Investors and entrepreneurs of South-Eastern origin residing in Lagos State have been called to replicate their investments at home in order to bring the zone at par with other industrialized regions of the country. The call was part of the outcome of a business roundtable on Saturday by Ndigbo Lagos Foundation, an umbrella body of Igbo residents in Lagos, held in collaboration with the South-East Governors Forum in Lagos. The roundtable was an integral part of a dinner party organised by the group in celebration of the 70th birthday of renowned Igbo industrialist, Arthur Eze, and investiture ceremony as the patron of Ndigbo Lagos Foundation, Nigeria. Speaking at the session, the Chairman, South-East Governor’s Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, noted that Igbos’ investments and enterprise spirit was the driving force behind the developments seen in Lagos and other big cities in Nigeria. Umahi challenged the Igbos in Lagos to begin to think home to guarantee the future of Ndigbo in general. He pledged the willingness of the Governors to provide both environmental and logistics support to such investors who may heed the clarion call for the economic emancipation of the zone. Umahi said: “We have a lot of our illustrious sons and daughters all over the country and beyond. “And so, what we ask our people is: what do you see? “What does the future hold for us if we do not develop the South-East? “We are fully determined, the Governors, to cooperate with our brothers and sisters, to give incentives, give opportunities so that if you have your businesses here in Lagos, you can have part of it also in the South-East. “We are willing and we will provide all the enabling environment, the opportunities and all the leverages that you may demand of us.” Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, in his submissions identified insecurity, power problems and the dearth of advanced infrastructures such as air and sea ports as some of the impediments to the full industrialization of the South-East zone. Ikpeazu however maintained that the present leadership in Abia State and most other States of the zone have taken bold steps towards addressing the issues with the aim of encouraging safe investments. According to him, the Enyimba Industrial and Economic City in Aba, Abia State situated on over 9,300 hectares of land with its strategic national and international location, has all it takes to incubate, nurture and flourish industries capable of changing the economic fortunes of the zone. Others who partook in the event, including Prof. Barth Nnaji, who spoke on power, as well as the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, agreed on the need for Ndigbo in general to begin to think home. Ekweremadu, while commending the Governors and the group for the initiative, however, emphasized that another day should be set aside for a more comprehensive and concrete discussion of the subject matter. The President-General of Ndigbo Lagos Foundation, Major General Obi Umahi (retd), in his remark said the event was organized essentially as an avenue for the Governors and Igbo Entrepreneurs to rub minds and set an agenda towards full economic revolution in Igbo land. Umahi added that it was also an avenue to honour an illustrious son of Igboland, Arthur Eze, whom he described as an industrialist and philanthropist of international repute. He noted that the group would continue to interface with the Governors until the South-East matches the development indices in Lagos and other major cities, adding that the Governors have expressed their desire to raise the development bar of the zone. While he expressed the plans of the group to establish Ndigbo Radio and Television Stations in Lagos soon, to manage its information sector, Umahi called on all and sundry of Igbo extraction to join hands to promote the growth and development of Igboland in general. “Let us unite, let us emphasize the things that bind us together,” he advised. Highlight of the event was the cutting of birthdays cake in honour of Eze and his investiture as the patron of the group. Among other guests at the event were the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim; Prof. Pat Utomi; and Prof. Sam Otu Anya, who is the Director-General, South-East Governors Secretariat, Enugu. https://theeagleonline.com.ng/south-east-governors-to-igbo-entrepreneurs-return-your-investments-home/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C6624092010 |

"Self esteem speech". |
You can't say that. It is for Nigerians to decide. Though, judging from the mess you made the 3 and half yrs you've been in office, one can safely say that your return to Daura is non-negotiable. |

Buhari wants to take corruption to the next level from May 2019. Nigerians will have to stop him in his tracks before he destroys the country. |

Why do some people go nuts whenever the Igbo Hebrew heritage is being discussed? The Igbo are indeed of Hebrew heritage. That's the truth and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Don't give yourselves unnecessary headaches. |

