberation and total emancipation So we no longer care about skin coloration Whether you’re Latino Asian Black or Caucasian Everybody come together in unification So we can rise up to any given occasion Chorus. Nelson Mandela. Patrice Lumumba Nnamdi Azikiwe. Kwame Nkruma Haille Sellasie and Sekou Toure Steven Biko. Julius Nyerere Obafemi Awolowo. Jomo Kenyatta Inwar Sadat. Thomas Sankara Wole Soyinka. Copied from www.hiphopworldmagazine.com Rappertainer, Adeshola Idowu A.K.A Weird MC is not only ready to show you beautiful people how to get down, she’s also battle ready and armed to da mic to hit radio with – ‘Ri ran wo’ , a follow up single to the monstrously successful Ijo ya, which leapt off her After The Storm album, which also had hit tracks like ‘ready to party’,’ tire ni’ and ‘da way we blow’, to establish the returnee act as a present-day entertainer to reckon with. ‘Ri ran wo’, the first single off her yet-to be-released album is confirmed to slam simultaneously on radio stations on the 9th of June 2007; A day and month re-phrase of this date would show thus 0907 which is not only Weird MC’s birthday but also a day after which her label is named. The forth coming album which is expected to hit stores by the third quarter of 2007, has Weird MC working with Nigerian-based Producer Dr Frabs and UK-based Mr. Skillz (formerly of JJC & 419 Squad). ‘People have been asking me if this is going to sound like ‘Ijo ya’ and I’m sorry to disappoint them. I’m not trying to do another song like that. This is a different album and I can assure you that you’ll all like it’, she said during the week. Ijo ya (time to dance), was produced by Mr Skillz and Don Jazzy, it was also the song that resuscitated Weird’s career – hitting no. 1 on MTV base, topping Channel O video charts, selling over three million units (audio and VCD) and winning numerous awards home and abroad. Though she wouldn’t disclose if she’s retaining her contract with Ahbu venture, the company that marketed her- ‘After The Storm’- album, but she’s definitely ‘not mixing’ her coming Album in Nigeria she confirms. |
Do you remember the track 'Delicious' by Big-lo and 2-shotz? If you do, and liked it, then brace your self. Fresh off the release of solo projects, the artistes who have gone from friend to foe, and now to friend again, recently disclosed exclusively to Vibeweekly that they'll be working on an album together. The album is set to feature 10 tracks and the first single titled 'This Is Naija' will officially be released soon. The untitled project will feature production by Big-lo and a host of other top producers and guest artistes. Like naija's version of Method Man and Redman, we can only expect a crazy album from these frequent collaborators. What do you think the album will sound like? |
The dude is black, he is Solo, he got all it takes to keep the dance hall moving. An artist under KD World records and an Abuja based musician, at just a first listen tohis musical works, one will only think of the likes of Shaggy, Shaun Paul, Elephant man, Benie man as his equals. His video 'Friday night' has appeared almost like a permanent track of recent on the MTN top 10 videos on Nigerian television chanels and the MTV. If you've heard this guy, lets know what you feel. |
It's sure another juicy contract for Mode! I'll see this time if Kanu is a fast learner to catch Mode's composed lines for him. |
It's definately going to be the boom! Most Nigerians prayed for it and it is almost here; we're happy. When they were together before the break up, we heard them singing "we dey for fire we want explode o" we've really seen them exploded as Solo artist .In this reunion, I guess they may sing "We are the fire we want consume o", who then can stand on their way? Let it drop we're ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

This dude has no doubt like a whirlwind invaded my area and has taken the naija musical scene by storm. Almost every part of the nation you go to today, you hear this homeboy telling all peops 'Pray for me' as he keeps 'calling' and also 'promise never to go away'. Coupled with his clean videos, most people seem to get along easily with his unique flow making him the rave of the moment. If you've heard his music, what do you think of him? |
I've heard the grand return of the Nigerian Music Awards 2007 takes place on the 19th May, 2007 at the F.C.T. What is still not known to me is the Nominations; the categories and the artists nominated for each category. Any one with an imortant info should please help out! |
The Breakup to makeup hit boy band - Plantation Boiz recently gave fans a thrill as a teaser to their highly anticipated comeback album after a highly publicized breakup years ago. The trio of Faze, 2Face and BlackFace made its first performance in Lagos at Nigga Raw's concert; "Raw and Uncut" which held on April 27 '07, at the Vault, Victoria Island. The Plantation Boiz belted out some of their old tunes much to the delight of the stunned audience. They also gave a special bonus treat to all that attended in the form of a Brand new song (a potential single of their impending album). In more P. Boiz news, the group is currently working on a 13 track album which features solo and group songs from Faze, 2Face and Black Face. Their spoke man Blackface said recently that, "We're certainly coming out with a reunion album. it is going to be a 13 track album with songs like 'ocean of pasion', 'together again', 'till I meet you' among others. several top hands such as Spanky, Kelly Hanson and Cobhams would handle the production of the album, and it would certainly cost big" what do you think of the album? |
I don't see that happening in the nearest future! The both run things with each other's rival; Modenine features 2Face and Ruggedman features Faze. And, anyone familiar with the trends in the Naija musical industry will feel the silent beef boiling between 2Face and Faze, then Modenine and Ruggedman. |
I almost wept too as the first 3 groups left I wanted Pacesetters, Revolutuion 6 and starlites to remain but, Just Pacesetters were left. I developed a special interest in Revolution 6 when I watched them do a remix of Modenine's Cry- it was sad to watch them go home. |
Modenine also known as Nigelben is on another mixtape project with his producer KRAFT; while Mode drops some soulful rymes, Kraft works on the production. If you have listened to Modenine's debut album 'E Pluribus Unum' Kraft produced that party joint 'Hands up' and 'Africa', one of the best produces in naija presently. |
Modenne is presently workin on mixtapes , with an American from Brooklyn her name Toni Blackman (she is a hip-hop activist /lecturer and lyricist) it's called 'hip-hop chill'. Another with a German producer called Gee he met in Munich, the other one called' Boys From The North' with some Abuja cats, the other one with Jaque boom a German producer he also met in Berlin. Naija is definately on fire when they all drop, keep your ears to the ground mode is steaming!!!
|
the much anticipated Modenine's 'E Pluribus Unum' is finally out, which is/are your most favorite track(s) from the album, has he really lived up to expectation in the album?

Mike, the slim member of the Zule zoo, tiv by tribe is said to have gone mentally ill, presently in Benue State receiving treatment. So much talk is in Benue State as to the cause of his misfortune, while some are of the opinion that his Uncle from the village did that on him claiming he is making money from his musical career but 'eating' alone, some say it is the 'ganja' they take and others still think the other member of the group can do that to get him off so he could lay a full grip on the money raised so far. What have you heard about this incidence yet? |

layi:Ok, I like the bond between them- Kaysho and Six O. |
Blackface is now signed to a new entertainment outfit called Illific Solutions Ltd Entertainment. His new videos from the 'Evergreen' Cd will be released this month under the same label. Other artists on this label are Rocksteady, Shadrach, Nuff Noyz, Prince Wadada, Dareng, and K-soul.

Six O And Kaysho: What Is Their Relationship? These 2 guys are definately good when it comes to hiphop. Both are signed to Next level Entertainment, you'll mostly hear the two voices on a track and, even when an artist mentions one in a song, the other is sure to be mentioned too; what is there relationship? |
