FamilyRe: His Wife Has Too Many Male Friends by markovnikoff001(m): 10:53pm On Dec 01, 2011
, all the ladies that commented on this thread said something in the order of "a woman can keep male friends as long as she knows where to draw the boundary", that's preposterous!! You know how you all are; always trying to be friendly to everyone, not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings. Men know that about you and they will always take advantage of that fact. I see the conversation playing out like this:

Man friend: I am usually very busy at work, can I call when I get back home?
Married woman: hmmm, you know I'm married now, I don't think it will be a good idea.
Man friend: I just need someone to talk to, a friend I can confide in (emotional blackmail), well if you say I can't call it's okay, (reverse psychology)
Married woman: , Awww, okay you can call me anytime, I'll just tell my husband about it, I think he'll understand.
End of story.
It is very important to not get too close to male friends when you are married or even if you're just in a relationship, at least not to the point where they can use your weakness against you.

And for the Mr. Husband, you need to put your foot on the ground and set the rules in that house. Talk to her on how you feel on issues like this (I am assuming you have not spoken to her on this before). Let her know you are the man and do not compromise on how you handle it when she goes against your rules. There is nothing wrong with allowing your wife some freedom, at least she's not in a bondage but do not go around with the false sense of "I trust my wife she can't do anything" and then let her fly free, because just when you feel safest is when she calls someone else's name while you are making love. Show love but more importantly show strength.

What she did-picking a call at 10:30 pm-is wrong, whether you are about to have sex or not. But I put half of the blame on you; if you had been the man you're supposed to be, that kind of crap would never have happened.
EducationRe: 62 Graduates Bag First Class In UNIBEN by markovnikoff001(m): 11:09pm On Nov 17, 2011
Ask anyone who attended a State University what their first choice was, they will probably tell you it's a Federal University. The Federal Universities become spoilt for choice, so they only admit the cream of the crop. I am not saying the admission procedures are flawless, but eventually more brilliant candidates end up in Federal Universities than in State ones. I think that takes care of the "more first class graduands seem to come from Federal Universities."

As for the "how can so many students make first class?" One needs to understand what it takes to make a first class:
Make a CGPA above 4.50/5.00 on graduation (don't know that for schools that work on a different scale).
How does one make this CGPA? Make As in most of your courses while scoring only but a few Cs.
How does one make As? Score above 69.9%.

I know 70% is not that easy to achieve, but that is what grabbing a First Class is really all about: scoring 70% and above.

You do not have to be a super-human or an extra-terrestrial to score above 70%; some of us here at one time or the other made A's in some of the courses we did at school, so extrapolate that to about four-fifths of all the courses you offered at school and you will understand how people make a First Class.

First Class graduands are just better at passing exams than other students (all things being equal), there is nothing more to it than that! They read, they recollect and they respond to exam questions, correctly!

Competition between students in a particular class, department or faculty sometimes work to raise the number of First Class candidates. A situation like this took place in my class where we produced 16 First Class graduands from a class of 70 students! Unbelievable, yeah? If I told you where they all are now, then you'll probably believe me.
RomanceRe: Caught Cheating A Day To Marriage Proposal by markovnikoff001(m): 2:07pm On Nov 15, 2011
Mr.Chucks, you've reached a fork in your path right now; while one leads to you getting back together (i.e. if she wants to), the other ends with you killing off the relationship (whether she wants it or not). The one you take depends on what kind of person you are(and you have to be true to yourself here).

If you are someone who lets bygones be bygones, then all well and good choose the first option; when I say this I mean you will not for one second think about what could have happened between your girlfriend and the guy; how she Zap.e.d her, what things they did together, whether she loves him more than she loves you, whether she still sees him even when she say she no longer does etc, if your mind fills with these things, then most definitely go for the first option otherwise you will be putting yourself through torture and a hideous one at that (I've been there so I know what I am talking about). On the other hand, if you can blank out your mind and start on a fresh note (which is almost inachieveable), then go for the second option.

Thing with love is, it clouds our judgement and we usually don't see clearly. Even when signs point to a view, we lie to ourselves and choose the contrary, making excuses on behalf of the cheating party. I would have just said break up with her right now! But then there is love involved so it's not that easy and straightforward, hence the prose I developed above.

I have got a question for anyone who's ever cheated: rather than cheating, why don't you just break up with the one you're with and start a new relationshhip with the one you're cheating with, instead of two-timing both of them?

