Seated in his office situated at Odunfa in the heart of Ebute-Meta, the dark skinned ever young looking actor Taiwo Hassan a.k.a Ogogo was quite receptive irrespective of his disregard towards reporters who according to him “tell a lot of lies to make their headlines that would sell their papers”. The easy going producer/script writer opened up to Kate Robin concerning the recent talk about his having contracted AIDS. Who is Ogogo? I am an actor but my real name is Hassan Babajide Taiwo. How did you come about the name Ogogo? Actually it is my family praise chant ,so it stuck to me during my early days as a stage actor . How did you come into acting? My career started in 1982 under Awo Ademola family and after a while myself and other friends that is Latunde, Suraju Olajuwon formed our own group the Oodua theatre association till 1990, our first job Orogun atitebi was done in 1989, then we did some exhibition before going our seperate ways to do things on our own. What is your educational background? I attended Gazikia college Lagos then went aheadto Yaba Technical school where I studied Automobile engieering, on graduating, I worked with Lagos state water corporation for 15years before retiring in1994. During your job with the Lagos state water corporation, were you still acting? Yes , I was shuttling and on my retirement, I faced acting completly. How many films do you haave to your credit? (laughs) between you and I you know we can’t count such , but I will mention a few of those I did earlier when I started, they are The wicked boy, Prisoner, merciful God, etc. How come you have them titled in English? Well at that time we never had anything like the cencors board aand there was always a clash in movie titles, you produced a film only for you to find out that there already is a movie with the same title but after the censors board came into existence, it became their job to screen out movies with the same title that is why these days even if you title a movie in English, their is always a supporting yoruba title and I have movies like Opomulero, Ekun-Ayo, IIya-Ibeji, Omolomo, Idaajo Olorun, Obinrin Sowanu , have you seen that movie? you should cause it concerns women. Are you married? Of course, and I have 3 lovely girls. Is any one of them interested in acting? The first who is about 20years of ageis not really interested, but can pick out flaws wwhen asked to, the remainig two Shakirat and Halima. I have used in Obinrin Sowanu. What do you think the future is like for the industry? Great! it is going to be greater because as you can se e, the industry today is different from what it used to be. How much do you charge per movie? What we do here is assist one another to grow so if you are thinking we cut each others throat with charges then the answer is know. There are rumours that you have Aids, how true is it? Anyone can be ill, I had constant malaria and typhoid then last year Ramadan I had ulcer and the doctors prescribed some drugs for me which did not go down well with my system, 13th of February this year I travelled to London with my crew, coupled with the cold, my illness got worse and I was advised to go home (Nigeria) and treat myself, on getting home, I went to the hospital and was admitted in the hospital for 5days, I couldn’t eat properly and what do you expect from a person who does not eat? started loosing weight then my doctor conducted series of test on me including HIV test which I tested negative. though I was also given the address of a specialist at the Gbagada general hospital did more test there. How do you relax? I don’t party, I can never be found in a beer parlour cause I don’t drink all I do is read my Holy Quran and this is where I get my inspirations. |

"AU leaders had an agreement that facilitated peace in Liberia. It's shameful how Obasanjo threw Charles Taylor under the bus after pressure from the Europeans and America (not a signatory to the so-called UN court). For four years Iraq went through a wave of brutal ethnic cleansing, I don't see the UN Court going after the Iraqi Cleric, Muqtada al-Sadr and Co. as well as those brutal Afghan tribal war lords; all of whom the US State Department and other foreign powers struck deals (with). I believe African leaders need to grow more "spine", there will be more ridiculous demands by western countries and the UN to change some part of our constitution in a few years."-- Yele Odofin-Belo. In many respects Mr. Yele Odofin-Belo is absolutely right. This was the betrayal of the century and, in my view, those that should have known better panicked at the last minute and broke ranks. But I do not believe that Obasanjo was amongst those that betrayed anybody. To be fair to President Olusegun Obasanjo he was, in fact, the last man standing and he resisted the pressure until it all came to a head during a state visit to America when George W. Bush refused to see him until Taylor was produced. Ironically the real traitor was not Obasanjo but rather President Ellen Sirlief-Johnson of Liberia, ![]()

ABEOKUTA – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Monday, refuted the rumour that he had been shot dead by assassins. “I dey kampe,” meaning ‘I am alive and well’, said Obasanjo jocularly in pidgin English in a telephone interview. “This morning I went to do community work at Pakoto near Ifo. “I have since returned to Abeokuta and have attended a meeting on the (Presidential) library”, Obasanjo said. He thanked all those who had expressed concern over his safety, adding that in the belief of his Yoruba people, it meant that he still has many more years to live. Confusion today gripped the nation particularly residents of Ogun State following the rumor that the former President was assassinated by unknown gunmen in his private residence, Obasanjo Hill Top, in Abeokuta, broke today and had spread across the land. The confusion reached its climax when all efforts of the Journalists in the State at getting across the Ota farmer through his phone proved abortive at the initial stage. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo with his daughter, Esther during her engagement ceremony held Saturday, in Abeokuta. But the former president who spoke to Journalists in a telephone interview debunked the rumor as he explained that he was calling from his office in Agbeloba, Abeokuta North Local Government area of Ogun State. In was learnt that relatives in the neighboring states , especially Lagos and Oyo States were already calling their Relations in the Capital city to find out if the former President had been murdered. Obasanjo, on Saturday, gave out the hand of one of his daughters, Miss Bunmi, in marriage in Abeokuta, the occasion which was attended by dignitaries across and beyond the shore of Nigeria. The Ota farmer, who described the rumor as mere fallacy confirmed the rumor about his death, saying “I also heard that I am dead, I am alive.” According to him, “Thank you for taking the trouble to find out, I think you can recognize my voice, I am in my office at Agbeloba, thank you for taking time to find out. I also heard that I am dead, I am alive.”

