TravelHow To Spend 4 Days & 3 Nights On The Obudu Mountains by mantosa(op): 10:17am On Aug 31, 2018
When you go to Obudu, you’ll understand that the hills are really alive.

Despite the fact that it is called Obudu Plateau, it is actually located in the Obanliku local Government area which is about 60km from Obudu town. It is on these mountains that the famous cattle ranch was built.

To get to Obudu, there are two options as flights are not currently going there directly. You can either fly to Calabar and take a drive down for about 8-9 hours or you can fly into Enugu to cut the road trip down to 4 hours.

Once you get past the numerous checkpoints and bad roads along the way, you finally get to the plateaus and you are welcomed by the figure of a cow head perched on a ‘gate’. This is the beginning of many picture worthy moments as you are wowed by the mountains and the clouds that are within your reach.

Day 1

After arriving at the ranch and settling in your accommodation, have some lunch and begin your first activity of the day.

This is a tour of the Becheve nature reserve. This reserve is home to various plants/vegetation and also has a canopy walk.

At the end of the canopy walk, you climb a tower and you get to view the numerous plants available on the mountain and some mountain peaks are also highlighted.

The thrill really is the canopy walk and if you have mischievous people like I am, you’ll have some jumping and scaring the living daylight out of you.

After you get off the canopy walk, specifically asked to be taken to the Fern tree grove within the reserve. Some don’t get to visit but trust me it’s worth it. It’s almost like walking into an enchanted forest and has the most amazing white lilies. Not only are these lilies pretty to look at, they also smell divine. I likened the smell to talcum aka baby powder. There’s also a little river running through the middle and if you didn’t know any better you would think you were in a place right out of a fairy tale.

After walking round the enchanted forest, take a walk round the grounds of the resort built on the Obudu Mountains but before that, don’t forget to take a picture infront of the Becheve signage as a way to show you were really there.
As you walk round, you will notice the facilities that belong to the resort – basketball courts, restaurant, steak house and more importantly, the locals.

You can end the night playing board games with your group if you packed some or just watch TV till you’re tired and you call it a night.

Day 2

If you’re a morning person, 6 am is the time to set out. This is to go bird watching. Obudu is home to various species from the yellow bird to the red long claw bird. During the sightseeing, you see the various accommodation options such as the mountain villas, African huts, the conference room and also the presidential villa which is perched at the top of a hill in all its glory.

The most exciting part about this is while looking for birds, you literally go through the jungle. Like someone in our group said, it was like walking into Jurassic park. It was just us, bushes, the sound of streams and the birds. A couple of people will fall on their ass because the soil might be wet but it made for a couple of laughs.

When you get out of the jungle, you realize you went in the middle of one mountain and came out of the other side. It’s astonishing because if anyone points out to you that you would walking in the middle of mountains, you would chime in that it’s impossible, but alas it can be done.

After coming out alive on the other side, take some pictures at the top of the mountain you’ve just conquered and head on home because remember, you haven’t had breakfast. However keep an eye out for the most amazing valley views. It was breathtaking. We all had to stop and marvel at its beauty. Just in case you’re wondering, it’s on the left side of the presidential lodge so now you can’t miss it. Thank me later.

While birdwatching seems like child’s play, it takes about 2 hours and if you’re a budding photography this could easily be 3 hours. So be ready to be on your feet for that long.

After birdwatching, head back and have breakfast, shower, gist, rest and then it’s time to head to the grotto falls.

Grotto falls is one of the many waterfalls in the mountains and probably the most famous. It has a resting point, a little pool and people often grill food there if they’re having a party. If you’re lucky, before you enter you’ll see a horse and a ride can be organized. You can have a picnic there but if you’re just there to see it, after about 20 minutes you’ll probably be itching to go. I don’t blame you, many more things await you.

One thing a lot of people don’t mention is that there are villages in the mountains and 7 of them are easily accessible. This means after grotto falls, you can do a tour of the village.

From Opaganza (banana village) to little Cape Town, you meet a variety of indigenes who are separated by streams or stones. These people are friendly. A few of them are skeptical about why you’re taking their pictures but in general they’re very welcoming. You’ll hardly pass a villager without hearing good day or ‘yangukle’.

During your walk through, make sure you buy something from them. It could be palm wine, bananas, ube (purple pear), corn, etc but by doing this, you’re contributing to their economy and empowering them.

After this, it’s time to head back home and enjoy evening. Besides you need to sleep early as the next day is about to be hectic but lit!

Day 3

Day 3 is the most exciting day. You will be walking in the clouds on a mission to see the border between Cameroon and Nigeria. Make sure you wear a swimsuit underneath your hiking clothes and pack a small towel in your back pack. You’ll see why later. Also, pack some water, carry your speakers and set off with your friends. This hike is intense but my oh my it’s so worth it. The excitement when you hear you’re 1603m above sea level is honestly next to none.

After crossing this personal best, you start to notice Fulani settlements. I couldn’t believe it, settlements at the top of the mountain? We were amazed.

However what was more amazing was that we entered the first settlement and the Fulani women welcomed us like they had been expecting us. We sat on their stools, they brought out nunu (yoghurt) and some meat. It was the most thoughtful thing ever and continues to add to the notion that don’t judge a tribe by everything you hear on the news.

