Okay thanks. I have though and amlodipine and bondiuretic was been prescribed which she has been taking regularly and her BP is normal. However, my concern is if there are other “natural” ways to keep her BP on check. I am really concerned with all these drug consumption all the time. Thanks for your advice though.

If what she has been taking is actually controlling her BP , then there is no cause for alarm. Those antihypertensives drugs have undergone several randomized clinical trials and have been proven to be effective with recommended dosaging. So you dont have to change the winning team.
Don't compromise your mum's life with unverified claims of natural or herbal medications with no proper scientific backing or dosage.
Think about the complications of Hypertension eg . stroke, heart failures, retinopathy, encephalopathy , Chronic kidney disease and myocardiac infarction( I am sure you don't want any of this for her). Just allow ur mum go for her routine medical check up and continue her prescribed medication and she would be fine.

This man's case beats my imagination especially with the fact that he is very educated, a medical doctor for that matter and a retired Army Captain. And his Son is also an Army Officer. How does he even come up with this stuffs or even sleeps well at night defending this terrorist, knowing the amount of crime they have committed.

Obviously at this point I am beginning to doubt if education is enough to change anyone's mindset about their personal beliefs.

I'm not supporting quacks in any profession but there have been some instances where some were to be amputated and at last were successfully treated by traditional bone setters.

In as much as i do not want to discredit the work of this traditional bone setters, especially in very Rural settings with little or no access to health care. But you know what, most cases that have ended up as amputation in the hospital are as a result of trials and error from this traditional bone setters, in which in many cases they end up compromising the vascular integrity of the affected limbs or body parts leading to ischaemic changes or gangrene of the limb. So after such trials this patients ends up in the hospital at a point where nothing can be salvaged. So it's either they end up with amputation as the only option to keep them alive.
Yes I agree in simple fracture cases this bone setters might do their trial and it works , however not in all instances. They work blindly , no knowledge of an Xray or knowledge of a Doppler scan incase of a vascular injury. Most cases of deformed limbs or disproportional limb discrepancies started from the initial trials and error of this bone setters.
Please let's be guided when we are making some kind of claims

I find that experienced pharmacists are more important than a lot of doctors, especially in non-surgical cases.

Many doctors in this country have caused an awful lot of unnecessary deaths.

Please for the records Medical training is intentionally broad and holistic. Physicians are trained to take a patient's history, perform physical examinations, formulate differential diagnoses, interpret investigations, make clinical decisions, manage emergencies, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and oversee the overall treatment plan. This is why even relatively junior doctors are expected to assess and manage complex clinical presentations.
For example, consider a patient presenting with a PCV of 15%, features of anaemic heart failure, altered consciousness, or complications of chronic liver disease. Or a patient with features of complicated malaria like an acute kidney injury, jaundice . Or a Sickle cell disease patient with a VOC. Remember these are all non surgical cases. Where and how do you expect a pharmacist to start from for crying out loud? Oooh the pharmacist will go ahead and give medications right?
The immediate priorities of a Doctor involve clinical assessment, stabilization, diagnosis, management of complications, and coordination of care. These responsibilities fall primarily within the physician's scope of practice.Please let's learn to be balanced when we are making some of this statements or assertions.
The truth is that I respect the role of pharmacists in healthcare. Their expertise in pharmacology, medication optimization, drug interactions, adverse effects, dosing adjustments, and medication safety is unmatched. Modern patient care would be significantly compromised without their contributions.
But you see this statements of an experienced pharmacist being more important in patients care apart from surgery , make ona just leave dis matter. An house officer will see or recognize what a pharmacist of 30yrs experience will never recognize in their all their practice years.

Also funny how he doesn't mention what the "normal family problem" it was that led to a woman packing her four kids to go and struggle on her own for 10 years.

In fact from the narration you can see that they stayed with him at some point when they needed to do their passports. According to him, he was "nice to them"...as though they were guests that he was receiving cordially.

On a more Serious note the father has pertinent questions to answer. No woman would leave her marriage with 4 children to bear the whole burden herself just because of trivial family issues. In most case scenarios the woman abandons the 4 children with the husband and elopes with a more wealthier man to start another family.

Only an evil woman will deny children relationship with their father. It doesn't matter what the man did, so long as he is still willing to remain in the life of his children, the wife has no right stopping him. She even went as far as changing their surnames to hers.

That said, the father's story should be taken with a pinch of salt. Did he approach the courts regarding custody or the courts mandating that the wife allows him spend time with his kids?

