Most waiters end low, they make more from tips and extortion when you are drunk. Bouncers - under security. He does maintenance twice in a year when he renovates. Every other maintenance are now expensive. I know how club business run. Shina Peller is cashing out. |

In Nigeria, the ‘Ajebutters’ and ‘Ajekpakos’ are very different when it comes to taste. The ‘Ajebutters’ are particular about style and poise while the ‘Ajekpakos’ are fine with anything so long it works. It is this same approach when it comes to seeking entertainment. Imported trends like ‘Dab’ or ‘Dougie’ are common in the circle of ‘Ajebutters’ while the ‘Ajekpakos’ are masters of dances like Shaku Shaku. However, Shaku Shaku has become more than a class-based dance, it is become a dance for everyone – both the ‘Ajebutters’ and ‘Ajekpakos’ are dancing Shaku Shaku. In fact it has been described as the dance causing people of all societal class to ‘lose their home trainings.’ It is a trend that has spread across the entire space of the Nigerian society and concentrated at the centre where our music is produced – the music industry. The origin of the trend itself can be traced to the streets of Lagos mainland where it became associated with songs like ‘Legbegbe’ and ‘Shepeteri.’ The ‘Shaku Shaku’ movement started in the grass root where songs by artistes like Mr. Real, Slimcase and Idowest were getting serious buzz for their wealth in elements of street pop music especially the groovy melodies and rhyming slangs in their songs. Catch lines like ‘Aboki where the naira’ turned out to be flavour for these songs and made them appealing to the street audience. With little promotional effort, these songs spread like loose gas on the street. They quickly became raw materials in the hands of DJs who used them as crowd-pleasers at parties and other functions. It didn’t take long before the ‘Shaku Shaku’ buzz started to knock on the door to the mainstream audience. The moment artistes like Olamide and Dammy Krane hopped on the growing trend, the crossover to the big league started. By the start of 2018, the contagious ‘Shaku Shaku’ fever had already spread across the entire industry and the whole country was already literally doing a common dance – the ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance. The ‘Ajebutters’ and the ‘Ajekpakos’ are both involved in the dance, albeit mainland originals usually like to maintain that there is a difference between ‘Island Shaku Shaku’ and ‘Mainland Shaku Shaku.’ However, to neutrals Shaku Shaku is Shaku Shaku so long the hand and leg movements compliments the back and forth swinging of the body in typical Shaku Shaku style. It is the biggest influence on the Nigerian pop culture in recent times. It is the dance practised at parties, at clubs and even at religious gatherings, in some cases. It is such a dominant trend in the industry today that it’s template is noticeable in literally all the pop releases including those from top shots like Wizkid and Tiwa Savage. In the history of trends in Nigeria, we have seen trends come and go like the seasons. So the story of Shaku Shaku is believed to still only be unraveling because although it’s dominance has stretched past the initial prediction, the length of its relevance remains known to only the gods. After the sizzling bromance which the two music superstars exhibited at their concerts in December 2017, the duo has continued to prove to critics that indeed all issues have been settled and infact we might be looking forward to a muisical collaboration between the two very soon. The latest affirmation of admiration for each other was Wizkid’s performance at the London concert of Davido which was held in February 2018. This same February, the two acts dropped their first official singles of 2018 and here is what we think about their starting solo musical efforts for the year 2018. DAVIDO – FLORA MY FLAWA (produced by Fresh) DMW ‘s captain and If crooner, Davido kickstarted the year with a couple of singles as a featured artist like DJ E-cool’s Ada, Larry Gaaga’s Doe, Soft’s Tattoo remix and DMW all-star single titled “Mind”. His first official single of the year is the highlife inspired “Flora My Flawa“ produced by DMW’s in-house producer – Fresh. Davido takes us back to the days of pure old skool vibes and love songs, dropping flows and lines reminiscent of what DMW’s artist Yonda would have done on the same beat. He serenades his lover with delightful wordplays and lines like “My baby na bomb, she blow me oo, was your father a soldier?, my baby na gold, my baby too dope, was your mother a dealer?” He also makes reference to artist 9ice when he said “My baby is sweet, my baby is 9ice, my baby lapomeji.” With a catchy hook and one liner where listeners can chant ‘if nothing last forever oh, me and you go by nothing forever oo’; excellent delivery and flows plus well thought out lyrics which was crowned with an exciting owambe beat by Fresh, Flora my flawa is sure an excellent effort from Davido and a very efficient diversification from the pon-pon sound which dominated Davido’s music offerings in 2017. This song goes further to show Davido’s versatility and talent and is one tune that will sure get everyone, both the old and young grooving. Davido has scored another hit with Flora my Flawa and his back to the basics campaign has no doubt been yielding fruits. Rating- 4/5 WIZKID – SOCO (produced by Northboi) After dropping the smash hit ‘Manya’ in late 2017, Wizkid resumed business in 2018 with a single titled ‘Soco’ off his forth coming ‘Made in Lagos‘ EP from his record label – Starboy Entertainment. Wizkid has been hyping Soco for weeks before the song was released and didn’t go a day without tweeting something about the song leaving fans in high spirit and expectant of what Baba nla was going to drop this time around. Eventually, Soco was released and featured relatively new names like his newly signed artist Terri, producer of Tekno’s hit single Mama by the name Spotless and Aristokrat records artist – Ceeza Milli. The tune which was produced by Northboi, another relatively new producer is said to be the first single off the ‘Made in Lagos’ EP. It can be assumed that Wizkid was merely testing waters by the release of this single. He wanted to show the world his new signing and affiliates by probably releasing ‘Soco’ as a warmup single to his other 2018 offerings. Soco falls flat on the hype and anticipation which was generated for the song. Fans were expecting another Ojuelegba or something more appealing which is typical of the Wizkid we know. With an exceptional verse from Spotless and quite appealing hook from Wizkid laced on a simple beat by Northboi, Soco comes out as an average effort from the BET international act of the year 2017. Terry and Ceeza also came prepared but Soco is not just it for most music listeners and Wizkid lovers or perhaps, an average track which didn’t live up to the heavy hype. We look forward to other musical offerings Wizkid has lined up for 2018 but Soco? Rating- 2.5/5 Source: http://tushmagazine.com.ng/review-davidos-flora-flawa-wizkids-soco/ cc Lalasticlala |