Scientists have just made a breakthrough! They identified a part of the brain that aids bowel movements and they have named it the FAECAL LOBE, and they also found out that there is a tendency for people of low intelligence to use this part of the brain for thought actions rather than that for which it is meant. I have finally found proof of that right here on Nairaland: people that believe the sack of Siasia is the best move the NFF could have made!

Am not surprise at such becos hardly before you see student of today reading their books, in those days reading is a must, because your parents will not let you alone, reading of novels was common etc,  today its facebook, pinging, twitter, Ps2, music etc so here come the results and its killing us more and more, Parents are busy running up and down making money, they never bother if their children are really performing well in their academic pursit, ask some student to tell you what is photosynthesis, you will discover that they dont know it but ask them who sang Oleku they will tell you the date the album was release, when the singer was born, where the video was produced etc, Parents its up to us make sure our effort is not wasted, truly we are meant to huzzle at the same time create time to check these children at school and how they are performing, God bless Nigeria.
Isn't it hilarious when someone tries to come off as intellectual and better-off and they only succeed in displaying their incompetence? It's quite obvious you are not so different from the "student of today" that you tried so hard to castigate. Going by your verbose, "paragraph-less" and ineffectual response to the topic, I would advise you plead with the administrator to remove your post so you may redact and re-post it. Damn!
GamingRe: What Game Are You Currently Playing? by markovnikoff001(m): 3:28am On Sep 18, 2011
Playing Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 and I got all the way to the final chapter and got stuck. Anyone here played that game? 'Cause I need help on how to go past the point where Snake and Octagon, both significantly weakened by the incessant battles, are dragging themselves through some tunnel with spikes lining its walls. Thing is I've tried, not a few times, to go past this tunnel and the door at the end, but I keep getting these electric shocks that sap all of my strength just when I am about to reach the door. Anyone have any ideas or is the game not designed to be completed?
SportsRe: Mikel Obi Visits GEJ To Say Thank Him For His Dad's Release by markovnikoff001(m): 4:05am On Sep 01, 2011
Was that necessary? His father, once lost has now been found, is that the reason he went to see the President? And Mr. President granted him audience. Has Mr. President ever granted audience to any relative of all the many "unknown persons" that have been kidnapped since this scourge began? A simple message was acceptable but definitely, most definitely not a visit. Common! there are more pressing issues for the President of a Sovereign State to attend to, the grateful son of a kidnapped father now returned should not be one.

Idi-Amin:
My presido no even wear shoe, disgrace, whole presido dey walk barefoot shocked shocked shocked
The President can choose to wear shoes or not depending on what personalities he is interacting with. He probably sees Mikel as a son hence his "barefootedness". The blame should be heaped on the stooopid photographer that took a picture of the sole of the President's foot.

RomanceRe: Girls: When Does 'toasting' Become Too Long? by markovnikoff001(m): 11:27pm On Aug 31, 2011
The mind of a girl is so, so discombobulated: they want a kind of relationship with a guy (who is not their boyfriend) that is not completely romantic and at the same time not absolutely platonic, infact they love it.

Silly you for leading him on for so long, I guess you were enjoying all the attention he was giving you and you didn't really do anything concrete about it until your boyfriend found out. You have always known how serious the whole situation was but you kept him for this long because it gives you something to "fall back on emotionally" whenever you have issues with your boyfriend. You may think you feel nothing for him but look just a bit deeper in your heart and you will find out you miss him if he doesn't call or try to contact you.

And then you used his feelings for you against him: by asking him for help "all through law school" cause you knew he was never going to refuse you. During one (or more than a few) of those tutorial sessions tell me, didn't the talk veer off into romantic conversations in which you actively participated? And now you blame him. I think you are to blame as much as he is. Infact I wouldn't blame him that much, he was just following the illusory signals you were sending him.

A girl and guy can only get so close without sparks flying off. You will run into situations like this all your life, but the crutch comes with how well you handle them. Always, I mean A-L-W-A-Y-S tell your boyfriend about situations such as this soon as they start. Count yourself as lucky for the kind of boyfriend you've got; he could have left you, you know. And I don't think you want that happen.

