Good evening,

I had my F2 Visa Interview recently and it was delayed.

This was how my conversation with the VO went:

Greetings...

VO- You are F2, you are joining your husband?

Me - Yes.

VO - What do you do?

Me - I am a researcher and I work with xxxx which is a mental health-based organisation that focuses on giving a voice to the mentally challenged...

My duties include investigating mental health cases and...

She interrupted me,

VO. How much do you earn?

Me - I earn 120k/month at ****, I also earn an additional average of 100k from freelance academic and content writing jobs.

She nodded.

VO - "That means you earn 220k in a month."

Me - Then I elaborated, "I earn 120 k per month from **** which is my full time job and I get an average of 100 k from freelance content and academic writing jobs monthly.

VO - That's why I said you get a total of 220k in a month.

Me - yes.

VO - Do you have kids yet?

Me - No, we don't.

VO - Have you ever been to any country outside Nigeria?

Me - No.

VO - How long do you plan to spend in the US?

Me - I plan to spend my 4-week work leave in the US to spend time with my husband and give him physical and emotional support. This period also coincides with the Thanksgiving break and it will afford us the opportunity to spend quality time together before I resume back to work and also before I...

She cuts in again,

VO - okay okay.

Then she paused for long and typed on the system.

VO - "I'm sorry you are not qualified and gave me the blue paper."

Please I would appreciate if anyone could help me figure out where I went wrong... And hopefully, what I should have done differently.

Sorry for the delay.
Can you answer the below?

When did your husband get his visa?
Did you have your wedding after the visa issuance?

Did he mentioned during his interview to be married?
Is your husband fully funded? Do you have deficit on I-20 ?

Also when the VO said are you joining your husband, you said Yes and then later said you visiting for 4weeks. I think the VO changed countenance from that first response.

You need to be prepared well next time. If you can join F2 mock sessions too.

Please I'm interested. Did you mean transfer to another person application or which new one?

No, you paid sevis with let us say university of Georgia, visa got denied and you have another admission at university of Maryland, so you can transfer your sevis that way if not upto a year you paid. You cannot transfer to someone else.

Good day house.please do I still need a new SEVIS FEE as I got one last year June 2nd which I use to apply for visa for Fall intake last year but got denied. Now I got a new admission letter now for Fall intake this year 2023 waiting for I-20 to apply for visa.what if I got a Visa interview date after June this year, does that mean the SEVIS FEE has expired that I can't use it again and have to get another one. Thanks.

Do sevis transfer. You will login to fmjfee.com, retrieve old sevis and transfer to new one. You don't need to contact any school for this. As far as you transfer the sevis before june 2nd, you are good.

Did you read to comprehend? Where did I advice anyone to come to the states illegally? I have just said what I know about how people survive in the states including undergraduates and gradstudents with no funding. Please, leave me ooo.

You are advising people to do illegal things in an open forum. Visa Officers do visit the thread, you don't think about the consequence? I think you should think deep yourself about what you wrote before telling me I couldn't comprehend what you typed..

America is a land of illegal immigrants. Over 12 million illegal immigrants! Most of these people in the states work illegally and do the odd jobs like care givers, Uber, Amazon, doordash etc. Depending on the states, they have different state laws that allow undocumented immigrants to thrive. States like NY, MA, CO, CA among other blue states allow immigrants to work without work authorization. Most of these people work to survive and then find their way to adjust their status. So, being a student still give you more opportunity to survive. Shalom!

Kai, please are you in US or outside US? I will like to know. You are advising someone with a better chance of landing assistantship to study in US to enter as an illegal? Have you had a one on one discussion with people that entered through that route? I mean those ready to tell you the truth. Do you think it's that rosy for them? When you can enter legally, study with tuition waived and also earn better money after school, you are advising someone to come and be doing max 20$/hr job for ever? The 20$/h is even the upper limit, most is 10$/h. Abeggy oooo. This is a wrong advise, don't lead people to trouble.

Good morning house.
I must commend all those that have been responding to questions on this platform.
I must say that you people are wonderful.

Please is it advisable to get loan of 80K Usd to study a masters in a STEM Course in usa?

How much per hour can someone earn while a masters student in US?

Is it true that securing a loan to study is a trap for international students in Usa and heavy burden to pay back??

Thank you in advance.

What particular STEM course is this? You have to consider ROI for a course before taking such loan please. My advise is try get funding from your department or other department in your school. Also, there is no hustle that can be done in US to pay school fees oooo, US is not UK please.

Thank you for your response.

So many questions running through my mind.

Will I be interviewed based on the previous DS 160 or the current one?

Do they have the workforce to check the previous DS 160 of over 200k apps in Nigeria before the interview?

Do they have the technology that automatically picks inconsistency in the previous/current DS160 during the interview?

It became a source of worry because I was opportune to have my previous ds160 available after seven years. What about people who jumped from one agent to another with different ds160 information and later secured visas?

I’m not trying to be smarter here, but I am only trying to give myself some courage and reason to get it right.

Can you state what your profile was before and what it is now. Try and use different names to illustrate it. I hope you grab that?. As regards if they have workforce to check your previous details, they will get it within nanoseconds. It's software doing the matching not human beings or one clerk looking for dusty files.

Someone posted in a group I am that agent said paying SEVIS fee is not compulsory. I was like God... These agents do not even know anything. People too maybe due to japa desperation don't want to do extensive search. If you can't do detailed search, at least ask questions here for people to guide you. Imagine agent that didn't even know basic requirements been your messiah. It's sad.

Thanks so much, I just want a confirmation, how much is the SEVIS fee and does it apply to F2 dependents?

