When a plane loses contact, it doesn't mean it has crashed.

Anything from electrical malfunctioning and malfunctioning craft components can cause a plane to lose contact, and eventually crash. But it doesn't mean that once a plane loses contact, it has crashed.

However, I am taking it that this plane has not only lost contact, but has vanished from the radar as well.

But the fact that a plane has vanished (unable to be tracked) does not mean it has crashed.

When a plane flies below cruising altitude, it would vanish from the radar.

But if that is the case with this particular plane, it must have been dropping pretty low for a long while now, and must have...

CRASHED.

I hope it crash-landed, though, with everyone on board safe and sound.

I disagree. The mamba is faster, more aggressive and can strike multiple times. Puff adder are dangerous but not in the same league as the mambas and cobras.

Tho the gaboon viper is a very deadly snake too but it doesn't strike people without giving warnings.
