In as much as the regional governors over the years are more than guilty, this, is also a case for concern.
“Besides, fiscal policy of government makes manufacturing in the zone noncompetitive. Imports of a number of manufacturing inputs is restricted to Lagos, where there is an import inspection facility, making plants outside the Lagos area doubly noncompetitive against foreign and domestic producers. This explains why a number of manufacturers from the Southeast zone have large investments in pharmaceuticals, electrical goods and food manufacturing in the Lagos area, while their zone is deprived.” |

Jman06: If these PDP aspirants are wise, they'll relax and join forces with Obaseki to win Edo state from APC. Obaseki will serve his remaining 4yrs and by 2024, it'll be a smooth ride for PDP.
As it is now, PDP needs Obaseki's clouts to snatch Edo state from APC. Without Obaseki in the race for PDP, APC will have field day in rigging the election should Obaseki decide to play neutral. Those aspirants you see are not even in the race to become governors ab initio... They're only after their interests. All the gragra is to get better deal at the end of the day. It could be money, juicy posts,Senate... They're very wise my brother, not just the way you expected it. |

That's only sensible by half, see, when you guys make case for popularity, I ask: since when did our elections become free and fair and only popular candidates won? How popular was Obaseki as against ize-iyamu in the last general elections and did popularity won it for POI? Our issue is inconsistency! If it's direct primary, let it be accross board! Not some disgruntled godfather wannabe trying to be smart. Political patronage is corruption! Politics › Re: Time For Nigerians To Start Questioning People's Source Of Wealth by MarrisManah(m): 11:29pm On May 29, 2020 |
TheManhattan: Yeah right which money? Did you miss any money from your account? The fact you don't know how they make their money doesn't mean it was stolen. How is their source of wealth hindering your success? Do you you the kind of money being made in Dawanau market in Kano alone? That's one the biggest grain market in Africa. The market has over 200 internationally registered companies. The volume of cash transaction in this market will swallow any market in the south. Cash / liquidity, billionaires on mat chilling no bank loans.
Dawanau market is responsible for the bulk of the grains to the West African countries, Libya, cameroon, CAR. We have not even mentioned Giwa market in Kaduna. Million naira worth of trade goes down on a daily bases. Rather than cast aspersions seek knowledge on how to make money else you will still be here in 5years looking for your money that was never stolen.
Now I have not even mentioned Kankara and Dandume markets in Katsina and Maigatari market in Jigawa. Then Potiskum market in Yobe (cattle) and Aliero market in Kebbi (onions). Finally, add Ilella and Achida markets in Sokoto (sheep and goats). Lest I forget Maiaddua livestock market in Katsina.
My two cents is get informed and stop making blanket statement. Sallah is just two months away do you know how many cows and ram that is going to be sold? I have 6 rams and 3 cows that I bought in February at just 22k and 100k each respectively. I'm going to be selling them for nothing less than 80-100k / 280k come sallah. So far I have spent only 50k feeding them do the maths. My only problem was I wished I started earlier but thank God I started now. All these places I mentioned I'm visiting as soon as the lockdown is relaxed or lifted and I'm not going for sight seeing. You will see me in a few years time in my Rolls Royce and say he is probably into fraud or stole money from the government but I'll be too busy counting money to care what anyone thinks. I'm not saying all these to brag or support those who steal money from Nigeria, but instead of wasting my time forming Sherlock Holmes. I will rather use that time to make money.
And do you know how I got into this business ? I asked questions the right ones . And my eyes was opened to a whole new world of money making, you see that 100k or 50k you think cannot start a business na lie! You can be a millionaire with the right direction and knowledge. Nigeria is green and fertile forget what all those critics are telling you ....a diamond is always found in the rough. Shine your eyes brother and let's count money . I decided to take my time to respond to you so as to put things in perspective. Firstly, I was already born into a business family so I didn't have to ask much to be able to make money. I have business interests in the north central, north west and the entire zone in the south. No matter how much you think you're making now from your cow and ram business, I have made much more! I've traveled to over 7 countries including the USA, UK and UAE.And all expenses were from my pocket. But all these does not in any way change the fact that some persons are just sitting, pilfering and enjoying our common wealth! Or how come hundreds of billions of dollars have been lost since our Independence? If those moneies were appropriately utilized, maybe I wouldn't have spent a fortune sending my blood brother to India for a medical procedure that would have been carried out locally. When people ask these and other questions concerning sources of questionable wealths, it is within their right. No one including you have the right to shut them down. The country belongs to all of us. The more the number of poor and miserable people around, the more unsecured you and I will be even with all the money. Have you ever paid ransome to free a kidnapped relative before? Have you ever been a target before? Do you know how much I spent on security of my family members? Many of these vices wouldn't have been an issue if our governments (pasts and present) had done and are doing the right things towards making our country and it's citizenry better. Why do you think most successful young people still leave this country? Actually, I don't have issues with some random guys showing off on the internet- if you follow my comments on the thread you'll understand my position. People should be allowed to ask questions as they're all stake holders as far as the country is concerned. And by the way, as for the markets you mentioned, I will be contacting you on some of them when the need arises. |

