Please someone should advice me, I'm 42 years, I read electrical electronics engineering university of Lagos ,and I intend applying for a student Permit in Canada, I have a Ltd organization with six months turn over of 150m and 10m balance and personal account turn over of 12m and 5m balance. I have previously worked in the then Oceanic bank a network administrator, I'm married with two kids one of WHICH was born in the USA, I have traveled to US, UK, china, France, Togo, Benin. Etc.
The cousrei applied for (graduate program) in a college. and what I'm presently into are highly correlated ,
My question is what will be my challenges?I'm new here
First things first...to have a turnover of 150m in six months....i'm currently applauding you. sir, i will recommend you go the express entry route...its will take about the same time as a student permit, and u can eventually go to school and pay local fees, not international. so please, explore that option either as a skilled worker or entrepremeur.

I am sorry that you construe me as combative and not open to challenge of my opinions. I am not forcing my opinions on anyone and don't have that kind of power. Just passionately making my opinions on what I think is right and feel bears truth and logic. If you disagree, go with the opinions of those you feel are right. It's as simple as that pal. Your ad hominem attacks are uncalled for. Do have a nice day for yourself as well.
grin hmmmm.....calm, matured response....

ISK9:
Hi jnyuwa02,

Actually this is my first post on this forum. As a matter of fact, i had to sign up so i can address you and your related post. Having followed this thread silently for over a year now, i must say it is one of the most insightful and informative so far.
I used most information gotten from here to process my study permit application which was approved on the first attempt. I have learnt from past elders in this house and i'm still learning from the current knowledgeable people here too because i also want to guide my siblings to pursue their study here in Canada.

Now to the issue, i have watched and read most of your comments filled with so much ambuiguity, aggressiveness, pride and very unwelcoming attitude towards everybody that have a contrary view and opinion about anything your post here. One thing you must learn to understand is that this is a forum and in as much as you 'think' you are knowledgeable or intelligent on a wide variety of issues, the bulk doesn't and won't stop at your table. Reading most of your post, i notice you only want anything you suggest or say to either stand out or be acceptable as the right thing probably because you use grammars or your well carved words project sense in the things you post.

You must learn to be humble, interact with people that have little or similar or more knowledge or idea than you. You flip a lot once someone challenges your post and this is simply because you see a contrary opinion in a competitive manner rather than in an interactive way. Nobody here is a VO or an immigration expert, if all you claim you know about laws, immigration and all were really what they are, you wouldn't be here in the first place. You would use those knowledge to build an independent empire for yourself in one way or the other and not here arguing and arguing. Real intelligent people don't argue a lot, the pick things from people's opinion and make the most of them either by studying more or using a better strategy.

I have followed @Austinpee4 very well all through the period i was preparing for my application and one thing i can tell about him is facts! He just has a way to give you facts than mere sentiments or assumed knowledge. Even in this still, he will advise that people go on the appropraite website to cross-check information put across. Even with the event of today, he still didn't disappoint. He attached a screen shot of the facts and even part of the screen shot was the same thing you started dragging. Do you even get tiredhuh

While filling my form, i filled funds for one year and the statements of accounts showed funds for one year. Deep into the processing of my application, CIC requested that i pay my tuition and show evidence of living expenses for a year because of the forex control policies at the time and not for two years like you have been struggling to prove today. I have lots of friends here in Canada who all filled funds for a year. Some didn't even have the funds but were able to show this using their sponsors. The required funds is for a year! If any applicant choose to show an exceeding amount to cover for the entire program, good! But it doesn't change the provisions of the ACT of CIC that requires funds for a year. They can't give conflicting statements either on their forms or the website as you noted.

Only in a case of a self sponsored applicant that this may apply if he or she does not have any source or sources of generating further income while studying in Canada. If your look carefully at the screenshot, the later part of it mention that the student must also show that there will be a possibility of generating funds for subsequent years. Then what are you even saying? If an applicant has a sponsor that is working and can earn enough to support the sponsored, i don't see how this would mean showing the entire funds. Why then is there a need for a sponsor when you have shown funds for your entire program.

Dude, you don't have to be combative to understand things neither do you need to lie to yourself when you do not have information about something. Own up to it, learn and improve on how you relate with people. This is one sure avenue for you to improve on yourself and as far as i'm concerned, your attitude towards your post are more important than what you are even writing sef. It's either you are reminding us on how long you have lived in the US or how you understand the Canadian system and laws but then it is not reflective in your post. I have a lot of respect for you but most times, i can't seem to understand why it is difficult for you to relate with people that have better understanding than yourself in an issue. Nobody knows it all. You have learnt a lot here since you joined and shows you have made progress in your knowledge.

