Phones › Re: Don't Use Second-Hand Phones - NCC Warns by Marvell23(m): 8:30am On Mar 05, 2016 |
donogaga: The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has warned Nigerians to desist from the use of second hand and substandard mobile phones, saying such devices pose greater risk to the users.
Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Professor Umaru Garba Danbatta gave the advise at the occasion marking NCC special day at the ongoing 37th Kaduna International Trade Fair.
Professor Dambatta who was represented by Hajia Maryam Bayi debunked insinuation that telecom facilities like masts and towers pose health hazards to residents around such facilities, saying cell phones, pose greater health risks than masts.
While highlighting the numerous roles of NCC towards ensuring that telecom subscribers get the best of service from their service providers, the telecoms regulatory agency said, consumers must also play their roles accordingly in other to receive quality service.
According to him, “the use of substandard and counterfeit devices, have been identified as one of the reasons for poor quality of service.
“Today, there are different types of handset in the market. Some of these devices have been used and dropped in the other parts of the world. Some are devices that did not meet international benchmarks for safety and other requirements,” he said.

Phones › Re: What Good Andriod Phone Can I Get For Less Than 80K by Marvell23(m): 11:34pm On Mar 04, 2016 |
finefweshboy: I need an andriod phone of less than 80k. Ì prefer 2gb or 3gb ram and maybe fingerprint feature. I check the gionee M5 on jumai and konga but they sell 2gb ram while d online specification stated that it is 3gb. I also checked phantom Z but when i read some review on nairaland I felt the phone is just been overhyped. I also checked on lenovo vibe x2 but they told me it will be difficult to find parts if eventually the phone develop fault. So please suggest a good andriod phone of less than 80k for ma. Thanks in advance Xiaomi Mi4 , Tecno phantom 5 , Samsung J7 , Infinix Zero 3 etc |

Phones › Re: Losing Phone Contacts In The Smartphone Era? Quit Living In The Past! by Marvell23(m): 11:25pm On Mar 04, 2016 |
ExAngel007: There used to be a time when losing your phone meant losing all your contacts. Back in the glory days of feature phones, a lot of us would rather save our contacts on our SIM cards than have them on the phone. This is because even if you eventually need to flash your phone, your contacts are still intact right there on the SIM. However, losing that phone meant losing everything.

The world has gone past that and in this modern age, losing a phone shouldn’t mean losing important data. Cloud storage has always been an insurance against data loss but unfortunately, it isn’t receiving much attention in a country like Nigeria. Still, it’s unthinkable to claim you lost your phone contacts just because your phone got missing or stolen. If you’re using a smartphone and understand the basics of using the Internet, you have no excuse.
It’s rather surprising to still see people announcing on social media about losing their contacts in the event of a phone loss.

Contacts Synchronization With Google On Android
Almost everyone with an Android phone has a Google account.
At least, for Google Play, right? With this, you should always have your phone contacts automatically backed up to your Google account. Even if you lose your Android phone and eventually got another one, all you need to do is just enter your Google account details, enable contacts sync and you should get it all back.
https://geek.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/image-2-1024x878.jpeg
If you’ve an account already, go to Settings > Accounts > select your Google account and ensure that contacts synchronization is enabled.
Contacts Synchronization With iCloud on iOS
With an iOS device, you can still choose to sync contacts from your Google account. This is even more preferable especially if you’re on both Android and iOS. This keeps your contacts updated on both devices.

If you still want to do it the Apple way, be sure to enable iCloud from Settings and see that contacts synchronization is turned on even if you choose to turn off other features.

CallmeKola: I was with you up until your last statement. Reason being it's a relatively subjective matter. Personally, I consider an android better than the iPhone in almost all ramifications. I don't see anything particularly enticing about the iPhone. Life is too short to be cornered with restrictions. I want to be free; to do any and everything I want. I need something I can mess around with. It's all about functionality. Fvck prestige. Are you the guru type? una sabi vendor phone wella. |

greenhulk: Androids are like Toyota hilux while iphones are like Ferrari. There is no where a Ferrari will go that a hilix cannot go ( it might get there slower but it will definitely get there). But there are places a hilux can go that a ferrari cannot go. Try driving s Ferrari on a typical Nigerians Street and see if it won't get stuck. Or try driving a Ferrari on the beach, in a swamp, in the desert or in sambisa Forest or to climb a hill.
But does that mean the hilux is a better car than the Ferrari? NO. your analysis is amazing. Great job guy. This is the type of post that makes me want to be part of discussion. |
