STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION ON THE ARREST, DETENTION AND REMAND OF TWO LEGAL PRACTITIONERS IN KUJE PRISON*.

The attention of the Nigerian Bar Association has been drawn to the arrest, detention and remand of two members of the Nigerian Bar Association; David Amaefuna Esq and Pius Ufo Inyang Esq of Rickey Tarfa and Co who are members of the legal team of Senator Dino Malaye.
The Human Rights Officer of the NBA visited the lawyers at the Kuje Prison on Friday 27th April 2018 where they are currently being remanded and interestingly we found out that Kuje prison officials refused to admit the lawyers initially on the grounds that there was no charge number on the warrant of their remand which led to them being taken back to SARS cell for two nights before being returned to the prison.
The NBA will ensure to see to the release of our dear colleagues and also make sure those behind their unwarranted detention are made to face the law.
We therefore urge our members to remain calm until the ruling of their bail application slated for Monday 30th of April 2018 is delivered.


The NBA will be represented in court on 30th April 2018 and throughout the proceedings.

A formal letter of protest will be sent to the Inspector General of Police calling for immediate independent investigation of this event in order to bring the perpetrators of this unwholesome conduct by men and officers of the Nigeria Police to justice.

We are all commenting about Dino victory no one is looking at those claiming their signature were forged, impersonations etc

If all these signatures were forged and Nigerian keep mute then I can categorically say We are not fighting Corruption at all.

INEC should do something, the people should come out and challenge the act. Signature forgery and impersonations should be handle with all seriousness.

Y'all supporting Dino as if he is a better person. Thats the problem with this country too much sentiment in politics. Dino and his fellow senators be living large buying lamborghini, audi r8, sls Amg, Nissan GTR etc while yall can barely make 3 square meal.

Please go and do recall for your own Senator not ours.

The people never initiated the recall in the first place, if it were to be from the people it will have been a success.

What the people want now is a trial of Bello recall. Let see if it will fail or not

There seem to be a boycott by constituents of Kogi West as the recall process of Senator Dino Melaye gets underway.

In Koto, the APC members have boycotted the process, while some persons alleged to be PDP members said they didn't know how their names got in the list at first.

In Isanlu and polling units within the environs, electorates where found sitting under trees.

In the outskirts of Isanlu, information available by our reporters says there was a complete boycott of the process as people sat in their houses.

Dino Melaye's Recall: Apathy Trails Exercise.

The ongoing recall exercise of Senator Dino Melaye has commenced with electorates showing reluctance to appear for verification.

As at 9:13am, our reporter had visited some polling units in Lokoja, Mopa, and Yagba East LGAs.

At Amorley frontage, no electorate had appeared to be verified as at time of report.

Also at St Mary's, Crowther and Nepa Frontage it was reluctance by the electorate.

At Paparanda Square, the unit witnessed appearance of electorate, unfortunately none of those who appeared had their signature corresponding.

In Mopa and polling units in Egbe, Yagba West, there was a complete boycott as at time of report with INEC and Security officials, sitting and waiting for electorates to appear for verification.

The federal government is shouldering a lot of the state government responsibilities, while the state has killed the local government.

The Government needs to hands off a lot of responsibilities, why they do most things is because they are avenues for siphoning money.

Chairman your statements are not straight forward, both state government and Federal government are Government. They are all not doing things right. They should put the blame on themselves not Nigerian youth

What caused all this laziness is them that refused to put things in place, rather they embezzled the nation resources and now have the authority to come and pure sand sand for our garri abroad.
