To me this indicates progress. Slow progress but progess none the less. And in a country like Nigeria that's something at least.

Afeni:
Mariory, the reason why they continue to open offices in Lagos is because it is where most of the College graduates go to look for jobs. And no, they are not morons. Hopefully, you would have the opportunity to go to neighboring Benin Republic and there, you would see how a city is supposed to look like. If you are in Benin, go to either Port Novo or Cotouno. Both cities make Lagos and even Abuja look like utter rubbish.
I live in London and have visited a lot of large cities. I think I have a fair view of what a city in a developed country is like and what a city in a developing "third world" country is like. You cannot compare lagos to Port Novo or Cotouno. Both of those cities have nowhere near the population that lagos has.

In response to your first point. Why are most of the Uni/College grads in Lagos. They are not there sight seeing. Lagos might not be as developed as say Rio De Janeiro, but it's no more dangerous. Go to the slums ringing the city. The gangs there make cultists/area boys in Nigeria look like children at play.

Take a look

The bad publicity is good. There are many of us who know these group of Nigerian criminals but, whould never turn them in. If the press can make it so their bad actions some how affect us. Then maybe we will do the right thing.

How can we tell if IBB has good intentions in coming to the political scene. Only IBB knows the answer to that. Anyways, IBB can go to hell.

Seun:
Thanks, Mariory. Where did you get your information from?
It's in the same bbc news link you posted.
The director-general of state security said he was picked up on the basis of a court warrant, AFP news agency reports.

"We are going according to the rule of law and the norms, and the norms say when an investigation is in progress in a case, you don't disclose the details of that case until the investigation is completed," Kayode Are said.

I also saw it in another news article but, can't find it anymore.

Why not? We keep complaining that foreign media don't get Nigeria. This is your chance to let them know what you think. So take it.

Let the Bakassi folks see what Paul Biya has got to offer them. Hopefully, they will breathe a new lease of life, and will invite other Niger Deltans to join them in Cameroon.
Hopefully you will turn those words to actions, pack your bags, and move to Cameroon. HOPEFULLY!
Politics › Re: EFCC: A Personal Tool Of President Obasanjo? by Mariory(m): 4:30pm On Jun 15, 2006
Err actually He is still being investigated. EFCC may be a dog to you, that's your opinion. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best thing against corruption and financial crimes Nigeria has witnessed. And the people whose money the outfit has recovered from criminals will agree.
Politics › Re: Many Bakassi Residents Prefer Nigeria by Mariory(m): 3:48pm On Jun 15, 2006
I'll agree that this was totally the wrong move to make. The next thing I expect to see is a new movement with an armed wing officially making statements on behalf of the residents of Bakassi. Peharps the makings of a new war in West Africa. sad
Politics › Re: EFCC: A Personal Tool Of President Obasanjo? by Mariory(m): 3:44pm On Jun 15, 2006
And you believe that load of garbage? This coming from the same person that is the subject of an FBI corruption investigation himself. He is the one that will now not engage in selective war on corruption? Nigerians (both leaders and people) never cease to amaze me.

Like I said before, the EFCC does not only go after Political offenders. In fact that is more the job of the ICPC IMO. The EFCC does a fine job keeping Banks, and other potential criminal avenues in check.
Politics › Re: Dutch Pedophiles To Launch Political Party by Mariory(m): 3:31pm On Jun 15, 2006
Err Animal sex is besides the point here IMO. The real point is Child sex. What are your opinions on that? After all, they would be "raping" these kids in private.
Politics › Re: Chris Okotie (Fresh Party) For President In 2007? by Mariory(m): 3:27pm On Jun 15, 2006
<sarcasm>I will vote for my Dad becos he said God came to him in a dream and told him to run for president. also I've never seen him to anything bad. So I will vote for him becos God took time out from looking out for the universe to talk especially to him to take care of Nigeria. After all, when my fellow man says "God said" then that means "GOD Really said". That is why I will vote for my Dad.

Daddy for president!

Business › Re: Why Is Africa Not Developing? by Mariory(m): 3:17pm On Jun 15, 2006
Old Glory:
Our leaders in Africa, i think are the single cause of underdevelopment.
I disagree. I think the problem with Africe is the attitude of Africans themselves. We support useless leaders when it favours us. We are quick to jump on badwagons relating to religion or ethnicity even when violence is invovled. How can a collection of people leaving on the same piece of land with such an attitude prosper? It's almost as though we're stuck in the past where different kingdoms fought for control of resources. There is way too much infighting.
Travel › Re: Lagos: The World's 5th Worst Place to Live In by Mariory(m): 10:03am On Jun 15, 2006
If lagos is so bad, why are do most foreign investors build their head offices there? Why is it one of the fastest growing cities in the world?

Places like Bagdad (where people die daily) and Mogadishu aren't even in the bottom ten. Clearly those morons that produced the report are retarded.
