Culture / Leadership Okwuabala Autonomous Community Needs by Marcalex1: 9:07pm On Nov 15, 2022
What is a Successful Leader?
Here are 10 qualities of good leaders. They:

1. Possess Self-awareness
One of the most important qualities of a good leader is self-awareness. The leader needs to be constantly aware of how they are acting, what they are saying and what message their nonverbal communication is sending. Although they may not always realize it, team members constantly observe leaders and model their actions and reactions by how they see the leader react.

This is especially important in times of change or extreme stress. Employees will look to the leader for formal and informal guidance on how to react to the change or stress and consciously or unconsciously react in the same way.

Think about how you respond in situations of unexpected change or stress. Is this the way you want to respond?

2. Garner Credibility
Research by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner suggests that credibility, or the ability to be trusted, is one of the most important characteristics of a good leader. Leaders gain credibility and team members’ trust by doing what they say they will do, holding themselves accountable for their words and actions, and putting the needs of the team before their own.

Gallup reports that employees who don’t trust their leaders are more likely to leave the organization than those at organizations with a high trust culture, making credibility one of the most important qualities of a good leader. When leaders are not credible, team members are not likely to trust them.

How can you demonstrate to your team that you are credible? How do you earn their trust?

3. Focus on Relationship Building
Early management researchers assumed that the most important element of the workplace was the work itself. They conducted studies and developed systems meant to increase employee productivity but did little to address the human elements of employees. Contemporary leadership theories take a more holistic approach to the workplace and include the human elements of employees, including their need to form relationships with team members.

As human beings, employees are not able to bring only the part of them that does the work to their organizations. They bring their entire selves which is why leaders need to be excellent relationship builders in all areas of the organization.

Think about your current workplace relationships. Who else can you connect with?

4. Have a Bias for Action
There are some leaders who talk a good game but never do anything other than talk. Good leaders are those who talk about what needs to happen and then do something about it or have a bias for action.

Leaders with a bias for action do not freeze in times of uncertainty or when a decision needs to be made. They courageously decide and act and hold themselves accountable for their decisions and actions. Someone has to take the first step, and these leaders are the ones taking it.

Do difficult situations or decisions cause you to freeze, or are you an action-taker?

5. Exhibit Humility
Humility is a word that is easily misunderstood. Individuals who have humility tend to not be overly proud of their work and accomplishments and do not believe they are better than others. In other words, humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less and of others more.

Humble leaders are not likely to take credit for others' work. They put the needs of the team before their own, and they are strong advocates for what their team members need. By focusing more on others than themselves, humble leaders gain the trust of followers and help them develop and grow beyond what they may have thought possible.

How much attention are you giving to the needs and accomplishments of others?

6. Empower the Team
A leader who empowers others unleashes their ability to act on behalf of their area of work or expertise and provides them with an opportunity to grow and improve. When a leader empowers a team member, they give them a set of guidelines to work in and then leave them alone to do their work.

For example, you may have had the experience of speaking with the customer service department of a store about a purchase you were unsatisfied with. When the customer service agent can give you a refund or discount on a future purchase without first checking with their manager, they have been empowered in their role.

Who are you empowering, either in or outside of work? Who can make some decisions without checking with you first?

7. Stay Authentic
Authenticity is acting in a way that represents who we truly are rather than trying to act like someone else. Leaders who act authentically show their true selves to their team members, and, over time, team members come to rely on the leader acting in certain ways.

For example, if one of the characteristics of the leader is patience, every time that leader demonstrates patience to team members, they are acting authentically. The more team members see the leader being patient, the more they will come to expect that no matter what they bring to the leader, the leader will respond with patience. Acting authentically is also a great way for leaders to build trust with team members.

Do you speak and act from the core of who you are, or do you try to act like someone else?

8. Present Yourself as Constant and Consistent
Good communication is key in a work environment, yet 18% of employers find their manager's biggest weakness is being a bad communicator, according to The Predictive Index.

Leaders whose words and actions are similar every time enable the team to not have to wonder or worry about how the leader is going to respond. Like with authenticity, leaders who speak in a constant and consistent way almost become predictable over time. The team comes to rely on the leader’s predictability which builds trust and reduces stress in the workplace.

How well are your teammates, friends and family able to predict your reactions?

9. Become a Role Model for Followers
Although they may not realize it, leaders are constantly being observed by followers. Team members watch to see how the leader responds to messages or events and model their own responses from what they see the leader do.

Good leaders are those who are aware that they are being observed by the team and set an example for them to follow. For example, if leaders respond in support of unexpected changes, over time team members will start to do the same.

Whether or not you are in a formal leadership role, you are likely a leader in some area of your life. What kind of role model are you for observers?