Even if you don’t do anything while you’re in Obudu make sure you do that. After visiting the Fulanis and you step out, you start to see the Cameroonian Mountains and if the clouds aren’t there you’ll see all of them clearly. This will be your reward for being patient.

When all this is done, you can start your descent. For an extra treat, you take a different route which leads you to beautiful waterfall that not a lot of people know of. This means you have the whole place to yourself. The waterfall forms a natural pool at the bottom and if you’re a good swimmer, you should jump into into it. Trust me it’s safe as 4 of us did it and I’m here to share the story.

If you can’t swim, stay at the top which is nicknamed the kiddies section. The water is cold but it offers such a relief from the hike you just finished. I know I said seeing the Cameroun border is your reward but I lied. This is your real reward. You’ll be shocked that you jumped into a natural pool in Nigeria. I mean you only see these things on TV.

When you think you’re done, dry off and continue back home as you still have the Holy Mountain to go to.

The Holy Mountain is named so because apparently when the missionaries first went to Obudu this was where they camped. It’s also believed that if you pray there, your prayers will get answered. We all had one thing or the other that we need sorted out so why not just give it a try.

From the top of Holy Mountain, you see the waterfall you just jumped into and if you’re in no hurry, just sit there for a few minutes and soak in the beauty and magic that mountains and clouds create when they are put together; God is really the master artist.

It then starts to dawn on you that your time at Obudu is coming to an end. With a bit of sadness, you start to head back to your cabin but on the bright side, you’ll have a bonfire and barbeque which is the tradition.

The bonfire is filled with barbecued food from corn to plantain, ram to chicken. Drinks are flowing, music is blaring, spirits are high and it’s a way to end your Obudu trip with a bang.

The next day at 6am you depart to catch that 1.50 flight back to Lagos from Enugu airport.
You leave with memories and pictures that will last a lifetime and you’ll also be able to boast of visiting Nigeria’s famous mountain ranges.

Now this isn’t just a story I’m telling, its based on my personal experience and because I love you guys, I decided to help you get the most out of your Obudu trip.

For accommodation, I stayed in a private cabin owned by the Obudu Conservation Centre. They are independent of the resort and their job is to protect the wildlife and plants on those mountains. I highly recommend their cabins as they give a vantage view and they are literally in the clouds. They all come with kitchens for each cabins, heaters in each room and a generator.

Holler at them or me and we can hook you up.
So my question is, when are you off to Obudu?

Dream chasing is a sport for the ambitious and perseverant – People who do not mind starting from humble beginnings, people willing to cross over tough hurdles to reach a prized finish line. Sometimes dream chasing is not about humble beginnings, sometimes it is about moving from one spot, which could be a top spot, to a preconceived new altitude. Even the highly placed ones chase dreams.

TV show host, Victoria Eze popularly know as Miz Vick has been in this sport of dream chasing since she was a child. As a child she nursed tall and wild dreams. She said, “I have always been someone who wanted to do a lot of things.” She initially wanted to be a doctor because she felt it would allow her help people. This led her to study Medical Physiology in the University of Lagos (UNILAG) where she graduated from in 2011.

Her pursuit led her to the 9-5 world where she worked as a sales and marketing representative of multinationals like MTN and Lux. She explained that she built a network of contacts in her product sales and marketing engagements that became useful when she decided to step her foot in the media field. She said, “I was trying to get my foot in the media industry and Silverbird Television gave me my first media experience. I had built a network that I leveraged on during my transition into the media industry.”

In Silverbird, she worked in the productions department and she was just around the screens but never on it. She continued this routine until the Hip TV job came in 2015. She was commissioned as a Red Carpet Host which brought her out to the glare. She said, “I just woke up and found myself in front of the camera.” For her it was new experience. Not just that she is new to being on the screens but also because the job was different from her previous experience on the 9-5 routine. As a Red Carpet Host her services were needed per event.

Music/RadioAlbum Review: MI Abaga – Yung Dxnzl by mantosa(op): 11:37am On Aug 28, 2018
Never in the history of the Nigerian rap game have we seen a passionate and egoistic rapper dazzle in their craft like Jude Abaga, alias MI Abaga. The man has gone on to perform on world and African stages and ascended the ranks at foremost entertainment and record company, Chocolate City. He has even had the younger generation on his back in recent times, supporting rap and music creatives. His last body of work ‘Rendezvous’ had unknown features, mostly unestablished artists whose fame were mostly appreciated on SoundCloud. He followed his previous path on ‘A study on self worth’ by not recruiting the big boys and girls on his features. ’Yxng Dxnzl’ boasts of 10 songs with guest appearances from Tay Iwar, Niyola, Odunsi the engine, Cina soul, Patrickxxlee, Lady Donli, Lorine Chia, Caryn Solomon.

Here is a track by track thought on MI’s 8th project:

https://i0.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/images-2.jpeg

Do you know who you are? Take some time and meditate on you (featuring Tay Iwar)

This track opens with Tay Iwar’s wavy vocals. His vocals led up to MI’s rhyming and lyrical poetry. MI’s strength to calm the waters on low-tempo instrumentals was evident as the man switched to prayerful bars on his last verse.

