Afam:
In Lebanon today we cannot deny the fact that some people like Hezbollah while some dislike them.

Likewise in Israel today, some people objected to the war (arabs living in Northern Israel where a lot of military installations are) while some supported it.
As is usually the case with you. You provide no respectable links to back up your claim. Where is the evidence of this?

Afam:
After all said and done, Hezbollah was not crippled as promised by Israel, over 1000 deaths, the 2 kidnapped soldiers are not yet returned, the Israeli PM is under pressure to resign, he even admitted making mistakes even though he refused an independent inquiry into the war.
The prime minister admitted that he made a mistake not going all out from day 1. Those probing offensives while killing hezbolla fighters didn't stop them launching short range rockets. That is now obvious and Israel won't make that mistake again.

Afam:
The response by Israel changed the equation and the results are there for all to see.
Peace can be achieved if we are sincere but are we really sincere even when we are far away from the real action? If commentators or discussants can afford to be this insincere in discussing the issues one can imagine what those that are directly affected will do.
The results sure are there for everyone to see. They are clear enough that even Mr Hezbolla leader has come out to apologise for starting the war. Plus that buffon that is called the leader of Iran has been silent ever since. They now know the cost of provoking Israel in the 21st century.

Peace can be achieved alright. Once Iran, Syria and the other hostile Arab nations in the Gulf officially recognise Israel as a country and it's right to exist. Then there will be peace.

Big B1:
It is very simple:

This is how I see it: We have Mr A, Mr B, Mr C and Mr D

Mr A and Mr B are fighting

Mr C is supporting Mr A by supplying him with deadly weapon to destroy Mr B

Mr D is also supporting Mr B by supplying him with deadly weapon to destroy Mr A.

It is Easily perceived or understood that Mr A and Mr B hate one another; it is also very obvious that Mr A hates Mr D and Mr B hates Mr D,

Very soon the real un-obvious enemies will become clearly apparent, the real conflict will be between MR C and Mr D.

Currently no one is really talking about the potential major conflict bettween Mr C and Mr D, but only Time will tell, but let's pray for peace.

NOTE:[s][/s]
Mr A = Israel
Mr B = Lebanon, Iran, Syria ETC
Mr C = USA
Mr D = Russia
You ignored 32+ pages to post that crap? Wow. What is wrong with you?

It is not simple. Mr A wants to live in peace with his Northern neighbours as he does with his Southern and (SW?) neighbours.
Mr B (Iran) is using Hezbolla to wage a war against Mr A in order to destroy it from Mr B's(Lebanon) territory. Mr B(Lebanon) is made up of Christains, Druze, Sunni's, and Shites. Hezbolla is an organization of Shite militias and does not represent Lebanon.
THIS WAS NOT A WAR BETWEEN MR A AND MR B(LEBANON). It was a war between Mr A and Hezbolla.

Mr C provides Mr A with precision weapons to defend itself. If Mr A wanted to destroy the Mr Bs, he would stock up on Dumb Bombs/incendary bombs (which are far cheaper) and purchase a massive fleet of B52s and then go nuts over the territories of the Mr Bs.

Mr D has nothing to do with Hezbolla. This is an attempt to side step an issue that has clearly been illustrated in this thread.

I can't believe I even bothered to post that all over again. Some people, SHEESH!

Hizbullah has already destroyed at least one armor division out of a total of seven that the IDF relies upon. These losses have jeopardized Israel’s blitzkrieg strategy and have lead the latter to limit its ground campaign to the pace of infantrymen. How many people have ever heard on our inpartial news services that Israel has withdrawn apologies they issued when they were acussed of bombing non military targets. Another example of the kind of propaganda going on in Islamic countries against Israel.

Are you kidding? You don't think Hezbolla was ready for war? They spent six years since Isreal withdrew from South Lebanon building a network of tunnels and bunkers along the entire frontier and building weapon storage bunkers in town centres and stockpiling on Iranian rockets (estimated at 13,000 - 14,000).

You say they kicked Isreal's ass. LMFAO! So this is a victory for hezbolla? Well, it sure would be a sight to see their next victory. Yeah I can imagine it now, The whole of South lebanon becoming a waste land of sand and stone but hezbolla supporters celebrating victory in Iran and Syria. Yup, the Lebanese would sure appreciate that.

Reminds me of when people mention the US lost in Vietnam, or in Somalia. Absolutely funny stuff.

History has much to do with the hesitancy of European powers to make clear troop commitments.

