when usa, uk and Germany were doing normal. Only few people reason canada. Unlike those other countries canada has an aging population, women who prefer to own pets give birth. Has to choice really than to keep inviting people cheesy. Even employers most time have no choice than to employ migrants as they cant find alternatives.

Every western nation has an aging population. Germany didn't let all those arabs in because they are nice people. Canada is now popular because they don't play any games with people's lives and they're honest. If you have what we need or want, we'll give you PR. Then in 3 years if you behave yourself we'll give you citizenship. No games whatsoever. I have people in the US and UK running to Canada. They fell for the hype.

Wow! Three decades? Mehn, Canada is an outlier amongst western nations regarding immigration.

Back then and even till now Canada doesn't really advertise themselves like other developed nations. Hence why people use to run to America or UK, and they're now in Canada. Those countries are professional marketing firms. Also the stereotype that Canada is unberiably cold.

Lastly, Canada is surrounded by ocean to the east and west, then America to the south, and the north pole to the north. It's the hardest country to sneak into honestly.

It seems like the reply was meant for a different post instead of mine.

Gladly. I lived in the UK for a couple of years before I moved to Canada. I had a university education in the UK; hence, the name Salford..

Anyway, where in my post did I mention that racism doesn't exist in Canada ? I said we detest racism, discrimination, Trump's style of politics e.t.c, atleast the majority of people here detest such.

Unlike the UK, Canada is a country of migrants meaning the majority of whites here are recent immigrants themselves. Within 2 years, I lost count of the amount of time I was told to go back to where I came from when I lived in the UK. Almost a decade here in Canada now and not one single incident.

Telling me not to get comfortable. GTFOH grin
Actually, I am getting very comfortable and even getting more comfortable as the day goes by. You can't really understand. I doubt if you have ever lived in Canada, so I will pardon your ignorance
. wink

My only regret is that I discovered Canada later. I should have moved here for studies instead of going to the UK, but all my siblings live in London, England, so it was natural that I leaned towards UK before I thought of Canada. However, I have caught up with my peers here and doing great.

Cheers!

Ps: Canada has always accepted immigrants, mostly from Europe, Asia and Africa. People just do not fancy that it is an extremely cold country. I have met Nigerians that have been here since the 1990s. Heck, a Nigerian graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Pharmacy program in the 1950s. The skilled program has been around for over 3 decades. It just recently became popular due to social media and affordable internet.

As per Brexit, Brexit was more of shutting out fellow European nationals. Especially those from Eastern Europe being governed by anti immigrant and dictators like Viktor Orban of Hungary and a few others that of turned those countries to latrine pits of Europe.. I can't find any similarities between migrating to Canada and Brexit.

I've met Nigerians in Canada who were born in Canada in the late 70's to mid 80's.

These are my thoughts too! Africa is loosing so many skilled individuals everyday because of our shitty leaders. It's sad. sad

Those who come over to the west send home billions each year. On top of that, some will purchase or build homes, while spending millions if not billions on visits. People leaving helps the economy more than you think.

There is a difference between a war and a terrorist attack.

War and terrorism is subjective. It depends on who you ask and their position.

It's ridiculous to judge the "lack of racism and discrimination" in a country based on the current president who will leave office at some point.

Canada has always had very few immigrants living amongst them.. what do you think will happen when citizens start seeing more and more foreigners in their country? ....remember years ago when people used to praise the UK for its hospitality towards immigrants? yeah, until the citizens voted Brexit to the shock of many.. (we all know the Brexit vote was laden in covert racism, people getting fed up of immigrants "taking over" their country).

Remember when America had Obama as president? Well, nobody envisaged the nightmare that would follow shortly after...

Bottom line is, don't get too comfortable.

White people in Canada don't own the land and they're equally immigrants. They're just a few generations in. Also white people here are soft. They'd never run up to a Nigerian and physically try to fight for example. We'd back hand them easily. At most they'll gossip behind your back like school children.

I don't know why people are over emphasizing racism all the time, the UK and US spent decades accepting legal and illegal immigrants, at some point they must close their boarders, so the covert racism is justified.

The Black entitlement mentality is just out of this world, the funny thing is when Nigggas shoot Nigggas we keep quiet but when whites shoot Nigggas the whole world shouts racism...

The wealth you see today was built off the backs of our black ancestors. Countries like the UK, America, etc became wealthy off stealing human capital from Africa, and Africa's resources till this day. The typical white American is an immigrant themselves, who's not liked by the native American. He has no legal rights to be there, talk less saying who should come in or not. Lastly whites have been killing each other for hundreds of years. World wars, Canada vs USA, UK vs France, etc. Nobody says much. But when an Arab Muslim kills a white the whole world shouts terrorism. What's your point ?