Accomodate people's opinion and ideas, learn how to respond with some sense of agreement or disagreement. Keep your personal experience to yourself, majority of us are not interested. If you have a suggestion to make, give an accurate one and allow people make their decision. Most importantly, avoid resentful comments, it's just appalling each time you do. You are smart, yes. Allow this also to show in how you relate in the forum. It is a forum afteral and not a house of competition.

Have a good day sir.

Hello Gurus,

Good Evening,My 1 year tuition is 15,445CAD for a 2year PGD intended study i was delayed 30th of last month for with all financial boxes ticked so i applied immediately for my GCMS note. After seeing the notes i think my case is a clear example of V.Os not checking all documents submitted please i really need your input and advise because i want reapply immediately. Apart from paying the tuition fee balance for 1year what other things do you think i can add to tackle this denial. Please see attached GCMS note stating Lump sum from an unknown source and below the history of the financial statement submitted.

Sponsor Mum
GT Bank - 7.8 million (Mum received rent of 4.6 million in July for a whole building she letted out to a school she also paid 7,500 CAD half of 1 year tuition in August
UBA- 2.3 million (her salary account with monthly income of 285,000)

My Bank Statement
GT Bank- 2.5 million (Mum transferred 1.5 million to me and she stated it in the letter addressed to V.O)

Please note that i included rent receipt of the 4.6 million and all documents of the building but obviously the V.O did not check the document and still denied me on lump sum from an unknown source. The v.O also stated i included a third party sponsor which is false. There two statement from my mum and my GTBank LOA
This is sad, the issue i see here is what you explained was just not visible enough or was skipped. I would advise you file to re-open your case, and point out where you explained it. However, re you the only child of your mother, if not, are the others still dependent on her.

All the schools I have mentioned have computer science. You need to start digging in. Their tuitions plus room and board a year are astronomical--60k US dollars a year. But good thing is they are financially generous to promising and worthy student who otherwise cannot afford to attend. I attended two of the listed schools at practically 0$ to my cost. So go try your luck. If your sponsor who is your uncle, was denied visa, that doesn't mean anything. You are not your uncle. I mentioned some second tier schools in the USA, university of Maine. 20k a year USA dollars covering for everything. St Thomas University and Trent university in Canada are also affordable. 20K a year Canadian covering everything. Go do your research sir and wishing you the best!

Ps: no guarantees on visas. USA visa is pretty straightforward and easier to get with admission letter, valid I-20 and proof of financial ability. Documenting heaven and earth that you are gonna come back like they do in Canada embassy is not really in vogue with the USA application.
Omo, you patient o. After giving him a sample of the schools that he could check out, he still started asking tuition fees when a simple google search will bring that out. Well done sir.

Evening Gurus in d house

I want to apply for a masters programme

Plz I need good schools in the range of almost 5000$ range for a semester.

Also if applied and refused visa, can one get refund payment back.

Prompt response will be appreciated
You'll be better off if you go on jobberman and put up an offer for a Personal Assistant. When the assistant then gets you a list of good schools in the range of $5000, we can help with the application process.

Also, yes you get your refund usually without the application fee

From the early gurus

"STEPS TO CANADA ONLINE VISA APPLICATION

Hey there, Tired of waiting, and feeling Frustrated with the Canada visa Paper route processing time?
The solution you need is right here. Online route is all you need to get going

Follow these easy steps:

1. Visit www.cic.gc.ca to register……Click on Apply online, you’ll get a prompt asking if you have applied before……Click NO……you get the next prompt asking “What are you applying for?”......Select STUDY PERMIT………you get another prompt asking “Have you used our online questionnaire to find out if you’re eligible to apply?”……your answer here should be NO since you’re applying for the first time, but if you’ve filled the questionnaire before then you can click YES.

2. After Clicking a NO to the Eligibilty Questionnaire question in step 1 then it takes you to an info Page……Just Click START……..Now that you’re on the getting started page…..Take your time to read the instructions……And then Click NEXT……Please fill in the Questionnaire correctly as these will be used to generate a Checklist code for you to upload your documents on your myCIC account.