I always laugh when some people erroneously ask 'why don't investigate their source of poverty' questions here and there, truth is, the source of wealth of the corrupt few is actually the reason for the source of poverty of many. So by asking for the source of wealth of those unexplained wealth, you're actually solving your source of poverty. You can't possibly make your own money when these wolves are sitting on our common wealth. |

OruExpress: we weren't living in the dark lol. What does that even mean? Do you see what I'm referring to? Someone will use their own mouth and declare that they were living in the dark until someone came to sell their siblings as slaves and tax them. And why is it dark? Because the person selling you to you it was dark? What type of Mungo Park discovered my grandfather is this?
lol. Again, 'education' won't do it. With or without education a person has to divorce themselves with self hate and perpetual negativity. If you're educated and don't do this, you'll just learn new english words to use when being negative beyond reality. Living in the dark is not derogatory my brother. Even the super sophisticated today had their dark times and they're not ashamed to admit them. They however, use it positively to show their current strength and status. Quality education will produce quality leaders that will make appropriate legislations to advance the course of the country. Now by no means will all these happen in a click. It's a process, a reorientation which may even become fully appreciated after a generation. An uneducated person is easily swerved by baseless propaganda and lack the ability to be independent in their thoughts. You can imagine a group telling you covid 19 is a scam...! Education touches all facets of our daily lives. And when you see a carpenter, auto mechanic, vulcanizer, even trader that is educated, the difference is always there. Look at the criteria for elective offices in Nigeria and compare it with 'them'- do you think we would be at this current state if we had consistently elected quality leaders across board? I still maintain that to divorce ourselves of self hate and negativity, to a large extent, we need to understand the effects of such actions on us as a people, that can only be possible through quality education over a period of time. Maybe I'm particular about education because I've seen first-hand, how people with less education process/assimilate information. It's scary! Moreso, when there's cheap internet to spread such thoughts. It's a full story on it's own. As for Mungo Park story, at least you were educated enough to understand the politics, what of 'we' that are not? We just follow/accept the story. |
Politics › Re: I Saw The Effects Of Our Negativity On Our Country And Ourselves. by MarrisManah(m): 11:07pm On Apr 11, 2020 |
OruExpress: The educated among us are even worst lol. Unfortunately i think the issue is spiritual if you believe in such a thing. Maybe it's time to start doing that difficult internal work of finding balance, self-esteem and purpose that many of us neglect. We fill our minds with evil and thus see evil.
If you wake up and think 'blue blue blue blue blue' over and over, blue things will begin to stand out to you through out the day. Often when a person gets a car or sees a car that's interesting to them, they begin to notice home many other people are driving that car on the road.
If somewhere in your mind, something is repeating 'pain pain pain pain, filth filth filth filth, hate hate hate hate, death death death death, enemies enemies enemies enemies'. That is all you will see. The question then is, what causing your mind to hone in on those words and how can we help you help yourself.
If you go to many evangelical churches (and increasingly catholic) you will hear it 'my enemies must die, my enemies must die, holy ghost fire, hold ghost fire, die, die, die, die, die, my enemies, my enemies, i am soaked in the blood, i am soaked in the blood'. Can you imagine the mind state of a person that listens to that 3 times a week (minimum)? Can you imagine how they will see the world and what parts of life will stand out to them? Or how that will shape their outlook as a person. Lol... Despite all your points I still believe education is the solution. It's not going to be in the short-term though. The difference between us and 'them' is education! You can imagine people that were intelligent enough to start colonization when we were still living in the dark. What will a learned and fairly comfortable man be doing in a group shouting fire, thunder, kill, die etc... With quality education comes liberation of mind and body, innovation that leads to better living standards. Sadly, even if we start now to make appropriate investments in education, it'll still take several decades to see a meaningful improvement. We, however, need to get started. I like your emphasis! |