France lost a total of 71 soldiers during peacekeeping operations in Bosnia and Belgium 10 in at the outset of the genocide in Rwanda a dozen years ago. France also lost 58 peacekeepers in the Oct. 23, 1983, Hezbollah attacks in Beirut that also killed 241 Americans.

Many European countries also have expressed qualms over committing troops without strong guidelines on when its soldiers would have the right to shoot and also defend themselves.

@nilla I see you ignored the links I posted. That's cool, keep living in dream land. For those that may be interested.

Hizballah (Party of God)

Alias: Islamic Jihad

Group Profile

Hizballah, an extremist political-religious movement based in Lebanon, was created and sponsored by a contingent of 2,000 Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGs) dispatched to Lebanon by Iran in July 1982, initially as a form of resistance to the Israeli presence in southern Lebanon. Hizballah's followers are Shia Muslims, who are strongly anti-Western and anti-Israeli and totally dedicated to the creation of an Iranian-style Islamic Republic in Lebanon and the removal of non-Islamic influences in the area. Hizballah's following mushroomed in 1982 as both the Iranians and their local allies in Lebanon indoctrinated young and poor Shia peasants and young people in West Beirut's poor Shia suburbs through films, ideological seminars, and radio broadcasts. The Islamic fundamentalist groups in Lebanon have been most successful in recruiting their followers among the slum dwellers of south Beirut. By late 1984, Hizballah is thought to have absorbed all the known major extremist groups in Lebanon.

Hizballah's worldview, published in a 1985 manifesto, states that all Western influence is

detrimental to following the true path of Islam. In its eyes, the West and particularly the United States, is the foremost corrupting influence on the Islamic world today: thus, the United States is known as "the Great Satan." In the same way, the state of Israel is regarded as the product of Western imperialism and Western arrogance. Hizballah believes that the West installed Israel in the region in order to continue dominating it and exploiting its resources. Thus, Israel represents

the source of all evil and violence in the region and is seen as an outpost of the United States in the heart of the Islamic Middle East. In Hizballah's eyes, Israel must, therefore, be eradicated.

Hizballah sees itself as the savior of oppressed and dispossessed Muslims.

Hizballah's central goals help to explain the nature and scope of its use of terrorism.

These include the establishment of an exclusively Shia, Iran-style Islamic state in Lebanon; the complete destruction of the state of Israel and the establishment of Islamic rule over Jerusalem and Palestine; and an implacable opposition to the Middle East peace process, which it has tried to sabotage through terrorism.

The typical Hizballah member in 1990 was a young man in his late teens or early twenties, from a lower middle-class family. In Hizballah's first years, many members were part-time soldiers. By 1990, however, most of the militia and terrorist group members were believed to be full-time "regulars." In the early 1980s, Hizballah used suicide commandos as young as 17, including a beautiful Sunni girl, who killed herself and two Israeli soldiers. In the last decade or so, however, Hizballah has been using only more mature men for special missions and attacks, while continuing to induct youths as young as 17 into its guerrilla ranks. Hizballah's military branch includes not only members recruited from the unemployed, but also doctors, engineers, and other professionals. In 1993 Iranian sources estimated the number of Hizballah's fighters at 5,000 strong, plus 600 citizens from Arab and Islamic countries; the number of the party's political cadres and workers was estimated at 3,000 strong. Within this larger guerrilla organization, Hizballah has small terrorist cells organized on an informal basis. They may consist of the personal following of a particular leader or the relatives of a single extended family.

Hizballah is divided between moderates and radicals. Shaykh Muhammud Husayn Fadlallah, Hizballah's spiritual leader, is considered a moderate leader. The radical camp in 1997 was led by Ibrahim Amin and Hasan Nasrallah. The latter is now Hizballah's secretary general.

So now you want us to talk about how Israel "lost" the war despite the fact that everything Israel wanted from the war is contained in the UN resolution that was passed. The same resolution that Hezbolla initailly pleged not to obey even if the whole Universe comes against it. It eventually accepted the resolution that calls for it's own disarmament, the return of the Israeli soldiers, and for the Lebanese army to occupy for the first time since 1962 the Southern part of Lebanon.

Of course Hezbolla will not obey the resolution. They only "accepted" it so they would have a chance to catch their breath and rearm. One way or another Hezbolla will cease to exist as a militant force.

- The United Noise will do it (doubtful)
- The Lebanese army will do it (also doubtful)
- The Israeli's will do it (highly likely).

Once Hezbolla starts targetting Lebanese or UN troops like they did before causing them to withdraw, the war will start again. And the recent situation in Southern lebanon will be a cake walk compared to what israel's will do next time.
