All lives are important. However as opposed to hamas and hezbolla, Israel isin't actually TARGETTING civilians. Believe it or not there are actually millions of civilians living in Israeli cities.

Mariory,
",,,Frankly I feel Israel should go has far as it possibly can to the utmost limits of it's power in order to destroy those terrorist organisations once and for all."

Since you started by calling me a moronic terrorist, I can proceed to ask you, are you MOSSAD or an Israeli spy in Nigeria?

Perhaps a Nigerian neo-con, a-la- George Bush!

Those people you call terrorists want Israel to fall back on its 1967 lines UNCONDITIONALLY and stop its territorial expansion / settlement drive ONCE AND FOR ALL.

Observing the escalation, it is very obvious that Israel's real motives in Lebanon is not to get back its soldiers but:

1- Settle the score through revenge, following Israel's expulsion from Lebanon by Hezbollah.
2- The forced implementation of UN resolution 1559, calling for disarming Hizbollah, one of the final Zionism resistance movements (along with HAMAS in Palestine).
3- Ruin and destroy the Lebanese infrastructure, collective punishment of 3.5 million innocent Lebanese people.

On another note, I would stop the verbal accuse if I were you.
Peharps it's time to wash your eyes out with soap cause i think you'll find i didn't call you a "moronic terrorist".

"Those people you call terrorists want Israel to fall back on its 1967 lines UNCONDITIONALLY and stop its territorial expansion / settlement drive ONCE AND FOR ALL."

If you believe that's their aim, then your naivity is enourmous. Just listening to the rethoic of these organisations shows you what their ultimate aim is. Please stop buying into propaganda and expand your mind. Israel has been out of lebanon for the past 6+ years and not once, I repeat, not once has Hezbolla stopped firing rockets randomly into Israel.

Such is the situation that Israeli gunners are forced to fire artillery DAILY into no-mans land on the border to prevent both Hamas and hezbolla from using those strips of land to fire rockets. This is why Israel continually occupies land in order to create a buffer zone. When they withdraw, in come the rockets. What the hell are they supposed to do? Live underground?

Again and again, Israeli security intercepts suicide bombers attempting to enter and commit murder in Israel. And from time to time one or two get through to kill and maim. And now they have invaded Israel itself to kidnap Israelis in order to black mail the Israeli Government. I'm 100% in support the actions israel is taking.

As opposed to Hamas and hezbolla firing rockets randomly into Israel hoping to kill as many random people as they can? An equivalent Israeli action would be to carpet bomb Southern Lebanese cities.

Tell the countries surrounding Israel to the East to stop trying to constantly destroy the Israeli state and it's people.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by Mariory(m): 12:06am On Jul 17, 2006
Israel will stop when hezbolla and hamas return the israeli border guards they kidnapped. Pure and simple. The alternative is their annihlation. It's their choice.

Frankly I feel Israel should go has far as it possibly can to the utmost limits of it's power in order to destroy those terrorist organisations once and for all.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by Mariory(m): 12:10am On Jul 16, 2006
Frankly I think when it comes down to it, Syria whould be brushed aside easily by the IAF. Israel's real problem will come from Iran. Pyscologically they have the advantage as more moderate Muslim nations, including Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, S. Arabia have denounced Hezbolla's actions.
I have no doubt that should Israel decide on a full scale invasion, Syrian Air defences and Syrian Infastructure itself will be hit.
They (Hezbolla, Syria, Iran, and Hamas) started this new crisis. They better be ready for the consequences because Israel is going to dish it out good. I heard today that the Israel's intend to bomb lebanon back two decades.

I for one give up on NITEL, it is truly jinxed. Better liquidate this curse a-la-Nigeria Airways and give way to new private ventures,

That's not quite true. The date of that news article is behind the deadline which I understand to be midnight 14th July.

Honestly, why is Nigeria full of ignorant racist paranoid freaks? So we're back to the flag thing again? Attempting to make some Nigerians think more factually is like trying to ice-skate uphill.