THE Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has berated South East governors for visiting the Presidential Villa, Abuja and praising President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the show as an act of cowardice and display of inferiority complex. The governors had hailed Buhari for the ongoing Federal Government projects in the geopolitical zone. Speaking at a church in Enugu on Sunday to celebrate Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu Memorial Day, leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, noted that the Igbo governors had shown that they lacked empathy for the general Igbo populace but are always after their own pockets. He said the visit was a show of inferiority complex by the Igbo governors. However, Madu advised them to emulate governors of other regions that have not gone to Aso Rock to praise the president for doing his statutory duty. “Why must you thank Buhari because of the 2nd Niger Bridge; something that is your right, something that by now ought to have been completed? You are thanking him for a project that was not funded in the last three years and in the next 10 years is not going to be materialistic? That is to show you the inferiority complex of our leaders", the MASSOB leader said. Madu warned that the 2019 general election may be the last with Nigeria as a united entity, saying that the group was poised to actualise its mandate, which is an independent Biafran nation. https://www.herald.ng/you-are-cowards-massob-tells-igbo-govs-over-aso-rock-trip/ |

So they just get up and go to events they know nothing about? This govt keeps insulting Nigerians at every turn. |
The next level should be a one-way trip to Daura. |
Paid group. Real middle belterns can't wait for buhari to vacate aso rock next year. Reason being that another 4 yrs of the buhari bruhaha would guarantee their total wipe off from the map through the menace of the fulani herdsmen, which, needless to say, they are not keen on. |

Threatening Igbos with their businesses has to stop. How many Igbo businesses have they destroyed in the north? Whatever happened to ONE Nigeria? The Igbos that chose to invest in the east may have made the right choice afterall. At least, they won't have to cope with these threats. |

The businesses of Igbo traders in Adamawa State are under threat, following an alleged plan by the state government to shut them down, following their refusal to pay tax that was not approved by the Adamawa House of Assembly. The Guardian investigation reveals that the purported tax introduced by the Ministry of Transport, asking motor parts dealers to pay N90,000 annually was not backed by state law. It was revealed that some state government officials invited some leaders of Igbo traders for a meeting at the Ministry of Transport chaired by the permanent secretary, Mr. Cornelius Dedan Nyari, last month. After the meeting, representatives of the Igbo refused to sign the purported agreement paper. It was alleged that Igbo traders were told at the meeting that Igbo businesses would be tax free if they agree to support the candidature of governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow and president Mohammadu Buhari; but the traders insisted that they prefer to pay tax that are approved by the state laws. When The Guardian visited the office of the permanent secretary, Mr. Nyari, he admitted taxing Igbo motor parts dealers N90,000 yearly, but failed to produce the copy of state law that empowers his ministry to carry out such duties of collecting tasks on behalf of government. He admitted that issuance of business operational permit is under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, but insisted that he has powers to collect tax from motor parts dealers. Nyari in a letter to the leader of Igbo traders dated October 15, 2018, after the aborted meeting said members of your association are therefore advised to come to the Ministry of Transport to register and pay all their outstanding annual dues, if they have not done so before now. This is the only way they can guarantee the continuity of their businesses in the state,” the letter read. When The Guardian contacted the Adamawa state chairman of automobile spare parts dealers Mr. Chukwudi Obika, he said that he was invited to the ministry last month to attend a meeting, but that after the meeting, he refused to sign a document the officials prepared before him and his team. On why he refused to sign the document, he said: “What was contained in the document was first not what we discuss and two the document was not made available for us to read it before signing, so we suspected a foul play in the matter.” https://guardian.ng/news/igbo-allege-plan-to-shut-down-their-businesses-in-adamawa/ |

These goons couldn't find anything to discredit Peter Obi with so they resort to whipping up tribal sentiments. Losers' strategy. Still wouldn't stop the Loser-In-Chief from going back to Daura come 2019. |
