Not entirely true....Land Use Charge I think started under Tinubu Govt. Lagos used to be very terrible in the past. Oshodi was a hot mess. Bariga looked like ghetto and so on. The reason you have lots of gated communities in Lagos was due to insecurity. Lagos did something about it, and even raised funds for security. That is why Lagos is where she is not because of some colonial conspiracies from 100 years ago

I guess, Lagos just had the highest number of colonial masters and colonial settlements, resulting in the highest number of administrative offices and processes, leading to it being the capital of Nigeria in the past.
Structures were already in place, set by the British to make things happen in Lagos, unlike the other states in Nigeria. We of today are just carrying over those processes already laid down.

Lagos is the ONLY state that has mastered property tax collections. Oyo State does not even collect close to 5%. I just paid the one in Lagos for my Dad...over N150k for 3-4 years paid. Now imagine paying that all over Lagos, and some properties are worth Billions. The other states need to start Property Taxes. Even if its N5k for Bungalow and N10k for duplex and storey buildings, you can raise a lot of money from that. I have a template, and I would gladly share it with any state govt. You can raise more than what you collect in Abuja, and you can also provide loads of employment for the Youths in the process.

In 3 years, that is over 80,000 deaths by gun violence alone....but you will not see USA propagating negative news like we do all the time. Then we wonder why the world is not investing because they all think we are the worst of the worst.

Until we get judiciary right in Nigeria...nothing else would work. In this video, a woman who was described to be the owner of a phone store was seen hum!liating one of her sales reps for letting a customer steal an iPhone 15 worth over two million naira (#2, 000,000) out of her not being vigilant enough. If you are smart and young...best to japa. Had 5A1s, 2 Bs...rest is history. Was it tough abroad yes...but all in all, they appreciate and reward excellence..you won't need to always know godfathers. Even my US Professor when I decided to withdraw one semester just so I can afford my rent had a meeting at the Dept and offered me full academic scholarship to cover my final year. Masters - full scholarship.

I am a teacher now, and I love what I do in addition to running my tutoring business and my Naija NGO. I agree Nigeria does put limitations on its people...but if you don't have age, smart or zeal on your side...japa will be a major nightmare than Nigeria.

1. Create Truck stops and check for road worthiness in all states
2. Issue certificates of compliance once every 6 months

5. Hold insurance and truck companies accountable when accidents occur...payout should be in millions to the victims

Reading these comments, I can see why we are where we are today

1. Govt insisted on SIM-NIN integration, some are still yet to do it
2. Govt clearly has a way to track phones now but the populace are still ignorant
3. Security agencies wont disclose what they are doing as this is not the best practice. I am sure they are on top of it.
4. Even in sane countries, you cannot eliminate crimes totally so why blame Tinubu/Shettima...blame the parents that failed in raising their children.
5. why would anyone still travel late or in high kidnap zones...what were they looking for? I pray they are rescued safe and sound.

Please don't travel at night. If you can avoid it, don't even travel. If you must, take multiple precautions.
