Science/Technology / Re: Philip Emeagwali Among The Top 10 Most Intelligent People In The World With 190 by MartinsIfeco1(m): 10:30pm On Apr 01, 2017 |
Youngadvocate: Philip Emeagwali has been listed as amongst the top 10 most intelligent people in the world, having the acclaimed IQ of 190.
Philip Emeagwali, of course, is a renowed and world-acclaimed engineer, mathematician, computer scientist and geologist who was one of two winners of the 1989 Gordon Bell Prize, a prize from the IEEE, for his use of a Connection Machine supercomputer to help detect petroleum fields.
He has the 9th slot directly below Marilyn vos Savant, 8th with verified IQ of 190 and directly above 10th placed Garry Kasparov who is alleged to have an IQ of 190.
The Igbo-born Nigerian is credited for inventing a formula that allows supercomputers powered by thousands of processors to perform billions of calculations per second, a discovery that made international headlines and inspired the reinvention of supercomputers.
The supercomputer comprises of thousands of networked computers and the Internet also comprises of millions of networked computers. The supercomputer spawned the Internet.
Emeagwali’s 1970s hypothesis on 64,000 networked computers around the Earth led to his programming of 64,000 processors inside a big box to perform 3.1 billion calculations per second, a world record in 1989. For the latter achievement, he won the 1989 Gordon Bell Prize, which is the “Nobel prize of supercomputing.”

It is quite true in comparing our school fees with other technology school in the country one may say it is relatively high. But the extreme and aggressive actions was not and will never be the best way to sought things out. It was suppose to be a peaceful protest but i guess students who have grudges against the management due to other reasons took this as an opportunity to express their anger. This made things worse. Peaceful protest could have done better and a formal address from the vc could have done more *magic* Objectivity really is a great tool in judgement and i so much beleive the students would have a second thought when they try to see things from the school management perspective. anthonypeters: Students of the Federal University Of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) have taken to the streets to protest over exorbitant school fees fees levied on them by the school management. Politics / Re: Imo Workers To Get 3 Months Salary Arrears by MartinsIfeco1(m): 9:30am On Jul 05, 2016 |
mediang: Governor Rochas Okorocha has ordered payment of three months salary arrears to Imo State civil servants. With the governor’s directive, workers will get April,May and June salaries at once.
Okorocha, who gave the directive at the weekend during a meeting with Directors of Accounts, Treasurers and Permanent Secretaries at the Government House, assured that henceforth, salaries of civil servants would be paid as and when due.
The governor also set up a committee which would be liaising with the directors of Accounts and the stat’s Accountant-General every month to ensure prompt payment of the salaries of civil servants.
However, Okorocha explained that the 70 and 30 percent revenue sharing formula between labour and the state government does not mean that workers would get only 70 percent of their salaries at the end of each month. The governor said they could get more, depending on the revenue profile of the state at a particular month.
