This is one area where most Nigerians need a mental adjustment. THERE IS DIGNITY IN HONEST LABOUR!!! Even if he went there to wash toilets, it is dignifying to be able to work with your own hands and pay your bills. There's no big deal about being a mechanic.

His ignorance is why Nigeria is a shithole. I know a "regular" mechanic who makes 80- 100k thousand dollars per year. And I remember meeting a heavey duty mechanic who worked for an oil company and he was making close to 200k thousand dollars per year. I think his hourly wage was close to 100 dollars per hour. Mechanics in the West get paid !

but they also have predominately middle class and upper middle-class blacks neighborhoods while in the uk it is non existence among black there

black Americans spending power is about 1.2 trillion US, that is more than the spending power of uk blacks and also more than the gdp of some eastern European countries

The U.S. has the world's biggest economy. So naturally black Americans would have a bigger GDP than other blacks around the world. The data is skewed because a guy like LeBron James or P.DIddy who makes millions per year, would automatically increase the average income of a black American due to their insane yearly salary. But it still doesn't tell the true picture of the average yearly black American salary.

I've never understood why guys feel they can't hold their pee and think it's okay to go around urinating in public. It's very bad manners in my opinion and canada or not, legal or not please start exercising the necessary discipline.

Do we think ladies have bigger bladders or what? Yet how many times can one see a lady squatted by the road side? In fact a good number of ladies suffer incontinence following pregnancy and childbirth yet don't go about behaving like bladder control is a myth.

I think you're jealous guys can pee standing up.

Based on the realities that money no too plenty for this side, one of the options is to work 2 jobs, afterall Nigerians brag they can hustle. So na so I dey look this second job thing that has been offered to me:

Leave home by 8am for Job 1 that starts by 9.30am and ends by 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Then one hour bus home and arrive home by 7pm max.

Leave home 8pm for Job 2 that starts by 10pm and ends by 6am Sunday Night to Thursday morning. One hour bus home and arrive home by 7am.

Sleep time - 1hour at break time at night and anything that can be snatched during the day.

Is this feasible?

No. 2 jobs is tough. I personally can't do it.

Actually, you are allowed to hit a child, between the age of 2 and 12, in Canada as per section 43 of the criminal code. But, there are restrictions to the beating.

What is Section 43 of the Criminal Code?

Section 43, codified in 1892, is the law that allows parents, teachers and those standing in place of parents to use force to "correct" children as long as the force does not exceed what is "reasonable" under the circumstances

Among other things the Court restricted its use to children between the ages of 2 and 12, and stated it must be "transitory and trifling" must not involve objects such as rulers and belts, and may not be applied to the head

But the fact is ....

Most Canadians have never heard of section 43 of the Criminal Code

That's more like spanking. You need force that'll make the child think twice for next time.

But less pay and more expensive things in the stores. Less business opportunities too. In America we have a saying, come to America to make money when you are young, go to Canada when you are old, Canada is good for to raise children and for to live being old, it's kinda socialist country, they don't let people to earn too much. America has more opportunities. It's the difference everybody knows. Also the climate in Canada is not very good, all food, clothes, furniture, cars are more expensive when the salaries are less than in USA.

Yet Canada now is more easy on immigrants and USA close doors. At the same time, black people in US have more possibilities to work and live well, we have many any color people, many Africans too and there are preferences to give jobs to them, also it's more easy to adapt in US for Africans, you easy can make friends, people used to see black skin everywhere, you can go to any state and see to blend in in the Afro-American neighborhood, more at home feeling.

Just curious, have you ever lived in Canada? You seem to know a lot.

If after paying
Car insurance
Mortgage (for people that own a house)
sales tax
income tax
property tax
house insurance
employment insurance etc
and you still think Nigerians are taxed twice, then you really not saying the truth.

I know some provincial governments provide subsidies for people with children but life for canada no ne beans o. Canada is sweet o but all na packaging o.
Canada has free healthcare but if you get serious ailment that require surgery or special attention, you fit die for waiting list..infact you might wait up to six months to see a specialist. infact elite canadians just go to America for urgent medical needs.

Education is free till high school, which is great but many middle class canadians cannot afford to sponsor their kids through college hence they take up student loans and depending on your course of study and job hunting strategy, u might not get a job after school.

Average Canadian is 21k in debt and most are living paycheck to paycheck infact some people in this forum might not have up to 30k in liquid cash or emergency fund.

