The Nigerian Army has said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has no means of livelihood, but used “propaganda” to make people believe him.www.punchng.com/nnamdi-kanu-has-no-means-of-livelihood-says-army/

TimFisher:This is true. Much of our Omenana/Omenala is found in Deuteronomy. |
Big ups, nwanne. |
Why deceive ourselves? What's there to celebrate? Comatose power sector? Dilapidated infrastructure? Quota system? Remaining one nation is not an achievement. It doesn't put food on the table. We need to start demanding more from our leaders. |
How can Buhari support self-determination movements in other places and be vehemently opposed to the one happening in his backyard? |
The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State Of Biafra, MASSOB, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to let Biafrans go. The group noted that Python dance and other forms of intimidation cannot stop the agitation for Biafra. It also stated that they were not calling for disintegration of Nigeria but the freedom of Igbos. This was contained in a statement in Enugu, yesterday issued by MASSOB’s National Director of Publicity, Samuel Edeson. According to the release, “MASSOB is not saying that Nigeria should disintegrate. “What we are demanding is freedom of Biafrans. Any Igbo man or woman who wishes to remains in Nigeria is free and if any Nigeria feels to live in Biafra, he will be accepted. “If President Mohammad Buhari is supporting the states of Palestinian and Saharawi, why is he against Biafra freedom? “MASSOB wishes to make it clear that no amount of threats by Nigerian army, police and other security agents can ever stop us from pursuing our freedom. “What we are doing is legal, constitutional and justifiable and nobody can ban us because self determination is guaranteed by United Nations and the African Union charter, which Nigeria is signatory to both organisations,” Edeson said. The Pro-Biafra group alleged that it was for fear of international prosecution that the Nigerian government was considering pulling out of 90 international organizations it belonged to. “Nigerian government is afraid of prosecution by all these organizations. The genocide and war crime cases are at the door of Nigeria government. The Chief of Army Staff and the GOC 82 Division must face ICC. “Python should go ahead and dance, after dancing we shall see the end of Python. Biafra agitators cannot be banned. Nigeria, let Biafra go and you will have peace,” he stated. www.dailypost.ng/2017/09/30/pythons-can-dance-forever-cant-stop-biafra-massob-warns-buhari/ |
Jos – The entire city of Jos and Bukuru metropolis have been deserted following the decision of Ndigbo living in Plateau State to close shops. The decision was in solidarity with the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, which called for statewide prayers 24 hours to the touted quit order given to Ndigbo living in the North by Arewa Youths. Though the order was later withdrawn, CAN had called for fasting and prayers for the unity of the country, ahead of the country’s 57th Independent anniversary. The entire stretch of Ahmadu Bello Way, the hub of commercial activities in Jos and adjoining areas of Terminus, Muritala Mohammed Way, Taraba Balewa, were all deserted as Igbo traders obeyed the directive of the umbrella Igbo Community Association to stay away from their business areas on Saturday. Though there was no restriction of movement, Most markets like like Gada Biu, Satellite market, Kugiya market, Bukuru and Building Material along Bukuru highway were under lock and key. Residents were advised to congregate in their local churches and pray for the country. Main church services were however held at St. Jarlath Catholic Church Bukuru and headquartsrs of the Church of Christ in Nigeria, COCIN, in Jos. There is however apprehensions in town as residents move about cautiously. The state government had announced a dusk to dawn curfew in the wake of the clashes that occurred last week. It was relaxed from 12 midnight to 6 am. It is not clear whether a 24 – hour curfew will be imposed on Saturday as rumours are rife that the state government is contemplating such measure to stem any rise in violence. www.sundiatapost.com/2017/09/30/jos-stands-still-as-igbo-close-shops/ |
…those asking Igbos to return home are mischief makers – Northern Youth Coalition Leadership of the Igbo community in Northern Nigeria has said that, Igbos will not heed to the call by an association of lawyers in Anambra state, asking them to return home, saying that, the call is nothing but mischief. This was also as, one of the Leaders of the Coalition of Northern Youths, which hitherto issued quit notice to the Igbos living in the north, Yerima Shettima has assured them that, no harm will come their way by October 1st and beyond. Vice President of Igbo Delegate Assembly in 19 Northern states, Chief Chris Nnoli said, the call by the so called lawyers was not nationalistic and condemnable. Nnoli, a Lawyer expressed disappointment and dismay that professionals like lawyers could make such call. He however assured that, no Igbo man living in the north will heed to such call, because every Nigerian under the constitution of the country has right to live anywhere they feel like within the country. Nnoli who is also the President General of Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA) in Kaduna State said, October 1st