As much as we are all trying to learn data analytics, I think it is important you all are also learning data engineering or at least a part of it. Tools like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Airflow and Apache Spark should be at your arsenal.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: OilandGasJobs Recruitment 2020 by Matinoh: 6:18pm On Sep 08, 2020
So I registered with oilandgasjobs, and got an email to update my state of origin few weeks ago.

Today I got this email, and I noticed I was addressed with the name I used in applying for oilgasjobs. I knew because I used a dot (.) as my middle name during the registration. This is because the portal won't let me continue without a middle name. I don't have a middle name and I haven't registered with any before. So I'm 100% certain they got my email from oilandgasjobs.

Hope they are not selling our details.

Guys! Who knows where I can make an affidavit for SOA authentication in Lagos? And the cost of doing such.
Please how did you go about this. I tried to reach you via email but you didn't respond.

Your test scores weren't as dope as your GPA, but I hope you get good funding from Lafayette. You'll like it there. Just follow up with the GC, and be patient. I wish you had applied to Louisiana State instead of Missouri S&T. Don't lose hope, just follow up with gentle reminders.
Assistantships are awarded in April. I'll wait. why recommend LSU? Thanks for your contribution

That's true. about 41k. What was your funding like

Your GRE score is somehow too low for an engineering course, especially for a PhD engineering course. You can try to apply to some safe schools for Ms. Also, make sure you work on other aspects of your application too to make up for the low GRE
Thanks for your input.. I thought some of these schools were safe enough. The GC at UND evaluated my profile before I applied and advised me to.

Greetings.
Undergrad CGPA = 3.43 (Wes unofficial)
Undergrad course = petroleum engineering
intending course = petroleum engineering (Ms/PhD)
Gre = 295 ( Q 151 , V 144)
TOEFL= 88
Publications= nil
Below are the schools I applied to.

University of North Dakota : accepted into the PhD program without funding. I went ahead to Send emails to the GC but was promised research assistantship after my first semester based on my performance. I see PhD admit without funding as a subtle rejection.
University of Louisiana, Lafayette : accepted into the Ms program. No info on funding. GC is yet to reply my email.
Missouri university of science and technology: accepted into the Ms non-thesis program without funding.
West Virginia university, Morgantown: awaiting PhD admission decision.
Funding seems elusive. My test scores are frustrating my CGPA. I'm in despair

I earlier sent a nomination request to mining and materials engineering department at McGill. The department just sent an email that I need to have a conditional admission first before requesting for nomination. I thought it was nomination before admission.

NYSC / Re: Which Engineering Course Is The Best To Study In Nigeria by Matinoh: 3:01pm On Oct 23, 2018
austyne22ex:

Let me try to explain what he means by the above statement...Nigeria is a developing nation with lots of infrastructural projects (structural and highway) presently going on, as a civil engineer who knows his onions, you will never be out of job ( I am a civil engineer and I got a job with a multinational company 17 days after my POP) I believe that explains why civil engineering comes first... with regards to the electrical guys, every company or establishment needs an electrical engineer, be it a bank, school or what have U and same applies to the computer engineer, so it is easy to secure jobs with these degrees and u can also go into private practice if u want to...courses like petroleum engineering is to streamlined in the sense that if u are not able to secure a job with an oil company, u are on ur own except u choose to go teach chemistry in one of those private schools in ur vicinity, chemical engineering is broad but Nigeria as a country isn't really into the process engineering thingy yet (P.S chemical and mechanical engineering are both on the same page, BROAD but not fully embraced in Nigeria)...this is my 10 cents though

You should also note that any discipline can work in an oil company, so u don't necessarily have to study petroleum or chemical engineering to work in an oil company cus I have come to realise that's one of the mistakes most young folks make.
Thanks sir. I'm a petroleum engineer albeit still serving. I have already started plans for changing career path via masters route even before reading this. Cheers

Civil engineering, followed by electrical.
Please don't waste your money on chemical or petroleum engineering, pls don't, I repeat, do not waste your money on petroleum and chemical engineering
Sir can you give your reasons for the above statement

not so,the problem is mostly from school,if your school submit it on time it take jamb just 48hours to send you a new reg no
he asked me a question and I answered as it relates to my case.
U don't expect any school to be submitting very few forms everyday to jamb office. They need to accumulate it, hence the delay.
Schools are currently making the process fast because of the anticipated NySC mobilization.

Hey guys. I just started studying for the GRE and I now know why most people score higher in quant than verbal.. The vocab is something else. I want to know if the goal is to cram the words or master the art of guessing correctly. thanks

You did Reguralization right? What you need to do now is to retrieve the reg no. It will bear your name, date of birth, state of origin and your pics. This is the data your school will send to Nysc for mobilization.
Thanks Sir. now I understand

log in to your Jamb Dashboard, click on Retrieve Reg No. You will be directed to make make payment.

Thanks sir .. but I'm a little bit confused. "Retrieve Reg No" seem like getting back a lost reg number. I already have a new reg number and i have confirmed the admission by checking the admission status with the new reg number. I thought I just have to pay 1k for printing of the admission letter. Thanks
