In a year that has witnessed a number of aviation episodes, a potential incident was averted when a Jet Airways flight from Mumbai to Brussels dropped 5,000 feet in Ankara airspace while the pilot was having a ‘rest’. The co-pilot, meanwhile, was busy on her tablet and reportedly claims she had no idea the plane had dropped in altitude. A call from an alarmed Ankara ATC jolted the pilots into action. The Jet Airways flight 9W 228, operating on a Boeing 777-300 ER, was reportedly flying at an altitude of 34,000 feet when it suddenly dropped. Jet Airways confirmed it has initiated an inquiry into the incident, which occurred on August 8. In a statement, the airline said: “Jet Airways has initiated an internal inquiry into the matter. The airline is also extending all co-operation in the matter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation by providing all necessary assistance for the inquiry. “Safety is of paramount importance to Jet Airways, as is also the welfare of our guests and crew and the airline will always take appropriate steps to ensure the same.” A DGCA official quoted in the Economic Times, said: “In the initial inquiry, the co-pilot said that she was not aware of the reasons for descent and she was reading the flight manuals. “This requires thorough investigation and only then will we be able to ascertain the reasons.” Meanwhile, the carrier faced another incident today aboard its Delhi-Bhopal flight on August 14 due to an engine fire warning. Jet Airways confirmed the incident, saying: “Jet Airways flight 9W 2654 from Delhi to Bhopal had a precautionary rejected take off at Delhi due to engine fire warning. “The ATR aircraft has since been grounded at Delhi for inspection by the Jet Airways engineering staff. All the guests were deplaned safely and taken back to the terminal building without any event. The aircraft has since been changed and duly departed for its destination at 0850 hrs.”