Last night I had a dream about a hummingbird

The opening to a song preaching life lessons is probably the best we will hear on this project. The rich instrumental of synchs of drums and sticks has MI passing his message across to his attentive audience that may need it in a world of comparison and inferiority complex. This is one of the shortest rap songs ever made. Caryn Solomon’s voice on the interlude is everything and more.

You rappers should fix up your lives

MI Abaga will never stop giving you this song – he gave it to his fans and fellow rappers on ‘Rendezvous’. MI took bouts of backlash for this song. MI brags about his infinity and relevance to the rap scene and made controversial statements about South African rappers stealing the shine from Nigerian rappers.

Another thing! Do not be a groupie

The issue with loyalty in the music industry was called out here – backstabbers, discontentment. MI’s intelligence in using Chocolate City as a case study comes at a time when the scope of its artists and potency is being put into doubt. MI Abaga rapped about his family and reaffirmed his loyalty for them on the two-note production.

Stop never second guess yourself (featuring Cina soul)

A project isn’t always complete without the support of women and ladies. MI’s encouraging and self-appearance on this track was augmented by the descending vocals of Cina. Mr. Incredible also stan our Queens.

You are like melody, my heart skips a beat (featuring Lorine Chia)

I must admit, we didn’t need MI’s lovey-dovey lines here because Lorine’s vocal is the sweetest about this track.

+- (featuring Lady Donli and Odunsi the engine)

MI’s confessions are spread all over his lines. ‘Positive, negative’ is MI’s introduction to the two sides of existence. It’s difficult to skip this track as MI recruits two of the best vocalists in Odunsi, with Lady Donli topping the icing on the cake to create MI’s vulnerable material.

I believe in me, you should too, believe in you

MI Abaga brags about the best and dopest in his genre. MI even made references to the greatest in his genre. It feels to me like he is forcing the fact down the fans’ throats. I reckon this is too hard but yes, we love it. This track also shows he accepted the trap evolution in rap as noticed in his rhythm and flow.

The self evaluation of Yung Dxnzl (featuring Niyola)

This is one track I don’t reckon with – cockiness, lack of depth, the hook. I believe MI was not conversant with his lines. It could have come with a different hook, at least. Okay, I don’t like this. Niyola’s superwoman ability came late as MI had been drowned in his depressed flows.

Love never fails, but where there are prophecies love will cease to remain (featuring Tay Iwar and Patrickxxlee)

Tay Iwar’s ability on hooks and verses was exploited by MI again as the project rounded up. MI Abaga let the men have their fun as his own vocals laid siege at the bass line.

OVERALL RATING: 8.0/10

Art, Graphics & VideoSee Talented Artist Practicing Activism With His Paintings by mantosa(op): 5:28pm On Aug 24, 2018
On the 11th of May, 2018, the Art Twenty-One studio stationed in Eko Hotel & Suites, hosted a mini-art festival. Actually it was an art exhibition but it was too much quality of art for one man, (even though I know there’s no such thing). Ibe Ananaba was the artist whose works were on wall and his paintings were enough to bring together a mixed audience of Nigerians and foreigners to wow at the beauty of art – his art work themed, “Long Drawn Shadows.”

Music/RadioMeet King Perryy, Timaya's New Signee by mantosa(op): 10:46am On Aug 21, 2018
“You must decide early, the kind of artist you want to be. Don’t write music you think people want to hear. You should please yourself first and always.”

These were the words of Agwu Obinna, an experienced music talent manager and it was clarity; clarity to my confusion with artists who switch their sounds for increased commercial success. I have seen talented artists abandon the core elements of their art and confuse it for evolution.

I know of an artist whose music used to have the essentials of rhyme and poetry until he made a dance-focused pop song which became big; he released another pop song and it did well. With this new sound, he spent the next three years searching for another big break song which has remained elusive and his occasional rap outputs were so sketchy that even his earliest fans weren’t buying it. It became clear that he got lost and like Ari Herstand said, he has forgotten which way is up. It is choosing to be the spice of the moment over being the flavour of a lifetime.

It was with this understanding that King Perryy shared his scripted plan to grow as an Afro-dance hall artist like his tutor, Timaya who signed him to DM Records. Choosing to stick to making Afro Dance Hall music is like signing to be an outlier because pop music is a more appealing option to artists as it commands a wider range of music audience. Just like it is in the pages of the history books, pop music has welcomed more artists than Dancehall music has in Nigeria but the likes of Timaya, Patoranking managed to rise, in their respective classes, to prominence and King Perryy is traveling that lane.

Fashion5 Types Of Classy Ladies Lipstick Colour by mantosa(op): 10:14am On Aug 21, 2018
There is no doubt that wearing a lipstick can add to a woman’s confidence and speaks a lot about her person. There are different lipstick colours for different occasions and purpose, they should be picked wisely and carefully.

Imagine a lady wearing a boring outfit, and then decides to put a lipstick on, she automatically becomes transformed into a diva mood and springs up a whole lot of sophistication.

Makeup artist cannot deny the essence of a ‘good’ lipstick, and one with a beautiful colour as it brightens up the face and says ‘hello here I am’. Lipsticks range from Matte, which is usually non glossy and dry to glossy ones, which involves so much shine. Lipsticks come in different colours and are worn, depending on the look you are trying to achieve.