Someone here said with 500k salary you might not be able to even buy a car after expenses, my sister/brother if you are the only one working in that family with more than two kids and a salary that is considered average..you will struggle anywhere in the world.

Talking about cars, how many canadians are driving brand new cars? out of the ones driving brand new cars, more than 70% are on dealerships/financing. most middle class canadians cannot pay for brand new cars upfront.

Naija ma shithole country for sure but canada is an entirely different challenge on its own.

I know you're trolling, but I have some time today.

Car insurance- In a civilized society it's important to have insurance to pay out people if you hurt them or damage their property with your car.

Mortgage- A nice investment. Not only do you own the house after X amount of years, the value of your house also goes up. So in X amount of years you're a home owner, unlike an average man who'll be paying rent and die without owning property or passing it down to their children. In a civilized country it's important everyone has a chance to own property whether you can do it by cash, or signing on to a mortgage.

Sales Taxes- These taxes are used to fund public services like healthcare so we don't have to pay out of pocket. Unlike in naija, people abroad don't pay for these services twice.

Income tax- Is used to again pay for crucial services and infrastructure, and gives the government money to operate.

Property tax- This tax is used to fund schools nearby and emergency services like police and fire. It'd cost more if you paid for it privately out of pocket.

House insurance- It can be optional. But one gets a pay out if their house is burned down for example. Plus it's usually dirt cheap.

Employment insurance- If one loses their job, the gov't will pay them small salary for close to a year until they get back on their feet. So they don't need to beg.

I fail to see why you're mentioning these taxes ? You see once the mandatory taxes are paid, a person doesn't have to worry about anything. But unlike in naija, once a tax is paid, you still have to worry about school fees, neppa, etc. What don't you understand ? People in Canada only wait a significant time for elective services. If it's an emergency you'll get it right away. This American medical system you're bragging about is ranked 7 spots BELOW Canada's healthcare system. Why would people in Canada go to the U.S, pay out of pocket, for an inferior product ? Canadian elites rarely leave Canada for treatment. 1% of the population doesn't mean anything. It's funny you mentioned that, because a famous U.S politician who's extremely wealthy, an elites, and bashed Canada's medical system is actually travelling to Canada for surgery. The irony. I thought the system in the U.S was so great ? The Canadian medical system is not perfect, but I'd take a system ranked 30th in the world through taxes, over naija's ranked basically dead last in the world

http://thepatientfactor.com/canadian-health-care-information/world-health-organizations-ranking-of-the-worlds-health-systems/

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/15/politics/rand-paul-canada-surgery/index.html

Provinces are starting to make University free. In Ontario if you're low income, you can go to university for free. Though the current governor is trying to abolish that. Those who do take out loans, it can be paid in due time after they're done school. In life you have to pay for quality. Anyone can afford to attend those jaga jaga naija universities where your toto has more impact than your intelligence. Moreover after graduating from a naija university, which employer, especially abroad will take a naija degree serious ? lol abeg. I don't know every Canadian so I can't say who's in debt or not. As for the cars, financing is no big deal in an advanced economy where most make a good salary and get paid on time. Stop comparing a developing economy to an advanced one. Levels get levels again.

I have to go now. Kaachiifooo

we just have people like you that complain about nigeria but no simple solutions

You went from "where are people taxed twice in nigeria" to "all I see is complainers". This makes me believe you were one of the stupid ones who didn't realize they were getting taxed twice. I've given many simple solutions. Break up this British made nation and each ethnic group should go their own way. Or burn alive any politician who has been caught being corrupted on national TV, including their friends/family. Any other solution isn't realistic.

pls stop writing nonsense sown, where are people tax twice in Nigeria. do you work, have ever pay real tax before i am not talking about vat

every sensible people in the world go to countries they can afford for holidays.

Exactly. You go to these countries due to condition, not really by choice. Levels get levels. Back to the tax situation, when you pay for a service twice, you're getting double taxed. When you pay taxes and its suppose to fund your education, healthcare, roads/infrastructure system, etc, yet it doesn't, and you now have to pay out of pocket for these same services you've already paid taxes for, you're being double taxed. period !

When you need healthcare, do you go to your tax funded public hospital ? No. You go to a private hospital, essentially pay twice for healthcare.

When you need to educate your kids, do you go to your tax funded schools ? No. You go to a private school, essentially pay twice for education.

Why do you pay neppa bill yet get no light ? Then you now have to buy gen and fuel it up. Aren't you paying twice for electricity ?