3. After completely filling the Eligibility Questionnaire you will hit the “Review your answer page”……Please scan through to confirm your answers to the Questionnaire…….Then Click CONTINUE…………It will take you to a page were your CHECK LIST CODE is boldly written……the one I generated for mysef now is OX2980052333(plsssss this na my own code oooo,go generate your own biko).….Please copy your CODE or save that page or print that page……Just don’t misplace your own checklist code biko…..if you do, then you will have to fill another questionnaire all over again to generate another checklist code….. Please note that the checklist code you generated has expiry date(probably 2 months) so if you plan on generating the code make sure you use it before it expires else you would have to generate another.

4. Now that you have created your check list code the real application begins……you will have to re-iterate from Step 1 by visiting www.cic.gc.ca….Click on Apply online, you get a prompt asking if you have applied before……Click NO……you get the next prompt asking “What are you applying for?”......Select STUDY PERMIT………you get another prompt asking “Have you used our online questionnaire to find out if you’re eligible to apply?” ……at the point click YES........It then ask you “Do you have a code that looks like this: QK4350881372?”……..Click YES…….Then it takes you to “Create myCIC account page”……Click START.........Now you’re at the page……Click GCKey Login…….since you do not have a Username and password yet then click REGISTER FOR A NEW GC-KEY........After you must have registered…..It takes you to terms and conditions page….Just click I ACCEPT……….

5. After clicking accept….it ask you if you already have a client ID which is also known as UCI number…..if you had previously applied to CDHC either through paper route or other route and you were given a UCI no please click YES…..but if you are just freshly applying to the Embassy then click NO…..Then it takes you to the Mycic Enrolment were you will fill your names, DOB, Country of birth, passport number……Then click CONTINUE…..Next is to create your security question …… click CONTINUE…….Then it ask for your email…..enter your email and click CONTINUE……. you get to your main cic page were you get to click APPLY ONLINE……….It ask you for the checklist code(remember the code we created at the beginning)…..

6. Enter your checklist code……..Now it takes you to the checklist questionnaire review page……Please note that you can still modify your questionnaire on the fly if you are not satisfied with some answers you provided…..all you need to do is click on MODIFY…….When you are done reviewing the page, click CONTINUE……Then it takes you to the part where you get to upload all you scanned documents……View the picture below to see what it looks like……

7. Please always click the question(?) attached to each upload section….example:- once you click the (?) attached to “Proof of Means of Financial Support” you will get these long lists
• your bank statements for the past four months
• a bank draft in convertible currency
• pay stubs
• an employment letter
• proof of assets or business
• proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees
• tax reports, declarations or statements
• proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution
• a letter from the person or institution providing you with money
• proof of funding paid from within Canada, if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program
• proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada

All you need to do is look for the documents you are able to provide on this list and then Copy and Paste them into a Microsoft word after scanning…..Save the document as PDF format in other to get a lower size pdf document…..if at the end you shrinked to pdf and you still have a larger size pdf, then please download a pdf compressor www.pdfcompressor.org

This is just for a section of Upload…..there are other Upload section(check the pics) were you need to also shrink documents to lower size….Please do this right and make your documents as clear as possible after shrinking.

When you are done uploading all docx......It takes you to the Review page.....Click CONTINUE.......Now you're at the payment page....Please make use of Zenith or First bank master card.....It has been tested and trusted to work on CIC platform.

Now that your application has been completed....always watch out for any message in your cic account....usually they notify you via your email of any pending message in your CIC account so always check your email regularly

Please note that these steps also apply to Visiting Visa application.....Just follow the Instructions for Visiting Lobatan!!!

take your time to study this well….Its practical so do not be scared to read all…..once you get going with it on your PC/Laptop you would see how easy it is to apply Online……Package your application well and then leave the rest to baba God…..GOD AINT SLEEPING

Cheers

Long Post Alert
Pre -application......The Most Critical stage.
August 2016

While at work i spoke to a colleague of my plans of going to the USA for my Masters, i finished with a 2:2 and had already gotten admission from a good school in Florida. However, she asked "why the US, why not Canada?" Prior to that question the only thing i knew about canada was they were above the USA, i had never thought about it and didnt even know why she asked. i replied saying "hellllooo....This is USA, land of milk and honey"....she laughed and told me to read this thread....funny enough, before then i had no idea what Nairaland was for, when doing research i see some posts but just didnt care about it

September 2016 - February 2016

Research!!!!
I work as an analyst of a consulting firm and research is my last name, so this was meant to be simple, but the information overload was something else. I got to this thread during Part 11, but i was just confused, very confused, so i went back to Part 1...but i realised that was just madness, so i started from 9 and read every single line, i didn't need to ask any question cuz someone will ask it, and the gurus will explain so well...every lunch break, in the toilet, before sleeping, after morning devotion, i always had a tab open on either a computer or my phone.