Here are 5 types of classic lipstick colours that are evergreen:

RED LIPSTICK

https://i2.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/images-8.jpeg

This is one of my favourite and I am sure it is for most ladies. It is for the bold, trendy and daring ladies that want to make a presence. Red coloured lipstick brings any outfit alive, and contrary to what people think that one cannot wear it to work, I beg to differ as it can be worn anywhere but in moderation. If you want to attend a party or an event, you can wear it more, but can be worn lightly to work and church.

PINK LIPSTICK

https://i0.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/images-4.jpeg

This is another beautiful one, but bear in mind that there are different shades and you have to pick the one that best suits your complexion. Pink is girlie, lovely and pretty. It can be worn anywhere as well, depending on the look you are going for.

BROWN

https://i0.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/images-7.jpeg

There are different shades of brown, but we would talk about the light brown colour. It is natural, beautiful, not overly in your face kind of colour, and can be worn with any outfit or to any event. It can also fit any skin colour and can be worn lightly or heavy.

NUDE COLOURS

https://i1.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/images-5.jpeg

This one includes colours that are mild and pale. This can be worn to a party contrary to what people might think that it is too mild. It can be worn heavy or if worn light, the eye shadow comes out more conspicuous. Wearing a heavy eye shadow and lipstick can be a disaster, so when people want to get a bold eye coloured eye shadow; they tone down the lips with a nude colour.

PURPLE

https://i1.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/images-3.jpeg

This colour seems not to be as popular or often used as the rest, but is still a classic lip colour because of its bold, unique and beautiful outcome, no matter the shade you pick. It stands out.

PoliticsBuhari New Media Center (BNMC) Launched by mantosa(op): 11:29am On Aug 15, 2018
I just saw a tweet by President Buhari's new media aide, Bashir where he hinted on the launch of Buhari New Media Center.

Questions I have to ask:

1. Where will their running budget come from?

2. Is Buhari president of Nigeria or a select few?

Don't forget this Bashir was also listed as a stakeholder to the 67MillionYouths

PoliticsArmy Habits Die Hard As Nigeria's Buhari Defies Court Orders - Bloomberg by mantosa(op): 7:35pm On Jul 30, 2018
When a Nigerian high court ruled this month that a former national security adviser should be freed on bail, it was the sixth such judgment since his detention in 2015. Authorities haven’t obeyed a single one.

For critics of President Muhammadu Buhari, he’s picking and choosing which judgments to comply with, a stance that stirs uncomfortable echoes of his days as a military ruler in the 1980s. His government defends his actions as necessary to combat graft in the oil-rich West African country of almost 200 million people, a pledge that was key to Buhari’s victory in a 2015 vote -- and now to his hopes of re-election next year.

Muhammadu BuhariPhotographer: Brendan Smialowski/AFP via Getty Images
“There is no constitutional basis whatsoever for disobeying a court order,” said Ernest Ojukwu, a professor of human rights and criminal law. “This is about impunity.”

Buhari, 75, has complained that judicial niceties are getting in the way of his graft war. After ousting an elected government on New Year’s Eve in 1983, he ruled by decree, combining executive and legislative powers. Military tribunals were set up to try allegedly corrupt politicians, some of whom were sentenced to hundreds of years.

After Buhari’s overthrow 20 months later, almost all the sentences were quashed by the courts or nullified by his successors. But through his actions he began to acquire the anti-corruption reputation that helped get him elected three decades on. The next vote will be in February.

High-Profile Detainees

Arguably the most high-profile detainee is Sambo Dasuki, once a security adviser to Buhari’s predecessor Goodluck Jonathan. Charged with offenses related to money laundering and diverting money supposed to be used to buy arms to fight Islamist militant group Boko Haram, Dasuki has been held for three years as bail orders, including from an Economic Community of West African States court, have been ignored.

He’s not the only one. A leader of Nigeria’s Shi’ite community, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife have been held by state security forces since 2015, also in defiance of court orders for bail. Prior to his arrest, Nigerian troops are alleged to have killed more than 300 of his followers and buried them in mass graves in the aftermath of clashes between some Shi’ites and soldiers accompanying an army chief’s convoy.

The treatment has extended to journalists. Jones Abiri, based in the southern city of Yenagoa, was arrested by secret police in July 2016, accused of involvement in the sabotage of crude oil pipelines by militants in the Niger River delta.

Visits Denied

Abiri was arraigned last week and taken back into the custody of the secret police after failing to meet “stringent” bail conditions, his lawyer, Femi Falana, said in response to a text message. His hearing is scheduled to begin on Aug. 2, he said.

Before the arraignment, the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists had expressed concern that the reporter hadn’t been seen in public, charged nor allowed visits from lawyers or family members.

Successive democratic governments in Nigeria, where military rule ended in 1999, have tended to disobey court orders, said Ojukwu. “The trend diminished drastically under late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua (in office from 2007 until he died in 2010) and it’s been a growing trend again since then,” he said.

Contacted on the recent cases and allegations, Justice Ministry spokesman Salihu Othman Isah referred to a July 19 article published by Premium Times, in which minister Abubakar Malami was quoted as saying that it was in the public’s interest that court orders to grant Dasuki bail were ignored.

