I wonder who has taught the North to be advancing uninformed arguments about revenue sharing. Our system is so warped it makes it so normal for people to have an impossibly assertive sense of entitlement. What the news article implies is that there are no privileges for being a coastal state. I hope very soon they would not be asking for rainfall and some of the thick forests and magrove swamps to be relocated to the North. Hopefully they would not be challenging the littoral states not to develop their beach with atlantic ocean, or that local fishermen would not have a right to fish on those waters without assent by the North. I am wondering when people with their eye on Niger Delta wealth would realize that there is a great deal of economic opportunity cost which ND has borne for the nation on land and sea and for which they have hardly been compensated to date. Rubbish polity.... |
Let him be careful. Hopefully Nigeria is safer now. Ask Late Gen. Muritala Mohammed the price of living humble... |
@OnlyTruth & PhysicsQED Unlike most historical analysis on NL I find you guys near accurate in your assertions. Unfortunately one can hardly get two people with different opinions on Nigerian history to agree on a forum. Anyways, I'm surprised nobody had mentioned the constitution in this midst of all this talk about Nigeria. And why it was thought that a presidential system of government was better than a parliamentary system. Lastly, I recommend that Nigerians insist on 100% private ownership of properties with only obligations to pay tax. Where it is difficult to zero on an individual, a community will jointly own their wealth instead. |

This is really complicated and remote - the MIL is obviously over-demanding - the husband cannot personally call his Mum to order - op is irritated and is communicating her irritation in the way she relates with G-ma Don't do the foot-downing! You need to help your husband see reason to read the riot act to your MIL. Somehow you will need her and you also need to initiate some interaction even if it amounts to undeserved deferring. Moderately though, try and understand your her motive beyond money demands. Your husband needs to find a voice for himself and the family. If he draws the line your in-laws can only go so far, But this MIL is an extreme case. |
Wow This is a quite interesting departure from the "I told you so" and "Bad Nigerian Men" series, @ Op: Hope it works out good for you. |
^even that correction is wrong, Sebi na to communicate? |
Emotinally paralyzed, for the taking, that is, |
I tell you guys upfront, having schooled @ Ilorin where you find this guy's sub-ethnic group, that he cuts the look of a ladies' man upfront, which also explains the less than dismissive statements being made by the females on this thread. He's handsome and has that look that makes a typical female emotinally paralyzed on a good day. |
@ NJ Girl: you could have a point. But notice that this is less common in richer societies where there is a sense of assurance and security for all and this is irrespective of race. If u check out sustainably prospering black nations your observations are less common among their people. And when any society is on that path the citizens tend to aspire to more civil and comported lifestyles. That is not the case for most black nations, so the black race is a victim of being rounded to the nearest whole because majority of black nations have failed in this wise. That said though, this is a romance thread, and the quality of civility is likely better on forums for prosperous black nations as said above. @ Ms Dark Skin: We are not cursed. Just suffering the consequences of poor choices and leaders' inability to delay gratification, |
To put it in perspective, boys chase a sophie-looking girl for the bleeping. Just be careful, And at the rate that you don't dop you number or addie, be careful cos sum1 might set you up one day, Most importantly, love yourself, no amount of people liking o drooling after you can replace that, BTW you have so many HATE aunties here on NL, ![]() |
I love the way we keep talk real so why are people asking to stay off crude topics when they should keep shut when they can't handle it? |
This girl is repeatedly succeeding in making us all drool on her thread, |
Nj girl:Very likely this just a by-product of black civility and our environments. I am Nigerian. But I will rather we deal with stuff as they are so one day we can be over them. I don't believe the right thing to do is to play the socially correct card. We will evolve out of that attitude one day but we have to confront it now because all the "black on black" observations are real and ignoring them won't make them go away, |
@Lola.luv So na so u don dey striptease people since 2 months. You be punisha o!!! ![]() |

Those of you who want someone to trade for you without chopping your money can call Alpari on (01)8128274. However, technically FOREX requires risk capital - you must be willing to lose as much as you are willing to gain, which will further depend on the degree of riskiness of your traders that trade for you. |
@ Muntula my first paragraph ^^^^ was meant for you. The Boko Haram quote is just a bad, |
Muntula:True. But we in this part of the world cannot fall back on police for protection from deterrents. This is not a western thing. Crime happens all over the world. Indeed, we tend to quote western influence but violence in their media has not resulted into more violence in their streets. In fact the reason why we think it has is because the violence is better documented in those parts than in these parts. Moreover, even the arab and asian countries do not fair better as they have suppresive and backward criminal procedures and they suppress records too. Do we have a good record of our victims of missing persons/ ritual murders? Let's start from there. @ Occamm: I believe our right to independence and life for now is a given. Nobody is contesting it. What is not secure is survival. And you cannot preach your right to independence and life to an assailant while he/ she is at it. Preventions will do better here. We should not take our rights for granted especially in a country where you cannot be sure of the environment that formed the psyche of the people you are surrounding yourself with, |
In spite of living as responsibly as possible, there are inherent risks in many of the choices we can make especially in this part of the world, because we always erroneously presume that people we live with or engage are reasonable people who act within confines of the law or morals. It is a very expensive assumption which a lot of us have unknowingly walked through unscathed or are walking through without realizing the inherent dangers we are really subjecting ourselves to. This is a rather unfortunate incident. |
Oga Sheyguy Simply because some disorientates threadjacked means a moderator should yank people off? Na waz o. Don't let the reaction to this thread bother you. History records that distractions like this are why battles were won and lost (even in Nigeria). Be content with the part you played by bring this to notice, |
While BL may have certain rationale I think this guy is irretrievably anchored to his perceptions, THERE IS SO MUCH VARIETY AND DIVERSITY IN BLACK LIFE & LIFESTYLES THAN FOR YOU TO GENERALIZE BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCE OR EVEN RESEARCH!!!!!! I HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT ANY LOUDER THAN THIS!!!!!!! |
on a good day.