10. Be Fully Present
This one can be tough for leaders since they are often pulled in many directions at the same time. Being present for team members means that the leader is fully focused on what team members are saying, what they are doing and the work itself. Leaders who are not present are those who appear distracted by other things and do not give team members their full attention.

When leaders are present, they demonstrate their value of team members. There is nothing more valuable that leaders can give team members than their time, which can be done by being fully present.

Politics / Peter Obi Acceptance Speech by Marcalex1: 7:32pm On May 30, 2022
Peter Obi’s acceptance speech as labour candidate.

Let Us Return Nigeria to Their Rightful Owners

I thank Nigerians; especially members of the Labour Party who have gathered here since yesterday to partake in the primaries to choose the person that will fly Labour flag in the forthcoming National election to choose the President of Nigeria.

History beckons. Nigerians remain hopeful for a national rebirth, which implies returning Nigeria to Nigerians – farmers, teachers and students, lecturers, artisans, workers, pensioners and over a hundred million poor Nigerians who are not sure where their next meal will come from.

Therefore, what you are doing today is a patriotic duty towards seeking the desired political emancipation of our dear country, which stands wounded by many years of cumulative leadership failure.

Painfully, our current dysfunctional system rewards unearned income and conspicuous consumption; allows university lecturers to remain on strike for months; keep our youths at home; and owe pensioners, who gave their patriotic sweat and their youthful energy to serve this country.

The despicable contrast is that those responsible for the mess -those elected to take care of them - have abandoned the national currency and are living in opulence and like kings, spend dollars to buy delegates as well as houses all over the world.Meanwhile, they owe most workers, lecturers and retirees.

Yes, our country stands hijacked by forces of retrogression. We are almost zero in all indices of development. As a result, our future, especially those of the youth and generations unborn is in ruins. We have become a laughing stock among other nations, including African countries where we were once revered.

As a party that represents the workers and masses of this great nation, we are people organised and working for our economic rebirth. As I am nominated today, I humbly proclaim that the journey towards the emancipation of the country has begun.

I note with humility that the journey is going to be a collective one that will certainly require the cooperation of critical stakeholders in our country, especially the youth, whose future has been thoroughly degraded.

I therefore thank all of you and call for your sustained support towards returning Nigeria to Nigerians from forces of bad leadership and retrogression. Such a noble tasks brooks no conscientious objectors.

I hardly use war metaphors for political analysis due to my belief that politics is not adversarial and not war. However permit me a little indulgence here, to relate what we are embarking on to the ancient battle of Thermopylae, where the Greek forces, conscious of fighting for the life of Greece held on against great odds in the defence of their country.

In the battle to re-take Nigerian, the odds are great and seemingly insurmountable, but with our commitment, patriotism and understanding that we are doing, what we are supposed to do for our country, lest she shall die, we shall move on discontent with what is and focused on enthroning what ought to be. In doing this, our battle cry shall remain: get your PVC and become part of this great libration!
Our governance mission will be twin-tracked. Secure Nigeria in every ramification: national security, human security, food security and tackling insecurity created by unemployment.

We will also seek to unite our nation by pulling our people out of poverty, and creating a new sense of nationalism and patriotism. Nigeria shall rise again: and her people will be proud to claim ownership of her patrimony. Doing so is in our collective national interest.

As I earnestly thank Nigerians for their faith in me. In the days ahead I will publish our governance manifesto, which will spell out our top governance priorities. I assure you that no region; state, local government or communities will be left behind.

I also assure you all that the struggle continues and that victory is certainly in sight towards the guarantee of a meaningful future for our youths and making this country a respected and viable member of a 21st century world, that places high value on production over consumption.

God bless you all and God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Fake News: What Sen. Uzodinma Should Have Done* *_by Nwadike_* by Marcalex1: 4:27pm On Jun 11, 2020
*FAKE NEWS: WHAT SEN. UZODINMA SHOULD HAVE DONE*

*_BY NWADIKE_*

Great leaders are respected, honoured, admired, not feared. In Imo state, those hangers on the Imo Governor Uzodinma calling out with threats, Intimidations and harassments on perceived opponents of his administration are the real enemies of the governor attracting him more hates.

It was on the Facebook page of the Chief Gadfly of Imo state, Dr. Modesty Virus M. Ezenwa that I first read the now ascribed "fake news" of the purported attempt, allegedly through a Bill sent to the House of Assembly by the governor of Imo state to regulate the Social Media in the state.

Thereafter, I also stumbled on other posts opposing the alleged Bill, including those with screenshots of the so-called Press Release purportedly written by the governor's Chief Press Secretary on the said Bill.

