The federal government says an investigation is still ongoing into the quit notice issued to the Igbo by the Arewa youth, and that whoever is found guilty will eventually be brought to book. On June 6, some northern youth groups led by Arewa Consultative Forum had asked the Igbo to leave the region within three months. The groups also threatened to take over the property of the Igbo in the north. But they withdrew the ultimatum last Thursday, a few days after President Muhammadu Buhari declared that Nigerians were free to live anywhere in the country. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, Abubakar Malami, minister of justice and attorney-general of the federation, said the investigation into the matter is not time-bound. “The way the government works is that a lot of considerations naturally come into play. One is investigation, which is not time-bound; two, security consideration; three, expeditious determination and consideration of public interest,” he said. “But one thing that is certain is that the government is ever alive to its responsibilities and whoever is found wanting, regardless of the length of time, will definitely be brought to book. “That is the way it works. I assure you that the government will, within the context of its responsibilities, work to ensure good governance, justice, peace and fairness in the nation.” Malami’s explanation came on the same day some United Nations human rights experts called for the prosecution of those behind the quit notice. Abdulrahman Dambazau, minister of interior, had on August 12 said the Arewa youthhad denied making any inciting comment. “They (the youth) later claimed the media quoted them out of context. I am very much aware that the DSS invited all of them, held a meeting with them to which they made a statement to the effect that what was reported in the media was not what they said,” the minister had said. https://www.thecable.ng/igbo-quit-notice-no-matter-long-guilty-will-brought-book-says-fg |
Not even Igbo presidency’ll stop quest for Biafra — MASSOB Nigeria’ll disintegrate faster than expected, if Kanu is re- arrested–IPOB APEX socio-cultural organization of the Igbo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has commenced discussions with pro- Biafra groups in Igboland. The parley which commenced yesterday at the national secretariat of the Igbo body in Enugu, had in attendance the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, led by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu. In the same vein, Governor Willy Obiano of Anambra state yesterday declared support to Ohanaeze Ndigbo in its position against Federal Government’s plot to re-arrest the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi. Governor Obiano also said that the purported withdrawal of the quit notice threat to Ndigbo by Arewa youths should not be accepted or taken seriously. Obiano spoke, yesterday, at the National Secretariat of Ohanaeze in Enugu, through his Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu. Awogu, who is also Obiano’s liaison officer on Biafra war veterans, was at the Ohanaeze secretariat on the day Ohanaeze leadership met with MASSOB. Meantime, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has warned that if its leader is arrested again, Nigeria will disintegrate faster than the Arewa North expected, just as it berated the Arewa Consultative Forum and Chief Paul Unongo for their alleged attack on Ohanaeze Ndigbo and its president, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, for what it called their defence for the truth. IPOB, in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Powerful said Nnamdi Kanu is being villified by the Nigerian government and some failed politicians and uninformed groups who are seeking political and ethnic relevance. The statement read: “We, the Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide, under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu condemn in its entirety, the statement credited to the Arewa Consultative Forum and their decorative happy-slave chairman, Chief Paul Unongo for daring to attack Ohanaeze Ndigbo and its chairman, Chief John Nnia Nwodo for rising up in defense of the truth. “This truth is that IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has not committed any crime known to the laws of Nigeria to warrant his re-arrest. If Nigeria ever had a case against our leader, why has the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, not commenced the trial since October 2015 when our leader was first arrested?'” Speaking with newsmen after the meeting with Ohanaeze in Enugu, MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, who hinted that Ohanaeze will soon hold similar discussions with IPOB, said that not even ceding of Nigerian presidency to Ndigbo will stop their quest for restoration a Biafra republic. Madu said the meeting with Ohanaeze was a family matter where they discussed many issues of Igbo interest. He said: “This is the first time, we are meeting with Ohanaeze leadership and we see them as our fathers, whereas we are the children. “We felt that the long gap should be breached. Today in Ohanaeze secretariat, we met with our fathers. In as much as we disagree on many things with them ,today (yesterday) as we interfaced, we resolved to work together for the interest of Ndigbo. “With the way they talked, we believe that action must be followed with much of the talks.” Madu disclosed that even though Ohanaeze is talking about restructuring of Nigeria and the safety of the Igbo property outside Igboland, his group are less bothered about the property, noting that what is more important is the restructuring of the minds of Ndigbo. He also said MASSOB is not bothered by the loss of the property of Ndigbo outside the East as the lives of Ndigbo are more important than their properties. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/ohanaeze-parleys-pro-biafra-groups/ |
Those coming back are highly welcome. Those remaining in the north had better watch their back. Be security conscious. |
Unbelievable! And to think that this is just the first phase! Glad he invested in Igboland and not elsewhere. His investments are safe on home turf. Besides, he's also empowering the locals. Our people should learn from him. |