Fear of another mass retrenchment continues to hunt workers employed by subsidiaries of some of the nation’s deposit money banks, as indications appeared recently that the regulatory authorities may make real their threat to shut down companies in the group considered as a distraction to the attainment of sound banking culture. Reliable banking sector sources told Daily Sun last week that most of the subsidiaries established in the wake of the adoption of universal banking concept in Nigeria may be allowed to die naturally considering that the Central Bank of Nigeria recently dumped the universal banking model. If the authorities decide to proceed with the idea as planned, then the affected banks may be compelled to either close down some of the existing subsidiaries or merge them as departments of the parent companies. It would be recalled that under the universal banking model, banks were encouraged to diversify into such segments as insurance, mortgage, stockbroking, custodial services, trusteeship and allied services among others and in the process created jobs for thousands of Nigerians. However with CBN’s recent decision to dump universal banking for a model that allows for specialization among banks, the apex bank believes it is time to do away with such organizations which many believe was no long in tune with the demands of the times. Besides, part of the reasons the regulators are favourably disposed to closing these companies was because some of them are believed to have been used as drain pipes through which management of the parent companies siphon resources of the holding companies. As a matter of fact, it is largely believed that some of these organizations have over the years existed as cost centres that contribute little or nothing to the group’s bottom line hence they are seen as a cog in the wheel of the current banking reform. The regulators believe that incorporation of some of them were done not based on need but as a drainpipe that takes away funds from the parent companies. A source which prefers anonymity wondered what business some of the leading deposit money banks still have in microfinance banking sector which should have been left to small and medium entrepreneurs when actually their financial intermediation services to the Nigerian business community is still suffering serious neglect. A fortnight ago the CBN governor Mallam Sanusi Lamido hinted that the apex bank was working with other regulators to set up a single non bank registrars department to forestall the abuse to which banks have subjected their registrars department. First Bank of Nigeria, Union Bank of Nigeria, Afribank Plc and UBA Plc, Zenith Bank Plc are among the most diversified financial institution in the country, as their subsidiaries currently employ thousands of workers whose jobs may be on the line if the companies are eventually closed down.

No Jew accepts Jesus as the Messiah. When someone makes that faith commitment, they become Christian. It is not possible for someone to be both Christian and Jewish. Jews reject Jesus as the Messiah because he didn't fulfill Jewish expectations of the Messiah. The Hebrew Bible (called the Old Testament by the non-Jewish world) is not proof for anything in the New Testament regarding a Messiah. What exactly is the Messiah? (back) The word “Messiah” is an English rendering of the Hebrew word “Mashiach”, which means “Anointed.” It usually refers to a person initiated into God’s service by being anointed with oil. (Exodus 29:7, I Kings 1:39, II Kings 9:3) Since every King and High Priest was anointed with oil, each may be referred to as “an anointed one” (a Mashiach or a Messiah). For example: “God forbid that I [David] should stretch out my hand against the Lord’s Messiah [Saul], ” (I Samuel 26:11. Cf. II Samuel 23:1, Isaiah 45:1, Psalms 20:6) Where does the Jewish concept of Messiah come from? One of the central themes of Biblical prophecy is the promise of a future age of perfection characterized by universal peace and recognition of God. (Isaiah 2:1-4; Zephaniah 3:9; Hosea 2:20-22; Amos 9:13-15; Isaiah 32:15-18, 60:15-18; Micah 4:1-4; Zechariah 8:23, 14:9; Jeremiah 31:33-34) Many of these prophetic passages speak of a descendant of King David who will rule Israel during the age of perfection. (Isaiah 11:1-9; Jeremiah 23:5-6, 30:7-10, 33:14-16; Ezekiel 34:11-31, 37:21-28; Hosea 3:4-5) Since every King is a Messiah, by convention, we refer to this future anointed king as The Messiah. The above is the only description in the Bible of a Davidic descendant who is to come in the future. We will recognize the Messiah by seeing who the King of Israel is at the time of complete universal perfection. 1) JESUS DID NOT FULFILL THE MESSIANIC PROPHECIES (back) What is the Messiah supposed to accomplish? The Bible says that he will: A. Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28). B. Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6). C. Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4) D. Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world—on that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9). The historical fact is that Jesus fulfilled none of these messianic prophecies. Christians counter that Jesus will fulfill these in the Second Coming, but Jewish sources show that the Messiah will fulfill the prophecies outright, and no concept of a second coming exists. 2) JESUS DID NOT EMBODY THE PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS OF MESSIAH (back) A. MESSIAH AS PROPHET Jesus was not a prophet. Prophecy can only exist in Israel when the land is inhabited by a majority of world Jewry. During the time of Ezra (circa 300 BCE), when the majority of Jews refused to move from Babylon to Israel, prophecy ended upon the death of the last prophets—Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. Jesus appeared on the scene approximately 350 years after prophecy had ended. B. DESCENDENT OF DAVID According to Jewish sources, the Messiah will be born of human parents and possess normal physical attributes like other people. He will not be a demi-god, (1) nor will he possess supernatural qualities. The Messiah must be descended on his father’s side from King David (see Genesis 49:10 and Isaiah 11:1). According to the Christian claim that Jesus was the product of a virgin birth, he had no father—and thus could not have possibly fulfilled the messianic requirement of being descended on his father’s side from King David! (2) ![]() SEE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH’S