remains Nigeria’s national day and they will all celebrate together as Nigerians. “We are not in support of such call and if lawyers actually made such call, because I also read the story in a national daily, then it is very unfortunate and are not going heed to it”, he said. In a related development, Shettima who also reacted to the call by the lawyers asking the Igbos in the north to return home before October 1st to avoid been caught unaware as it happened in 1966. According to the Northern youths coalition leader, the lawyers asking the Northern based Igbos to return home at the period are mischief makers and enemies of Nigeria. According to Shettima, “we are people of honour and respect. We honour our words. So, Igbos in the north can go about their normal business and they should not listen to mischief makers. “We have sensitised our members to ensure safety of every Nigerian, especially the Igbos and we can assure you that, nothing will happen to the Igbos by October 1st and even beyond”, Shettima assured. www.thenationonlineng.net/oct-1st-not-leaving-north-igbo-leader/ |

Former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Prof Ilochi Okafor has charged elders of Igboland not to keep quiet in the face of brazen intimidation by the federal government against the people of the South-East. Prof Okafor, who spoke during a special court session presided over by the Chief judge of Anambra State, Hon Justice Peter Umeadi in a ceremony to mark the commencement of a new legal year of the Anambra State judiciary, stated that the proscription of the activities of the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the South-East governors was done in bad fate. He also condemned labeling of the group as a terrorist organization and the deployment of soldiers to the south east, saying that the federal government had no justification for the action, but only sought to intimidate and bully the people of the region. “I am 73. If I do not speak out, when will I ever speak out? Is it in the grave? But speak out I must. Our bar is not all about holding dinners, attending weddings and funerals, where we eat and wine. Nor is it about holding conferences devoted to endless speeches and pontification. “If our governors, lawmakers and political class sit by and keep silent, elders should not. I urge elders to speak out now. The Igbos are peaceful people. Demonstration towards self realization of the right to self determination are recognized as fundamental human right in international law and united nations charter. “Nigerians are bound by such law, our people are issued with civil notice to leave the north or face very dire consequences, and no person has been arrested. The army has not been stationed in the north. October 1 is the deadline and is around the corner. Who protects our people presently in the north?” Okafor said that “it is a known fact that armies do not arrest civilians, rather police do, and that armies cannot be stationed against a peaceful people or demonstrators.” “Despite the verbal violence and grandiose rhetorics of Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB is not a terrorist group. No person has been killed by IPOB. Its rallies have been heavily crowded, but it has not been shown that any person carried or discharged weapons during the rallies. “Their exuberance proved the wide, aggressive and passion filled disconnect with Nigeria and the older generation. I belong to this generation, and we have failed our people. For the Igbo self-haters, the enemy within is a bigger threat than the enemy outside. “We must listen to our youths. Their dissatisfaction is real, profound and deep. The political class that sit in the comfort of their mansions in Abuja and elsewhere in the world must listen to the youth now or never. “To Biafrans, I say that you must continue to agitate peacefully. The world is listening to you. Your cries against our marginalization and threats to annihilate us must never be drowned. Never before has any group in Nigeria brought to the fore the imperativeness and urgency of restructuring Nigeria. “But as the Ohas of Ohaneze, you must find accommodation with the ezes of Ohaneze and other groups in Nigeria clamouring for the country to exist on principles of justice, equity, fairness and integrity and free of corrupotion, hatred and zealotry,” Okafor submitted. www.dailypost.ng/2017/09/25/military-invasion-dont-keep-quiet-face-intimidation-igbo-elders/ |
Wonders! Fulani herdsmen sef get mouth to talk. |
Great one, Op. Rightly countered all those flimsy, pathetic arguments. |
![]() I read this Op's last few treads. And I thought he was coming around. I must admit I judged him wrongly. Hating the Igbo has always been some sort of sport for Nigerians and it appears there's no end in sight. At least, its good the op is open with his impressions. To make one thing clear, though. The Igbo don't hate Igboland, their ancestral land. Who does that? Apart from being natural adventurers, Igbos are forced out of their homeland due to the dearth of amenities there occasioned by the bias of successive govts against investing there. there's virtually no federal presence there. The state govts can only do so much. This is the 50th anniversary of the civil war - the year of the Jubilee. Things have changed - forever. The next few months and years are Critical-cum-interesting. The Igbo will get respite from 50 yrs of state-sponsored oppression. |
