Education / FG, ASUU Resume Renegotiation Of 2009 Agreement by mathinips(m): 1:58pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities have begun fresh re-negotiations of the 2009 agreement. Dr Wale Babalakin, the Chairman, Federal Government re-negotiation team, who addressed newsmen in Abuja, on Wednesday, after a meeting that lasted six hours, said he was hopeful the meeting would yield positive results. Babalakin disclosed that the ASUU team had presented more than 20 issues that were being looked into to ensure stability in the university system. He said that both sides were determined to put an end to the lingering problems in the system. “We resumed our renegotiation today. The government team and ASUU were appropriately represented and we had positive discussions. “We are actually hopeful that we are on a positive path to finalising the negotiation. “There were very hectic discussions on topical issues and both sides had extensive contributions for the benefit of the university system. “It is the same negotiation, we had interim discussion, that is over now and we are back to where we left off. So it is a continuous negotiation. “ASUU submitted its timetable today and there are more than 20 issues in that timetable, it is not a single issue, but they will all be discussed,’’ Babalakin said. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the representative of ASUU, however, declined comments at the end of the meeting. (NAN) Credit> PUNCH

Politics / Kogi Workers Vowed To Unleash Their Wrath On Gov. Yahaya Bello by mathinips(m): 1:21pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
State Chairman of NLC Comrade Onuh Edoka made the call in a telephone conversation with Daily Independent Monday in Lokoja. He said that relevant government officials have been dogging the union just as no official statement has been issued as regards to the payment of salaries. He lamented that the workers in Kogi state have been pauperised and reduced to beggars as they could no longer have access to loans from banks and individuals. Edoka urged the president to without delay direct the governor Yahaya Bello to commence the payment of salary arrears running into seven months bemoaned the lackluster attitude of state government to the payment of workers salaries. The Labour leader explained that the relevant government officials responsible for payment of salaries have remained inaccessible. He therefore advised workers to remain calm and await the next line of action, adding that the Congress will soon make its stand known on the matter. Some workers who spoke on anonymous alleged that the state government has vowed not to pay salaries due to negative roles they played during the just concluded general elections. According to them, some of the workers refused to participate in the rigging exercise during the Presidential and National Assembly elections which led to the victory of Senator Dino Melaye in Kogi West senatorial district. The aggrieved workers urged their leaders to ask government to pay salaries or face the wrath of the hungry and angry civil servants. Credit: Daily Independent

Politics / Kogi People Ready To Bid Yahaya Led Government Bye Bye by mathinips(m): 12:50pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
After Governor Yahaya Bello has squandered the whopping amount of 20billion bailout funds, 450million Ecological funds, 20billion Paris club refund all together. Plugging kogi into debt to the tune of 16billion Naira between 3years in office, he still want to milk more of kogi's treasury. Monthly statutory allocation allotting to kogi state every month is 6billion naira, aside the internal generated revenue which the amount is unknown, some workers have not received N5 for the past 3years aside those who are unjustly retrenched and labeled ghost workers. Governor Bello after the massive retrenchment of workers jokingly pronounced that the kogi civil servant's wage is 2.6 billion as against that of the previous governments upon paying both the ghost and life workers. As a matter of concern, Gov Bello and his government has unjustly retrenched some of the teachers who instilled sense in us. What we have left in Kogi state is annoying. The leadership exhibition of Gov Bello has sent many people to their early grave. If people will not be coerced to vote against his/her conscience as a means of using unconstitutional forces like intimidating, shooting and killing, I think the people are now ready to bid this government good bye. This is the same government that has legalized the uses of thugs to disrupt election processes, scare voters away and killing our beloved ones. At times, when I sit myself down and ponder on the reasons why I have to keep quiet, millions reason why I should not always spring up. Obviously many people have been caged, cajoled, while some have been gagged and totally intimidated. For putting this up, I know calls will be received, reports would be made and warnings would be dished out but almighty God who is the supreme being will continue to rule in the affairs of men. Gov Bello does not deserve another 4year term. We cannot afford to be ruled again by devil reincarnate. Kogites let's strategize on how to fight our common enemy. All interest must be put together now. This battle is a collective responsibility. God bless and keep protecting us. Samuel Oj |

