davidylan:Obviously you don't understand. The fact that we are debt free means we no longer have to make huge payments on interest and loan repayments. The fact that we are debt free means we can now acquire loans with LONG TERM repayment options and little or no interest. Of course Nigeria will continue to take, have, and repay loans as other developing, 3rd world, or even developed countries. The point is, we are no longer classed as a bad debtor (if that's the right word) and so can aquire favourable loans. Now whatever the savings or any new loans are used for, is another story entirely. |
Funny how none of the newspapers are calling this an "ATTACK" like they did when people came to protest (they were only holding placards and chanting NOT STONING) against Abubakar in Lagos. |
Yeah, I've known about his achievements for a while. Too bad the project has been pushed back twice at least. hopefully it will be done by March 2007. |
Old Glory:There will be more money for Government to spend on the common man in the village. And the naira has been appreciating slowly but surely against the Dollar, Pound, and Euro. |
The budget was made on an assumption of $30-$35 (not sure on actual figure) per barrel. |

recycle:Yes that's fine as long as the processing plants are open to UN inspectors. There are several countries that utilise Nuclear energy peacefully without nuclear weapons. The UN monitoring body has access to the sites in these countries. So what does Iran have to hide? Why can't these inspectors go in to confirm it is for peaceful purposes. As far as i can see it, Iran are looking to posses Nuclear weapons. And the only reason they would be doing that is because they are looking for a fight. Won't be long now before American and Isreali jets raze the Iranian facilities to the ground. Then we can all move on. recycle:NO! Especially a country like Iran that is currently preching for the destruction of another country and it's people. |
You are reading news of the world? Man what the hell? ![]() Personally, I wouldn't touch that newspaper with anything. I'd like to keep my IQ at 3 figures. |
Idekeson:Actually the killing stopped in both cases because the army was called out. |
Obviously it is. |
Don't forget that nigeria has to feed in excess of 130 million people. Currently on revenue alone, that will work out to only 50 cents per day for each nigerian. http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,,1402210,00.html So in order to hoist ourselves out of poerty,we have to grow the economy for a substancial amount of time. The issue isin't just corruption (although it is a big part of it). |
@Loverboy I'm not sure that that kind of structure will work. The thames barrier is built on a river which isin't that wide. I think what lagos needs are well built concrete levies or flood walls. |
At the moment Canada (for a peaceful relaxing holiday), USA (Florida - Seaworld, to swim with dolphins), and Australia (to visit the Great Barrier Reef). ![]() |
If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would go as far as saying Atiku organised the protest so that people will feel he is being persecuted. |
owo:Excuse me but, who made your the judge master of those that defend the present administration's policies. You expect everyone to think like you do? I happen to be one of those (of which the limits of your reasoning capability calls a "bootlicker" that believes the economic reforms of the present administration are appropriate. My feelings towards the president himself as a person is irrelevant.Simply put, the current administration is transforming the economy for the better. Now I do not support the third term but, that does not stop me from still appreciating the good things that have so far been achieved. If that makes me an "apologist, bootlicker, campaigner, representative, member of the 'sitting-room cabinet' " in your own retarded capability to discuss issues then I guess I am now aware your your handicap in political arguments. Carry on. |
They are both as retarded as each other. |
Kazaure:Careful who you stand with. Politics is not black and white. You will notice that recently, the people making the most noise about no to third term are those that have presedential ambitions. We must concentrate on people who will develop our economy, infrastructure, and citizens. Supporting someone simply because they are "anti-third term" is not wise. Not wise at all. |
@ono That is simply an opinion of the man. He has no evidence other than conjecture. Nothing more than an imaginative mind. And simply because a person refuses to believe stories that may paint the president black (something I know you love to see done) doesn't make them apologists. Show hard facts that the pesident had a hand in it and I will agree. |
