nisai: We really need restructuring and power devolution to be able to develop at a much faster speed. The current system is really holding us down. This is why some are agitating for Yoruba nation when they feel leaders from other ethnicities will never support restructuring due to envy or jealousy for the perceived and obvious greatness of the Yoruba people. They will rather have us stuck in stagnancy with them than leave them behind. Very well said. God bless you! @theenchanter & @ Arnold1 were just discussing how states are only allowed to generate a maximum of 30 MW of electricity to be distributed in their states. Anything above this, must go through the national grid! You can imagine this! It is disheartening! |

kevapet: Ogun state is a disgrace. A big one at that. Osun state that doesnt even generate half of what Ogun gets monthly can boast of more good roads than Ogun.
Ogun state have the worst road in the whole of SW if not the whole of Nigeria self.
The only good thing about Ogun state is that the state is unarguably better in HDI than every other SW states other than Lagos. I think other SW states should emulate the state on that one. I commend Ogun state indigenes on that. If other Western Nigeria states can improve on their HDI, sky will sure be our starting point as the abroad of Nigeria. What measures does Ogun state take to have a better HDI? Which indices specifically are you referring to? |

kevapet: It is already. He even re-built or maybe re-modeled Eleyele dam from the ordinary reservoir they left it all these years. And then building water park in the other part. Also building 4 ultra modern bus station(Terminal) all in Ibadan. Late Ajimobi laid a very good foundation for a modern Ibadan and it's nice seeing Seyi walking in that path. Being from Ibadan is prolly some added advantage. This sounds really good. A lot of upgrading/modernization is needed in Ibadan metropolis. Ajimobi really tried in Ibadan. May his soul RIP |

Arnold1: Abeokuta needs a large central park with beautiful trees, green lawn, lake/pond etc. Similar to Agodi Gardens in Ibadan.
It can be built in two or three phases to spread out costs.
The govt can partner with the private sector.
People would drive from Lagos for the fresh air and beauty of nature.
It would also boost tourism ( and IGR) for Ogun State. Agreed! A befitting city park in ABK would be wonderful. Many wonderful thoughts and ideas on this thread. |

GNature: Gov Abiodun, please try and spread development across the state (not just the capital). To be successful, you need to have a well thought out road map/master plan and work with very bright minds.
Some people complain about loans, but there is nothing wrong with taking loans when it is put to good use. The thing is, loans must be properly managed so that at any given time, loan servicing is never above 15% of state revenue. This is why Obasanjo’s govt created the debt management office (DMO) when he was president.
A lot of the great projects you see in Lagos were completed using debt. Ogun can do the same.
I am rooting for you Governor and wish you the best. I agree. Ogun state needs someone like Babatunde Fashola to harness its potential and propel it to new heights. I have to admit I am impressed with the growth I’m seeing in Abeokuta. |