Politics / Kogi teachers: We're Dying Of Hunger, Starvation by mathinips(m): 4:40pm On Jul 10, 2018 |
Kogi chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers has said primary school teachers in the state are dying, in their hundreds, of hunger and starvation over non-payment of their salaries. Addressing newsmen in his office, yesterday, the state Chairman, Comrade Ayodele Thomas, said teachers are being owed up to 15 to 25 months salaries, a situation he said has created some critical health challenges for some of members. The NUT chairman also said Governor Yahaya Bello’s directive, that teachers’ salaries must be treated on First Line Charge, with not less than 45 percent payment, was surprising as local government administrators have flagrantly refused to adhere to the directive. Instead, he said they are paying teachers between 20- 30 percent of their monthly salaries. Following this directive, he said the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs swiftly set up a committee to implement the governor’s directive but regretted that the local government chairmen, along with local government treasurers and some top government officials, are frustrating the effort. He showed an October 5, 2017 letter from Kogi state Head of Service, entitled: “Computerizing and centralising of the payroll of the state, local governments workforce and pensioners” where local government administrators and other stakeholders were specifically directed to pay teachers salaries as first line charge from the Joint Account Allocation Committee. Thomas reiterated that the local government bosses still refused to comply with the directive. He said efforts to meet with the governor, to let him know about the latest development, has not been successful even as he alleged that the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike, of not responding to three different memos sent by the NUT to her on the issue. While pleading with the state governor to look into their plights of teachers by directing the local government administrators to comply with his directive, he said government officials should stop playing politics with teachers’ salaries. The NUT boss said some children and wards of teachers in the state can no longer go to school due to lack of payment of salaries. He also claimed that while other categories of workers in the state collect their minimum wage, primary school teachers have been denied theirs. https://penkup..com/2018/07/were-dying-of-hunger-starvation-kogi.html |

I wanted to ask this same question after watching the suspects confession. Where is Michael? Why is his own confession not been aired? Why didn't they ask him where he got his guns? Why are Police more interested in the guns given to the suspects by the Governor Chief of Staff for political thuggery, rather than the one given to them by Michael for the robbery? Why are they not talking about questioning Michael, about the whereabout of the money stolen that day? so many questions left unanswered. Are Nigerian being taken as fools? 2 Likes |

opera1: Not only Babangida, but all those that have mouth and leg in it. *EX PRESIDENT, IBRAHIM BABANGIDA OPENED UP ON JUNE 12 ANNULMENT* Copied: They will kill me; they will kill the President Elect, Chief MKO Abiola if I went ahead with the election and announced the winner of the elections which we all know to be Bashorun, Chief MKO Abiola. I know so; I am not daft. He won; he tried. I feel bad about the whole matter. Professor, I do not see how they will spare you because they know you are my principal confidant. You think they do not know you? They know; they know you are with me now. They saw you coming in and they know you are with me now I cannot kill myself for the sake of what the country wants. I am sorry, he lamented. It was astonishing to hear a General state that he could not lay down his life for his country. It was clear that General Babangida was in a fix as of June 21st 1993. I then proceeded to deal with the questions of who were these “they” and for what reasons would they want to kill the President and the President Elect if the June 12 election were allowed to go forward. He named them in military and in ethnic categories: Sani (meaning General Sani Abacha) is opposed to a return to civilian rule. Sani cannot stand the idea of Chief Abiola, a Yoruba becoming his Commander- in- Chief; Sani seems to have the ears of the Norhern leaders that no Southerner especially from the South West should become the President of the country. Sani seems to rally the Northern elders to confront me on the matter. He is winning; the Sultan and the Northern leaders are of this frame of mind. Where do I go from here? They do not trust me. Without Sani, I will not be alive today; without the North, I would not have become an officer in the Nigerian Army and now the President of Nigeria I don’t want to appear ungrateful to Sani; he may not be bright upstairs but he knows how to overthrow governments and overpower coup plotters. He saw to my coming to office in 1985 and to my protection in the many coups I faced in the past, especially the Orkar coup of 1990 where he saved me and my family including my infant daughter.” Sani risked his life to get me into office in 1983 and 1985; if he says he does not want Chief Abiola, I will not force Chief Abiola on him. He also named Lt General Dongoyaro and Brigadier General David Mark as those who were against Chief Abiola. In fact, he quoted David Mark as saying: I’d shoot Chief Abiola the day NEC( National Electoral Commission) pronounces him the elected President! SOURCE:THE TALE OF JUNE 12: THE BETRAYAL OF THE DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS OF NIGERIANS BY PROFESSOR OMO OMORUYI. Hmmmm!!! Politics / Exposed! Kogi Government Set To Obtain Another N11bn Loan by mathinips(m): 11:12pm On Jun 08, 2018 |
https://theleakagesblogadress..com/2018/06/exposed-kogi-government-set-to-obtain.html?m=1 THE LEAKAGES has reliably gathered that the Kogi State government has perfected plans to obtain another loan to the tune of 11bn. The Commissioner of Finance, Idris Ashiru was said to be at the Federal Ministry of Finance Abuja four days ago to perfect all the arrangement for the release of the loan but was denied due to quick intervention from stakeholders who insisted the loan will be misappropriated if released. The Kogi State Speaker, Prince Kolawole Mathew who is known as a rubber stamp speaker to the Governor is said to have also given his approval to obtain the loan on behalf of the state assembly without the knowledge of other members. The Speaker is notoriously known for taking bribes to do the bidding of the executive at the expense of the assembly and other members of the house. Recalled that from October last year to January this year the Governor has obtained a total of N14bn loan, N4bn for the establishment of a non functional rice mill and N10bn for the payment of outstanding salaries despite all the bailout funds and PARIS refunds in billions of naira accessed by the government. Kogi state workers are still being owed over two years salaries, reason for taking the loan is still unknown at the moment. 1 Like |