In recent times it appears it has become fashionable to critise the government weather there is a real reason to or not. I do not support the third term but, we really need to start looking at propective people to take over. The known thieves are starting to ride the wave of the anti-third term campaign so that in the end they will be regarded as hero's and be elected to destroy the gains we have so far achieved. Please Nigerians weather anti Obasanjo or not, be weary of these people Atiku, IBB, Marwa, Kalu, Buhari and several others. My personal Choice whould be the Governor of Cross River State. I hope he decides to run. |
I'm sure you guys must have heard about the situation in Chad. Another civil war in the making. Are we doomed to conyinue with this cycle? How come the population can not overcome an African Government they are dissatisfied with like many other countries in the world have done with their leaders (except maybe South Africa). Why do we think we have to use weapons to put our points across? Is it the same warmongers going around Africa stirring trouble? I really can't understand it. |
jibitoye:Ermm NO. Anything won't do. We should be encouraging others to run as well. There are a couple of Governors who have done well with developing their states amongst others. Let us not view these thieves as a way out. We shouldn't even be contemplating Atiku with his foreign assets. |
Prophet, you should also remeber that this is a public forum and anything you post is open to be critised or praised. However, I share your sentiments on the fact that we should come together to make Nigeria work properly. |
otokx:So what? What's your point with that statement? Exactly how has he proved himself? By having his American home searched by the FBI in connection with a corruption scandal? Please explain how. |
romeo:I don't know how you came to that conclusion. I'm not even officially Nigerian even though I've lived there for over half my life. On the whole, I think I misunderstood what Asiwaju ment. The price of a ticket should be no business of the embassy official. However, as far as you do not have a Nigerian passport, then the embassy official has the right to know how you will finance your stay in Nigeria. |
onanugaola:Lmao! You think Obasanjo is bad? Wait till this guy gets there. |
ono:You don't know and I don't know. Only those with access to the list know. Also this same spiritual advisor to Charle's Taylor has been spewing forth more rubbish from his noise hole. As far as I'm concerned, the man is just looking for attention. http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/news/article06 Badman888:Charle's Taylor did not say that. The only person that's been saying that is a man who claims to be Taylor's spiritual adviser. |
Relax mingiix, I think from the smile you can tell he was joking. |
asiwaju:As you can see Asiwaju herself stated that the embassy official told her the rules had changed. It is not weather she is a Nigerian or not but, weather she has the papers to prove she is a Nigerian. Obviously she doesn't so she shouldn't be surprised when she is treated like a foreigner weather she looks, speaks, or acts like a Nigerian. I'm not saying that perharps the official could not be more tactful. All I'm saying is if we want Nigerian public institutions to work like they should, then we should be ready to follow the rules. |
ono:All you have are assumptions. First of all Taylor disappeared before Obansanjo left for the US. I am fasinated though by your comment, "After Taylor was ''caught'' intelligent people knew there was more to his ''capture'' than meets the eye." Funny because most intelligent people know to look at things objectively. Taylor's spiritualist confirmed your fears. It is what you wanted to believe. Again there is no gaurantee that taylor said this. Why hasn't any of Taylor's family members said the same thing? Or Taylor doesn't trust his own family? This same mad man also stated in the same article you posted. "Paul said Taylor told him he believed his captors thought he would flee, and that the agents had been ordered to kill him, "but they couldn't because he surrendered without any resistance, and because he had five or six people with him." Why would Obansanjo want to kill Taylor or are you now going to start saying Obasanjo was involved in the diamond smuggling so you can fit the pieces of the puzzule according to how you want it? Plus how do you know what names are contained in the Okija Priest Register? Have you seen it? I was under the impression the list has not been released. Could it be that those in fact are simply more assumptions? |
In the recent past the Iranian president said Isreal should be wiped off the face of the earth. He claimed he was merely putting foward the thoughts of most Iranians. Should such a nation with such a leader be allowed access to nuclear weapons? |
@ono You seem to believe everything you hear just as long as it confirms to want you want to be true. The statement that Nigerian security forces had a hand in Taylor's attempted escape was actually disclosed by Taylor's "spiritual leader" (whatever the hell that means). We don't even know if Taylor actually said that. Hell will freeze over before I believe a word from the mouth of such a person. |