Buhari recently signed an executive order that empowers him to request the seizure of assets linked to ongoing criminal investigations or trials, a move critics say is unconstitutional and meant to undermine the courts. The Justice Ministry has defended that order as needed to consolidate the gains made in the war against corruption.

“It gives the executive the power to clamp down on corrupt individuals and their ill-gotten acquisitions,” ministry spokesman Isah said in a response to questions sent by text message. He dismissed criticism, saying “it’s corruption that is fighting back.”

‘Usurping’ Powers

The main opposition People’s Democratic Party has accused Buhari of seeking to “usurp” both legislative and judicial powers in order to target his perceived opponents.

He “wants to change our democratic governance to a military regime, in line with his lamentation that the fight against corruption will be better under a military regime than under a democracy,” the party, which lost power in 2015, said in a July 6 statement.

The refusal to heed the courts, “is consistent with the government’s disregard for the judicial system,” said Chidi Odinkalu, chairman of the human rights council of the Nigerian Bar Association. “The executive simply ignores orders it doesn’t like.”

BusinessRe: Wrong Bank Transaction, How Can I reverse it by mantosa(m): 2:37pm On Jul 17, 2018
I don't think this applies here.

She actually said she made a transaction to a wrong account number. Apparently it was successful. The only way she can get the money is if the owner of the said account withdraws and pays her back, I think.

dominique:
No need to panic, the cash is hanging somewhere. In some cases it is auto-reversed, in other cases you have to apply for a reversal. I had similar issue last year and I mesaaged the bank on their Verified facebook handle to find out why my recipient is yet to get her money. It was then I was told that the recipient's account number doesn't match with the bank I picked. They requested for the bank name and helped me complete the transaction. HealthSandra Okeke: “Lifting Weights Won’t Make You Look Manly” by mantosa(op): 1:07pm On Jul 17, 2018
“Lifting Weights Won’t Make You Look Manly” – Female Fitness Instructor (PICS)

Lifting weights is the best thing I’ve ever done for my body.

The idea that a girl starts looking like a man as soon as she picks up a dumbbell scares a lot of women away from the gym.

This is probably why I see women perform a 30-minute sprint on the stationary treadmill/ bicycle or an aerobic activity, and call it a day.

99% of my clients are women and the look on their faces when I ask them to do certain weighted exercises is hilarious! One of my female clients told me she wouldn’t do a cable machine lat pull down (back exercise) because it was ‘a man’s exercise’. I’d never been so dumbfounded in my life!

Now, let me break it down. The science behind fitness and our bodies makes it almost impossible for a woman to have excessive muscle to the point where she looks like a stereotypical female bodybuilder solely because she lifts weights. Here are the reasons why.

Physiology

Both men and women produce testosterone which is essential for hormonal balance and body functionality but males have much higher levels of testosterone than females.

Testosterone is responsible for the masculine secondary sex characteristics like excess facial hair, deeper voice, and increase in muscle mass. A woman’s body is usually incapable of producing enough testosterone to enable her look like a man. So it will take a lot of years, a LOT of heavy weights, and a lot of steroid-based drugs to push a woman’s body over her natural limit.

Resistance Training and Hormonal Adaptations

Because females have less free testosterone than males at rest, any increase is not significant enough to allow for muscle hypertrophy to the extent of a male.

Nutrition

Another secret lies within the realm of nutrition. In order to gain substantial amounts of muscle, you need to be eating a substantial amount of food. Because females are typically smaller than males in bone mass, we require less overall calories to meet our energy needs.

If a male and a female were put in the same nutrition and training regime, the female would most likely gain a large amount of unwanted fat.

Weightlifting actually makes your muscles STRONGER, not necessarily BIGGER

If you pump yourself full of testosterone and eat way more calories than you are burning every day, sure, you could get bigger. This is why female body builders exist. They do exactly that: BODY BUILDING.

However, if you pick up heavy things, and eat caloric-deficit foods, your muscles will get stronger and denser; you will burn the fat on top of your muscle, and you will get that “toned” look that you’re after. And the more muscle, the higher your metabolism.

Masculinization in females does NOT occur as a result of [heavy] weight training, but rather because of excess androgenic hormones (testosterone) coupled with the correct stimulus for muscle growth (chronic resistance training) and diet directed at muscle growth.

The ‘masculine’ female bodybuilders usually depicted in media achieve their physique by taking steroids in order to increase their muscle mass and size. The females who are not doing this can lift as hard and as heavy as they want, and will come nowhere close to looking like a man.

So ladies don’t be afraid of going to the gym to lift weights. You will tone up your body and still look sexy as ever.

Live your best life and remember to stay SOfit!

BusinessFive Success Tips For Startups by mantosa(op): 7:29am On Jul 17, 2018
Startups are faced with numerous business challenges which they have little or no solutions to, first time entrepreneurs are mostly novices who may have knowledge of how to run a business from books, materials and consultants they have come in contact with before going into business.