Everyone is talking about Canada, many Nigerians are fleeing Nigeria to Canada every day. My mind tells me the country might "cast" for Nigerians soon because anything Nigerians do en masse doesn't always end well, just name it - business, profession, school e.t.c.

Please note that i'm not trying to discourage anyone from fleeing to Canada or anywhere outside this hell hole of a country, I am also planning to japa soon. grin

Guys, what do you think? Will Canada cast for Nigerians soon? Will it become harder to immigrate to due to some shitty things some of our countrymen MIGHT indulge in?

You'll always have your exceptions, but Nigerians usually respect the laws in Canada. They can't try nonsense in Canada.

The federal government have intelligence on the cultists. They were broken up, and those who weren't citizens were deported, and those who are were given long sentences. She is not discouraging anymore. You can tell somebody who does not live in a snowy country. You cannot say it's everyone who will wait for doorsteps to be cleared by others before going out. You mean it's every community you will see local guys ready to clear your snow? shocked

Whenever you tell people about own experience they call it discouragement. All they want to hear is that the president, monarch or prime minister is your neighbour and Na you dey run things. They want empty bragging. Then will be pestering "baba, assist me Na".

Have a simple argument with them here and they tell you that you are second class citizen abroad and you wash dead bodies.

Our people just have too much belle abeg.

I have experience living in Canada. The white man is very organized and has structures in place to make their life very comfortable. This video was done in bad taste. She knows what she's trying to do. Some countries shouldn't be compared to others period.

Canada is big enough, there is enough space for everyone duly qualified to go. No need for some to return to accommodate you.

No need for bad belle for everything.

Her information is useful to some people. You truly have to appreciate people sharing information. I would have appreciated such info before leaving to live in a temperate environment those many years ago.

Even within a country, weather can affect where you choose to settle. Chicago or Miami, Paris or Nice, London or Edinburgh, etc,

Shes lying to you people. The city or apartment complexes hire contractors to clear the snow. If you own your own house, you can also hire private contractors to clear the snow on your driveway for the whole winter season. Worst case, you can hire some local kids, pay them 20 dollars or so and they'll do it.

Lastly, most cars come with automatic car starters. Or you can buy one and get it installed. You can start your car anywhere. Sit inside your warm house while you car gets warm. You can turn up the heat in your car, etc. Snow and cold is not an issue. You can solve those problems easily.

This woman has an agenda and is trying to discourage people for whatever reason to come to Canada. SARS and Buhari are killing people. Unemployment and poverty is on the rise in Nigeria. And what's disturbing her is snow ? She's too foolish to realize this will make people want to come to Canada even more.

You can easily find someone that would do it for a few hundred dollars USD. You don't have much of these people who overstay. A typical white American or Canadian is there for business. No sane person from those 2 countries would overstay, and drastically reduce their quality of life.

You definitely can't compare Canada with Nigeria. But what I dislike about C

Western countries were designed in a way that the 99% masses will for work for the 1% elites.

The rat race! work in the morning, afternoon and night. They're workforce Nations.

Those of us who ain't good with keeping job routines who prefers owning our businesses rather than work for others. Sees Nigeria as the best place to easily own a business.

Working tirelessly paycheck to paycheck in which system is designed take away from you is no no for me. Majority of Americans and Canadians don't even have up to us$10,000 in their bank accounts.

Canada is good, but that will be a holiday destination.

Nigeria is designed where 99.9% of the masses work for 0.01 of the population. The poverty race. Where you no get job. Its a jobless nation. Thats why everyone talks "business, business". Theres no job. People beg tirelessly where the common man can't buy bread. That's a no no for me. The majority of Nigerians don't have 30k naira cash to their names. Thats why all they do is beg their relatives abroad constantly.

Naija is a S-hole country.

Guy, stop lying to buttress your point.

Nobody collects 1300CAD in Canada a month doing a full time job even if it is cleaning toilet. Minimum wage is $14 per hour. If you are working full time (40 hours a week) cleaning toilets, you will earn 2240 CAD a month before taxes. Most people in those low category of work do overtime or 2 jobs. It won't be surprising seeing that person take up a weekend job where they will work for extra 10 hours over the weekend and make extra money.
Now, people in those category have a very low tax bracket. Canada does not have a flat tax for everyone, it depends on your earnings. In Canada, people keep receipts and record of some things they pay out of pocket like rents, church offerings etc. and at the end of the tax year, you can include those expenses when filing your taxes and you will get some money back from the government as refund. In my first year in Canada, the money i and my wife got back in our tax return from government was enough to buy our second car.