Following, posts and counter posts have taken over the Social Media highway with yours sincerely also wondering, if Mr. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, the one being accused and detained as the master forger of "fake news" and "Press Statements" in the name of the CPS to the governor of Imo state, had been released from detention.

It's of note that the Imo State House of Assembly also issued a disclaimer to the so-called Bill, and I must say that I am glad the various reffutals from government quarters against the allegation.

"Fake news" anywhere should not be encouraged because it also endangers the citizenry. It makes it difficult for us to know when truly we should be on the run, or stay at our homes. The story in one of Chief Osadebe's musical album is worth referencing here. The character keeps deceiving his people with the shouting of Agu (Lion) invasion in the land when there was none available. But the day the lion eventually attacked, none of his kinsmen believed his alarm. The lion feasted on him.

I had previously opined in my previous article that arresting and prosecuting suspected "fake news" peddlers at this stage in his administration's life by Sen. Uzodinma was not the best move for a government still struggling with brand design. I remember warning that those who advised the governor to tow this line ill-advised him. But what I get for voicing out was threats and profiling of my Facebook account by agents of the government. Some had even threatened to send thugs after me as if dead and life rest in their hands.

The truth is that I do not wish another failure for my Orlu kinsman Governor. To continue to chase after Social Media ranters at a time he should be after the provision of good governance would amount to unnecessary exhibition of brutish tendencies. And will there be opponents, critics, "haters"? Sure, nobody can stop Imo youths from ventilating their problems on the social media. Infact, many eat from this street, and I had suggested that the Governor creates more jobs by employing more hands for his own image promotions on same street if he can't stand their heats.

Fact is that when you arrest one Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, you only cowed some people momentarily, but encourages more to hide under whatever means to continue to hit and attack negatively on the system.

Against the risk of being further threatened by those who are causing more image harms to the governor in the name of protecting him, or even being tagged one of the suspects "at large", I stand to urge that the Director-General of the PDP New Media, Mr. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu be released and continuation of his trial be suspended forthwith by the Uzodinma's administration.

Let's not pretend that all is well with the state at this moment. Some of us may appreciate reasons, especially at this Covid-19 pandemic burst, but certainly not all would see reasons not to grumble over the non payments of salaries to Civil servants, pensioners, contractors and even Government appointees.

Explaining these should concern the Uzodinma's administration most. Grumbling begets rumours, hence "fake news", propaganda and blackmails as weapons in the hands of opponents and aggrieved persons, including victims of these plagues are well naturally situated.

What the aides and image handlers of the Government may do, is to approach this problem of "fake news" (yes, it's a huge problem to the system) from more liberal dispositions. Arrange and organize Public Lectures, Hearings, Seminars, Shows, etc.through select government arms in the state ,where this problem will be discussed in a more friendly outmosphere without the usual military commands and warnings.
Who says Government in power and Shadow Government cannot sit and talk?

The Social Media has become a leveler where everyone who knows how to read and write is now referred to as a journalist, yet there is no doubt most writers do not really understand basic implications in most of what they write. Would it be something difficult to organize a workshop where select popular writers/social media influencers in the state, irrespective of political party affiliations, are hosted to basic tutorial on this vexed issue? Sure, the Attorney-General, the Information Commissioner and other resource persons can be invited to make presentations.

To reduce "Fake news" in the state, Government officials and information handlers must, themselves, first reduce the lies they dish out to the public. They should be more of diplomatic in their conducts. Diplomacy here, is the ability not to lie, but at the same time not to say the entire truths in most cases. When the people are adequatey informed, they would automatically decode "fake news" when they see one.

Similarly, synergies must be created amongst the various information leads of the Government which we all know are currently lacking. These heads are strange bed fellows mixing reggae dance steps with the Atiliogwu steps. The output has been disasterous and killing.

Opposition politicians cannot not oppose. If opposition does not oppose a government in power, what then should it do?. And anyone telling the governor that he can shut up the opposition is sure deceiving him.

But opposition can be managed when politicians in power see others as part of them, not as enemies as it's currently the trend in the state.

The governor should also look inward his political party and among his aides to critically ascertain where some of these fake news are coming from. A political party in power that has opposition "parties" within itself will sure have purveyors of "fake news" within it. PDP is not the only opposition party against the Government of Sen. Uzodinma. The APC is also in major opposition to itself in Imo.

The ideal thing at this stage is to release Nwaogwugwu and reduce opposition's strength by presenting positive and verifiable achievements, logic and saleable communication skills, not threats, intimidations and arrests against perceived opponents. Bruises are best to be treated gently.