Entrepreneurs with good experience in an industry can run startups better than a first timer who is not fully prepared for the task ahead. In as much as entrepreneurship success brings fulfillment and sense of accomplishment, its failures can also dampen self esteem and also cause frustration. Below are few tips that can fast-track startups success:

Acquire the required knowledge and information

Ignorance is the top reason that is responsible for the failure of startups; this has caused many entrepreneurs to be highly ineffective even when their venture is a goldmine. Startup owners should prepare themselves with the necessary knowledge and information needed to start and sustain a business before venturing into it.

Use a mentor

It is hard to get things right and succeed quickly without looking up to someone for guidance and direction. Mentors are people with experience and knowledge; they can be very helpful when advice is needed especially during times that critical decisions are to be made.

Spread the words

It is of great importance to inform your immediate circle of what your business is. When the people around you understand the product or service of your startup, it will influence them to patronize or refer others to you.

Master the art of selling

Sales is the sole sustainer of business, if businesses don’t sell, closing of operations will be imminent. When an entrepreneur can sell at the startup stage, he will be able to increase his revenue if he is passionate about the business.

Control cost

At this stage, costs are normally higher than revenues, this makes the startup difficult to run but when efficiency is employed and costs are minimized, break even can be easily achieved and revenues can then be recorded.

Fashion5 Types Of Hair Cut For The Fashion Conscious Man; Old School Is The New School by mantosa(op): 1:58pm On Jul 04, 2018
A hair cut can be as classy as how you make it. Men get in here! This is as important as your clothing, so if you are ready to look fly say I’m in! It’s all about the man being classy and not the hair style, yet a man must know the hairstyle that fits your face and personality. A good hair cut can go a long way in defining a man’s face and giving him that dapper look.

Men please do not ignore the essence of a good hair cut, it speaks volume about your profession, mood and your overall confidence and style.

Follow me into the journey on how to look dope with your hair cut

BALD HEAD

https://i0.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/unnamed.jpg

This is not a bad hairstyle, contrary to some people’s views as most people squint at this hairstyle, because they feel it is for the older generation and is boring. Trust me you can pull this off if you are tall, have a toned body, and confident. This is for the conservative and classy man. A man that wants the focus to be on other parts of his body or probably wants to be taken seriously.

DREADS

https://i2.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/images.jpeg

I will like to correct the saying that says . ‘ this guy wearing dreads is not responsible joor’. Dreads are cool, nice, beautiful, and one could look responsible with it, it all depends on how the hair is being packaged for the occasion or event. If you work in a corporate world, go for short dreads and pack it up nicely i.e if your boss allows that kind of hair style. Either way, keep the dreads clean, smart and classy. I wouldn’t do bright colours of dreads If I were you though.

CORNROLLS

https://i1.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/images-1.jpeg

It is not only women that slay corn rolls, men has worn this type of hair and still are wearing it. If you must do corn rolls, be it with extensions or your natural hair. Make sure you are not timid when wearing this hairstyle. It has to be neat, woven small not too big because that will steal the shine of the hair. Confidence is key. Do not weave your hair and dress rough, because it only makes you look rough and untidy, and people will say. ‘This is just a tout’ we don’t want that to be us, do we? so slay consciously.

AFRO

https://i1.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Spiky-Haircuts-For-Men-and-Black-Men-Afro-Style.jpg

This is an all-time favourite from way back. This screams free spirited and a hip personality. It can be done mildly and not over the top. Trust me, you do not want to go out with people thinking you are untidy with the hair overgrown. Make sure this hair suits your face, personality, this is not about the hair growing, make sure it doesn’t grow out of proportion, it has to be controlled, managed and put together by a professional. Bear in mind that you still have to trim, shape and cut.

MOHAWK

https://i0.wp.com/tushmagazine.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/unnamed-1.jpg

This is known for its unique style. The hair is shaved by the sides, leaving hair at the middle. It was trending in the past, Who else will like to see men rock this hair style more? Definitely me. It’s trendy, attractive, cool, can be done in a sophisticated way. This is just a plea that we are tired of boring, normal, every day hair cut, which the classy man has nothing to do with. Bear in mind that a professional should be the one to hook you up with any of these hairstyles with your preference at heart, we don’t want people mistaking you for a serial killer. All in one let your inner fashion self-show, be adventurous and enjoy playing around with haircuts.

SportsCan VAR Technology Save The World Of Football? by mantosa(op): 1:27pm On Jun 20, 2018
VAR Technology: Can it save football?

This is an interesting argument that encompasses clashing ideas of modern football. The first describes a form of amusement that needs strong rules in order to thrive, the second has a more traditional idea of sport with the most important objective being victory.

In a normal match of football, referees have to be infallible. They are the dictators of an oppressive regime – their decision is always right, regardless of how bizzare that decision is. Everyone knows Maradona used his hand to score in the quarter-finals of World Cup 1986, but officially, according to FIFA, he used his head, because the referee said so. Moreover like a dictator, this particular amount of power can lead to paranoia: any time a player confides with him, the referee doesn’t know he’s doing the right thing so because the player is trying to cheat the system or because the referee has genuinely made a hugely embarrassing blunder that will get them lambasted online and TV houses countdowns for years and generations to come.

VAR technology was trialed during some matches in the 2017/2018 season; Referees use of video replays caused controversies while apparently ensuring correct decisions were made, they disrupted the flow of the match and even denied fans the chance to properly celebrate a goal. For some, this was too much technology. For others, however, it was not enough.