RESPONSE TO THIS QUESTION [b](The Catholic Church's Response to Our Critique of Christian Credibility Because Christianity offers the second-most credible claim of any world religion, we opted to provide its most traditional branch -- the Catholic Church -- with an opportunity to respond to some of our critical observations. In early December, 1995, we forwarded the following three questions to Pope John Paul II: (1) The Gospels teach that Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection. We are unclear, however, whether those appearances took place in Jerusalem or in the Galilee (or at both locales). According to our reading, the Galilean accounts seem to rule out prior Jerusalem appearances. Where did Jesus actually appear? If he appeared in Jerusalem, how should we read the Galilean accounts? (2) We find the genealogy of Jesus provided by the Gospels confusing. Who was Jesus’ paternal grandfather? (We notice that Matthew says that his grandfather was Jacob, but Luke says it was Heli). Also, we notice that Matthew declares that Jesus was separated from King David by only twenty-eight generations, but Luke’s list shows a forty-three generation separation. What does this contradiction mean? (3) The genealogical line linking Jesus and King David seems to pass through Jesus’ father. But since Jesus was the product of a virgin conception, then he does not share in his father’s Davidic ancestry. How is Jesus a descendent of David? In a letter from the Vatican dated 19 December 1995, the Pope's Assessor, Monsignor L. Sandri, responded in the Pope's name. Monsignor Sandri declined to answer our questions, but informed us that the members of the French Dominican Fathers' Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem would probably provide satisfactory explanations. Through facsimile communications, we forwarded our questions to the Ecole Biblique. In a facsimile transmission dated 11 January 1996, Marcel Sigrist, the institute's director, also declined to answer our questions, but suggested that answers could be found in the world of Raymond E. Brown, a well-known Catholic theologian currently on the staff of Saint Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park, California. Again through facsimile communications, we forwarded our questions to Dr. Brown. In a letter dated 22 January 1996, Dr. Brown referred us to writings of his held by the library of the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem. (The correspondences from Pope John Paul II, Marcel Sigrist, and Raymond Brown are reprinted at this appendix's conclusion.) On 2 February 1996 we visited the Ecole Biblique and examined Dr. Brown's writings. As Dr. Brown suggested, his writings did address our questions. Here we will summarize the answers we found there. I. Post-Resurrectional Appearances: Galilee or Jerusalem? In an essay carrying the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur (official declarations by the Catholic Church that a book is "free of doctrinal or moral error" , Brown admits that the apparent contradiction in records of the post-resurrectional appearances is real. "It is quite obvious," Brown writes, "that the Gospels do not agree as to where and to whom Jesus appeared after his resurrection."[1] "Just as the Jerusalem tradition leaves little or no room for subsequent Galilean appearances," explains Brown, "the Galilean narratives seem to rule out any prior appearances of Jesus to the Twelve in Jerusalem."[2] Citing immense textual evidence, Brown then declares his disapproval of the simples solution to the contradiction: "We must reject the thesis that the Gospels can be harmonized through a rearrangement whereby Jesus appears several times to the Twelve, first in Jerusalem, then in Galilee."[3] Rather, concludes the Church spokesman, "Variations in place and time may stem in part from the evangelists themselves who are trying to fit the account of an appearance into a consecutive narrative."[4] Brown makes clear that the post-resurrection appearance accounts are creative, substantially non-historical attempts to reconstruct events never witnessed by their respective authors.II. Genealogical Contradictions In the same essay, Brown observes that "the lists of Jesus' ancestors that they [the Gospels] give are very different, and neither one is plausible."[5] Brown takes the surprising position that "because the early Christians confessed Jesus as Messiah, for which 'Son of David' was an alternative title, they historicized their faith by creating for him Davidic genealogies and by claiming that Joseph was a Davidide."[6] In another essay, also carrying the Church's Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur, Brown expands upon this proposition: Increasingly, the purported descent from David is explained as a theologoumenon, i.e., as the historicizing of what was originally a theological statement. If I many give a simplified explanation, the process of historicizing Davidic sonship is though to have gone somewhat in the following way: the Christian community believed that Jesus had fulfilled Israel's hopes; prominent among those hopes was the expectation of a Messiah, and so the traditional title "Messiah" was given to Jesus; but in Jewish thought the Messiah was pictures as having Davidic descent; consequently Jesus was described as "son of David"; and eventually a Davidic genealogy was fashioned for him.[7] Brown explains that Matthew probably created fictional genealogical links back to Abraham and David also "to appeal to the mixed constituency of his [Matthew's] community of Jewish and Gentile Christians."[8] As evidence that Jesus was really not a descendent of David at all, Brown points out that: There is not the slightest indication in the accounts of the ministry of Jesus that his family was of ancestral nobility or royalty. If Jesus were a dauphin, there would have been none of the wonderment about his pretensions. He appears in the Gospels as a man of unimpressive background from an unimportant village.