Politics / Prince Nwajiugo Nna Ya Of Orlu Collapsed All Parties Structures Into United APC by Marcalex1: 3:59pm On Jun 11, 2020
PRINCE NWAJIUGO NNA YA OF ORLU COLLAPSED ALL THE PARTIES IN OKWUABALA/IHIOMA POLITICAL WARD TO ONE FORMIDABLE AND UNITED APC IN HIS RESIDENCE AT OKWUABALA ORLU.
______________________________________

A stakeholder in Orlu politics Prince Nwajiugo also known as Chief Richard .T. Ekwebelem has collapsed all the political parties in Okwuabala/Ihioma Ward and make them as one formidable APC. He has also called on those parading themselves as Apex leaders in Orlu LGA politics to desist from such selfish act, noting that governance comes after any form of immoral political structures.

Prince Nwajiugo stated this in his home town Okwuabala during an APC meeting with party faithfuls and the decapees from other parties on how to move the party forward for the betterment of our people in the area.

He said a situation where the meeting of Okwuabala/Ihioma Political Ward was not called or signed by the member representing the ward in Orlu LGA should not be honored, pointing out that the Apex Leader in Okwuabala/Ihioma APC is Hon. Anthony Udechukwu.

He praised senator Hope Uzodinma for the fight against Covid-19, advising everyone to maintain social distancing, always watch their hands with running water, use of nose masks and hand sanitizers.

He also thanked the governor for working hard to restore the lost glory of the state which was eaten by the previous administrations especially the recent bill signed by stopping payment of pension to former governors, deputy governors ,speakers and deputy speakers.

Politics / They Have Misled The Governor* *_by Nwadike_* by Marcalex1: 10:15am On Jun 01, 2020
*THEY HAVE MISLED THE GOVERNOR*

*_BY NWADIKE_*

Throughout the weekend, a hitterto towering former Senator of my zone now the Imo governor has been trending on the cyber news world as a "Supreme Court Governor now in Imo state to gag the press, intimidate dissenting voices, cow opposition and suppress democratic institutions"

At the same time, and suddenly, a not too-well-known young man already described as a loafer by the government agents, and who just assumed office as the DG of the New Media directorate of the state's PDP has started gaining recognition as "the hero of free speech, defender of the press, mouth of the masses and promoter of democracy"

Imagine a boy they called a common "loafer" now trending along side an Executive Governor of my state, and possibly soon; just very soon, both shall be appearing before a court to argue on rights and authorities of Rights - Imo State Government VS Ambrose Nwaogwugwu!

In summation, all liberal dispositions known before now around Sen. Uzodinma have just been lost and completely thrown into a traditional pit toilet.

I do expect sincerely, someone to dispute my opinion here because that is the beauty of democracy, but suffice to state that I also have some knowledge of the governor and his public relationship with the press right from his days as a senator representing me at the Senate of the NASS. Sen. Uzodinma then was not easily given to media fliers around him.

I once had the opportunity of contributing to his media world while he was still with us at the PDP. In 2015, I was appointed as the Director of Media in his Campaign Organization (HUCO) in Orlu LGA.
While at the Senate, my two publications (Abuja Exclusive newspaper and Profile International Magazine) were regularly featuring his contents which he frequently obliged me, as if he was the publisher of those publications. He would simply smile over what the press wrote against him and moved on.

There was a certain activist who held him down in the media for several years. Someone else would have plotted to eliminate that writer for brandishing the senator of snatching and infecting his late wife with a certain disease. But Uzodinma ignored him and did not harm him.

I am also aware that some prominent names today in his cabinet had at most times led and sponsored dangerous media war against Uzodinma but he never as much as gave them audience. Today, they are even at the major front of misleading Uzodinma into fighting with a toddler. They have hijacked the Senator's brain box and like the goat set on the butcher's table for slaughter, they have started reeping him off in parts.

Perhaps this is where Sen. Okorocha is smarter than Uzodinma. Okorocha as a governor never allowed anyone to steal his shine. He often ignored those who dared and stooped to conquer them. He smartly avoided dignifying his pen opponents knowing that doing so would make them shine.

I had posited that arresting the PDP's New Media Director-General was ill-advised. The implication of that singular art is that the governor must now get ready to carry out more arrests. Opposition has now been emboldened, and like the popularity (Or should I say notoriousity) which the killing of the leader of the Boko Haram suddenly gave the group; like the popularity which the arrest of MNK by PMB also gave the Biafran agitation, the arrest of the PDP New Media DG is going to further give a major boost to the art of oppositions against the Uzodinma's administration in Imo state, and Nigeria in general.

How is it possible that Sen. Uzodinma was not fully prepared for opposition after desperately attempting the office of the governor for more than three times since 1999 and at a point led the most visible opposition against Chief Achike Udenwa in 2003? We were not blind at some of the strategies used then.