SEVIS fee is 350$ + 10$ charges. You can contact anyone in US to help you pay.

F2 do not pay Sevis fee, only F1

Hello everyone,

I'm not conversant with this thread unlike the Canadian student visa thread I'm really use to but please I would really appreciate our response

My mum told me just this evening about her plans to go to the USA for 6months on a work visa, I'm not so in support of this so I really need all information I can get while I take time to go through this thread to maybe discourage or encourage her if she has a chance

1. Please how would she go about it? She told me about her younger sister sponsoring her
2. I really don't want her using an agent cause she told me she already has one. Please is it something I can process for her? I mean like a DIY thing Do it Yourself
What work visa is your mum applying for? I hope it's H1B, if not, then abort mission. She should be mindful of agent too.

Greetings,

Please, I’m having a little challenge with my previous ds160. In 2016 when all hopes were down, I tried using an agent to secure a US visa. While filling out the ds160, he misrepresented me by putting the wrong institution and program without my knowledge; I discovered this error when I demanded a ds160 printout. I went for an interview, and I was denied; I stopped applying for any visa and started building my life.

Now I have secured admission with funding, how do I face the challenge of conflicting information on my previous and current ds160? Do I put my real institution because there is no way I would continue with the school he filled in the last ds160?

Please help me.

What conflicting info do you have filled? The agent used fake school for you or what?

Kindly assist with the process of getting an earlier date please, he's an undergraduate f1 applicant, he knows nothing about all this.

Please anyone?

Hi, you should keep checking the appointment page like 3 times a day, you can stagger the checking so that you are not banned for 72hours. You will surely get a date for your son. All the best.

Another question please, in my quest for an earlier appointment date, I talked to someone I know who run this stuffs, though he doesn't do it himself,. Buts he's got a link in the embassy that could help me secure an earlier date and the guy is charging 200k, payment after date is secured but in all truth, I'm kinda skeptical about the whole thing.,....please advise

Look for date yourself or you find date search group and join. That is what the person that wants to collect 200k from you will also do or the person wants to give you fake date appointment as some do. Try and involve yourself in this process and you will be glad you did. All the best.

Hello guys, is it worth paying for WES for my credentials to be evaluated I applied to Georgia state university. I don't know my chances of getting admission yet and I don't want to waste money on it.

Do you mean Georgia state university or Georgia southern university? I am not sure Georgia State requires WES. Also, what is your profile like and what course? In this journey, if you have the funds to do the WES, try and get it done as you will not be restricted to applying to some schools making it compulsory

Secondly can two of us travel as students since my name has been changed to his via our court wedding and newspaper published?
Or is it better for me to go first while he joins later and how long will it take to achieve that.

What is your funding status like? If you are funded by the school and your husband wishes to go with you, shoot for it. If your husband wants to study, he can change status to F1 while in US. It's not a must to go for interview.

Also at the interview, you will have to explain what your husband plan is, staying or just helping to settle? All in all, weigh your options well.

Good evening everyone. Hope you had a great day.

Please, I need clarity. The agent I used for getting a closer date sent me an appointment confirmation slip yesterday, and it says my interview date is now 28th Feb. I was super excited, only for me to check the date on my profile on US.Gov this morning, it was still the August 2023 date that is still displaying. I called him to understand, but he said that's how they do it, I should relax, not to worry, and just come for the interview on that day. Have I not been scammed like this? Please house. What is the implication? Is this how it goes?

You know when the VO start checKing the system, won't S/he accuse me of fraud, that I am not supposed to be interviewed that day?

You have been scammed. Don't waste your time and resources to travel for the interview. The agent just edited an appointment for you. Agents search for date same way others do, so why waste money paying them unless you don't know how to or you don't have the time to do so...

You won't even get to the VO because the pre-screening outside won't have your name on the list.

Hence why I listed it.
I just think going out of state for cpt/coop internship which last 3 to 6months is expensive because you will either maintain two rents or move to your place on employment only to move back within 6months.

I get your point.

That decision will be made at the right time. She is still hunting for position in a school, so she has no much option for now on that. When she gets to US, that decision will be made.

Please what can you say about South Dakota state university and also you mentioned that it is in the middle of nowhere, does it mean that it is not a place to live or the school environment is not good. I am asking because your response will help me to make my decision

Get your admission and funding and head to any school in any location. It's when you have many options that you can decide not to go to a particular state. I don't know if you have many options, but if not, lots of Nigerians are in SDstate and even North Dakota. You can get internship anywhere, it's not a must you do it in same state your school is.

It doesn't matter. She can always do internship in any state not compulsorily SDstate. And she can also get internship at SD state too, so the focus should be getting funded offer first and entering US.

Hi everyone.

I was refused a visa in 2021 and I lost my US student visa refusal letter. It is required for a student visa application I’m making to the UK, I was given a conditional offer to the school pending when I send the letter across. I have explained in a letter that I have lost the letter and stated the reason for my denial (home ties), but they’re still insisting on the letter, what do I do please?

Just find someone they denied recently and they can snap and send to you. It doesn't carry any personal info.

But this not true in some cases . I applied to west virginia because my course is a fully funded program and I think the goal pf applying to schools is to be sure if they have funding for your program. Not everyone follow the crowd, some of us really research before applying

Maybe your own case is different as you did your homework before applying. Most only read about there is funding in a school and then rush to apply there without knowing the context and profile of the person that got the funding. That is the angle I am seeing it from

Seems one LinkedIn or Twitter influencer has posted how they got many offers from the school, it's same pattern, people just move to same Schools whereas profiles differs. Do your own search and be sure you meet most requirements..