VAR could conceivably rule out (inevitable) oversight on the part of officials. It might help to reduce dangerous tackles within the game. Extending video technology to incidents where the punishments could be substantial seems logical. But it is also against one of the main principles of VAR: solely the fact that it is used for decisions not dependable to interpretation.

When a referee knows he is capable of reviewing a decision, it becomes unnecessarily less arbitrary. At this point, everyone has more faith in the system, so there are fewer frustrated mistakes, and less of a need for a referee to stamp their authority on the game. That’s borne out by the stats: with no red cards in the matches, this will officially be the cleanest talking point about the round leather sport in ages

VAR allows referees to be full of defective, and in doing so promotes a loosely fresh idea – that it’s totally okay for an authority frame to change their mind when presented with reformed information. In recent politics, politicians and pundits are worshipped with picking a position and steadfastly sticking to it – any admission of adamancy or fallibility is leapt on as a sign of vulnerability. That’s why FIFA thinks there is a dividend in the hosting rights proposed by USA, Mexico and Canada even when it was proven otherwise.

In a strange way, VAR (Video Assistant referee) shows us that there’s strength and that in the near future, people will owe up to mistakes. If the fans will stop equating them with fragile reeks and allow everyone to admit that they are human, the football world will have a less divided, less angry fan base. Conclusively, we can make our loved game a paradise of VARanium.

Fashion5 Beauty Accessories A Man Should Have Always by mantosa(op): 9:46am On Jun 15, 2018
It’s no surprise that men are coming up when it comes to taking proper care of themselves, and so you know, they have beauty needs. Men are more aware these days about clear skin, proper hygiene and looking good. Women definitely top the chat when it comes to beauty needs but men are coming on strong, well some men. In case you are a man already in the know about beauty necessities thumbs up, if you have no clue, sit back, relax and take notes. This article will be helpful to you.

Let us correct the thinking that men who take care of themselves are too feminine or jobless. If you want to attract good company or a great business deal as well as a listening ear, you sure need to step up your game. However, there are basic accessories every man should have in handy. This is not fancy, but essential both for hygiene and beauty, and will definitely make a change in your life big time.

FACIAL POCKET TISSUE

This is commonly used by women for any cleaning emergency but men need it too, you still find some men picking their noses or having extreme oily skin. Why not make your life easier by keeping some tissue in the pocket. It doesn’t have to be fancy as you can equally get some out of your regular tissue paper, in case you do not have the small ones.

The pocket tissue can be used to wipe phones, surfaces or your sunglasses, if you wear one.

HAND CREAM

The use of hand cream cannot be over emphasised. Most men have really tough and dry skin, and need to use a hand cream from time to time. To some men it’s too feminine to have a hand cream, but it is not proper to have ashy hands either. Why not pop a small cute bottle of hand cream in your car or pocket and someone would be glad you shook their hand, besides you do not want to be tagged unkempt or rough.

HAND SANITIZER

This is not much of a beauty accessory rather a health one. The palm tends to touch so many dirty surfaces without knowing, men can be very clumsy and unbothered about where they place their hand, they also use that same hand to grab a snack. Why not save yourself from catching infection, getting germs into your food, or even using a dirty hand to rub your face by getting a hand sanitizer. It comes in really small sizes that can fit into your pocket and bigger ones for your car.

LIPBALM

This is so good even if most of us forget to keep our lips moisturized. There is nothing as annoying as moving around with chapped lips when you could prevent it by carrying a lip balm in your pocket since some of them come in small sizes. For that perfect date, guys rub that lip balm on your lips, during that cold weather, or when your lips just feels so dry, lip balm to the rescue. It can be bought according to preference as there are different flavours to pick from.

PERFUMES, COLOGNE OR BODY SPRAY

This is a very important one as some men sweat and tend to get body odour or an unpleasant smell. Let’s say you want to stop over at a friend’s place for dinner and you are not going home to take a shower, then you might need to spray your favourite perfume or body spray. Smelling good is good business!!, yes I invented that. But seriously, nobody likes a stinky smell, and with hot climates areas like Africa, deliberate actions need to be put to ensure a nice smelling body. You might not need to carry the whole bottle, as there are little bottle perfumes one can carry around.

Life taught me.

My alarm goes off every morning at 5:25am…
At the grilling sound of my dainty clock, I roll over in my bed to the ardent voice of Toke Makinwa on the radio.

Jesus.

I will never get used to this. I almost want to laugh out loud.

Then life kicks in.

I am a 24-year-old young lady. Single. Living In Victoria Island, Lagos with bills longer than Nicki Minaj’s inches.

But I am still living because… what is life?

Okurrrrrrrrrrrrtttttt!

I immediately jump out of my bed with a new zeal, I have been unemployed for 2months now after quitting my last slave trade job, I was working with a well-known multinational, I had a good salary, it was steady, I attended the best cocktails, took part in top notch training programmes, I had HMO that was good, and I paid my taxes (no Foxy brown here) life was ok.

Then my MD wanted to get some of my juice, constantly badgering me for sexual favours… long story short it ended in me reporting him to immigration and me losing my job in the process with a ‘good settlement’

Hello Sex and the city.