[9] Brown goes even further, calling into question the reliability of large sections of the New Testament. He encourages his readers to face the possibility that portions of Matthew and Luke "may represent non-historical dramatizations:"[10] Indeed, close analysis of the infancy narratives makes it unlikely that either account is completely historical. Matthew's account contains a number of extraordinary or miraculous public events that, were they factual, should have left some traces in Jewish records or elsewhere in the New Testament (the king and all Jerusalem upset over the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem; a star which moved from Jerusalem south to Bethlehem and came to rest over a house; the massacre of all the male children in Bethlehem). Luke's reference to a general census of the Empire under Augustus which affected Palestine before the death of Herod the Great is almost certainly wrong, as is his understanding of the Jewish customs of the presentation of the child and the purification of the mother in 2:22-24. Some of these events, which are quite implausible as history, have now been understood as rewritings of Old Testament scenes or themes.[11] Brown's most extreme statement in this regard, appearing in the same essay, suggests that the Pope himself might reject the historicity of the resurrection altogether: It was this interaction [of the eschatological and the historical] that Pope Paul pointed to in the same address when he spoke of the resurrection as "the unique and sensational event on which the whole of human history turns." This is not the same, however, as saying that the resurrection itself was a historical event, even though editorial writers quoted the Pope's speech to that effect.[12] It is crucial to remember (a) that these words appear in an essay carrying the Church's approbation; (b) that they were written by a scholar whose works were endorsed by the Ecole Biblique; and (c) that Ecole Biblique is the institution that we were referred to by Vatican authorities. III. The Virginal Conception Brown cautions that "we should not underestimate the adverse pedagogical impact on the understanding of divine sonship if the virginal conception is denied."[13] On the other hand, admits Brown, "The virginal conception under its creedal title of 'virgin birth' is not primarily a biological statement."[14] He stresses that Christian writings about virginal conception intend to reveal spiritual insights rather that physical facts. Because record of the virginal conception appears only in tow Gospels, and there only in the infancy narratives (which Brown suspects are largely fictional), the Catholic theologian tactfully concludes that "biblical evidence leaves the question of the historicity of the virginal conception unresolved."[15] Brown mentions the possibility that "early Christians" might have imported a mythology about virginal conception from "pagan or [other] world religions,"[16] but never intended that that mythology be taken literally. "Virginal conception was a well-known religious symbol for divine origins," explains Brown, citing such stories in Buddhist, Hindu, Zoroastrian, Greco-Roman and ancient Egyptian theologies.[17] He proposes that early Christians "used an imagery of virginal conception whose symbolic origins were forgotten as it was disseminated among various Christian communities and recorded by evangelists."[18] Alternatively, Brown also considers the possibility that Christianity's founders intended to create the impression that an actual virginal conception took place. Early Christians needed just such a myth, Brown notes, since Mary was widely known to have delivered Jesus too early: "Unfortunately, the historical alternative to the virginal conception has not been a conception in wedlock; it has been illegitimacy."[19] Brown writes that: Some sophisticated Christians could live with the alternative of illegitimacy; they would see this as the ultimate stage in Jesus' emptying himself and taking on the form of a servant, and would insist, quite rightly, that an irregular begetting involves no sin by Jesus himself. But illegitimacy would destroy the images of sanctity and purity with which Matthew and Luke surround Jesus' origins and would negate the theology that Jesus came from the pious Anawim of Israel. For many less sophisticated believers, illegitimacy would be an offense that would challenge the plausibility of the Christian mystery.[20] [/b]) C. TORAH OBSERVANCE The Messiah will lead the Jewish people to full Torah observance. The Torah states that all mitzvot (commandments) remain binding forever, and anyone coming to change the Torah is immediately identified as a false prophet. (Deut. 13:1-4) Throughout the New Testament, Jesus contradicts the Torah and states that its commandments are no longer applicable. (see John 1:45 and 9:16, Acts 3:22 and 7:37) For example, John 9:14 records that Jesus made a paste in violation of Shabbat, which caused the Pharisees to say (verse 16), "He does not observe Shabbat!" 3) MISTRANSLATED VERSES "REFERRING" TO JESUS (back) Biblical verses can only be understood by studying the original Hebrew text—which reveals many discrepancies in the Christian translation. A. VIRGIN BIRTH The Christian idea of a virgin birth is derived from the verse in Isaiah 7:14 describing an "alma" as giving birth. The word "alma" has always meant a young woman, but Christian theologians came centuries later and translated it as "virgin." This accords Jesus’ birth with the first century pagan idea of mortals being impregnated by gods. B. CRUCIFIXION The verse in Psalms 22:17 reads: "Like a lion, they are at my hands and feet." The Hebrew word ki-ari (like a lion) is grammatically similar to the word "gouged." Thus Christianity reads the verse as a reference to crucifixion: "They pierced my hands and feet." C. SUFFERING SERVANT Christianity claims that Isaiah chapter 53 refers to Jesus, as the "suffering servant." In actuality, Isaiah 53 directly follows the theme of chapter 52, describing the exile and redemption of the Jewish people. The prophecies are written in the singular form because the Jews ("Israel" are regarded as one unit. The Torah is filled with examples of the Jewish nation referred to with a singular pronoun.Ironically, Isaiah’s prophecies of persecution refer in part to the 11th century when Jews were tortured and killed by Crusaders who acted in the name of Jesus. From where did these mistranslations stem? St. Gregory, 4th century Bishop of Nazianzus, wrote: "A little jargon is all that is necessary to impose on the people. The less they comprehend, the more they admire." For further reading on the "suffering servant": jewsforjudaism.org/ss 4) JEWISH BELIEF IS BASED SOLELY ON NATIONAL REVELATION (back) Of the 15,000 religions in human history, only Judaism bases its belief on national revelation—i.e. God speaking to the entire nation. If God is going to start a religion, it makes sense He’ll