Who was not in the state when the former governor Ikedi Ohakim was called all sorts of names and many media lies and propaganda forged to discredit him? He was called Ikiri and his voice often cloned to produce what he never said. Who was not here when Okorocha was being called Okoroawusa? Okorocha simply responded by employing master propagandists to return media attacks for media attacks and the duo of the _Onwu_ writers matched the opposition.

Who was not here when lies and unverifiable trashes against Sen. Ifeanyi Ararume was trending? Have we even stopped running our fingers across our necks to signify a murderous ingenuity against his brand that we can't prove?

Who was not here when Uzodinma's boys led by a certain Fabian Ihekweme was issuing out lies and dangerous propaganda against Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and his administration? Did Ihedioha seek to finish the man who Uzodinma has today rewarded with a Commissioner's position? Can Uzodinma in his Catholic Church clothed immaculation vow that he had not sponsored any fake news, Propaganda or documents forgery against any business man or fellow politician?

Who was not here about two months ago when Uzodinma's agent allegedly forged the letter-headed paper of the PDP with the signature of the Secretary, Nze Rey Emeana and used it to issue a statement that the DG of the PDP's New Media team had been suspended? Who was not here when the Commissioner for Information of Sen. Uzodinma went out and told the world that Ihedioha embezzled Local Government allocations amounting to about N19.6b even when no proper investigations had been completed?
Is it not this government that has made itself the Market Master of the Oluwole market from where lies, fakes and forgeries also emanate from?

I should think that a government that is still struggling to win popularity among an injured and aggrieved people who strongly believe that their mandate was robbed would have strove to win love and acceptance through practical positive results, not through force or intimidations.

Reading some statements posted on his Facebook page by the State's Attorney General, Sir COC Akaolisa on the Nwaogwugwu's arrest and the involvement of the government, I have come to the conclusion that the advise to come this low on the Imo opposition may have actually come from the AG.

Chief COC Akaolisa's advise to the governor on this very act is to say the least, polluted with his natural emotional status which I can tell about him as a person, but an advise that is totally demeaning and ill. Akaolisa is a very emotional character that sticks deeply to what he believes in. Here, he is of the firm belief that the law is always applicable in every situation.

But soon, sympathies will continue to rise and praise singers of the governor today will begin to curse-sing him. Soon, freedom shall come the way of Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Ndimo shall troop out to receive him as their new hero and kid Speaker.

Ambrose Nwaogwugwu shall be set free, either directly from the DSS cell or via the Court. But the governor would have learnt the wrong way that he cannot beat a child and expect him not to cry.

The street of opposition writing in Imo state has remained a hot one. Best way to contend it is by simply engaging your counter team and dismantle all fake news with practical truths, that is if you cannot snub them.

Another way is by shaming them with verifiable achievements as Ihedioha tried to do in his few months in office. Going after opponents with this sledge hammer would be a distraction and counter productive.

Politics / Uzodinma And The Drama On Former Governors' Pensions by Marcalex1: 12:11pm On May 27, 2020
*UZODINMA AND THE DRAMA ON FORMER GOVERNORS' PENSIONS*.

*_By Nwadike_*

The Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma on Friday signed into law an Executive Bill he personally sent to his boys at the Imo state House of Assembly requesting them to cancel the monthly payments of pensions to former governors, their deputies, Speakers and deputy speakers in the state.

The passage of that Bill which went with the speed of a lightning surpasses all previous legislative abracadabra known in the history of the Imo House of Assembly, including those of the former governor Rochas Okorocha who, it seems, is fast becoming beatified by Sen. Hope Uzodimma and may soon become a saint.

Governor Achike Udenwa had signed that law as ‘The Imo State Governors and Speakers Pensions and Privileges Law No. 5, 2007’ while in office, to provide monthly stipends to former governors, their deputies, Speakers and Deputy Speakers after they left office.
That law had allowed an official approval of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500, 000) only as a monthly allowance to a former Governor in Imo state after he or she might have left office.

My estimate is that a former Governor in Imo state is entitled to an annual sum of Six Million Naira (N6m) only to manage himself, his medicals, his family and the retinue of aides and societal dependents the allure of his former office created. This amount is about the same package given to a retired Permanent Secretary.

Sen. Uzodimma while assenting to that Bill as was swiftly passed, described it as a “bad omen” and a “condemnable law” which he could not personally condone, hence his immediate demand from the lawmakers to repeal it.

Commendable!

But when a governor who is presumed to have been elected through democratic processes begins to manifest undemocratic features and actions, then the making of a dictator is ongoing.

The process of law making, including the repeal of an existing law, requires some rigorous approaches, beginning from the stage of the originating of the Bill to its final assent.

