Not everyone. You don't see people bad mouthing the Governors from Bauchi, Kwara, Cross River, and Ogun. So at least, these Governors must be working hard and achieving results.

Ashiwaju, you know fully well OPC and other pan-ethnic group militias are very popular in the country. Those same people that are members and that support those groups will support and be willing to die for creation of a new western Nigerian States. That is, once they get exposed to my ideology. Just because cowards like yourself are contempt with living in rampant poverty does not mean others are.
For those new to the forums, please ignore this deluded infant. His fantasies have no bearing on reliaty.

I challenge you to give me an example of a coercive monopoly or oligopoly that was established without the help of the government. Sometimes people make the mistake of classifying excellent companies who are extremely good at serving their customers as monopolies.
Microsoft (late 80's & early-mid 90's) were in near total control of the software market with a sub-standard product. Now in this situation Windows dominated not because it was a superior product, but because consumers had no order choice because IBM PCs came bundled with Windows. Microsoft actively employed bullying, plagirism, and anti-trust policies to eliminate competition.

Government regulations tends to favor big business because of corruption. The little guy always suffers more. Recently our senate approved a law that requires palm oil exporters to obtain a 6,000 euro license. In a free market, anyone who has palm oil would be free to export it. The biggest players tend to benefit from government 'regulations'. 6000 euros is nothing to them!
In a free market system without regulation, you would have these same big corporations bribing their way to favourable deals and employing anti-trust policies anyways. There is always potential for abuse/misuse of the system. In the situation you highlighted, the little guy still has the means at least in principle to cause the senate to amend the law to a lower fee.

With regulatory institutions, smaller companies and indeed customers have someone to turn to should they feel wronged by the larger coporations.

Free markets are intensely competitive, and in the absence of widespread fraud they tend to concentrate more resources in the hands of those who contribute more to the satisfaction of the desires of others within the market - the happiness of others. So I see the free market as being by far the most efficient system for getting as many goods and services produced to satisfy as many human needs or wants as possible to people.
Your're right but, free markets need to be heavily regulated and monitored as they tend to encourage corruption.

@FilchThats where you missed it. You would end up looking for how many nests of ants in your backyard? How many of them do you want to find out. And after you succeed exterminating all the nests in your backyard, how about those in your neighbors backyard who might not even know there is a nest-in-reality or a nest-in-making at the backyard of his house. How about the nests in your neighborhood that you have no clue about.

Its plain Logic and you just missed it.

Yes, the 419scums are the ants. But if I were you, I'll remove the Sugar on my table, at least before looking for nests, because as long as theres sugar somewhere open and free for all, the ants will keep coming, and their future route will differ from the route they find to my table and sugar jar today. Thats where the solution to the problem should begin.

Thanks for those pictures. Now, @Filch, @Jakumo, if you come report to me that you got scammed by the likes of people in the pictures posted above, do you expect me to take you guys as serious people? don't you think yourselves might be labelled as suspects?

It is just a very thin line that divides Ignorance and Stupidity.
The basis of the argument was your proposed solution to the problem. That is, to treat the scammers and the victims the same way. Which by all measures of reliaty and legality absolutely cannot happen.

You should keep in mind that most of the users on the World Wide Web are not experienced with computers. What is needed is an educative campaign which the mainstream media don't seem interested in. In comparison, I notice that with almost every new blockbuster hollywood movie released these days, there is a segment dedicated to piracy, and file sharing. Goes to show you how selective the media are with their stories.

Only once I have seen a section of the news dedicated to talking about spam. Which second to malware is probably the largest money losing source in regards to cyber crime for individuals and companies.

Now since most of the scams originate from internet cafes whether in Nigeria or not, how do you begin to trace the scammer sending out the emails?

Should I mention names? Well, I will, so that the likes of goggoji will know that the true thieves are not from the Niger Delta, but from the big three ethnic groups.

1. Ibrahim Babangida
2. Theophilus Danjuma
3. Adedibu Lamidi
4. OBJ (Obasanjo)
5. Sanni Abacha
6. Chris Uba
and a host of others I cannot remember now, or probably they are stealing theirs in the dark.
And the Niger Deltans are saints. After all, there are no places in the Niger delta where some Niger Deltans have built mansions, hotels etc. Where did they get the money? Was it the "Gods" that sent it to them.

Do you ever stop talking rubbish?
Politics › Re: Gaddafi Slams Nigeria For Handing Over Taylor by Mariory(m): 11:54am On Jun 02, 2006
Technically we didn't hand Taylor over to the war crimes court. We handed him over to the Liberian Government at the request of that Liberian Government. If Gaddafi is scared that a new Libyan leader might request his extradition from some other African country where he's hiding in retirement or whatever, that's his problem.