Yes he did actually. I remember crime went all the way down. Roads were resurfaced and I mean properly resuraced. And we had constant power (Still don't know how he pulled that one off). Even the quality of programming of the Lagos State television channel reached a new level. New movies on the weekends every weekend. I'm not saying he's a saint or he is the right man for the job but, man those were the days to be a lagosian.

In my opinion anyways.

It's interesting that there is no noise about that. That's the world of international politics.

I think the foreign reserve should be left alone. Having large foreign reserves keeps investors and loaners interested. Nobody wants a repeat of what happened during shagari's government when the price of oil crashed. We've got to think ahead.

Garuba:
Look people, whether you choose to believe it or not, Obasanjo has a significant stake in Transcorp and it is appalling that in a society that claims to be democratic that a president will get involved in any aspect of private business with no regards for conflict of interest.

In well run democracies, presidents/prime ministers are forced to denounce any ties or relations to the business world so as to ensure free and fair governance. Here in Canada our former prime minister Paul Martin when he came in to power was instructed by parliament to divest himself from his shipping mogul of a company and sell off his controlling shares in the company which he did.

What Obasanjo and his kronies are trying to do is to have a hand in every area of the country so they can control the country and money will be flowing into their pockets "legitimately" through "stategic investments". Its the new wave of political/"agabada collar" crime to milk starving citizens of Nigeria. For participating in such schemes he and his people should be tied up and put into a small oil tanker filled with oil, shipped out into the atlantic and blown up. Or lightning should strike em all dead in the heat of their supposed successes.

How is it possible that they can acquire a company like Nitel that has been around for eons for a mere $750m. I mean that is such an undervalued price. When transcorp sells the company to another investor within a short period of time, they will make an insane profit far and above whatever they are going to spend to fix the company up.

God help us. God help us all.
What are you talking about? The president of the USA is an oil businessman and owns oil companies. The vice president was on the board of the now defunct Mighty Enron. And those are just businesses that I know of. Pull your finger out please.

Someone claimed there has been no ''evidence'' to show that OBJ has been involved in any shady deals of any sort. Well, I tell him that there was no evidence of any sort against IBB when he was head of state of this nation as to support claims that he was involved in any shady deals. It was only after he left office (by stepping aside) that the bubble burst and some people came out shouting that he stole some 12 billion dollars windfall meant for the nation'c coffers. And indeed, we have every reason to believe such news. What with IBB's Hiltop Mansion at Minna, one of the biggest edifice of it's kind in the country? The recent publication from the world bank detailing IBB's foreign ''reserves'' profile, his well known link to globacom - albeit, in disguise, and several other web of companies that IBB has got a substantial stake in. Did anyone come out to implicate Abacha when he was Head of State? Why should anyone come out to show how OBJ has done anything worth labelling as wrong?

Bottom line is that when a man is in a position of authority in Nigeria, especailly a position as high as that of the president of the country, you can never come up with any evidence to convict him of any wrong. Did you see what happened to those reporters at AIT and Daily Independent over ''tokunbo'' aircraft?

As for OBJ, his farm at Otta has never had it so good. I heard that place boasts of some of the best agricultural research equipment in subsaharan Africa. The expanse of land the place covers is a wide as a whole town. Obasanjo Holdings is one big conglomerate that can buy off anything you can think of in this country and beyond.

And why should OBJ's stake in Transcorp not be a problem? Where did he get the money to have such a stake? Is it from his Otta Farm? Some people should be rounded up and summarily shot dead on the spot!

The Nigerdelta where ALL these money they are sharing came from is relegated to the bottom. No wonder people can say the source of their ill gotten wealth should not be bothered about.
You heard, I heard, his sister's brother told me, a friend of my father's best friend told me. All rumors. please post facts to back up your assesments, otherwise they remain what they are. Imaginative rumours.

N6 billion scam discovered at Nitel.

Less than 24 hours after the privatisation of the troubled NITEL, a gale of financial malfeasance running into billions of Naira ripped opened at the Abuja headquarters of the organisation triggering the sudden resignation of eight of its top management staff.