You can't really have a say until you listen to the woman's part of the story, the children's part of the story and the fathers part of the story. Yes I obviously understand that most women can be so manipulative when it comes to manipulating their children against fathers, but however they were several avenues the father would have reconnected back to his children years before now. We are talking about 18yrs of a single mother Taking care of 4 wild testosterone without the support of a father figure. Any mother would do the same. Besides the children were watching and they know the main player as far as their upbringing is concerned.

Hahahaha, bro that was the same mindset I had for Sudan trained doctors until I met a couple of them , those guys are really sound I swear and they have good and standard medical school over there.

The only issues I had with them was attitude to work, them no like stress at all. But academically those guys are really sound.

Concocted news. POS operator snapped one of the soldiers ATM card and withdrew money, they came to investigate and the criminal POS operator called his syndicate at EFCC. The soldiers then went to report at EFCC office the act which an EFCC staff was aiding. The EFCC quickly changed the story and arrested those innocent Soldiers and detained them for 5 days before it got to show of force. I expected those soldiers to grab the EFCC female commander and suffer her like a day one clawns so they can know the difference between the Military and Civilians

At least this is someone that knows exactly what happened. The EFCC female commander messed up big time. Even if there was to be a case of fraud , you took military men into your custody without notifying their units or the BSG commander? Where does it happen for Gods sake. Instead many uninformed people on Nairaland will come here to be spilling what they have no idea about

It's sad that the EFCC would reduce themself to this level. The said NAF personnels went to an eatery in Barnawa to eat , few hours later they received an alert of 60k which wasn't part of their bill, so they went back to storm the eatery to ask why they should receive a debit alert they didn't do transaction with. They later found out that the person in charge of the POS had a picture of their ATM card in his phone. Meaning the NAF guys were defrauded instead . EFCC wa invited to the scene where they assaulted the NAF guys and took them into their custody.

NAF came to secure the release of their personnel only for EFCC to invite other security agencies .

Truth is that this is one of the dangers of a one sided reportage.

1. There is no ranking like second Lieutenant in the Nigerian Air force, it's equivalent is Pilot officer which they spend only 6 months before promotion to the rank of flying officer . And it is only applicable to regular officers( NDA) not DRC or DSSC .

2. You claimed to have spent only 2 years and they let you go ? How is dat even possible except you went on an AWOL which I doubt is the case with you .

3. Who cares about junior ranking officers talkless of being jealous of ur small rank

Also so disappointed in one of the supposed pharmacist write up trying to castigate doctors and their prescription, maybe he has never heard of the word exhaustion. Truth is that almost all doctors are exhausted in this country.

This may be difficult to prove as a 'scan' cannot ascertain whether the kidney was removed during the appendectomy, especially if the woman had no earlier scan proving she indeed had two kidneys.

There are individuals with one kidney (renal agenesis) and may not be aware of it until discovered during an ultrasound or CT scaLn.

Might not be dat difficult to prove, the kind of incision or scan wud definitely give him out . Besides he is not a medical doctor, so he has too many cases to answer b4 God and the law

Please can you just check the list of educational advantaged and disadvantage states in Nigeria and tell me where Akwaibom falls under. Most times we should try as much as possible to do some little research b4 making comments, instead we should be guided by the facts of the matter not based on our uninformed opinion.

The job of a doctor is quite different from that of a nurse, as most decision making is by a doctor. While the role of a nurse is also different, however symbiotic .
As they will say , uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. That's why a nurse from school of nursing plays same role with dat of a university skill wise.

But it's easier for a Nigerian Nurse to migrate to UK via work visa than for a Nigerian trained Doctor. And when it comes to US and Canada, it's almost impossible for Nigerian trained doctors to practice there without going through lots of hurdles unlike Nigerian trained Nurses, so I don't see why a Nigerian trained Doctor should be prideful to her spouse, honestly Nurses even have brighter chances than Doctors in Nigeria with lesser stress and resources lol

Did u just say planning to send her abroad? Bro she has the capacity to go abroad on her own without ur help or support. Give her some years after moving abroad she might likely be earning way more than you do. So don't feel as if you are about doing her a favour by making her ur potential wife.

What you have is Gout arthritis. It is a build up of uric acid. See a sound medical Doctor for further examination as a lot of them do not know anything, especially the ones barking on Nairaland. You might be given allopurinol or colchicine with some NSAIDS and some dietary advice.