An entrepreneur should be in tune with modern trends in business, being a modern entrepreneur means knowing and following recent practices that drive success in entrepreneurship. A good business person will easily identify trending opportunities and adopt them to suit his/her own business in order to induce growth. Considering the innovations that are being introduced into major industries as a result of technological advancement, convenience and change in human relation lately, doing business have become more challenging and most entrepreneurs are constantly on their toes to deliver satisfactory result. The following are four ways to be a modern entrepreneur: Cease every opportunity to learn Learning is an activity that continues throughout one’s lifetime, an entrepreneur grows his venture easier and achieve more success if he/she acquires adequate information and utilize them accurately. As clearly stated by one of the world’s great entrepreneurs named Richard Branson the founder of Virgin Group, he said “my biggest motivation? Just to keep challenging myself. I see life almost like one long university education that I never had – every day I’m learning something new.” Have digital skills These days the tech space has made work easier. More persons can be easily reached through social media than the print and electronic media. Digital skills can be of great advantage to an entrepreneur, they help you work better and make task easier and convenient. Give value Value controls customer loyalty greatly, when an entrepreneur focus on providing the best value for his/her customers satisfactorily, the business stands a better chance of achieving faster growth. Build interpersonal relationship Events and social media have made interpersonal relation easier for modern entrepreneurs. Networking helps connect people of various backgrounds who share common interest(s). Business requires a high level of commitment in genuine and positive relationships. Hello lovelies! On today’s skin care routine, I’ll be giving tips on a very affordable and effective DIY facial mask that is essential for keeping the face smooth, acne free and discoloration free. This mask is suitable for both genders. I would recommend a patch test before applying on the skin to avoid any reaction. WHAT TO USE Egg white Milk (whole milk) DIRECTION Separate the whites from the yolk and beat it well with a fork (it will end up looking like foam) Add milk (fresh) Apply it on your freshly cleansed skin and leave it to work for 15 minutes. When you feel your skin tightening up, gently remove the mask, with a cloth soaked in warm water. Apply your moisturizer (mine is coconut oil when pores are closed) I usually close my pores by splashing cold water gently on my face. BENEFITS OF THIS MASK -For brightening and lightening of the skin. -It has astringent properties (egg white) that help shrink pores by tightening the skin. -To reduce color discoloration caused by acne -For elimination of pimples This mask is suitable for all skin types and tones. While ability is certainly a large part of making it in the music industry, the business is unfortunately often as much about who you know as it is your actual talent. In this piece we look closely at the essentials of building relationships in the music industry that will help propel you up the charts. When you first entered the music industry, you may have expected that your talents would be enough to carry you. While talent is an important part of creating a lasting career, there’s another piece that’s just as, if not more, important: who you know. While some might find that unfair or daunting, I see it as an incredible opportunity to build connection and opportunities based off friendships and human connection. The key to relationship building, is to treat it as you would any other relationship or friendship. This means giving more than you get, learning to listen, and respecting boundaries. It also means being completely genuine in your approach. If you go into it with a clear agenda of “here’s what Person A can do for me”, and view them only as a means to an end, they’ll see right through it, and you’ll almost certainly alienate them and hinder your chances at a fruitful interaction. So, where do you start when it comes to relationship building, and how do you build these connections in an honest, productive way? Make your own opportunities The first thing I want to mention is that if something isn’t going your way, if you can’t find the solution you’re looking for, it’s ok (encouraged even) to create your own. This means if there’s not a show for you to jump on because you’re a brand new artist that no one is willing to take a chance on, organize your own and use it as an opportunity to get to know other emerging bands. If you want to tour but you’re waiting for a major label to scoop you up and pay for it, stop waiting, start saving money, and begin routing your tour to make it happen yourself. The music industry is a beautiful place, but it is also complicated, messy, and at times chaotic, so if you want something that doesn’t already exist, sometimes you just have to figure out a way to make it happen yourself. Oftentimes, it’s these acts of self-reliance that end up leading to the most memorable, significant moments and connections. Attend Industry conferences and Events Conferences are a wonderful place to network. If you know there’s a certain person you want to meet while there, the best way to get in front of them is to plan ahead. Have an idea of who you want to meet, what you want to accomplish, and how you’ll go about it well before you actually get to the conference. If you can, try to set up the meeting via email before you arrive. Either way, it’s best to have your approach solidified beforehand. Then, get to know the person via past interviews, social media, etc, and see what makes them tick. By approaching them and introducing yourself, then bringing up something that interests them vs just talking about what they can do for you, you’ll capture (and keep!) their attention much longer. Utilize social media Is there anything more convenient for the introverted musician than social media? It’s the perfect way to get in front of new people and build relationships, without ever having to leave the house. While some of the simpler tactics apply here—follow people you want to