An Executive Bill from a governor requires nothing less than Seven to Eight stages, with the most important being the Gazetting stage.

Gazetting of Bill before consideration comes after the initial review with the primary purpose of “giving the public notice that a new piece of legislation is being considered, and to give members of the public and concerned persons the opportunity to weigh in on the process and potentially give written representations either in favour of the proposed law or against it”

Conceding that Sen. Uzodimma as a serving Imo governor, now has all “powers” of Ndimo at his very disposal, but wouldn’t it have been decorous to have notified the public, especially, these senior colleagues (former governors, deputies, Speakers, etc.) of his intention to end their hitherto legitimate packages? So, at what point was the public notified of the Uzodimma’s Bill?

Legislative process also requires a Bill of this nature to be read at the floor of the Chambers the First, the Second and the Third time. After the debate at the Second Reading, this Bill is moved to the Committee stage where it is critically reviewed, deliberated and where necessary, subjected to a Public Hearing. The Bill returns as a Report back to the Chambers for the Third Reading and possible passage, before enrolment by the Clerk of the House for the governor’s assent.

At which points, when and where were these procedures observed by the Imo governor before the rush to extricate a legally established law of the state? Did Sen. Uzodimma critically analyze the wider implications of denying these elderly citizens, especially the former Deputy Governors and Speakers their monthly stipends, when evidences abound that most of them, due to old age and health challenges, are now economically weaker? Does Uzodimma not know that those monthly alerts are enough reasons for these guys to live with Hope? Where lies the toga of Shared Prosperity when people are daily impoverished by the Uzodimma’s administration?

My quick summation of the so-called pensions of these ‘former this and that’ shows a little above Three Million Naira (N3m) monthly for all of them put together, (excluding Okorocha who is now a serving senator). What is the effect of a N3m positive deduction from Imo allocation for our aged and retired leaders where a serving governor like Uzodimma personally pockets undeclared Millions of Naira as Security Votes monthly?

If Governor Uzodimma truly has “conscience” and cares about his place in "history" as he claimed in his brief address during his assent, why has it not occurred to him that this unaccounted Security Vote he pockets every month is illegal, “bad omen” and “anti-people”? What is the difficulty in revealing the amount and surrendering it to Ndimo “as a young state grappling with enormous challenges”? How does the governor’s “conscience” go to sleep knowing that most civil servants, pensioners and teachers still have their salaries denied them while his Information agents fling out lies and propaganda, including suspension of workers who dare to complain?

Imo’s Post Covid-19 era will require a concerted effort of all, especially former governors and leaders. This is the exact time to court them and tap from their stocked wealth of administrative ingeniuties and coordinations which, unfortunately, are major lacks in the Uzodimma's administration, not scaring them away like we witnessed under the Okorocha-led eight years of hell in the state of which consequences are well known to all.

Uzodimma should avoid the mistake of emulating Okorocha who once bragged that there were no men in Imo. Imo nwekwara men! (Imo has men), and I can tell you that they are quickly gathering having learnt from the past.

With the heeps of wastes and refuses now piling heavily on our city roads; the mess our roads are gradually returning to (especially the Orlu-Owerri road); the ineffectiveness and clueness now made of our men and women appointed SAs and SSAs; the withdrawal of Rights of fiscal control from the appointed chairmen and members of the Interim Management Committees of most councils, etc., one is daily tempted to query how and where the hell the governor spends our resources these five to six months in office with the state gradually sliding back to the Okorocha era. How did Emeka Ihedioha perform the noticeable feats we observed under him, both in administration, governance and in quality road infrastructures at the state and Local Governments Councils?

It will amount to passing the buck for anyone to use the Covid-19 pandemic as excuse in answering my various questions here, because allocations of the state have been coming to the governor even with the Covid-19. The governor may just have to humble himself and submit to superior ideas and suggestions if he seriously desires a comfortable place for himself in history. Perhaps he should review his relationship with past and present Imo leaders. He should also be humble enough to consult and acquire some administrative senses from them, or better still, under-study the Prof. Ben Ayade’s Post Covid-19 palliatives measures for Cross Riverians.

Certainly, Sen. Uzodimma needs more to be able to enliven and stimulate our people for his government. The repeal of former Governors pensions' token does not excite Ndimo.

Politics / God Is Doing New Things...by Goc by Marcalex1: 11:48am On May 27, 2020
GOD IS DOING NEW THINGS...

