The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), a separatist group pushing for the secession of the five South-East states from Nigeria, has begun lobbying the United Nations, American authorities, and other Western countries to back its campaign. At the head of the intense lobbying activities, which has seen the group reaching out to key American government officials and policy makers, is a Nigerian-born United States-based lobbyist, Chukwuma Obi, himself a veteran of the Nigerian Civil War. In a report he filed with the department of justice, in line with the Foreign Agent Registration Act, Mr. Obi, based in Yorktown, Virginia, said he received a brief from MASSOB's founder, Ralph Uwazurike, last year to lobby officials of the United Nations, American state department, and Congress so that the Biafran issue would be debated in Congress. "More importantly," Mr. Obi said, he has the responsibility "to convince world organisations to see the importance of a plebiscite for the Biafrans through a democratic process to determine if they would want a breakaway Biafra or be in Nigeria. "We will present in writing and documented evidence the killing of Ibos in the north of Nigeria to Western governments, particularly the United States and Great Britain. We will document by correspondences and verifiable proof why and how our securities are purposely compromised by the use of the police and military." |
The internet does not remove the human nature; The only person you can trust in transacting real business is you. even in ebay and amazon, you have to pay before the goods will be shipped to you. Next time make sure you collect your complete money first before delivery, or get the person concrete contact details before you sell on credit. Sorry, you'll get more than you lost, If someone steals from you; it shows you're better than him and posses something he's been unable to have. Get the courier company to give you the details of the person they sent the goods to. |
Nigeria still remain one of the few society in the world that upholds the virtue of marriage. in other societies, people have gone beyond happy homes to deliberately remaining as a single mothers and fathers. In Southern African Countries, ladies there will tell you they don't want to get married but they need men that can just get them pregnant to get kids. To them, they can't stand the headaches in marriage. so with the aforementioned reasons by the posters, the value of marriage in our own society will soon collapse if care is not taken. |

how much will it cost me. I need one urgently and how long? |
It's high time Nigerians start asking question on what their commonwealth is beign used for. The political class gambles with our temperaments/intelligence, if they get away with one deceit and nobody talks, they go ahead to plan a graver one. but if people will protest they'll be forced to think otherwise. Imagine if all Nigerians can come together and observe "ONE NIGHT OF DARKNESS" by lighting candles and lantern only at the eagle square protesting the epileptic power situation in the country, the international community will hear it and the political class will feel uneasy. |

Contrary to reports that the Federal Government presented a budget of ten billion naira (N10billion)for approval by the National Assembly for its Nigeria @ 50 celebration, figures emerging from the National Assembly shows that the actual budget figure is in excess of N16 billion (precisely N16,372,217,977). https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-472160.0.html |
This guys are now gathering money for their 2011. I beginning to doubt the sincerity of this Jonathan! |
A review of the Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2010, submitted by the Executive and published in the National Assembly Journal of 24 June 2010, shows that allocations were made under various heads that add up to the said figure of N16.37 billion. Under the budget proposal, the office of the Secretary of the Federation will spend N6.396 billion (precisely N6, 396,700,000) on among several items the following: (a) Website design/hosting - N6 million (b) Anniversary Logo- N30 million (c) Publication of Compendium on the executives, legislature and the judiciary- N600 million (d) International Friendly Football Match- N200 million (e) Anniversary Parade, aerial display - N950 million. Also in the budget is a vote of N100 million to replace the carpets at the International Conference Centre, while special Nigeria @ 50 celebration uniforms will be produced for the security services at N1 billion. A golden Jubilee plaza will be constructed at the cost of N2.65 billion while its mounting will cost N10 million. Monuments, sculptures, towers, gifts, souvenirs and the National Stadium velodrome will cost Nigeria's tax payers about N1.5 billion. The budget also includes a line item to spend N250 million on what it calls "equipment for safe aircraft parking at 5 airports" while the sum of N1 billion is to be spent on provision of additional parking at the Abuja airport. The Abuja airport itself will gulp the sum of N1.3 billion for "renovation" Source: http://placng.org/index.php/component/content/article/54-n164-billion-not-n10-billion-budgeted-for-nigeria-50-celebration |
