With your concerns go for 2010/11 Camry with 2AR engine; commonly referred to as venza engine.(that's the best amogst your choice)



Your second best option is 2008/2009 Rav 4(v6 or i4 will suffice)

You're very wrong. Havei have been using Google map since 2014 and it has been very reliable. Obviously there are no good roads around the OP's location cuz Google map route to the best and traffic free road for you to take. It even ask you before re-routing to a shortcut.

It just came to my notice that my gearbox oil is leaking from the shaft.

I’m driving a 2003 Toyota Camry. I’ve read a lot about transmission developing issues once tempered with.

I took it to my mechanic, he said the seal joining the shaft to the gear box is bad and need to be change. ( pics attached)

I’m afraid because I’ve seen a lot of people loose their gearbox once tempered with.

Guys, how can you help. What Measures should I take to save guard my car.

Should I get a new seal? Will it affect the gearbox.

The seal has expanded just as oga femi said up there...

Your transmission won't even be removed...it's nothing, don't be scared.

After the seal(s) have been replaced, check the oil level. If it's low, drain and refill with type T iv.

Besides the 10pin transmission inside your 03 Camry hardly die! It's a rugged transmission.

Proceed with no fear.

Well, i didnt bother to adk for the code, all i was concerned with was for him to fix the problem. Which he claimed he did by doing some resetting using his device. It was after i left that i realised the problem wasnt resolved totally.

Op, does your car respond seamlessly to acceleration while stionary.

You might be having issues with the valve body...

It's a dicey issue.

Had similar issue like 2/3 months ago.


If valve body change won't solve the issue, then spend no more, it's an internal error. You might have to replace the transmission.




Modified: boss, try this out, put the gear to D(drive), wait about five minutes(wait very well) without reving the car at all. See if the gear engages itself.

If it does, don't try changing the valve body it will amount to waste of money.

But if it doesn't, and it's untill you rev high before it engages, then try the valve body.

The solenoids inside might be faulty.

Everything over cost in Ekiti State, including transportation imagine Ikere to Ado is 250 naira, Ikere to Akure is closed to #1500 naira, the most embarrassing issues is that Ado and Ikere Young guys aren't ready to work again.