tell everyone, not just one person. Throughout history, thousands of religions have been started by individuals, attempting to convince people that he or she is God’s true prophet. But personal revelation is an extremely weak basis for a religion because one can never know if it is indeed true. Since others did not hear God speak to this person, they have to take his word for it. Even if the individual claiming personal revelation performs miracles, there is still no verification that he is a genuine prophet. Miracles do not prove anything. All they show—assuming they are genuine—is that he has certain powers. It has nothing to do with his claim of prophecy. Judaism, unique among all of the world’s major religions, does not rely on "claims of miracles" as the basis for its religion. In fact, the Bible says that God sometimes grants the power of "miracles" to charlatans, in order to test Jewish loyalty to the Torah (Deut. 13:4). Maimonides states (Foundations of Torah, ch. :The Jews did not believe in Moses, our teacher, because of the miracles he performed. Whenever anyone’s belief is based on seeing miracles, he has lingering doubts, because it is possible the miracles were performed through magic or sorcery. All of the miracles performed by Moses in the desert were because they were necessary, and not as proof of his prophecy. What then was the basis of [Jewish] belief? The Revelation at Mount Sinai, which we saw with our own eyes and heard with our own ears, not dependent on the testimony of others… as it says, "Face to face, God spoke with you…" The Torah also states: "God did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us—who are all here alive today." (Deut. 5:3) Judaism is not miracles. It is the personal eyewitness experience of every man, woman and child, standing at Mount Sinai 3,300 years ago. See "Did God Speak at Mount Sinai" for further reading. 5) CHRISTIANITY CONTRADICTS JEWISH THEOLOGY (back) The following theological points apply primarily to the Roman Catholic Church, the largest Christian denomination. A. GOD AS THREE? The Catholic idea of Trinity breaks God into three separate beings: The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19). Contrast this to the Shema, the basis of Jewish belief: "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is ONE" (Deut. 6:4). Jews declare the Shema every day, while writing it on doorposts (Mezuzah), and binding it to the hand and head (Tefillin). This statement of God’s One-ness is the first words a Jewish child is taught to say, and the last words uttered before a Jew dies. In Jewish law, worship of a three-part god is considered idolatry—one of the three cardinal sins that a Jew should rather give up his life than transgress. This explains why during the Inquisitions and throughout history, Jews gave up their lives rather than convert. B. MAN AS GOD? Roman Catholics believe that God came down to earth in human form, as Jesus said: "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30). Maimonides devotes most of the "Guide for the Perplexed" to the fundamental idea that God is incorporeal, meaning that He assumes no physical form. God is Eternal, above time. He is Infinite, beyond space. He cannot be born, and cannot die. Saying that God assumes human form makes God small, diminishing both His unity and His divinity. As the Torah says: "God is not a mortal" (Numbers 23:19). Judaism says that the Messiah will be born of human parents, and possess normal physical attributes like other people. He will not be a demi-god, and will not possess supernatural qualities. In fact, an individual is alive in every generation with the capacity to step into the role of the Messiah. (see Maimonides - Laws of Kings 11:3) C. INTERMEDIARY FOR PRAYER? The Catholic belief is that prayer must be directed through an intermediary—i.e. confessing one’s sins to a priest. Jesus himself is an intermediary, as Jesus said: "No man cometh unto the Father but by me." In Judaism, prayer is a totally private matter, between each individual and God. As the Bible says: "God is near to all who call unto Him" (Psalms 145:18). Further, the Ten Commandments state: "You shall have no other gods BEFORE ME," meaning that it is forbidden to set up a mediator between God and man. (see Maimonides - Laws of Idolatry ch. 1) D. INVOLVEMENT IN THE PHYSICAL WORLD Catholic doctrine often treats the physical world as an evil to be avoided. Mary, the holiest woman, is portrayed as a virgin. Priests and nuns are celibate. And monasteries are in remote, secluded locations. By contrast, Judaism believes that God created the physical world not to frustrate us, but for our pleasure. Jewish spirituality comes through grappling with the mundane world in a way that uplifts and elevates. Sex in the proper context is one of the holiest acts we can perform. The Talmud says if a person has the opportunity to taste a new fruit and refuses to do so, he will have to account for that in the World to Come. Jewish rabbinical schools teach how to live amidst the bustle of commercial activity. Jews don’t retreat from life, we elevate it. 6) JEWS AND GENTILES (back) Judaism does not demand that everyone convert to the religion. The Torah of Moses is a truth for all humanity, whether Jewish or not. King Solomon asked God to heed the prayers of non-Jews who come to the Holy Temple (Kings I 8:41-43). The prophet Isaiah refers to the Temple as a "House for all nations." The Temple service during Sukkot featured 70 bull offerings, corresponding to the 70 nations of the world. The Talmud says that if the Romans would have realized how much benefit they were getting from the Temple, they’d never have destroyed it. Jews have never actively sought converts to Judaism because the Torah prescribes a righteous path for gentiles to follow, known as the "Seven Laws of Noah." Maimonides explains that any human being who faithfully observes these basic moral laws earns a proper place in heaven. For further study of the Seven Laws of Noah: The Seven Laws of Noah 7) BRINGING THE MESSIAH (back) Maimonides states that the popularity of Christianity (and Islam) is part of God’s plan to spread the ideals of Torah throughout the world. This moves society closer to a perfected state of morality and toward a greater understanding of God. All this is in preparation for the Messianic age. Indeed, the world is in desperate need of Messianic redemption. War and pollution threaten our planet; ego and confusion erode family life. To the extent we