Today, the newly recruited E-rats employed by the government of the day in Imo state; facilitated, charged and supervised by some people from my own ward fully commenced their work as charged. Their charge is simple:

"Attack Greg Nwadike personally henceforth when he writes, and attempt destroying his person"

So when you see them... about 10 of them coming online to attack my person instead of my issues raised, please do not be perturbed. They are simply collecting their own shares of hopeless prosperity (sorry...frustrations),, and it is understandable.

They will write that I was aspiring for a post in the PDP as if I started my writing career just yesterday. They will say my people at home had told them about me as if they were told that I came from another Agburu or born a bastard; . They will say I am jobless as if they are the ones feeding my family. They will say I am looking for cheap recognition/appointment from the government as if they had not invited me and I politely declined their offer and declared to remain in my PDP. Most of them had not even had a single call from the governor, and will never have till their end.

What I do is write against policies. I do not insult individuals, and so long as God is in the throne, we shall continue to reel out facts and defeat these hired kids with truths. When their money doesn't come, they will gradually disappear, but right now, and even without money, I still de here kampe!

Iro si n'ulo! And we are aware of it.

I wish however, to congratulate the new recruits and their contractors. I do hope our engagements henceforth would be intellectually backed and issue based.

Thank you Jehovah for lifting me this far. Thank you for making me a vessel to talk/write in such a way that I have caused some sleeplessness that warranted my being discussed, while in the way helping the government in power to apply human face to our people.

I'm still a proud son of ODUDUDIKE ancient kingdom (Umuna).

Politics / Our Imo Government Of Shared Frustrations by Marcalex1: 11:41am On May 27, 2020
OUR IMO GOVERNMENT OF SHARED FRUSTRATIONS

By Nwadike

The cold mood that greeted Imo state that very day Sen. Hope Uzodimma was announced governor by the Supreme Court has never left the state. Till date, the state has been immersed in mourning, loss and pains even among die-hard supporters of this aberration called government. They have remained mere hopeful where ordinarily, they should be swimming in the pool of realization of their hopes.

Check it out; from civil servants who work at our Local Government secretariats to their state counterparts; from traders in our markets to worshippers in our churches; from politicians to contractors; from students to teachers, and even among the so-called “beneficiaries” of the government’s appointments who may be tempted to counter my views here; none has added a single prosperity index to himself, let alone friends and families. It has been just hopeful and _Waiting for Godoth_.

I once defined the word “Hope” as an imaginary concept that's not a reality. Hope is "...a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen” which never happens. The key words here are “feeling”, “desire”, “expectation”.
When we hope, we desire, expect and want something. It is a constant state of being, that yields no physical result.

So, when friends asked me why I quickly chose the part I play today, I explained that I understood this name, hence our prosperity expectation is way far from being a reality. It will remain an illusion for Imolites, except for the few Oluwole Market traders now in the system.

Stumbling on a letter by a group known as the Imo State Registered/IMSUBEB Contractors recently, where they were calling for urgent intervention/payment for their ongoing 2016 and 2017 IMSUBEB Action Plan Jobs, I laughed and hooted at one of their members who incidentally is a friend and a member of the APC in my area. The day he was celebrating the Supreme Court’s judgement despite winning a job contract under the Ihedioha/PDP government, I remember telling him that he may experience sorrows instead of prosperity from the present administration. Today, he terms me a prophet.

How could our people; our own very people from Imo state invest their hard-earned resources in building for the state only for a governor to simply sit on their joy? Sadists should make no mistakes about this because I am not a contractor. But that dead body inside the coffin was once a living body. What affects the eyes equally affects the nose. Prosperity would have been widely shared when people work and be paid for their works.

These contractors, in their letter dated 8th of May 2020, and sent to the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja for which a copy was obtained by this writer, disclosed that jobs awarded to them in December 2019 had not been paid regardless of their commitments towards ensuring speedy completion of the jobs.

“The Imo state government through the Imo State House of Assembly passed a resolution requesting the governor, Distinguished Sen. Hope Uzodinma to revoke the ongoing UBEC/IMSUBEB jobs. The jobs (2016 and 2017 Action Plan) awarded to us by the immediate past administration of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha followed due process. Attached herewith is a photocopy of one of the Newspaper publications that carried the job advert.

“We have attained different milestones without mobilization. To our greatest surprise, the state government rather than pay us according to milestones covered went ahead to advertise new jobs as published on the Nation Newspaper of 4th May 2020, page 16-viii, see attached. Before now, we have written an open letter to the Imo State Governor, personal letter and equally wrote to the Ag. Chairman demanding for our payments but to no avail, see attached”, the contractors’ letter reads in part.

It should be noted that these contractors are professional contractors who are both members of the APC, PDP, APGA, Accord, etc. and their jobs which are all about our schools in Imo state are equally benefitted by both children of APC, PDP, APGA, Accord, etc., hence politicizing matters around these jobs would be against the spirit of education development in the state.