I knew it will be veryyyyy difficult to get a Masters degree with my grade, so i settled on a PGD, however this couldn't be any PGD, had to be from the best college, so half my time on Nairaland, the other on college rankings, reviews by students, different provinces (later realised Toronto was in Ontario lol), racism, banks, networks, basically everything all the way to the anthem "oh Canada".

Since i am in the finance sector it was definitely going to be in Ontario, regardless of the cost (i'm a firm believer in spending money to making money). So i had option with conestoga, centinniel, durham, algoquin, seneca, the whole lot really. And for me, i believed Seneca was the right step for me. My eventual goal was to get a masters degree, so the course didn't really matter to me, as long as it was finance related and a year long (don't have time to waste).

Application Stage
Finally Applied in February 2017 with a view of starting in September 2017, but i didnt get admission till end of april, i then used the whole of May to gather and prepare all my documents
The CIC forms
Uni Transcript
Uni certificate
NYSC Certificate
Sponsors account of $15,000, 9 million Naira (inflow outflow of over 300 million) and shares of 3 million
Landed property of 20 million
My CV
SOP of less than a page, just explaining the Value i can add to the classroom in canada, and the impact other classmates of various nationalities will have on me....it was a short sop, but showed passion to canada, passion to Nigeria and passion for self development and a bit of humour showing myself as what i really am, a fun humorous guy
Letter of admission...i even forgot to add the fact i paid for school fees
International Passport with proper travel history....Please and please under no conditions should you violate your visa to any country or overstay the normal duration
Please dont ask if i submitted anything else, such as police report and all.....i didn't....I figured if they want it, they can ask me, which was probably wrong, but why else should background check be so long if they are using the reports of our police eh

i submitted on the 7th of june, paper route and put it all in Gods hands. I was a bit scared because i didnt want a rejection, cuz i will need to always put it on every document that asks "have you ever been refused visa to any country" and i just couldn't be bothered thinking of that each time, but the faith and encouragement of families and friends made me so positive about the outcome (surround yourself with the right people....note: The right people don't always need to be optimists, but they should never be pessimists), though i was very very careful about becoming complacent and putting all my worries the Almighty God. Days becam weeks, weeks became months, doubts crept in, but my faith won't waver, people i applied before got their TRVs and resumed on time, but i kept telling myself @abiodune is there, you can't even start complaining, just be thankful.

In August i sent Cse's and emails, i got automated responses and after my resumption date passed i didn't bother..what will be, will be.
I focused on my career and development, and kept reading here, and chipping in tme from time, got encouraged by a few testimonies and i later got a request for new LOA, then medicals, then approval.

People say submit a tight application, but i will say, let yourself show through your application, be honest ALWAYS, show that even if you are denied, life will still go on for you, try to help others when you can (the sky is big enough). And just always remember....God wants the best for you, ad maybe at that period in time, you going to canada won't help you (during my stay from september till now, if i had gone, i realised i would have missed so many opportunities that came in a space of one month, so im grateful)...DONT LET CANADA BLOCK YOUR EYES FOR OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Be safe.....NEWBIES READ UP ON VARIOUS POSTS BY MANY MANY OTHERS>>>>I CANNOT EMPHASISE THIS ENOUGH

Lol, wanted to play it cool and casual like it was nothing and be like "TRV approved", but i know deep down this was really God. I'll update my documents shortly and for those still believing in your canadian dream, hold on to God tightly. It is well

Forget my story Madam,
If you try it, there are two things involved.
1. Is either you waste your effort and money or
2. You finally miss the resumption date.

After everything, they will still tell you to go back home to apply.

smiley[/quote]Ita not or....they will both happen

The chances of securing PR with a one year SP is slim because you will be given a year PGWP after graduation and you have to secure a job during this period and acquire one year working experience as a criteria for the PR application plus getting the required IELTS score .

You have to keep looking for more schools, Ontario and Alberta are highly populated because they are more whether friendly, look further to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador .
Hmm..so two years is the better option?