are aware of the problems of society, is the extent we will yearn for redemption. As the Talmud says, one of the first questions a Jew is asked on Judgment Day is: "Did you yearn for the arrival of the Messiah?" How can we hasten the coming of the Messiah? The best way is to love all humanity generously, to keep the mitzvot of the Torah (as best we can), and to encourage others to do so as well. Despite the gloom, the world does seem headed toward redemption. One apparent sign is that the Jewish people have returned to the Land of Israel and made it bloom again. Additionally, a major movement is afoot of young Jews returning to Torah tradition. The Messiah can come at any moment, and it all depends on our actions. God is ready when we are. For as King David says: "Redemption will come today—if you hearken to His voice." by Rabbi Shraga Simmons Largely adapted from Aish.com Jewish-Christian Disputations Moses Nachmanides and The Debate in Barcelona, Spain, 1263 The most famous of all Jewish-Christian disputations was between the apostate Jew Pablo Christiani and Moses Nachmanides (the Ramban). Nachmanides argued that the central issue separating Christianity and Judaism was not the issue of Jesus’ messiahship, but whether or not Jesus was divine. There was no basis in Judaism, Nachmanides said, for believing in the divinity of the Messiah or, indeed, of any man. To Nachmanides, it seemed most strange "that the Creator of heaven and earth resorted to the womb of a certain Jewess and grew there for nine months and was born as an infant, and afterwards grew up and was betrayed into the hands of his enemies who sentenced him to death and executed him, and that afterwards… he came to life and returned to his original place. The mind of a Jew, or any other person, cannot tolerate this." Nachmanides told the Spanish monarch, "You have listened all your life to priests who have filled your brain and the marrow of your bones with this doctrine, and it has settled with you because of that accustomed habit." Had King James heard these ideas propounded for the first time when he was already an adult, Nachmanides implied, he never would have accepted them.

In this world, Christ's followers experience persecution and trials. Jesus explained to His disciples why they should respond to mistreatment with love, kindness and good works. Understanding God's purpose for us is crucial in facing life's difficulties. |
Why would Jesus Christ say He came to bring a sword, not peace? What is the meaning of Christ's words in Matthew 10:34? The Christian way of life brings peace to those who live it, so Jesus Christ's comments in Matthew 10:34 seem puzzling at first. He said, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword." In order to understand what He meant, we need to look at the context in which He said these words. The audience He addressed expected and anticipated the establishment of the Kingdom of God in fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Christ wanted His disciples to understand that it was not yet time for Him to establish the peaceful Kingdom. Instead, He warned that Christians would face hostility for living God's way of life. It's not that Christ instigated animosity, but rather that unconverted people resented God's truth by nature. The apostle Paul expressed this in Romans 8:7: "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." When all people repent and are converted, God's way of life will bring peace to the entire earth (Isaiah 2:2-4; 9:7). But, until that time, Christians will encounter conflict and opposition over their beliefs and practices. |

ThAnk GOD!!!! I warned you several time |
When the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) was delivered in 1998, it was christened All Peoples Party (APP) at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. Some of the people who midwifed its birth were the late Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige (SAN), Senator Arthur Nzeribe, the late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, the late Afenifere leader, Pa Abraham Adesanya, the late General Joseph Garba, Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, Senator Kofoworola Burknor-Akerele and Chief Ayo Adebanjo among several others. Going by the observation of Ige, the party had all the potentials of becoming the most formidable of the century. Quoting the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Ige reminded the gathering that Awolowo had once prophesised that a time would come, when politicians of progressive mind across the nation would come together to salvage the country. He expressed confidence that the prophesy of Awolowo had come to pass with the Ikeja , Assembly. But things later fell apart when some South-West politicians felt uncomfortable with the involvement of some politicians whose roles in the annulment of June 12, 1993 election salutory. It is believed that Senator Nzeribe played a prominent role in the saga with his Association for Better Nigeria (ABN). This opposition to some people led to the birth of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). The three parties that were eventually registered were the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), AD and APP. The general election of 1999 saw the PDP clinching the presidency, while the ANPP had nine governors and AD five. Genesis of crisis Since then, a lot of water has passed under the nation’s political bridge. AD as a party, was suspected to have been polarised by the PDP. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was suspected to be the brain behind the polarisation with the sole aim of killing the party for him to have the much-required home base relevance. The two factions that emerged from the party were under the control of Chief Micael Koleoso and Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa. Since then, AD’s case could be likened to a proverbial fowl that perches precariously on a suspended string. The devastating defeat suffered in its South-West base in the 2003 general elections led the AD to team up with other like-minded political platforms to form a political association called Action Congress of Democrats (ACD). However, it was not presented for registration. So, it died a natural death. It was against this backdrop that the leadership of the party, under the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu put on its thinking cap and decided to abandon the AD and form the Action Congress (AC). However, for strategic