It should be noted that these contracts were also won by most of the politicians who are today members of the Uzodinma’s political family. Of note are the now heartless members of the Imo state House of Assembly who personally grabbed these jobs, sold them to these professional contractors only to turn around today to ask the governor to cancel these jobs. What a wickedness!

It should also be noted that these contractors borrowed monies from banks, money lenders and some even sold their properties and gave out others as collaterals to raise monies for the deliverance of their jobs. I leant that one of them has just been ejected out of his personal home by the court for failing to repay money he borrowed from the bank for his job.

What is even disgusting, revolting and repulsive to good consciences is that the Federal Government through UBEC as a major counterpart funding commission, has long released the money for these contractors, and the money has been there, and wickedly sat upon in the Zenith bank by the governor who is now making frantic efforts to divert it and apply it to awarding new jobs of his own.

Imolites should remember that this was exactly how the previous administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha started, and at the end, souls were lost and many contractors who were our kits-and-kin perished. Their cries in agony still haunt our dear state. Signs of semblance of that era are here again with us, but some out of political blindness are simply clapping even as our governor jumps to his peril.

At the end, it’s not only this writer that is suffering from the backwardness that Okorocha had pushed the state. All of us are in for it. Same way that at the end of this Shared Frustration government of Uzodinma, all; not just them, would feel the afflictions.

Sen. Hope Uzodinma is encouraged to quickly constitute the board of the IMSUBEB to enable it pay up these contractors, especially as he was the one who directly ordered them to return to sites when he came on board as the Imo governor and they obeyed him. The fact that the Emeka Ihedioha government reserved this money at the bank for these contractors is cheering. But more cheering is the fact that the Federal Government had even sent another money for a new round of jobs for the 2018/2019/2020 UBEC/IMSUBEB Action Plans. Uzodinma should be gratified with this and even more to come. Uzodinma should be strong enough to conquer this tempting greed and avariciousness so that he retains himself a better place for himself in the Imo Hall of Fame history.

Health / Dr. Mrs. Ezeama Ndukwu And Other Collaborators Gives Free Medical Treatment by Marcalex1: 8:17pm On May 26, 2020
A project manager of an NGO Human Reproductive and Child Health Action Center HUREHAC, Dr. Ezeama Ndukwu in collaboration with Ndukwu Hospitals has carried out a sensitization program on Covid-19 and free medical treatment in the two local government areas of Imo state.

The program was part of efforts to support the government on the fight against the outbreak of novel corona virus in the communities and proper ways to maintain personal hygiene through washing of hands and keeping social distancing.

Correspondent reports that the program also provided an avenue for question and answer session.

The sensitization program aimed at educating the rural dwellers on the need to protect themselves against the deadly corona virus and Lassa fever was carried out in Amaifeke community in Orlu and Umunam Atta in Njaba Local Government Areas of Imo state.

A nurse educator from our lady hospital Ihiala Mr.. Chibueze Obiyo who lectured on Corona virus disease, the symptoms, mode of spread and best ways to wash hands said covid-19 is linked to the same family of viruses as severe acute respiratory syndrome and some common cold.

Mr. Chibueze explained that most infected people developed mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalization with common symptoms like fever, dry cough, sore throat, headache and loss of taste and smell while the severe symptoms, incudes difficulty breathing, chest pain and loss of speech.

He said the virus could be transmitted through direct contact with respiratory droplets of an infected person through coughing, sneezing and touching of contaminated surfaces but called on people to get tested to avoid mistaken it with malaria symptoms.

Another health practitioner Mrs. Adaobi Anyanwu advised people to maintain good hygiene by covering their food materials in a container and get rid of rats at home to avoid contacting Lassa fever.

A program officer on global fund for HIV and Association for Reproductive and Family Health Imo state Mr. Richard Nwamadi says the association with his counterpart from Italy Reverenced Sister Agnes Nwosu also donated kits for HIV testing and more drugs.

Earlier the Coordinator of the program Dr. Ezeama Ndukwu stressed that the program was born out of desire to alleviate the sufferings of rural dwellers by educating them, as well as provide them with free drugs and hand sanitizers.
According to her, Ndukwu Hospital had been at fore front of providing medical services to make people understand clearly any endemic or pandemic diseases around them.

Dr. Ndukwu pointed out that treatment including screening of malaria, typhoid fever, blood sugar, high blood pressure, HIV test among others were conducted.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to Radio Nigeria thanked the management and staff of Ndukwu Hospital for giving them palliative in the form of drugs and lessons

The highlights of the event were demonstrations on proper ways of washing hands, how to sneeze, handling of face masks and refreshment.