As far as I'm concerned, Nigeria did nothing wrong.
Politics › Re: EFCC: A Personal Tool Of President Obasanjo? by Mariory(m): 2:09pm On Jun 01, 2006
Yes divious people keep spouting noise about how the EFCC is a tool used by Obasanjo. Never mind the excellent work they have done in bringing a lot of 419ers and corrupt politicians (including Governors, LGs, etc) to book and recovering stolen property.

In Nigeria once you have been fingered, all you need to do is claim you are the "champion" of a region, or religion, or ethnic group. Or cliam you are in opposition. Then just watch the drones wade to your defence even when they know you are guilty. I think my sig says it all.

My point is the final decision lies with us. We make the decisions. So when someone says he wants to run for president, it is not because God told him to do it. It is because he wants to do it.

There's nothing double-minded about this whole issue. As a President, will he be there for Life? This could only be a phase in the evolution of his life. That call is made by God and not man.
What a lovely "cup" of utter nonsense. No offense intended personally to you. He may be as noble as you think he his. However such a decision is not made by God as you so conveniently put it. I am sick and tired of everyone saying it's God that told me to do this or that. Why did God give us brains in the first place? For fun?
Politics › Re: A Religious Leader To Rule Nigeria? by Mariory(m): 8:20pm On May 29, 2006

Or in the case of oil, if you had to distribute your inheritance that your fore-fathers left for you with people from other regions. It is just not right.

The only oil money that should be distributed to all the States and Federal Government are the one that are received from off-shore locations.
Oil was not put there by anybody's fore-fathers. It is an act of nature. Are you going to say people also own the wind that blows through their land? Or the rain that falls where they live? The issue of oil in regards to the local population is the land. The local people own the land. Therefore adequate compensation should be given for utilising the land to drill for oil when it could be used by the inhabitants for other purposes.

In other words, I support your call for more local resource control. It's been 7+ years since we began this new adventure on developement. Any State that cannot survive right now with reduced allocations from the oil states only have themselves to blame.

Now what he has up his sleeves, is to try and select someone to become president because he knows he would benefit from that. I am glad that his oppositions are fighting back, it just shows that there is more democracy in the country
How can he select someone to be president. I think you mean he's selecting someone to contest presidency for the PDP. And for that the PDP would have to agree. Of course the politics will play a part too.
Politics › Re: 20 Potential Candidates For 2007 Election by Mariory(m): 7:57pm On May 28, 2006
Of all those mentoned I would go for a coalition of the key members of Obasanjo's administration and Donald Duke with Donald Duke as the presidential candidate.

I honestly believe letting a bussiness man in there would be bad. Almost as bad as letting in any one of the 3 musketiers (Atiku, IBB, Buhari) or Kalu.

Corruption exists irrespective of what U as an individual do or think. In effect the State apparatus coerces us to part with money anytime we want something done. The solution is not 4 us as private citizens to change but to get the Govt to change.Anythingelse is living in an unreal world
If the population is willing to encourage corruption when it favours us, then corruption is going to be with us no matter what any Government does.

I'm sure that even if given the chance to report individuals at your local passport office for fast tracking your passport applications for inflated prices, you wouldn't do so because what they are doing in this case is helping you.
Indeed why would officials at the passport office be willing to follow protocol when there are people willing to pay them excessive prices for favours.

Anyways keep telling yourselves that it is only the Government that should change.

No! I couldn't give a flying f@@k if he's "repented". Let him go and start a charity if he wants to show he is a "changed" man.

The God I believe in gave us our brains for a reason. So as far as I am concerned, God and religion have nothing to do with this.

You keep talking about Arabs bombing the tube. Who was it that bombed the World Trade centres and killed over 2 thousand people? Were they fairies?

This thread was supposed to be an expression of opinion but, you can't seem to get it in your head that people can prefer the UK to the US. Not everyone wants to live in gangs in the projects. And before you blow noise again, yes I've been to the US. It's not bad, but it ain't better than the UK. Plain and simple.

Please do not compare what I said to robbing a bank, unless the bank doesn't actually exist in which case, no it would not be a crime to attempt to steal money from a bank that doesn't exist. Stop wandering about in the dark and look at things in an objective way.

There is no way you can hold victims accountable legally unless the fraudstars are actually in possesion of stolen money. Which as we know is almost always not the case.