reasons, the AC leadership left behind Chief Mochael Koleoso and some members to struggle for the control of AD with a view to destabilising Akinfenwa’s faction. The truth of the matter, however, is that the present members of the AC are largely drawn from AD. Now, with the number of political parties rising to an all record 54 and with the ruling PDP becoming too strong to contend with, some political players then put heads together to form a coalition of opposition that would be formidable enough to give the PDP a stiff battle. But all attempts to succeed were scuttled either by selfish interests or through the hatchet job of moles in the house. An example of such an attempt was the much touted Mega Party under leadership of the elder statesman, Chief Anthony Enahoro. With the failure of the Mega Party which led to the dispersal of notable members like General Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Chief Olu Falae, another attempt was made recently which was led by Tinubu, General Buhari, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, Chief Olu Falae, Koleoso, Akinfenwa, Chief Bisi Akande and other former AD governors like Olusegun Osoba, Alhaji Lam Adesina and Otunba Niyi Adebayo. Daily Sun learnt that there were consultations that took the stakeholders to Abuja, Ibadan, Lagos and other states in the country. It was learnt that one of the meetings in Ibadan facilitated the peace brokered between the two AD warring factions. During the consultations, Daily Sun learnt that an agreement was reached for a new name to be given to the party with a view to giving all the contributing platforms a sense of belonging. So, what is happening today in Lagos is change of name in pursuance of the accord reached by the stakesholders in previous meetings. It will be a non-elective convention in preparation for an elective one tentatively slated for Edo State sometime in September. Re-arrangement If that happens, it means that the ambition of some aspirants would suffer a setback as both elective and appointive positions would be shared and redistributed to accommodate all the stakeholders. It is against this background that palpable fear is noticeable among elective office seekers who want the ticket of the about to be defunct Action Congress (AC) as the party is set to change its name today to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Their fears, according to Daily Sun findings stem from the fact that negotiations would be entered into by all the platforms that will team up to own the new arrangement and it will also entail sharing and re-distribution of offices both elective and appointive across the country. A top chieftain of the party told Daily Sun on condition of anonymity that “the new arrangement will even start from the new Executive Committee that will be put in place immediately after the change of name.” A source close to the leadership of the party confided in our correspondent in Oshogbo that “some of the aspirants who have already started mobilising for their ambitions would be asked to drop their aspiration for new comers as every member of the new party would be considered as equal joiner and equal founding and pioneer member.” Daily Sun however gathered that though AC might be the senior partner in the new arrangement, slots would be allocated and conceded in accordance with the strength of the contributing parties in their areas of operations. For instance, former governor of Sokoto State and leader of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa might be allowed to nominate candidates for his catchment areas while the former Head of State and leader of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), might be given a free hand to nominate candidates from his own domain. Another chieftain of the party from Kwara State, who doesn’t want his name in print also explained that “in Lagos State for example, the Democratic Peoples Alliance (DPA) might be allowed to nominate candidates for offices in the Central Senatorial District because of the outstanding performance of its governorship candidate in the 2007 election, Mr. Jimi Agbaje.” The offices, Daily Sun gathered would include council seats, National Assembly slots, State of House of Assembly positions, commissioners as well as slots in the executive council of the party. National Publicity Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Mr. Michael Popoola Ajayi, who confirmed that his party is part of the new order however said that “the issue of aspiration has not come up yet,” explaining that “the issue at hand now is to first consolidate the new party before talking about individual aspiration.” Alhaji Lateef Raji, Chairman, Lagos state chapter of the AD disclosed to Daily Sun that “the two factions of the party (Mike Koleosho and Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa factions) have come together” saying “both sides have seen wisdom in closing ranks to form a formidable platform that would be strong enough to win elections.” Both factions were present at a parley in Ibadan last week where all the former AD governors like Chief Akande, Adesina, Chief Segun Osoba, Adebayo and Tinubu were in attendance. Although the AD spokesman, said the issue of aspirations is not yet on the agenda, Daily Sun however gathered that there are behind the door manoeuvres to work towards pairing General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and former Lagos state governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as presidential candidate and running mate respectively. If the rumours making the rounds is anything to go by, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, is being wooed to join the 2011 presidential race on the platform of the ACN. At the state level, a governorship aspirant from one of the southwest zone confided in Daily Sun that “though the race will be thrown open to every interested aspirant, there might be consideration for Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state and Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state for obvious reason.” But another source stated emphatically that “since the birth of the new party would sound the death knell of all the separate parties that come together to become one, the field would be thrown open for every contestant to try his or her own luck without any form of hindrance.” Whatever the case, the next few weeks before the September convention would be interesting as who becomes what, would manifest for all to see.