The Biafra National Guard, BNG, has declared that the sovereign State of Biafra will not be restored through peaceful means because the Nigerian government does not understand “peaceful language.” Leader of BNG, Innocent Orji made the declaration while calling on the Federal Government to release all Pro-Biafra agitators locked in various prisons because freedom fighting is not a crime. He warned that the day of reckoning is near for the Nigerian government if it fails to release Biafra agitators incarcerated across the country. In a statement he signed, Orji noted that the time of carrying placards and receiving live bullet and being detained has passed in the fight for the restoration Biafra. According to Orji, “We are calling on the federal government of Nigeria as a matter of urgency to release all pro-Biafra agitators incarcerated in their prisons because freedom fighting is not a crime. “If the likes of Maduka Mmadu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, David Nwawuisi and different pro-Biafra groups’ members committed crimes; Nelson Mandela of South Africa is not supposed to be crowned and celebrated but scorned as a criminal and also Martin Luther King Junior, Mahatma Gandhi of India committed crime. “Time has gone when we continue to carry placards and receive live bullets and bury our own of detain our own, if Nigeria fails to release them, the day of reckoning for Nigeria is near. “Thousands of our people have died unjustly, Nigeria military found strength in killing us but unable to tackle any armed outfit like Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen killing and raping our women. “We are opposed to peaceful restoration of Biafra because Nigerian government doesn’t understand peaceful language. Because of the continued massacre of defenseless people of Biafra, Biafra National Guard, BGN will unveil her second agenda towards Biafra restoration.” www.dailypost.ng/2017/08/21/biafra-igbo-nation-will-not-achieved-peace-bng/ |
- Three south east group presented names of 7 Igbo politicians for 2019 presidency - The groups promised to raise campaign fund for the Igbo politicians who is chosen by any of the parties - It warned that the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu will spell doom for Nigeria Three South-East groups, World Igbo Youth Movement, Igbo Students’ Forum and Igbo Diaspora Women have presented seven Igbo politicians that may win the presidency in 2019. The Sun reports that the group presented seven names after an initial longlist of 20 so as to fulfil the Igbo presidency project for 2019. The seven politicians are: 1. Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha 2. Former Abia State governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu 3. Former Senate president, Chief Ken Nnamani 4. Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu 5. Former governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi 6. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (retd.) 7. Chief Chekwas Okorie The groups also promised to raise N3 trillion for any of the candidates that emerge as the presidential flag-bearer of any of the political parties in 2019. They promised to provide the final shortlist of three politicians on October 1 that will likely represent the interest of the Ndigbo in 2019. Part of the communique read: “We met today in Enugu to review our earlier stand on the 2019 presidency as well as other burning issues in the polity and firmly took the following decisions: “That there is no going back on the Igbo presidency project as it remains the only way to appease Ndigbo and ensure equity, justice and fairness in the scheme of things in Nigeria. “Out of the 21 persons earlier shortlisted for the position, the following persons have now scaled through a screening process by a special committee set up for that task. “For the All Progressives Congress (APC), we have Governor Rochas Okorocha, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu and Chief Ken Nnamani; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – Chief Ike Ekweremadu, Chief Peter Obi and Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, (red.); United Progressive Party (UPP), Chief Chekwas Okorie.” The group said it screened the politicians including considering their track record and health status. “As we said earlier, the possible candidates should not bother about the campaign fund as over N3 trillion shall be mobilised from the diaspora for the project. So, we want to re-assure our people that the resources to achieve this project will be available through sons and daughters of Igbo land abroad. "Mobilisation is on top gear and shall be fully kicked off on October 1, 2017, when we will shortlist the last three persons that shall fly the flag of the above parties on behalf of Ndigbo." The groups also called on Igbos not to work as campaign managers for politicians from other regions. They also reviewed the case of Nnamdi Kanu and warned that his rearrest will spell the end of Nigeria. “We caution Nigeria may cease to exist if Nnamdi Kanu is re-arrested. This may also be the fate of the country if the planned October 1 massacre is carried out against Ndigbo living in the North. Arab spring is starring us in the face with the current genocide being packaged to take place in the North.” https://www.naij.com/1120656-south-east-group-present-names-igbo-politicians-2019-presidency.html |