shymexx: This is the true insider story of what actually happened in Damboa(I found this on a legit website about PSYOP and MISO online):This is really war and not just anti-crime fighting. Really hope the Nigerian Military would be more effective and organised in their approach to this war |
All Progressives Congress (APC) has spoken of how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Presidency, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Police and the Army plan to work together to rig the coming governorship election in Osun State on August 9. APC alleged that PDP revealed the plot in what it called “a moment of mad arrogance”. The allegation was contained in a statement by Osun State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Kunle Oyatomi. According to the statement, “The result of the August 9 election is already known to the PDP and the secret was let out of the bag by the chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State”. It said the PDP chairman allegedly boasted to close friends in Ekiti that “PDP victory in Osun was a foregone conclusion”. A credible source, who was one of the friends of the Ekiti PDP chairman, quoted him as saying that “any running up and down by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to avoid defeat is an exercise in futility. The PDP chairman further disclosed that ‘Osun masses would be jolted and embarrassed a few days to the election when the army and police would unleash militia dressed in full combat uniform and armed to the teeth would suddenly appear all over the state.” The PDP chairman further disclosed that “as the militia intimidate citizens on land, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in the zone and his aides, the Police Minister, Jelili Adesiyan, the Minister of the State for the Army, Musiliu Obanikoro, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, PDP National Chairman, and Omisore himself would be on a close patrol from the air and on ground of all polling units to ensure that nothing goes wrong. That was how we won Ekiti; we will repeat it in Osun,” the Ekiti PDP chairman was quoted as saying. Still quoting the chairman, the statement said: “The PDP will capture Ijesha axis from Rauf, in the same style they made Fayemi in Ekiti to lose in his ward”, and that PDP was making serious efforts to penetrate Muslim leadership with large sum of cash which will be donated by Kasamu Buruji from Ogun State. The amount PDP has earmarked for distribution to Muslim leaders is N1 billion, the statement claimed. Efforts are being made to also compromise the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Osun State, it added. Continuing his startling revelation, the PDP chairman in a most unguarded display of arrogance and power said, “the Presidency, Senate led by David Mark and PDP Governors promised to open their vaults to fund” the rigging exercise of Osun votes. “As at today, it was gathered that not less that N6.2 billion has been released to Omisore. To crown the revelations, the PDP chairman was alleged to have said that President Goodluck Jonathan is only waiting for Osun result to pronounce his 2nd coming.” But the APC said the only way the PDP can rig the election is for INEC to buy into this plan. “Indeed,” the party said, “we already have strategic information to that effect; and from what INEC is doing thus far about the permanent voters cards (PVC), including its sudden bold face on the card reader and the former electoral commissioner in the state, Professor Attahiru Jega’s integrity has already suffered a knock- out blow. “INEC may have been sucked in, in PDP’s plans and they must be ready for genocide and the consequences of their evil plot,” APC said. People should not be quick to judge the Nigerian Military. Even as most of them are irresponsible, there are still many good soldiers among. You say the Cameroon military is more effective but you didn't look at the part where 16 people died in order to rescue 1 person. In war, there's collateral damage and if your collateral damage is too great, despite winning such a war, you've lost woefully. Imagine if the girls are to be rescued by the same faction of the Cameronian military, how many people do you think might die? I'm not supporting the Nigerian military as the soldiers procrastinate a lot and are also largely mediocre at their duty but I'm trying to make you see reason why you shouldn't be quick to judge. |
dejgan: Why do you people turn the scriptures upside down? The post I sent earlier about John G. Lake, was a post I got that blessed me and I thought to share and deal with the sense of fear that was being spread over the Ebola virus. It is not in anyway an attempt to deny the existence of the virus in Nigeria, or to encourage anyone to seek interaction with the virus, but rather to assert a superior truth that is consistent with the scriptures and stir the faith of those of us who are believers in Christ Jesus. Secondly, while the story about John G. Lake is very true, his experience was with an equally deadly plague called the bubonic plague. I thought to send these corrections in the spirit of accuracy! Thanks. |
Please I'm sorry for posting this here as this is not the religion forum but I feel it's very important that everyone sees this whatever their religion or tribe. Several years ago, Ebola virus erupted in Africa, killing thousands without restrain or cure. The medical world was perplexed. A great man of God by the name John G Lake came to the rescue. Laying hands on infected people who were not to be touched. The slightest contact with any secretion from an infected person is all it takes for transmission. But with bare hands, cleaning secretion and curing every victim, John G Lake along with his Holy Ghost filled team, brought to an abrupt end the spread of the deadly virus. When asked by the medical world how he did it. He had this to say: I have the life of God in me, every virus that comes in contact with me dies. He asked them to get an innoculum from an infected person, observe same under a microscope to ascertain viral activities in it. They did and confirmed living and multiplying virus. He then asked them to put the innoculum on his palm and observe under the microscope. This time there were no more activities. ALL WERE DEAD upon contact with him. What a life! Every child of God has this life! He that has the Son has this life! That higher life that put out Ebola in the days of John G Lake will do the same through you in your day! At the Name of Jesus, Ebola will bow out! Stop the fear! Let this message of hope and faith go viral and the Ebola viral spread will stop! Don't disdain the ever living words of Jesus: And these signs shall follow them that believe, in my Name, they shall cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues, they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing (Ebola virus included) it shall not hurt them, they shall lay hand on the sick (those already infected) and they shall recover - Mark 16:15-18. John G Lake and team are long gone! But I am here, you are here! We can save our world! We have the life of God in us! Spread the faith! Stop the fear! Spread the life! Stop the death! Yes you can! The world belongs to you! Cause you belong to Jesus! Halleluyah❕ |
The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, says the commission has not been formerly notified of the impeachment of Murtala Nyako as Governor of Adamawa. Jega stated this while answering questions from newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday. He said that the commission had not met to decide on the conduct of gubernatorial election in the state since it had not been served any notice of vacancy in Adamawa Government House. According to him, “The law is clear on that but as at Wednesday morning, INEC has not been formally notified of the impeachment. “The law provides for three months to hold election while the Speaker of the House of Assembly takes over within the period in case of where the Deputy Governor cannot act. “We are law abiding and we will operate within the law if officially notified”, Jega said. The chairman said that if election was conducted in the state, the winner would only complete Nyako’s tenure while another election would be held during the 2015 general elections. Commenting on the possibility of conducting election on the three states under emergency rule, Jega said INEC was prepared to conduct election in every state of the federation come 2015. “We are doing our best to prepare adequately to conduct election in every state in this country. “We have never said that election will not be conducted in these three states. “We will cross the road when we get there. It is too early to speculate on where election will hold or not hold”, he said. Reacting to allegation that the June 21 election in Ekiti election was militarised, Jega said it was wrong for anybody to say that. He added that the presence of military men in the state did not disenfranchise voters but secured them. “Obviously, there should be minimum participation of security personnel in election as obtainable in some countries, but in Nigeria we all know the security challenge and the electoral law required the presence of security personnel”, he insisted. On the participation of the military in the forthcoming August 9 governorship poll in Osun, Jega said the military was a recognised institution for the protection of the country. “I want the security agencies to do everything possible to secure the electoral process in Osun State and in every state of the federation. “I also want them to protect electoral officers and election materials and ensure that the voting environment is peaceful to encourage people to vote”, he concluded.

Doctors in India have extracted 232 teeth from the mouth of a 17-year-old boy in a seven-hour operation. Ashik Gavai was brought in with a swelling in his right jaw, Dr Sunanda Dhiware, head of Mumbai’s JJ Hospital’s dental department, told the BBC. The teenager had been suffering for 18 months and travelled to the city from his village after local doctors failed to identify the cause of the problem. Doctors have described his condition as “very rare” and “a world record”. “Ashik’s malaise was diagnosed as a complex composite odontoma where a single gum forms lots of teeth. It’s a sort of benign tumour,” Dr Dhiware said. “At first, we couldn’t cut it out so we had to use the basic chisel and hammer to take it out. “Once we opened it, little pearl-like teeth started coming out, one-by-one. Initially, we were collecting them, they were really like small white pearls. But then we started to get tired. We counted 232 teeth,” she added. The surgery, conducted on Monday, involved two surgeons and two assistants. Ashik now has 28 teeth. Describing Ashik’s case as “very rare”, Dr Dhiware said she had “not seen anything like this before in my 30-year career”, but said she was “thrilled to get such an exciting case”. “According to medical literature available on the condition, it is known to affect the upper jaw and a maximum of 37 teeth have been extracted from the tumour in the past. But in Ashik’s case, the tumour was found deep in the lower jaw and it had hundreds of teeth.” Ashik’s father Suresh Gavai was quoted by the Mumbai Mirror as saying that his son complained of severe pain a month ago. “I was worried that it may turn out to be cancer so I brought him to Mumbai,” he said.

The Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, says the administration of ex-governor Murtala Nyako left behind a debt of about N12.8bn without any infrastructure to show for it. Fintiri stated this when former members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, led by Ambassador James Barka, paid him a congratulatory visit at the Government House, Yola. The acting governor promised to lay a solid foundation for the administration coming after the transition period to build upon. He said, “I assure you that justice, equity and fair-play will be my focus, and I will treat people equally irrespective of tribe or religion.” He explained that the legislature removed the Nyako administration in order to save Adamawa State, adding that the action was simply democracy in action. Fintiri said, “With the support I’m getting from the people of Adamawa State as well as the People’s Democratic Party in Adamawa and the Federal Government, and with God on my side, within the 90 days transitional period, citizens will feel the impact of government more than in the last seven years.” He expressed joy over the visit by his colleagues and sought their prayers, advice and support, stressing that his doors would always be open for them and they should not hesitate to draw his attention, if he was deviating. Earlier, the Leader of the delegation, Ambassador James Barka, had said they were in his office to congratulate him and to also express gratitude to him for leading a cause that freed the people of the state from misrule. He described Fintiri as a detribalised, non-religious person and promised him theirsupport. |
An American teenager who was trying to set a world record for flying around the world was killed and his father is missing after their plane crashed into the ocean off American Samoa on Tuesday night, the boy's family said. Haris Suleman, 17, was trying to make the trip in 30 days and was due home in Indiana on Saturday, his sister Hiba Suleman said. The teen's body was recovered. Still missing was his father, Babar Suleman, who was traveling with Haris and who is also a pilot. "We're hoping my dad is alive and well, and we're going to keep praying until we have a definitive answer," Hiba Suleman said. She told reporters the plane was about 23 miles from the island when it crashed. Her father wouldn't have let Haris take off if the weather was bad, she said. It is unclear why the plane crashed or why the duo took off at night. "He was doing something that he loved. He was doing something adventurous," she said of her brother, who received his pilot's license in June. And he was doing it to raise money for charity, she added. The principal of the high school where Haris was a rising senior said the school was deeply saddened by his death. "Haris' adventurous spirit and huge heart led him to reaching for this personal goal while also seeking to raise funds and awareness for schools supported by The Citizens Foundation, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan," said Melvin Siefert, principal of Plainfield High School. A soccer coach at the school told the Indianapolis Star that Haris was a great student and a talented player. "Haris loved to joke a lot," David Knueve told the newspaper. "He just got the team sort of laughing at the right moments." His sister said Haris planned to be an engineer like his father. The oldest sibling, a brother, was trying to get from London to American Samoa to pick up Haris' body but there were only a few flights, Hiba Suleman said. A Coast Guard spokeswoman, Petty Officer Melissa McKenzie, said a plane would aid in the search for Babar Suleman. He and Haris were wearing "gumby" suits that could help them survive a water landing, Hiba Suleman said. She said they had taken a course in how to survive a crash in the ocean. They also had life rafts aboard. The next legs of the trip were supposed to cross the Pacific Ocean, with stops in Kiritimati (also known as Christmas Island) and Hawaii. The plane has yet to be recovered, but emergency beacons were sending out signals. The National Transportation Safety Board said the plane was a Beechcraft Bonanza A36. |

@liberty, this post actually make a lot of sense and it gives a lot of insight into understanding the nature of men. if only women could read this and seek to understand men and their reason for certain reactions. Well, as to those who say that it's too long to be read, I guess the saying that 'put a diamond in a book and give the book to an African, he'd still not get the jewel cos he'd never even open the book much less go through it' is somewhat true. Endeavor to read things like this. It won't hurt or cost you anything. |

They think maturity has to do with age.have boys now become John The Baptist that they should clear the way for them?.One thing girls don't seem to understand is that fact that there are boys at 50 and men at 15.Maturity doesn't come with age neither does wisdom. |

Come to think of it, its not like they snubbed Nigeria. If Jonathan was snubbed, it's because his government has been mediocre and a shadow of the strength of the then Nigeria that helped South Africa and Africa as a whole. It's not as if they're insulting us.I see it as helping us cos they're only responding to the fallen standards of the then Great Nigeria and we all know that Nigeria's not so great anymore cos of our corrupt leaders.I think they're trying to tell Pres.Jonathan that he's fallen short of standards and after all, isn't it true?.I see it as a means of calling him to order and also a wake up call for him to set things right back home.I don't know if you're seeing things the way I'm seeing it but I'd implore you to go through the post again.Maybe you'll see what I'm seeing there. |