PEOPLE from Benue State axis have kicked against Federal Government dialoguing with the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, as suggested by a former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Speaking in separate interactions with our correspondent, former Minister of State for Education and the national president of Association of Nigerian Authors, Professor Jerry Agada; socio- crusader and former Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, and Tor Zankara 1, Chief Abu King Shuluwa and General John Temlong described the dialogue as ‘abnormal.’ Professor Agada said the Federal Government had already taken a step by proscribing IPOB, adding that one line of action should be addressed before thinking of another step. He said: “We should all support the Federal Government for the step already taken and don’t think their is need for dialogue now.” Tsav, in his comment, said: “I don’t think there is need to dialogue with him, because he already has a case in court over the same matter. He needs be treated as a terrorist and not a freedom fighter.” Former politician, now traditional ruler, Shuluwa, also expressed concern about the attitude of Kanu, who he said was only trying to plunge the nation into another crisis. “Why should the president dialogue with Kanu? In every agitation, there is a procedure and such procedure must be followed, instead of trying to ignite violence in the country. “The problem with Kanu is that he does not know the consequence of war, because at the time we had a civil war, Kanu was not born. The Federal Government has already taken a step by proscribing IPOB. “This is necessary because what should be paramount to us is an indivisible country, so any group that wants to go should follow the due process.” Shuluwa, however, lamented the role of the media for giving unnecessary attention to Kanu’s agitation and the shift from the fight against corruption and revitalisation of economy. He frowned at the non committal role of the Federal Government towards the herdsmen/farmer crises. www.tribuneonlineng.com/dont-dialogue-kanu-ipob-tsav-temlong-others-tell-fg/ |
Op, for your info, being Igbo is the greatest thing, even since before sliced bread. Its a call and a mandate. Worry not for us. We will always survive. |
He didn't quite get it clearly. The army are not going to south west to dance. They are actually going there to smile. |
Op, it must not be Igbo na. |
ShyCypher:Flat skulls? Crocodile twerk? This guy sef... ![]() |
Hypocritical. ![]() |
This government sef... |
Make all man govern himself! Judging from the fact that we are all still very much clannish, I think its best we maintain the status quo, at least, for now. Maybe, until we become more liberal. |
The figure could be more, or less. But, the fact remains that there was deaths, people killed extra judicially. And this administration is responsible. That's why they were fast to declare IPOB a violent and terrorist organization, to sort of justify the killings. |
DanielsParker:But, damn interesting. |
Oh, the crazy Python is no longer dancing. Its now offering free medical services. Didn't know the Python was also in the medical field. |
dannytoe:Or he could try Operation Cockroach Fly. ![]() |
The speed with which IPOB was labeled a Terrorist Organization is a record on its own. Yet, herdsmen roam and kill freely. The most the government could do was to tell us they are from libya. ![]() |
Palpable fear gripped residents of Sokoto State as some youths, on Saturday, attacked Igbo traders in the state. The incident, which visibly shook Igbo merchants on Bello Way and Emir Yahaya areas of Sokoto metropolis, forced other Igbo traders at nearby Sahara street to close down their shops and run for safety. SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that armed youths, in their hundreds, set ablaze a building along Bello Way, where Igbo traders have shops. One of the victims, identified as Chief Okafor, said, “My house was razed by some suspected arsonists. “I got a call from my wife that some youths had invaded my house and set it ablaze. My family narrowly escaped the attacks.” Another victim, William Emmanuel Usoh, told journalists that his Honda Civic car was torched by some unidentified youths along Emir Yahaya Road. Usoh explained that the timely arrival of men of the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps, however, prevented the youths from destroying more property in the area. When contacted, the President- General of Igbo Community in Sokoto State, Charles Uwaga, confirmed the incident. He said reports reaching him indicated that some of his members were attacked within the state capital. “A member just called me that his house was razed. There were also cases of vandalised shops,” Uwaga said. Reacting to the development, the state government urged all residents to go about their activities without fear of molestation. The government stated that arrangements had been put in place to protect lives and property. The spokesman for Governor Aminu Tambuwal, in a statement, said the unrest in other parts of the country, especially the South- East, would have no negative effect on residents of Sokoto. He lauded the people of the state for being their brother’s keeper and urged them to engage in acts that will promote unity and understanding at all times. www.punchng.com/thugs-attack-igbo-traders-in-sokoto/ |