Well sex in this case is relative because I haven’t been drilled in 6months and counting.

Sigh.

Anyway, it’s a new day and I have a job interview… the final stage if I might add with the HR and its to discuss salary and the whole package.

I head to my bathroom to wash up as I quickly turn on my JBL speakers to the soothing voice of Taya Smith, (Hillsongs United) she is everything and she just got married to the Love of her life and the ceremony was Arghhhhh!

Beautiful!

No, I did not attend. Who am I to know Taya Smith?!

I scoff at my reflection in the mirror. As I notice the persistent zit on the left side of my face has reduced and for some weird reason my skin is glowing, I take off my bonnet and my natural hair is puffier and shinier than usual.

What is going on here?

Health6 Simple Ways Of Whitening Your Teeth At Home by mantosa(op): 8:09am On Jun 07, 2018
Don’t you just want a gleaming smile that makes every one stop and stare, yet do not have money to achieve that. Well there is hope for you. Clear white teeth is a must for everyone, yes more paramount to some than others, yet clean teeth can open doors of opportunities for some certain jobs, cleanliness and good hygiene is considered. Better still, prevention is better than cure as one can prevent getting brown teeth by brushing twice a day, using good fluoride and whitening toothpaste, drinking lots of water, floss in-between teeth daily, visit your dentist at least twice in a year.

Avoid too much sugar intake, this can cause bacteria build up. Diet rich in calcium can make the teeth healthy, strong and prevent teeth from turning yellow. It isn’t rocket science to get the perfect smile. Remember, when you are not using the expensive lasers, good results tend to be slower, so be patient.

Come take a ride with me as we dive into 6 ways to whiten your teeth at home with little expense

The use of Baking soda

This is present in some whitening toothpaste, but can also be used on its own. It is a mild abrasive that can help scrub away surface stains. Bear in mind that there are different kind of stains, as this product might work for some more than others. There is alkaline present in this product that prevents bacteria from growing in the mouth. Baking soda has been proven to remove yellow stains and plague from the teeth.

Put 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a container, add 2 tea spoons of water. Mix till you have a pasty consistency, then brush the teeth with your toothbrush and rinse with clean water.

This can be done few times a week.

The use of hydrogen peroxide

This is known as a bleaching agent and can kill bacteria in the mouth, it can be used as a mouthwash, do not forget to dilute with water or mix with baking soda to form a whitening paste. Studies have shown that using toothpaste containing hydrogen peroxide and baking soda can give whiter teeth.

The use of apple cider and vinegar

This has been used for centuries and known for as a cleansing, detoxifying, disinfecting agent. Acetic acid is the main ingredient contained in apple cider and vinegar, this is good for killing bacteria. You can use this product as a mouth wash, therefore cleaning and whitening the teeth. The more you see it, the better the effect.

As apple cider has a bleaching agent, vinegar softens the teeth. Acetic acid eats into the teeth while whitening therefore this product should be used maximum twice a week. When using as a mouthwash, make sure you dilute with water, and then use clean water to rinse thoroughly.

Pineapples

Did somebody scream yummy!? Did somebody say how come? Well it is very possible as fruits and vegetables have been used and proven to whiten the teeth. As you chew to nourish your body, your teeth are getting whiter. Also bear in mind that it is not a one off thing.

Eat fruits often people. Crunchy raw fruits and vegetables can help rub off plaque as you chew. Toothpaste containing Brome lain, an enzyme found in pineapples is effective in whitening the teeth than regular toothpaste.

Activated charcoal

This is a black powdery product also used as cleaning agents for so many things, this can be used to whiten teeth and pull out toxins in the mouth, while removing stains from the teeth.

This can be used few times a week. Use with toothbrush, brush and then rinse.

The use of coconut oil

Coconut oil is not just for body treatment and beautification but also for whitening teeth, Oh yes. Lauric acid is the main ingredient in coconut oil, in fact makes up 50 % of the oil. Lauric acid and Monolaurin can kill harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses in the body. As a matter of fact, health benefits of coconut oil are mainly caused by Lauric acid. Oil pulling is the whitening process that is adopted when using coconut oil, this process started in India.

Oil pulling is simply swishing oil in your mouth 15 to 20 minutes and then spitting it out. That is not difficult if you ask me. In order words it’s like using oil as a mouthwash. Do not forget to brush with toothpaste when you are done. This can be done few times in a week or according to preference.

REMEMBER PATIENCE GUYS!

Very right but can you also put away political sentimental? The post clearly didnt mention Saraki, you also confirmed that in your post as well. So why bringing Saraki in? Why not invited the Governor or his Chief of Staff?

obailala:
That notwithstanding, the post he just made clearly isn't nonsense if only you can put away your political sentiments when viewing it.

Whilst we can say the captured robbers were not sent by the governor to go rob a bank, a fact is that the guys clearly have an established link with the governor of the state; they are political thugs and hatchet 'good boys' of the governor and their arms and vehicles were obviously gifted to them by the governor to execute his dirty deals (a very common phenomenon in Nigerian politics).

This is a fact that cannot be wished away sentimentally simply because we think Saraki and his boy (the governor) have a battle with the president, or because the Op is a Buhari supporter.
