She is my sister and I’m in the UK
chemicalmyt:
Please also check the meaning of family as defined there. I believe you checked that anyway.

Hello everyone,

My sister applied for UK visa but made a mistake in her form. Where they asked if she has family in the UK, she said no but the answer should be yes Just few hours ago we saw this mistake. Do you know if there will be any implication please ? Do they really reckon with having or not having family in the UK.
Will this affect her visa? Can she write a letter to acknowledge this error as soon as possible and upload it along with her other documents.

Thanks

You will need visa whether it is a self transfer or just a stopover at any EU airport, except you get a valid Schengen, US or Canada visa. If not, you will need transit visa.
Tenski:
Hi guys
Attached is a photo of a flight i’m trying to book but before i do, just need a few clarification.

Pls what’s the meaning of “Self Transfer” when booking a flight?

Flight will transit in Barcelona for 2 hours. Will i need a transit Visa when booking such flight?

Thanks in Advance

Right….. we also read about varying the application but not sure how it works. We’ve contacted UKVI but they’ve not replied yet.
I didn’t see @Giselle237’s contribution but thank you for pointing it out.

dduchess90:
Hello

@Giselle237 also suggested varying your application, have a read at our conversation and see if you can approach it from that end

Also, you can call UKVI and seek more guidance on this if that helps

They may be able to tell you the status of your application and if varying it will be ideal

Cheers

No, Justwise, it was COS. She is a Doctor and her postgraduate programme is with NHS, so she is a Registrar in training, hence COS and not CAS. Now, she just got a job as a Consultant in another NHS trust.

You meant CAS?

Thank you so much for a well detailed response. Really appreciate
dduchess90:
Hello

You can't apply for 2 different visa categories at the same time

You have to withdraw one and put in the other, the risk now is her current visa is already expired,if she withdraws that application then she starts to become illegal

I assume the reason she requested for an extension was to repeat a course?

My advise is to wait till the previous application comes through and then she puts in a new application for skilled workers visa, she has up to 3months to use her certificate of sponsorship (COS)

If the time elapses, her employer will need to reissue another COS.
If she moves to an illegal status there's nothing they can do for her

Cheers

Good evening everyone,

Please, if you have been in this situation before, or have heard anyone who had been, kindly help!!!

My sister is presently doing a postgraduate programme, had a 3-month extension so he was given another COS for 5 months in order to apply for visa to cover the extension. She will finally complete her programme by middle of November.

She applied for the visa in July 2022. Her last visa expired since August. She is still awaiting response from Home Office.

Now, she has got a new job. Start date is November 20. They have issued a COS.

The question is, can she apply for the work visa even if the other visa is awaiting decision? Please help us, we don't want to waste money!!

Thanks for your help.
cc. @Justwise.

I think the “normal application” he meant is appli through the old portal. We’ve seen people who applied through the old IRCC portal decided to apply via the new portal and got their response faster
EmjaySimon:

Please which one is the normal application?
Because my husband applied for me via IRCC online platform , and I did my biometric January

Yes, include her back statement especially her pension account even if the closing balance is not much.
My mum is also retired. I always submit both her pension account and savings account statements, including the house documents that both my dad and mum built together. I also submit my salary 6 months payslips and my statement of account too, and will say I will 100% sponsor her trip with £1,100 as she will stay with us. She has never been refused and this is her 3rd visa. Best of luck.

Thank you. It was an unknown number but I’ve just send a paid mail.

Similarly, if it would go through, you may want to return calls to the number you missed.

Thanks Leef, I just don’t want to be a part of the reason why he was denied. Do you know which email I could reach them on?
leef2022:

Hello,
Well, someone dear to me in the past was and was deniedin parts based on the missed call.. The aunt who was indicated in the application as part sponsor of the trip missed calls the from UKVI, when a decision was made that was included as one of the reasons.
However, your family friend's case might be different as they spoke with your husband and you missed the call, that is I am assuming that the checks made on him is sufficient to reach a positive decision, however, If it a decision had not yet been made and you wish and can write them, pls go ahead.. Never say never

They tend to send emails nowadays

Hello House,

Do you get an email with a rejection letter if you are denied a visa, or do they still attach a physical letter to your passport ?

Please help if you have been in this situation before:

We gave a family friend an invitation letter to visit the UK. Home office then called yesterday, spoke with my husband and then requested to speak to me too. They got my number from him, called me twice but I missed their calls(we don’t receive calls at work), saw the missed call an hour later after work.
What can be done please? Is there an email address I could reach them on? Or will they deny him outright because I missed their calls?

Thanks.

Oh my! Did you receive the refusal mail along with collection mail or differently?
I wish you the best in your student application in the future.
ToyosiR:
Just got a refusal mail.

Cause: A large money (6 million ) entered into my account around September and It wasn't explained

I will wait for Master's route as I already got admission for September in 2 schools.

Let her come with a good supply of her medications. You can register her at your GP surgery as a visitor. You can also do travel insurance with AXA Mansard if you are keen on getting her a travel insurance.
In emergencies, visitors don’t pay for emergency treatment, except if the person is admitted on the ward.
Nnemomatina:
Biometrics done 30/11/21... Just checked and application has been transferred to vac.

It is a visitor visa for my mom to visit us in the UK.

Please who knows about good travel health insurance and has anyone here benefited from it..

Let me be preparing in advance.. hopefully the visa will be a positive response..

No refusal email received so far

Fingers crossed

No…. because the COS assigned number is only valid for one application. You will need to request another COs from your employer.

Pls can someone use a cos to apply again after the first application gets rejected due error in documents?

You are very right. He was only questioned at MMIA but since his return ticket shows he would be back 2 days before passport expiry, they allowed him to board. At the border, no one asked about the passport expiry. Thanks
Oggg:
u dnt need 6 months passport validity to enter UK. My cousins came with nigerian ppt expiring in 3 months. Nobody asked them nothing about passport validity at border.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by Marytee2: 11:32am On Jan 04, 2022
Thanks so much for your reply. He was able to travel as we realised the expiry date only 2 days before he was due to travel, so we couldn’t get a new one.
Ebalafaa:

This question is very subjective. Most countries require your passport to have at least 6 months validity to apply for a visa but the rule of validity at the point the passport/visa is being used is not clear. I was in this situation in November and could not get a clear response even when I contacted British Airways. A few people advised that since it was to enter the UK, I could use the passport but I just decided to get a new passport and was lucky to get it out in one week just before I travelled.