get to know on social media, interact with their posts with comments, etc, are valid, I want to introduce you to one of my absolute favorite ways to network online, and that is through Facebook Groups. Join these groups, introduce yourself, and then take a few minutes each day to peruse the groups that resonate most with you and see where you can chime in. Is someone asking a question that you know the answer to? Are they asking for advice that you could be helpful on? This is a great opportunity to employ that “give more than you take” strategy I mentioned earlier. The more people see your name pop up in a group, offering helpful, informative advice, the more they’ll begin to think of you as someone trustworthy, knowledgeable and yes, worth checking out/following. By being a constant presence in these groups, you’ll begin to find a new group of followers and supporters to help you navigate and grow your career. Not to mention, you’ll come across some truly profound advice for advancing your career! Get involved with your local scene One of the best ways to really get in front of people is to take advantage of your local scene. Go to shows, talk to the other bands, get to know the people in the audience, and you’ll start to develop a sense of community. Many times, the same people will attend the same shows (i.e. the same crowd goes to the Tuesday open mic) so the more you show up, the more familiar faces you’ll see, and just like I mentioned with Facebook groups above, the more people begin to trust and recognize you, and the more embedded in the community you become. This means you get invited to more shows, events, and opportunities. Likewise, if your city has a meet up, get out there and attend it! Face to face interaction is still one of the absolute best ways to make a strong impression and build relationships. But if there’s not? Start your own meetup! It doesn’t have to be huge, even just a few interested people meeting regularly to talk shop about the music industry and support one another is enough to begin building a strong foundation. Trust me, before long you’ll see that meet up grow, and with it, your network. Ask for an introduction Is there someone you’d love to talk to, but just can’t seem to get a response from? The music industry is relatively small, so if you don’t have a personal connection to the person you want to get in front of, and you’ve done your due diligence thus far with relationship building, odds are you know someone who can do that intro for you. Don’t abuse this by constantly asking for intros, but trust that an email intro from a mutual acquaintance is far more likely to get a response than a cold email from someone they don’t know. Have you ever had all the finest gold and diamonds? The finest cars and accessories? The wealthiest business of all time and just like a flash of lightning; You lost it all. Down to the drain, back to the darkest tunnel and slowly sliding out of existence. This is Matthew Peterson, One of the finest and wealthiest oil mogul walking slowly towards the beach – for a peace of mind or a peace out of existence. *************** It was a wee-wee blasting sound in the middle of the express road, cars and motors started clearing their way for the finest fleet of cars with tinted glasses to move through. Though, it was clearly written on people’s forehead that the sound was very irritating and annoying to the ears and they felt dehumanized to having to clear their way. But whose problem was that? If you want to have security bulletproof cars, go hustle for your own money or keep quiet and let the elite pass. They own the society you live in. As they move through, a familiar looking expensive jeep had the plate number of Engr. Matthew Peterson (don’t ask why there wasn’t a number instead), If you want your name customized, go do it, If you don’t have the money and connection, then keep quiet and manage your plate number which took you so much stress to have or better still keep walking with your patched slippers and admire the beauty of the vehicle as you walk in the tarred road constructed by Engr Matthew Peterson. *************** Matthew Peterson lay in the comfort of his luxurious bed sipping some wine and flipping through today’s paper. He had a selfish grin, nodding repeatedly as he admired his front page full photo of him celebrating his achievements on his birthday. One of his male PAs walked in. ‘Sir, the ladies are here.’ He smiled. ‘Bring them in immediately. I hope you made my choice – clean and pretty light skinned girls.’ ‘Yes sir, Your favourites.’ Four beautiful looking light skinned girls walked elegantly into the room, all looking sexy and sophisticatedly dressed. They should be in their mid 20’s or thereabouts. He smiled and spread out his arms. ‘Come to Daddy. I hope you are going to give me that sweetness of yours throughout the day. I want my dick sucked the way you suck your broke boyfriends dick.’ He turned to his PA ‘No meetings or guests for the next three hours’ ‘Okay sir.’ ‘Come here sugar’ He waved to the ladies. The four ladies immediately pulled off their clothes and jumped into the bed and the dick sucking, fingering, dry humping, condoming, orally, and frolicking began. He slept in the middle of the sex play while the ladies continued their dutiful job on him, each taking turns to suck a small dry dick worth billions of money. *************** The four ladies were his escorts for the day as he took them to his white themed birthday party. The known oil moguls, top elites, and socialites were present at the birthday party. It was a live event carried across TV stations and blogs. This was the most talked about birthday party ever as he gave out 20 million naira each to 5 students to further their education. He was worshipped and glorified as the godfather of the society. *************** The road construction which had been in progress for three years now was even getting worse as the road was before. The community had complain to their local head to lend out their voices to the contractors to finish the road once and for all, but it seems there was no progress. The community decided to take to the streets to protest, the ever kindhearted Engr Matthew Peterson came into the protest and promised to finish with the road project, As compensation for walking under the hot sun and getting dehydrated, everyone had a bottle of chilled drink with beef to help gain back their strength as they walked back home fully satisfied with some snacks in their stomach. You the reader can go back next month to find out if the road was completed. If it has been completed and now tarred, you owe Engr Matthew Peterson a huge acknowledgement, if it has not been completed, you can go to a store nearby to buy some chilled drink and beef to compensate for your wasted strength and curiosity. *************** He smiled as his phone kept beeping repeatedly. He had been awarded the contract to build an oil company in the heart of the middle-belt region to provide more welfare and resources to the community. He remembers he was yet to complete his mansion which was still under construction and the multimedia company he wanted to buy and privatized. He also had to pay some millions into the scholarship account. He picked up his phone and dialed his consultants. ‘Fix the meeting for 12pm today. That company is mine.’ As a good and kindhearted man, he paid the millions into the scholarship account and travelled all the way to the middle-belt region and shared millions of welfare relief to the people. He was hailed and praised and some dance group women composed a melodious song on his behalf as everybody ate and drank till they were satisfied. *************** Engr. Matthew Peterson paced up and down, he was furious. How could a less counterpart who had no knowledge of this job win the contract. No, this can not happen. He must have that contract, its a must! He called one of his female PA and instructed her to call his driver. ‘Sir, you sent for me?’ ‘I want you to go give Mr Daniel Mo this files. I am sure you know him, my counterpart, no he is my partner. Give him this files. He would be joining you back and we would meet at the assembly hall.’ ‘Yes sir.’ The driver drove to meet Mr Daniel Mo as instructed but neither the driver nor Mr Daniel Mo made it to the assembly hall as they died in a car accident. The contract was awarded to Engr Matthew Peterson and he gave a long speech about the death of his faithful and peace loving counterpart, no! Partner, and wished he could wake him up from the dead. *************** The news and media sites were buzzing all over as the top oil business mogul was being investigated for fraud, and misappropriation of funds. A new party had sprang up to check into the finance of the society and already had 75percent votes from the people. Engr. Matthew Peterson was on the top list and some of his properties were being seized. He was given 24hours to appear for interrogation but Engr. Matthew Peterson would not be humiliated before an underage group, he won’t be stripped off his integrity as he disguised as a mad man into the streets, walking, pacing, soliloquising, talking to himself till he found himself at the beach. He would have peace of mind here if he allows the water to carry him. Source: http://tushmagazine.com.ng/lost-fiction-story-sandra-okenwa/ Lalasticlala |
Doing business has its ups and down, one must be equipped with the required skills, experience and resilience before plunging fully into it in order to help minimize the risks involved. It is a fact that many aspiring entrepreneurs have recorded big losses as a result of wrong assumption, little or no experience and poor business management skills. The smart choice when starting out as a first timer in business or venturing into a new field is to thread with caution by starting with small investment and committing greater efforts into the success of the business, this way one will be able to learn the ropes quicker, garner the right experience and study the possible challenges. Here are three advantages of starting your business on a smaller scale: Experience The nature of customers that one deals with, demand and other factors that control how successful your business can become has to be scrutinized and understood before the decision of investing huge capital in a business. At this stage, many successful entrepreneurs all over the world have succeeded in building strategies and also modifying their products/service to suit the larger market by carrying out careful studies and gathering better information for better decision making. Cost management Starting out small sometimes helps prevent losses that may arise from inexperience, poor decision making and inadequate knowledge of one’s potential market. It is not an easy task to recoup large investment when the best measures are not put in place to achieve high standard product/service quality and meet sales targets. Better positioning When loopholes are identified and success strategies are properly employed in order to meet goals and objectives, a business stands a better chance of growing easier. That is, an entrepreneur who starts small can identify the challenges in his business and equip himself for the best opportunities. I am going to tell you a story, a beautiful story of how love and beautiful emotions can make you sacrifice your greatest worth and service to mankind. A story of Stephen, a young seminarian dedicated to serving the church. How love brought him to a place- a place where only his emotions could save him. *************** We walked slowly to meet the new seminarian who was transferred to our church. His name was Stephen; he had introduced himself to us during mass. He looked so full of life and had the selfless manner of every seminarian. Chigo moved and inch faster and smiled as our parents went to shook him. ‘Good morning’. They smiled. I looked at Chigo, how her eyes glowed as she smiled widely. ‘Good morning. I am Chigo’ He smiled back and shook her. Mother looked at me and I said quickly. ‘Good morning brother Stephen’. I said. ‘You are very much welcomed to our church. We would be having a family dinner today and we would like to invite you’. He smiled widely. ‘Okay’. Chigo’s eyes were still glowing even after we got home. *************** Mother prepared a big dinner with varieties of food. Brother Stephen was so overjoyed and thanked us a lot. It was all over his face that he would so much love to come everyday. He called I and Chigo out as he was about to leave. ‘So tell me, how is studies?’ ‘Very fine’ I said. ‘I am studying for my Senior exams’. ‘Wow. That’s great. So you attend extra lessons too?’ I nodded. ‘How about you Chigo?’ ‘I am studying for my diploma course Father’ She said smiling. ‘Hmmmm. Big sister, I hope you are helping your brother out too in his studies’. ‘Yes’. He paused. ‘You go to school everyday from home?’ Chigo nodded. ‘I could pick you up tomorrow then. I have a seminar to attend; very close to your school’. ‘Okay’. She hugged him and I waved. *************** Chigo wasn’t the attending church type but she started going for mass every morning before going to school and almost every evening too. Brother Stephen always came by to pick her up from school and sometimes she took food from home to give him. These days, Chigo started taking more and more pictures, I knew because I was her photographer. ‘Chi, this one you are now always taking pictures, Are you now becoming a celebrity?’ I smiled. ‘Don’t ask me oooo. Just take the pictures’ She smiles back. The picture taking always took long because I had to get the perfect picture and the perfect angle. I unconsciously looked over her shoulder and saw her sent pictures to Brother Stephen. *************** It was a cool Saturday evening. Mother had gone to the market, Father went to work and Chigo went out with Brother Stephen. It was very normal as he visited us almost everyday and there was food always at his table. One time, he bought Mother two wrappers. You could tell it was very expensive. Today, He had a public speaking class to attend and Chigo had offered to go with him. There was a knock on the door, I opened and Chigo stood with a fancy nylon of gifts. She smiled and winked at me. I smiled back. ‘He is travelling tomorrow’ She said. ‘I would miss him’ She smiled. ‘He would be back next week’. But Brother Stephen never came back the next week nor the following week. A month passed and Brother Stephen didn’t serve mass, no calls, no text messages from him. Chigo paid special attention to the announcements hoping she would hear about him. She was getting pale everyday, I was moved as I now clearly understood the depth of their fine relationship. I offered to ask the Reverend Father himself. The season of Valentine has its own unique aura. Each year since the 14th century when the tradition of courtly love flourished, February 14th has been approached and treated with special attention. It’s the world’s “lovers day” – a day when people do unusual things in the name of love. Valentine’s Day On February 14th, a lot of relationships and marriages experience a rare spark. It’s the day a lot of partners create the best moments in their relationship. It’s the day even usually unconcerned boyfriends would give their girlfriends a treat of roses and chocolate. It’s the day girlfriends envisage rare magical moments with their lovers. However, we dream of love as an everyday experience of happiness and bliss that we never wish to see end or take long or even short breaks from. We do not fall in love dreaming of one day of romance in every 365 days. February 14th is only one day of the every other day that the fire of love should be flamed between partners. The experience of Valentine for many, deserves one concentration of all the love, one mass of all the efforts and one aggregation of all the commitment but really, everyday deserves the same amount of love, effort and commitment. Everyday in love should be made to be a happy day. “I love you” is an everyday language. It should be traded between lovers irrespective of season, alongside other love languages including gift exchange, quality time, words of affirmation, devotion and physical touch. All of these elements of love are just as important as professing love in words. Conclusively, approaching Valentine’s Day with all shades of love and emotion-filled gestures is a good thing to do, but it should not be restricted to the day alone. Although the culture of blending red and white colors on dresses can be preserved for Val’s Day (although I’m not a fan of the uniform culture); the actual spirit of love should be kept alive every single day, with or without a boo. Happy Valentine’s Day! Source: http://tushmagazine.com.ng/everyday-love-like-valentines-day/ cc Lalasticlala, Dominique |

In October 2018, Jude Abaga released ‘You rappers should fix up your Life’, a song which he was touted for – received maximum comments inside and outside the Nigerian community of rappers. Mr. Incredible’s effort to rally fellow Nigerian rappers to step up and re-ignite their class in the rap game came as a promotional move for this project, regardless. Unknown to his colleagues, the track made them jump out of burning bushes and making their ways to the studio to serve a reply to Jude’s sortie. M.I’s trial to consolidate rap and Rnb came off on “Sunset”, a frank and adnate way to open an L.P. Chillz smoothness pulled the bars of M.I as they laid low for an accurate delivery. The proceedings continued on “Soup” which shed light on M’s personality as well as Cassper’s OG status. I guess this is a way to fuel more publicity. Remember Jude used South African rappers as a standard for Nigerian rappers a while ago. It’s a mark that M.I still has influence in the African music scene at large. Nonso Amadi left a lot for us to chew on “Playlist” as he stepped out on M.I’s verses at intervals. The solid-fused percussion instrumental came at a time when M.I should have spiced feelings with love notes to fans – this he delivered subtly. A switch to Afro-beat on “Jungle” drops the intensity lower to the delight of Tomi and Santi. Everything was substantial to the feelings that comes with a rapper’s intention to be soft-hearted. But it cannot be argued or ascertained as M.I blended trap on “Wats D Level” making us think of a typical 2Chainz melody. Ckay’s enigmatic character on the hook is one to commend. It will be difficult to forgive M.I for depriving us of Wande Coal’s sweet vocals on “Kososhi”, a song which came too short of timing. M.I allowed Dice Ailes return back to rapping and rhyming on “Your Father” as the two traded rhymes and hardcore lines to the delight of trap fans. M.I’s diversity in features was evident in “One Way” allowing Moelogo to pave the way on an initial pop production which came down whenever he is about to drop his lines. Continental lanes switched again on “On code” as M.I voyaged across to South Africa, bartering brags with AKA. M.I revealed he is still making financial gains despite regular discussions about his relevance. Heavy drums and bass was what welcomed us to “Popping”, a delivery which exploded as soon as the Ghost (of Show Dem Camp) arrived, bringing in storm that wiped M.I’s opening. Odunsi’s chorus was enough to heal the hazardous combination of M.I and Ghost. M.I is a winner and savvy game player as he wasted no time in accommodating Terry Akpala’s unique vocals on “Jiggy” – a melody which should have done better considering the spirit the instrumental and eloquence of Terry. The hook was totally unnecessary but no harm done. “Lekki” brings a déjà vu that is in line with a fashion runway melody. The production was suited to best the wholesome bromance – Ajebutter22 and Falz show, with Odunsi pulling a low-key performance. One of the best works on the project by far. M.I’s endorsement of New school rhymers over the years was inspired by Rigor, class and game on “Slow” as he stamped the talent of Straffiti and BlaqBones to deliver a masterpiece that cannot be omitted. M.I’s in hospitality was seen on “The Crew” as he surprisingly switched to a replica of Dancehall which pictured Yung L giving us his attractive delivery with U.aX