CHAIRMAN of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has described as a joke, the recent quit notice issued by some northern group to Igbos leaving in the north as well as the counter threat given by some militants in the south south. In a statement made available to the media in Abuja on Tuesday, he said the threats must nipped in the bud. He also cited the call by Benue youth for the Fulanis to quit their land as another worrying development that must not be allowed to stand. He observed that no true Northerner would not support the quit notice issued to the Igbos in the north. Jibrin revealed that Fulani elders and concerned groups had met and a delegation under his chairmanship would be visiting all parts of the country to reconcile the Fulani herdsmen, farmers and various communities. While warning against hate speeches, Walid said: “I want to advise all against hate speeches. Instead, we should find ways and means for unity and peace and allow us have permanent places where ever we are in Nigeria. “To continue to call for Igbos in the north to quit is enough joke which must stop immediately. “Another call from militants in the south-south that Northerners and Yoruba’s should leave must stop. “The recent call by Benue youth that the Fulani herdsmen living in Benue must leave should stop because recently the Fulani elders and concerned groups have met and a delegation under my chairmanship is to visit all parts of the country to reconcile between Fulani herdsmen, farmers and various communities. We have started with Taraba. “A true Northerner does not at all support Igbos to leave the North. “We must be allowed to live freely in any part of Nigeria. Many concerned Northerners have a movement called ‘The Protection of Igbos in North’, under my chairmanship from North to Western Region and vis versa.” www.tribuneonlineng.com/igbo-quit-notice-joke-―pdp-bot-chairman/# |

Its good to see the Middle Belt taking independent stands on issues - not always aligning with the core North, acting as willing tools. |
Apparently worried about the myriad of challenges that has plagued the region over the years; youths under the aegis, Middle Belt Renaissance Forum has vowed to work together towards restoring the lost glory of the region. In a meeting in Abuja over the weekend, attended by representatives of youth groups from all the states making up the Middle Belt Region discussed extensively on topical issues confronting the area. In a communique issued by its convener, Comrade Jones Simon Alfa, the forum urged governors of the region to be mindful of their actions and inactions. It said: “The Middle Belt Governors should sit up to their responsibility of governing the people who voted them to power instead of the sudden primitive accumulation of wealth at the detriment of the suffering voters. “The Middle Belt Youths will no longer take the recklessness of the Governors in arresting Media Practitioners ,Bloggers and Social Media Crusaders e.g Kaduna Governor and that of Kogi who are clear examples.” On the Biafra agitation, and attacks by herdsmen, the forum said: “The Middle Belt is not in any way part of the Northern agitation for the Igbo’s to vacate by 1st October. We have been living with the Igbo’s peacefully in our localities and will not join in the call for secession. “All herdsmen should vacate the Middle Belt Region before 1st October, 2017 or there will be total war if they are not ready to live in peace. “The core North should to stop using the Middle Belt people in achieving their selfish political and economic aims and objectives as was the case in the past – We are not Northerners,” the statement said. www.leadership.ng/2017/08/07/middle-belt-youth-gives-herdsmen-quit-notice-caution-biafra-agitators/ |
DESPITE the peace talks held between leaders of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) and their counterparts of the Igbo extraction, Ndigbo are insisting on relocating their wives and siblings to the South-East before the October 1 quit notice deadline for them to leave the North. This came just as a top member of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Kindness Jonah, disowned the Igbo leaders that met with the CNG leaders in Kano, the Kano State capital, on Friday, as part of efforts to reach a compromise on the standoff. She said the pan-Igbo Organisation leadership did not represent Igbo interest as much as Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB ) does. The highpoint of last Friday’s meeting was the setting up of 10-member joint to resolve the logjam, which necessitated a series of consultations and meetings at the instance of the Presidency with leaders from the North and the South-East some months ago. According to some Igbo, who interacted with Sunday Tribune, there is no boing back on their resolve to relocate their wives and children to the South-East as they are not ready to leave anything to chance. Though some of the leaders had declared that they were not going anywhere during the interactive session with CNG under its leader, AmbassadorShettimaYerima, the people said it was necessary to take preemptive measure, as Yetima said the quit notice would subsist. The committee was given 72 hours to come up with a position that can douse the tension created by the quit notice. The president of EzeNdigbo in the Diaspora, Igwe Boniface Ibekwe, lamented that the quit notice was already taking a toll on the economy of the Igbo in the entire North and other parts of the country. When Sunday Tribune visited the popular Abubakar Rimi market located in the heart of Sabongari, where most non- indigenes reside, the dominant issue of discourse was their plans based on the quit notice. One Mrs Esther John from Anambra State told the Sunday Tribune that after exchanging greeting by a friend, Madam Eunice Okechuwu, said: “my Oga has secured a self-contained apartment in Onitsha, paid a sum of N200,000 for a year.” Also speaking, Igbo who identified himself as Baba Ebuka, who lived at Burma road, told Sunday Tribune: “life is for the living and I could recall that three months before the election my family moved to Nsuka in Enugu State. “I thank God I am not like other Igbo who put all their eggs in one basket, as I have a house here in Kano. God has equally helped me to build one in my state. Therefore, before that time, my family will certainly move down to the house.” In his own remarks, Chief Okafor Emmanuel, said: “I am not entertaining any fear because most of my children are grown up and many of them are already in Abia State, though my wife and I have equally made up our mind to relocate to where her children are.” www.tribuneonlineng.com/despite-peace-moves-igbo-plan-exit-kano/ |
Good looking lady. |
The Igbo are Hebrew. |
Northern Nigeria is about to spray their own feet with bullets. They are about to put the final nails on their own coffin, effectively ending their strangehold over Nigeria. The seem to be doing this with much gusto, too. They got away with some things in the past. They don't seem to know yet that times have changed. Interesting times ahead. Nigeria will yet be free - free to grow, free to blossom. The world is waiting for Nigeria. |