Now does this not expose our leaders as two-faced bu.ffons who have no conviction whatsover? When Sanusi powered up the motion for Islamic Banking , they were vehement in their refusal, even asking him to come and defend the idea behind the banking method, all because the word " Islamic" was involved. I ask, is "Ramaddan" not of the Muslims? Why are the Christian legislators not saying anything about the 6 week break for a "Muslim event"? Oh I know why-they are on a flight to the Solomon Islands to chop some money with not a few concubines in tow.

How did we get to this stage of gorvenance where the governed have no say in what the governing do? Because really, there is nothing we do, the disconnect grows ever wider: they raise their allowances, nothing happens; they take loans for no reason, nothing happens; they bloat contract costs, nothing happens; they shut down the legislature for 6 weeks, nothing happens, abi no be democracy we dey run again? Maybe we should concoct a term for the type of government run in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Letter To Boko Haram: This Is Great by markovnikoff001(m): 2:47pm On Jul 02, 2011
As far as I'm concerned the major problem of religion are these "Holy Books", they leave so much room for personal and sometimes widely divergent interpretations. And first things first what makes these books holy? Any proof they were truly inspired by God through and through? The Holy Books create the same problem they are trying to solve. And they reek of man's ineptitude and manipulations. Complex cryptic writings that sometimes obfuscate the very truth they are trying to propagate; they would have been a lot more impacting if all they contained were the 10 commandments. As I have said before and will always say "religion, race, age, sex, orientation and creed aside just live your life in a way that causes as small inconveniences as possible to people around you"
Christianity EtcRe: Is Pastor Chris An Entertainer? by markovnikoff001(m): 8:23pm On Jun 11, 2011
Over the past decade or so religious messages have been watered down significantly. Gone are the days when true pietistic individuals attend church, people who went to church simply to get close to God, and the churches preached abidance with all the teachings of the bible and the punishment that comes with not doing so. But I guess that was too boring and stringent for the greater populace, so the message changed to something more attractive and we began to hear messages like "our God is not a poor God", "religion is not of the outer(dress sense) but of the heart, "give and you shall receive a thousand fold" etc. And suddenly it was an all-comers affair; people who went to church still did as they wished as long as they "asked for forgiveness each time" after all "Our God is a forgiving God"

Now people give all kinds of present to the Pastor just so that they could reap multi-presents from God-well the Pastor said so.  So the attention shifted from being truly Godly to owning enough materialistic possessions to lead a comfortable life. Even people that make their money by not-too-clean means have found a way to wash away the dirt off their ill-gotten wealth by giving part of their booty to a "Man-of-God". Suddenly pastors no longer are the model of  Jesus Christ, the one whose line they claim to toe, they have now become everything we see on "Fabulous Life of the Filthy Rich"

I guess the only way they can keep up with the kind of life they have become used to is to do whatever is necessary to keep the cash cows coming to their church, even if it comes down to providing a little entertainment for the congregation from time to time. So is Pastor Chris (and a whole host of others) an entertainer? YES!
Christianity EtcRe: How Many Here Have Read The Bible From Cover To Cover. by markovnikoff001(m): 2:35am On May 26, 2011
This is by far the most enlightening thread I have read anywhere ever, ever on Nairaland. At first I was going to go into a personal rhetoric but everything seems to be have been thoroughly whipped already, so I am just going to keep this concise.

One ability we were ingrained with from birth is that to know right from wrong; irrespective of your sex, orientation, class or creed, you will always(dare I use that word?) know when your actions bring joy to people and when it causes them grief. Whether you say doing good is of God, the opposite is of the Devil or good and bad are of either, does it count? Just live a life in a way to that causes as little inconvenience as possible to people in your sphere of influence 'cause at the end of the day, it is really what makes us truly human.

To the issue at hand, the only time I ever read the Bible(or was it being read to me?) was when I was in Primary School. As I grew older I had more questions than the Bible (or Science for that matter) could answer. But I believe in the existence of an all-powerful, all encompassing entity; Jehovah, Allah, M-theory, call it what you may, it is YOUR belief. Like Tuface said ", its good to be good, ".  For it is what takes you to "Heaven" or "Jannah" . Don't know if doing good alone suffices for the generation of "The Theory of Everything". smiley But it sure makes one feel fulfilled, which in itself is a good thing.

For those who might want to my stance: I strongly believe in Jehovah and I try as much as I can(within the limits of my failings as a being) to do good, but I do not have any religious affiliations.

Guess I failed at my attempt at making this concise.