Anyway, Thats the real episode, |
A story was narrated to me and i was shocked. The story was superb and surprising to the extend that i could even render any opinion or answer the question that was asked. A graduate has just completed his Youth Service and was looking for job. He stayed for complete 3 years without job. There was one woman that stands as his intimate friend. She was the one feeding, clothing and sponsoring him at all costs. After these years, this woman got a vacant in her office and her first thought was to bring this idle man to come and occupy the space of a supervisor while the woman was a Regional manager in that branch. After 8months of his supervision, The Board of Directors decided to transfer him to another branch where he was promoted as the Regional Manager. He was happy and they all rejoice for his hardworking and achievement in his career. HE was so active in his consignments and he reorganized his staffs, hence everything moved fast and better than any other branches (They have 35 branches). He was in charge as the branch regional manager for about 3 years and during the period, he got his own family and had 2 children happily. The Chief Executive Officer call the Management for emergency meeting on him and decide to make this young man the General Manager of the whole company. All the regional manager were angry and were opposing the motive especially the lady that brought him to the office as the supervisor. (She has that complete confident that she suppose to be the one to climb the seat of the General Manager because she has being there for so long). They hate this man for that reason and the man doesn’t care. After 1 month of his post (General Manager), the lady that brought her sent an hire killer to him to ruin all his families including him. Him and All his families were killed except his wife that wasn’t around that day. His wife love him to the core that she didn’t marry for complete 6years after the death of her husband, She developed high blood pressure, appendix, heart disease and cancer. And the doctor told her that he has to carry out operation on her and that will cost her 3m. She was hospitalised and she stayed in the hospital for some months because of the illness and lack of funds. There was a man that used to go a hospital to prayer for people (A clergy) especially people that needs health and help. The clergy man discovered that the woman needs help and decided to pay up the hospital bills and the 3million that was needed for the operation. After some months, this woman come back to normal after the operation. She shows her appreciation to the clergy man that pay up her bills. From there, they came closer that ever, the man approached the woman but the woman told him that she loves her husband so much, that after 6years, she hasn’t seen any man that would occupy the space of her husband. But after some pressure and understanding that man is still single, she accepted this man and was pregnant for this man after 8months of relationship. One night, the clergy man called her to tell her all his past, he explained to the woman that he was an hirekiller, that he was a real sinner before. But now, he has repent and at the same time, there was an operation he carried out last, i think that was the reason why i repent. I ruin the complete family of this man, its was only his wife that was left out, and now he has being looking for the wife just for him to ask for forgiveness from her. He narrated all this story and mentioned the name of the deceased that was killed and their sender. This woman discovered that he was the one that killed all her families including her husband, she was nerved and decided to kill him at that spot. The man begged and let her understand that if she kills him, she has nothing to gain and she has joined the train of sinners. At the end of the day, she felt sorry and reconcile again. The love continue to grow up the more. One day, they both went out for shopping, she saw her dead husband shopping too. She was shocked and ran away. Her former husband lost all his memory when the neighbours rushed them to the hospital, he couldn’t remember anything again. But as this man saw his wife, he recall and understand that he was once married and have children, he pursued her to tell her that he is not a ghost. The lady brought him to her new husband’s house and the husband call both of them to explained that he was the one that killed his families (Senior Clergy men were invited and they all sit in their midst). They begged him and quote the word of God to him to be a forgiver. He forgave the former hire killer completely. Now, this is the question WHO WILL THE WOMAN GO BACK TO? |

, Brown admits that the apparent contradiction in records of the post-resurrectional appearances is real. "It is quite obvious," Brown writes, "that the Gospels do not agree as to where and to whom Jesus appeared after his resurrection."[1] "Just as the Jerusalem tradition leaves little or no room for subsequent Galilean appearances," explains Brown, "the Galilean narratives seem to rule out any prior appearances of Jesus to the Twelve in Jerusalem."[2] Citing immense textual evidence, Brown then declares his disapproval of the simples solution to the contradiction: "We must reject the thesis that the Gospels can be harmonized through a rearrangement whereby Jesus appears several times to the Twelve, first in Jerusalem, then in Galilee."[3] Rather, concludes the Church spokesman, "Variations in place and time may stem in part from the evangelists themselves who are trying to fit the account of an appearance into a consecutive narrative."[4] Brown makes clear that the post-resurrection appearance accounts are creative, substantially non-historical attempts to reconstruct events never witnessed by their respective authors.