supplying underground vocals to soften the tempo. M.I brought in an energetic vibe on “Sunrise” to wrap up his project. Trigga Madtonic singing is one to look out for. The reggae-fused melody has one of the best conclusions ever seen on a project. OVERALL RATING: 7/10 ……………………………………….. From Sunset to Sunrise, Rendezvous is an accolade that distinct a warrior never to retreat in the face of challenges and doubts. Though, the night may full of terror but Joy comes in the morning. The project shows M.I is adapting to the fast-paced changes in the Industry. His acceptance of new talents and ‘new skool’ movement makes Mr. Incredible conscious of the musical contents he dishes out. From jumping ships – Aristokrats to finally landing on a Spaceship, where he always envisaged himself to be. It is imperative that the self-coveted Afro-fusion artist, Burna Boy is on a voyage across the planets of sounds. Constantly switching between sounds and causing confusion among music commentators and award organizers, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu dropped an album “OUTSIDE” in the closing days of January, 2018. On Calm down, Burna Boy brings an Acapella band to start a slow offering which grew into a reggae-low beat. Although, we cannot put together words to decipher the use of drugs to step up his A-game in recording and performance in the social scene. Keyboards and percussions made Burna Boy to turn it up a notch in Giddem, he introduced himself to the fans as a party head and preaches acceptance in delivering music to any extent. He also downplays his commitment to his craft. Burna Boy took us to the coast of America where he met a devil in California. He sings to an unknown girl he met in California. The tempting song on high bass and sticks saw him exposing a portion of lust and love in an affair that tears the strength off his shoulder. Burna Boy arrives at Heaven’s gate with British pop star, Lily Allen in a rather armed situation. Burna Boy dropped his bars on the road rap genre, showing us an evidence of talent. Lily Allen stepped in at bridges to quench his fire at intervals. Koni baje encompasses all the pieces of a typical Nigerian Afro-beat tune in harmony. He addresses the issue with the taste of fans. He sets his hope prayerfully in building his career to the top. More Life served as a track that exposed the controversy with Drake. He jumps on a reincarnate version of Get it together by Drake and Black Coffee. Remember, Burna Boy was a major contributor to Drake’s More Life album but was cut off from the work because of unknown reasons. Burna Boy went Outside his comfort zone and unveils his emotions – lost, darkness and regret. I feel Burna Boy is regretting being left by his friends and the people he grew up. Burna Boy comes out as Damini with nothing to hide from his personality. Burna Boy had to be assisted by one of UK’s top vocalists to bridge his hurt in a continuation of Pree me on the Redemption project. ‘My people plenty for the jungle but dem no know me again for the jungle’, sings Burna Boy soulfully. Burna Boy returns to his birthplace of Port Harcourt on PH City Vibrations, Burna Boy sings: ‘You know say me I be Port Harcourt boy original and I was born at the teaching hospital the 2nd of July, 1991 and I dey stay not too far from the liberation Stadium.’ He sings his biography on a note that transcends repping his origin. Burna Boy can be heard making references to major landmarks in the garden city – Psychiatry road, Rumuigbo, Rumuomasi, e.t.c. Rock your body ushered into a party mood beating the upbeat tempo and sees Burna Boy singing between keys in a fun-filled atmosphere. In-between the chorus, trumpet was used to soothe the soaring drums. Sekkle down is a dancehall tune that featured J.Hus, UK’s artist that saw revelation in the genre last year. Dancehall is a genre which he has a soft spot for; the man does justice on the track in an impressive fashion as he took the chorus to a different level. Happiness, Anxiety and mixed emotions did not evade Burna Boy on the Streets of Africa as he made a prototype of nursery rhymes in a hardcore style. He addresses differences in continentalism choosing Africa as his point of concentration. The production adores playful strings, piano and high bass to dispute the topic constructively. Ye preaches fun and ignoring the bad situation in a positive tune with acquiring the clout in fulfillment. He transcludes lyrics from Fela’s ‘Sorrow, tears and blood’ to tackle some trivial issues. OVERALL RATING: 8/10 Source: http://tushmagazine.com.ng/album-review-burna-boy-outside/ lalasticlala |
When you’re on a first date and it’s going well, congratulations, you’ve cleared the first hurdle. But even though you’re quite sure you’re attracted to each other, other anxieties can creep up on you. For example, you might start to ask yourself how the attractive, smart, funny person sitting opposite you could possibly be single. According to marriage counselor Robert Maurer, asking your date this question out loud is a good way of sussing them out, because it will give you an insight into their attitudes towards their past relationships. Are they always blameless when something goes wrong, or are they mature enough to learn from their mistakes? However, Erika Ettin, founder of dating site A Little Nudge, says asking someone “so how come someone as wonderful as you is still single?” is a terrible idea. “To start, this question is a back-handed compliment at its finest, with undertones of ‘What’s wrong with you?’ or ‘Why does no one else want you?” Ettin said in an email to Business Insider. “This question immediately puts the person at the receiving end on the defensive, when that person has nothing at all to be defensive about.” At best, Ettin said, the person can uncomfortably deflect the question, by answering with something like: “Aren’t you lucky that I am?” The most awkward part of the question, Ettin says, is the use of the word “still,” as it implies that there is something wrong with being single in the first place. “Being single is not a crime,” she said. “In fact, it’s a valid life choice that many people desire…[It’s] as if one thinks you’ve been single since the day you came out of the womb. The reality is that we never know the other person’s story.” It also suggests that being in a relationship is everyone’s ultimate goal, which isn’t necessarily the case. Just because someone is unattached, doesn’t mean they are desperate for a relationship, or they are lagging behind everyone else. In fact, Ettin says she discourages her clients from discussing past lovers on the first date at all. “When you go on a date, the focus should be on the present, not the past,” Ettin said. “Talking about prior