You need to understand a system thoroughly before you make good judgement. Don't rely on hear say or what you read on Nairaland. Some of the information peddled on this forum may not be lies but are half-truths. The thing is that Half-truth is worse than lies.

The person you are talking about may just be working part time or a student who is only expected to work 20 hours a week maximum or there is something else they are not telling you. In reality no permanent resident full time worker will earn just 1300CAD every month. Not mathematically possible.

One thing most of you don't understand is that you don't rate a country based on the rich. The rich in any country Canada and the US included is a small percentage of the entire population and will always be so. You rate a country based on what is available to the lower class, the poor. What services are available to them? What social benefits are available to them? How are the poor treated? etc.

For instance, the poor in Nigeria will not even have the opportunity to do 2 jobs even if they want to. Why? Because the system does not support it. By not having an hourly wage in Nigeria, you have systematically prevented the poor from working in 2 places that would have helped them earn more.

I was going to write this, with proof. But I no get his time. Its literally ILLEGAL to make 1300 per month working full-time. You also forgot, that if you have kids, and make a small amount of money, the government gives you money every month to help with the upkeep of your kids. Then tax season you'll get more money back for having kids.

I still can't believe people are comparing Canada with Nigeria

No government can make nigeria better because corruption wont stop. i have a friend in canada that attends a university there. If you see there classrooms ennn, its better than dangotes office. Go to nigerian public university, you will see about 400 in a class. Its only easy to make money in nigeria, and thats because of the population nothing more. Buts lets say you go broke nko? i have uncles that where rich in the 80s and 90s but today there is nothing. One still has some few properties to keep his soul but he has heart problems, the other one has nothing to show. As for me its good to have both passports. Build yourself abroad then come and make money in nigeria doing business. niger its not safe even doctors are leaving nigeria. Some of these doctors are in countries like jamaica and some other carribean countries. even doctors for liberia are getting good wages and living in beautiful doctors estates. i leave abroad and i invest back home. i also employ people. I am just doing it because i love the country but let me tell you the real fact, people are stealing your tax and oil money and they are buyings shopping malls and expensive flat in 1 london, lstanbul, scotland which is there new heaven, paris, america, milton kyenes in the uk e.t.c. this is what i know no be joke. They will later spoil the country, make you kill each other and run away. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. they even invest in their childrens name and even grandchildren.

I knew a girl who went to school in Canada. After graduation they give you a 3 year open work permit. Within that 3 years with work experience, and if you meet the requirements you can file for residency then citizenship. This girl had many "opportunities" in naija and was told to go back. I told her not to try that, because that country is unstable and messed up. And the people telling you to return are enemy of progress. She bought a 1 way ticket back to naija. She don turn Ashewo since then and is trying to comeback to Canada through the EE.

I mean if you’re doing well in Nigeria, there’s no need to relocate to Canada if not you’re most likely to regret it

Because no matter how much money you have, nonsense like this can always happen. How does 400, not four, but 400 students go missing? What a joke of a country. Everything is not about money.

After taxes you're guaranteed free education up to the University level. You can even have 100 kids. Their school fees would be paid. Good healthcare for no cost. Good roads. Etc. If you pay all that out of your pockets you'd have less money available to take home.

Nigerians always complain about not having the basic needs. Then when its time to pay taxes so these services can be provided, they start to shout. This is what happens when you've only lived in a 3rd world country your whole life.

Paying taxes actually makes life cheaper. It'd be unaffordable to pay everything out of your pockets. Hence why the typical Nigerian lacks a lot. By the time you pay for school fees, hospital fee, security, etc out of pocket, what do you have left ?

Suffering in Nigeria and that of Canada are two different things. Their standard of living at poverty level in Canada is a lot more higher than in Nigeria, overall you are still better of in countries like Canada and Germany. In those countries, there is a welfare system (food, healthcare and basic shelter) to cover you if things aren't working out for you at the moment.

How many low income earners and poor thinkers do you think can scale the tedious Express Entry process? And as for that your friend, after 3 years of legitimately working in Canada, he can apply for citizenship and get it before his 4th year in Canada. With a Canadian passport he can move to any 1st world country that he likes, while you still remain in Nigeria trying your best to discourage others from making an attempt to better their lives.

He's a typical selfish and arrogant Nigerian, who's definition of success is having a little job and house. And on the weekends, he goes out and chops suya while drinking beer. He doesn't know his co-worker is the one laughing at him deep down. In fact more like pity.
