NYSC / Re: How Much Did You Make During Your Nysc Service Year? by Marvinspeed(m): 9:12am On Jan 11, 2016
sundayslim:
I served in 2013 and funny enough in kebbi state. During my NYSC, I made around 400 thousand naira aside my alawee.

Let me quickly explain.

1. I offered to assist fellow corps members to save their money (Cuz its hard not to spend it) and in exchange they pay me 1k per month. I had about 50 people patronizing me during NYSC.

2. I helped polytechnic students type their final year projects and assignments at cheaper rate. God blesses me and my boss in my ppa allowed me use the office printer for free so I was making around 10-15k per week from this.

3. I taught in a private school as side runs. I was favoured in the sense that I only come when I have a class and leave once I'm done. I was paid 8k per month from this.

4. I held private home lessons for primary school children near the house. God so kind, I was making 5k per child each month. We used to meet 3 times a week. I had about 3 children.

5. I built a wireless network to help NYSC in the state speed up their camp registration process. This really helped me a lot. I read a few things online and applied it to help NYSC and it worked. In return, I was taken to 2 camps as NYSC staff still as a corps member. Made 40k each time aside feeding expenses.

6. I taught computer courses to fellow corps members at 10-15k each. Was able to train about 6 corpers during my time.

7. As the key drummer in my CDS (dance and drama), I made some money every time we were invited to perform at events.

Those were the major activities I engaged in during my service year.

I went on to use the money to pursue professional certifications, and today I can proudly say I am a network professional with competence in Cisco, Microsoft, Comptia, Huawei and Mikrotik network technologies, as well as project management according to PMI.

Don't ever be discouraged. There are hidden blessings and countless opportunities in the most unlikely of places.

Wishing you success all through the year.
25th birthday on March 24, 2016. You are all invited.

Cheers.

Birthday Mate, 3yrs younger tho. Currently Serving

The rich don't travel inter state they travel by air.
So those of you applauding this should think carefully, why were toll gate abolished? Why are they being brought back?.

To me this toll gates shows no signs of economic and infra structural development. there is a provision for maintenance of roads in the budget so what then happens when we are taxed for maintenance of roads, is that provision stopped?.

HARD ANALYSIS:

Divide your SALARY by 30 days and see what you get (i.e. the number of days in a month and see the funny thing about your salary plan).

For example,
(1) An average level-12 worker in the state government civil service earns NGN 60,000.
**** And this translates to NGN 60,000÷30= NGN 2,000 every day. This is LESS THAN the amount made daily by an AVERAGE HAWKER in the city.

(2) A freshly EMPLOYED GRADUATE BANKER in most NIGERIAN BANKS earns an average of NGN120,000 monthly.
***So everyday, you get NGN120,000÷30= NGN4,000 as the daily value for your work-life. By implication, this is LESS THAN the amount earned DAILY by an AVERAGE DRIVER in d city and in some villages.....

(3) If you are a FRESH GRADUATE EMPLOYEE in some oil companies, you earn an average of NGN300,000 monthly. So in a day your WORK-VALUE is NGN300,000 ÷ 30= NGN10,000
**** This is LESS THAN the daily amount earned by an IRRIGATION FARMER supplying vegetables to Lagos MARKETS, a TIPPER CAR DRIVER supplying sand for three BLOCK INDUSTRIES and CONSTRUCTION SITES just 3 times a day and DRIVERS of DANGOTE TRUCKS who have bought off the trucks at scrap value and are using them to convey products between villages and the cities for just five business owners.

--------->>>HOPE BY NOW, IT IS SINKING IN, RIGHT?

And when there is an ISSUE in the FAMILY that requires FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, the DRIVERS, HAWKERS and the rest are looking up to you with a WHITE COLLAR JOB.

(4) If you are an NYSC MEMBER, you DON'T need to be told that:
*****NGN19,800÷30 = NGN 660 is your worth on a daily basis.
I hope you know that PURE WATER SELLERS who own a shop, a pepper soup joint and a small TOYOTA COROLLA car to distribute pure water to five restaurants earn MORE THAN you & WHEEL-BARROW PUSHERS working on contract for three warehouses probably make MORE MONEY than you EACH DAY

............
We shouldn't end at satisfactions from these earnings. We should be more proactive, create room for more income and strive to diversify our streams of income.

The earlier you wake up and smell the coffee, the better for you......

I know of someone right now who will say this is too ideal to be true but take your time and do this analysis over and over again, and you will grasp the crux!!!

STOP waiting for the Government to feed you, feed yourself and help the Government feed others. That is where we are in this age.

DO have an Entrepreneurial week ahead!!!

I Thought its 20days a month corporate individuals work.
5 times a week x 4week=20days
Divide #150000/20= #7500 per day.
#300000/20= #15000 per day.
Just saying.

The Boko Haram and the Biafrans have one thing in common they want to divide Nigeria, the only difference is one is religious and the other is selfish interest.

To all those Igbo's (biafrans) thinking Niger Delta will join you guys must be high on something other than weed. The militants in the south fought against the degradation of their land and they got what they want. They dint fight to break up Nigeria.

Until they have a legitimate thing to fight for. This will pass.

Horayce:

How did you reach this conclusion that dropouts make up the world's richest? That's untrue. Generally, entrepreneurs who go to college usually out-earn entrepreneurs without a college education. You also have to wonder why so called entrepreneur "dropouts" like to go to the best schools to pick the best students.

No college entrepreneur out-earns a college drop-out, most of the world richest earned their college degrees after they've made their money.

That said the ones who went to school, studied a course that was in line with their passion. eg Warren Buffett
Politics / Ideals Needed To Achieve Vision 2020. by Marvinspeed(m): 11:08am On Nov 24, 2015
According to the World Bank Nigeria currently ranks no. 22 based on Nominal GDP in the world. Despite this we as a Nation are not performing at an optimal level because we are estimated as using 70% of our economic capabilities. Given this seemingly high rating our GDP per capita is ranked 122 in the world, and this is a measure of goods and services produced within the country this therefore makes a country highly dependent on imports and it won’t lead us to an optimum economic performance.

The desire to perform optimally can be achieved if our economy is modelled to be manufacturing and export driven; countries which are great examples of this are the United States of America and China. They are currently ranked as the top economies in the world and despite their high population rates they have strong GDP per capita ratings. One major step needed to take to become an exporting country is to get our refineries up and running as petroleum is currently a major input of our income. The refining of petroleum in Nigeria will be a big step as the price of the other variants (diesel, tar, kerosene, gas) gotten from it will be greatly reduced and this will aid the manufacturing process in companies.

Another factor we need to look at is the issue of power, China and America has invested in alternative sources of power such as coal, solar, waste, wind, nuclear, natural gas and hydro. Nigeria currently relies on hydro as its major source of electricity generation and this is a big problem as it is never stable and companies rely on power generation sets to effectively run their operations. China in 2014 produced 550TW hours of electricity generation while US produced 4093TW hours, Nigeria’s production of electricity stands at 6500MW hours which is a long way off. If Nigeria can effectively use alternative sources of power as mentioned earlier the amount of goods and services produced within the country will be greatly increased.

Stable electricity and the refinery of petroleum are the key areas which Nigeria needs to provide before we can be a top 20 economy and perform optimally if we do not tackle these areas we won’t achieve our goal.