relationships often brings up difficult feelings, usually negative, and takes the tone of the date down. Talk about things that make you happy, what you like to do, and who you are as a person… not who you used to be, and who you used to be with.” With that in mind, however curious you might be about someone’s past, perhaps stick to less daunting questions the first time you meet them. Following comments on social media, Trace has made available a document titled Trace Video Selection Explanation. The document, which was released by the company, reveals how TraceTV, which owns several stations including Trace Naija, decides which music videos will reach its many viewers. As headed by Sam Onyemelukwe, Trace West Africa says artists are never asked to pay to submit their videos/ “There is no one individual at Trace who can get your video played on the channel by saying so,” it said. “DO NOT PAY ANYBODY WHO SAYS THEY CAN ADD YOUR VIDEO,” the statement continues. “There is a clear and transparent process and a committee makes selections. This statement is to explain the process and selection criteria. Please share this with any and everybody, post it, email and if you have comments or questions about it please let us know, so we can answer anything not addressed here.” It appears the company’s management feels that statement is necessary after certain individuals, including pop artist Dammy Krane, accused the station on social media of demanding money for airplay. In a separate document, the company explains that it offers artists a package called Zoom. This package, it says, “is a 20-second programme on the channel which focuses on upcoming artists and also gives an opportunity for exposure”. The standard fee for Zoom is N350 000 [about $1 000]. However, this does not guarantee that your video will be selected to air on the channel,” it said. The problem might have come from this package, as at least one social media user gave that figure—350 000 naira—as the supposed fee charged by the TV channel before a music video could be aired. To read the guidelines on getting your video on the Trace TV network, please see the attached document below. http://tushmagazine.com.ng/get-music-video-trace-tv/ lalasticalala |

The issue chronicles Niniola’s growth from a talent show participant to having one of the biggest songs for a female Nigerian artiste, to releasing her widely accepted debut album. The issue also expressly highlights Enyinna’s journey into Nollywood so far, and his latest lead role in one of the most anticipated movies this December, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai. The Anambra state Police Command has said that the aid-de-camp to the Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano was invited to the headquarters for proper briefing on how to discharge his duties in line with the electoral laws. The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Princess Nkeiru Nwode who made the clarification on Wednesday in a press briefing at the command headquarters in Amawbia, said the security personnel had since been redeployed back to his principal. She said the clarification became necessary in view of the misconception making rounds in the social media over the removal of the security details of the governor. "The ADC was never removed neither was he redeployed. He was only recalled for proper briefing on how to effectively discharge his duties according to the law to avoid electoral offenses," she said. According to her, there are over 221 police officers in the government house, saying the recalling of the ADC was not out of place, saying that recalling of policemen attached to dignatories was a routine practice of the force. Governor Obiano, had on Tuesday, during a stakeholders' meeting with all the 37 governorship candidates, raised alarm over the withdrawal of his security details, an action he said exposed his life to danger. Monitor Lizards are the worlds largest lizards and are found in Africa, Asia, South America and Australia. They all belong to the genus Varanus. They are all carrion eaters, but also eat fresh prey like smaller lizards, mammals and eggs. The largest of the species, the Komodo dragon, which can weigh up to 165 kilograms will take large animals like water buffalo. There are 48 species in this genus and three quarters of these species are found in Australia. The Lace Monitor or Goanna, Varanus Varanusis found in Mt Evelyn. In Egypt, in the early days of civilization, the Egyptians villages were found along the Nile River. This was their main source of water. The Nile was where the Egyptians would wash their clothes, bathe, cook and clean, and swim in the hot weather. It was their life line. But the Nile had a problem. Crocodiles. How were the Egyptians to know when it was safe to enter the water, without risking being eaten? The Egyptians devised a scheme. They would catch one of their large Varanus Lizards and chain it by its front paws to a large boulder on the edge of the river. If the Lizard was lying peacefully sunning itself, the Egyptians knew it was safe to enter the water. If however it was thrashing about and struggling to get away, they knew that danger was lurking nearby. A crocodile was in the area. The lizard didn’t want to be eaten so it would struggle to get loose of its chains. This is how the Monitor Lizard got its name. It monitored the Crocodiles movements. All the large lizards of the family Varanusare known as monitor lizards but only in Australia are they also known as Goannas. This is how the monitor lizards got their name. The Presidency on Saturday released what it called a ‘full list’ of all the appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari since he assumed office on May 29, 2015. However, the 159-member list contains several errors and omissions, an ongoing review by PREMIUM TIMES has shown. At least 29 names of heads of agencies or parastatals were missing on the list while data provided for another five were incorrect. The presidency had been challenged by a publication by BusinessDay which indicated that 81 of Mr. Buhari’s appointments are either from the North-east, North-west or North Central. In apparent response to that report as well as several similar ones, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, released the list of 159 appointees on Saturday. The BusinessDay report that 81 of the president’s 100 political appointees are northerners is “misleading”, Mr. Adesina, said in the statement. “To claim, suggest or attempt to insinuate that the President’s appointments are tilted in favour of a section of the country is simply untrue and certainly uncharitable.” Mr. Adesina then provided a graphical illustration of different states and the number of