My brotha I can go on. People in Nigeria are constantly getting double taxed and paying twice for almost every essential services. But for some reason they're too stupid to realize it.

if you do travel, you will be posting it here.

In Nigeria even women selling in balogun market go to dubai for holidays.

you see the standard of living is cheap here no excess tax, even couples are getting clever and not borning more than 2 kids

we pay rent yearly, so with 500k, i can rent a 2-3 bedroom flat in a good area in the mainland.

my kids can go to good schools and we can even go out on weekends, if i save well we can go for holidays in cheaper countries in africa

you can call Nigeria whatever names you like the fact remains that you cant build a country, if you were so smart instead of complaining you would have build your village instead of running out of Nigeria to an already built country.

Nigeria is not a paradise but people are still making it here even some of your brothers and sisters return home to get recognition because they couldnt get it there

why you are busy abusing nigeria , people that understand nigeria are busy investing, building a country and making money.

People in Nigeria get taxed twice for almost everything, with the cost of living going up, while the quality of life decreases. You go for holidays to cheaper African countries because you can't get visa to a decent country overseas, nor can the naira even compete if you do get a visa for abroad. Its good to be positive but lets stop insulting ourselves here.

Am sorry to drop this here but I believe so far the landing senior will prove me right or wrong.

Was on a thread where someone is considering leaving naija for Canada on a 7M annual salary job and a lot of opinions ensue but I dropped mine here. Pls tell me if this PR journey is not worth it

This is the more reason I have embarked on the PR journey and so far am closer to Canada than Nigeria even though am still in naija but am existing in utopia, a more perfect Canadian world.

I can't imagine having to live and serve a country like naija and still need to beg for help on social media at my old age.

Imagine parents spending there last on there children only to want to look up to them when they graduate hoping that they will get a good job but the children have to face evil reality of joblessness in naija eventually been frustrated not been able to cater for themselves let alone the parents. eventually the parent will be more poorer than they anticipated.

A country where I won't have to worry about school fee for my children for the first 14 years of their lives is worth trying.

Talking about tax, when you pay ur tax for certain facilities and amenities and u are really enjoying it I see no need to complain. U pay Nepa bill here in naija and also run generator simultaneously, u are doing yourself thinking u dey form big boy all because u collect 7M per annum. The stress of having to pull, polluting the air with toxic fumes from the general or kick start and some will even invest heavily on solar and inverter out of the 7M o just because u wanna cave a niche for yourself....

In Canada u work and get paid as at when due/per hour if u wanna hustle and ur work hour tallies with ur pay. No salary delay, no outrageous security challenge, like robbery and kidnapping cos u struggle to buy Tokunbo Benz and people think u have arrived in naija, no rushing at bus terminal like we have in Oshodi when the conductor have to open his smelly armpit over your head to collect fair.

Even, just and exposed society and people where nobody cares whether u trek with ur God given legs or u cruise on a 2019Range Rover sport.

I will like to take my chances going to Canada and am so dead sure I won't regret it. Will come back here to share my Landing gist soon and my progress in Canada. Can't imagine my child going through the same suffering I went thro in naija where u only get job by having to know people and not considering u base on your level of competence and experience.

Been working in Naija since I left university and no employer is even interested in the fact that I have a 2-1, all they ask of is who refers u here, are u computer literate as if everybody should study computer science.... Abegi

It all depends what you value in life. Personally I don't value money so Canada fits me better. Seems we value the same thing.

learn to treat people with LOVE and RESPECT (which many folks on this wonderful thread do) irrespective of their wrong doings, abstain from being judgmental and confrontational.

I say my opinion then leave. Why do people who don't like me or my style continue responding to me ? A lot of people annoy me, but I leave and ignore them. I pick and choose who and what I respond too. Some people here are wolves in sheep clothing. This isn't a little white lie or a mistake. This man is a legit 419 guy. After using fraudulent ways to secure a visa through "an agent", he's now in hot pepper and is coming here for legit valid opinion ? Does he want honest law abiding people to help him figure out how to continue cheating the system ? Let him go confine with his "agent". People leave naija because of people like him. 419 cheats, who's always looking for ways to achieve things through illegitimate means or through the back door. A guy like this will definitely erode the system if he comes here. I doubt Canada lets this con-artist in. my 2 kobo.

On a side note. Why was my response deleted ? Which kind democracy is this on this board ?
