Well, here is your better answer; Mrs Alhassan is not yet a governor. She would have to win the Appeal, maybe all the way to the Supreme court before she can be sworn in as governor. If that happens, she will be withdrawn as a minister.

I'd rather have a woman in charge of Ministry of Women affairs than her being the first woman governor. She would affect more people than having to affect just a state and her ego.

The answer lies in disgusting and nauseating party politics. The minister of finance was just a commissioner in Ogun state. That ministry is waaaay too big for her.

Even Amaechi started as a member of the house of assembly. An Otimkpu for Peter. Ikechukwu Odili.

Well party politics shouldn't change a country's constitutions.

I still need better answers tho
Politics / Re: Meet The Five Female Ministers In Buhari's Government by Marvinspeed(m): 8:00pm On Nov 11, 2015
I don't understand how Mrs Alhassan is both a Minister and a Governor is it constitutionally right?

Just seeking answers.

Our GDP and the 5%-7% growth was a manipulation by Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. Now the reality has manifested.

She manipulated World Bank figures? Okay, that's smart.

The Economy of a nation and the wealth of a nation are not entirely the same thing. Its the same as economic growth and development. China is bound to have a bigger GDP than the United States anytime soon but will that make them richer than the US? No.

The primary standard used in measuring a nations wealth is the GDP per capita. It provides a primary assessment of the capability of the citizens of a country to afford things that are beyond the basic necessities of life.

Relativity is the point. Our economy when compared to our population doesn't look great at all.

Equatorial Guinea ranks 24th on that list. Are you saying they are wealthier than Nigeria? Its obvious No is the answer.

GDP per capita only tells or shows the value of goods produced in Nigeria in a given year. The main reason we don't have a high GDP per capita is because we don't refine oil in Nigeria and we are more of an importing country than exporting, so these in turn leaves us to the winds of changes in exchange rates.

Like I said earlier we are not operating at an optimum level, the world bank ranks us as using 70% of our abilities, so there is room for improvement, meaning both our GDP and GDP per capita has a potential of high growth, that is why we are currently ranked 22nd in the world and a would-be top 15 within 20years.

At the moment we are not looking good, that's why there is potential. Also Our population also has a high level of youth, talking about more than 50%(I don't need to quote anywhere to say this) so I don't think we will remain where we are for long.

I'm not wrong anywhere. Nigeria only has a huge GDP, which is the standard used to measure economic activity. Our growth rate means nothing either, we have a higher growth rate than the UK and Japan but are we richer than them? Do we have better standards of living? Absolutely not.

GDP is not the sole standard in measuring a nations wealth.

GDP's are used to measure a country's economic growth, so as long as we have a huge GDP our economic activity is growing. Nations like the UK have had steady growths over periods of years and right now most of the top 5 economies have nearly full capacity operations, Nigeria is utilising about 70% of our capacity according to the world bank, so as long as there is progress our economy has the potential to grow to sizes of Japan and UK.

There are other measurements of a nations wealth, but the GDP(both real and nominal) is the most important tool being used to world economies. It is used by The World Bank, International Monetary Fund, African Development Bank and a host of others.

Nigeria has enormous growth potential. Check the projections of countries economies in the next 20years, Nigeria if it can maintain the growth potential in place now it will be among the top15 economies in the world.
Politics / Re: Common Lies Nigerians Tell Themselves About Nigeria. by Marvinspeed(m): 4:39pm On Nov 10, 2015
@Op you're wrong on a fact here, check Nigeria's GDP. According to the world bank we are ranked no 22 economy in the world and 1st in Africa. Nigeria has had a growth rate between 5%-7% within the last 5years. Get your facts right.

All these blame games will not take us anywhere.
There has been no economic policy or decision since May this year, all we keep hearing is there is no money. If there is no money won't you create channels of income. You don't need to be too smart to know this.
Sell govt bonds or something, ban importation of some raw materials, encourage private investments, build something, revalue the naira, encourage local companies. The list is endless.

Fruitful? No loan is fruitful, it only brings more debt