top appointees from the respective states. The graph shows that Ogun, a South-western state has the highest number of appointments with 21, followed by Imo, a South-eastern state; and Kano, a North-western state which both have 15 each. Edo, a South-south state, and the president’s home state of Katsina both have 14 appointees each. Mr. Adesina’s 159-name list indicated that the South-west has the highest number of appointments at 42, followed by North-west, 30, and North-east, 24. South-east, North-central and South-south have 22, 21 and 20 respectively. However, a closer look at the list provided by Mr. Adesina show several omissions and errors. Below are some of these omissions spotted by PREMIUM TIMES: FRCN, NTA DGs missing The Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Mansur Liman, who is from Mr. Buhari’s hometown of Daura is omitted from the list. Also omitted is Yakubu Ibn Muhammed, from Bauchi State, who was appointed as the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority. Ismael Ahmed missing The Senior Special Assistant, SSA to the President on Social Investment Programmes, Ismael Ahmed, who was appointed by the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, while Mr. President was out of the country, is also missing on the list. Mr. Ahmed is from Kano, North-west. It is not clear if this omission was deliberate as the announcement was done by Mr. Osinbajo. Other SAs, SSAs missing Ibrahim Bapetel Hassan, SSA Policy Research and Monitoring from Adamawa State; Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant on Digital and New Media; Lauretta Onochie, Personal Assistant on Social Media; and Shaban Sharada, Personal Assistant on Broadcast Media (Radio) are all missing on the presidency’s ‘full list.’ Also missing are Nasir Saidu Adhama, Special Assistant on Youths & Students Affairs; Abdulrahman Bappa Yola, Special Assistant in the Office of the Vice President; and Bashir Ahmed, Personal Assistant on New Media, all from Kano. Missing September 2016 appointees? On September 26, 2016, President Buhari announced appointments of executives for 13 federal government agencies. However, only seven of them are reflected in the Presidency list. Missing are; Joseph Ari, Director-General, Industrial Training Fund; Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Monitoring Board; Aboloma Anthony, Director-General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria; Mamman Amadu, Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement; Ahmed Bobboi, Executive Secretary, Petroleum Equalization Fund and Sa’adiya Faruq, Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons. Abubakar Bello, NEXIM, CEO missing In a widely-reported appointment, President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2017, approved the appointment of Abubakar Abba Bello as the new Managing Director of Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM). His name was also missing from the list released on Saturday. Heads of health agencies missing On July 29, 2016, the Director Press of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Bolaji Adebiyi, in a statement said the President has approved the appointment of new heads of five agencies in the Federal Ministry of Health. Interestingly, four of the five are missing in the latest presidency list. Not mentioned in the Presidency list are Babatunde Salako, the Director-General of National Institute for Medical Research from Ogun State; and Chikwe Ihekweazu, the coordinator of National Centre for Disease Control appointed in August 2016. Also omitted are: Echezona Ezeanolue the Executive Director of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency; Usman Yusuf, the DG of National Health Insurance Scheme, who was recently suspended; and the Director-General, National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, Sani Aliyu. OTHERS Also missing from the list are the Managing Director, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Nurudeen Rafindadi from Katsina; Chairman, Board of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Abdullahi Attah; and Bayo Somefun, Managing Director, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund. Others are, Luci Ajayi, Executive Secretary, Lagos International Trade Fair Management Board; and Emmanuel Jimme, Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority. Apart from the missing names, however, some of those listed were wrongly described. Babandede not from North-central The presidency list claimed that the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, is from the North-central. But checks by PREMIUM TIMES found this to be wrong. The Immigration boss hails from Jigawa, a North-western state. Roli Bode George not NDLEA Chairman The presidency list identified the wife of PDP chieftain, Bode George, Roli Bode-George as the CEO of Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. The list also claimed the BusinessDay list wrongly identified her as Muhammad Abdullah. However, a further check grossly put the presidency in the wrong. Mrs. Bode-George is not the CEO of the agency. In November 2015, she was appointed acting chairman of the agency, a position she occupied for 54 days before Muhammad Abdullah, a native of Adamawa State, was appointed as substantive chairman on January 19, 2016. Maryam Uwais not from North-central Maryam Uwais who was appointed as President Buhari’s Special Adviser for Social Protection Plan was listed to have hailed from North-central; but a further check signifies that the wife of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Muhammadu Uwais is from Kano State. Conclusion The list is not exhaustive as PREMIUM TIMES continues to verify the presidency’s list against available data. The omissions do not, however, follow any specific pattern in term of regions; and so do not necessarily fault the presidency’s motive that Mr. Buhari’s appointments are not lopsided. Presidency reacts When contacted, Mr. Adesina said the presidency is aware of the incompleteness of the list. “We didn’t say it was completely exhaustive,” he told PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday. “There are some others not there. You will see that all the boards of universities, governing council, the SSA on Job Creation are not there. We didn’t say it was exhaustive. That’s not everything. It’s just to show the majority number.” Asked why the Presidency published an incomplete list as ‘full list,’ Mr. Adesina said the publication was to prove BusinessDay’s publication wrong. “It’s just to show that the paper that published 100 and said 81 was from the North is not right. It was a mischievous story.” He said the list will be updated from time to time. “We’ll keep updating it,” he noted.
