Vicjustice:More than correct, but ask the immigration department, they'll deny it. It's so bad that some of them don't even know the exchange rates of most currencies, just flash Euro or Dollar at them, and they are at your bet and call. |
Police arrest 10 suspects in Borno …As hunt for escapee Bauchi Prison inmates continues AS Nigerian political leaders jostle for positions in the upcoming elections gathers steam, fear of devastating terror, again, has gripped residents of the northern states, following indications that remnants of the flushed Boko Haram may have regrouped. Specifically, palpable fear is said to have gripped residents of Northern States of Borno and neighbouring Yobe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba and Gombe in recent weeks following the reports of Boko Haram-style attacks. National Daily intelligence scooped that the deadly sect members regrouping may not be unconnected with the growing political apathy over the power control. One of the sources who pleaded for anonymity said fear is that these hoodlums could become ready tool for some disgruntled politicians to unleash mayhem against opponents and scuttle free and fair elections. Mohammed Yusuf, the youthful leader of Boko Haram the Islamic Militant Sect was killed in July last year. But even at the point of death, he remained unrepentant saying “even if you kill me, I will rise again” (in Hausa) “My followers will continue the struggle. I know Allah will bring me back.” http://nationaldailyngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3427:boko-haram-panic-grips-north-again&catid=99:current-cover&Itemid=489 |
Vicjustice:We just hope and pray that it doesn't degenerate to that; but I bet you, some Nigerians are too corrupt that they'll accept bribes from Terrorist knowing fully well their deadly mission to waste lives; to such Nigerians, it's their turn to hammer (maker real money) they don't care if it results to loss of innocent lives so long as they go home with some money. When you land at MMA in Lagos, you need to see the embarrassing and shameful ways which both the security personnel and the hangabouts in the airport demand for money out-rightly or covertly from returnees, these sort of people will not blink an eyelid aiding terrorist to achieve their aims. I strongly support they should be replaced with foreign personnel ![]() |
A new twist was added to the story of the slain assistant director of State Security Service (SSS) who was murdered in Kano alongside his wife and three children when family members said yesterday that his eldest son’s admission on Monday that he committed the murders was made under duress. Family spokesman Umar Danjani Hadejia said yesterday that a representative of the family had an audience with the suspect, Bello Garba Bello, and that they discussed his “confession” for about an hour. According Danjani, Bello, popularly known as Baba, told the family representative that the SSS operatives forced him to confess that he killed his father, mother and three siblings. “He told a representative of the family who had an hour’s session with him that his confessions were not true, and that he admitted to the killings in order to stop the treatment meted out on him,” Danjani said. Contrary to police claims that Baba said he committed the murders alone, Danjani said that Baba told the family’s representative yesterday that he was not part of the murder, and that the murder was committed by about seven hoodlums. Danjani, an immediate younger brother to the slain mother of five and cousin to the late SSS officer, also said his late sister was a heavily-built woman and he could not imagine a situation whereby her lanky son could overpower her. “She was a giant and very strong. I can’t imagine a situation whereby a person of Baba’s lanky frame could overpower her. He can’t overpower five persons in one fell swoop. We believe even animals can’t be killed in that sequence by one person,” he said. Danjani said Baba also told the family that he was sweet-talked into admitting to the killings “because they pestered him with questions and dehumanising treatments.” According to the family, Baba had been in chains ever since his arrest and they promised to let him off the hook if he admitted to killing the family members. The family also said immediately after the incident, they queried 11-year-old Farouk after his escape from the murder scene and he did not implicate his brother. “He told us that somebody from the fence called one Aminu, but we are dismayed to see something contrary in Farouk’s statement to the SSS,” he said. The family also appealed to the SSS to release Farouk since they concluded that Baba committed the murder alone. “You can hold Baba since he is a suspect but you cannot hold Farouk. You should let him join his family,” Danjani said.

Read this from the initial post https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-513160.0.html The attackers gained entry into the family’s house and killed five of the seven members around for a yet-to-established motive and they did not take away anything, the police said. State police commissioner Mohammed Gana, who visited the house, told newsmen the police suspected that the culprits were hired assassins partly because nothing was stolen from the house. He said investigations have started to establish the motives and find the killers. Shortly before she was killed, Habiba had put a distress telephone call to her elder sister Hajiya Jummai and told her that some people were trying to kill them. Jummai told Daily Trust that she received the call at about 1.40am, and her sister was saying: “They are trying to kill us, They will kill me now…” She said she hurriedly asked who were the attackers and Habiba muttered something that sounded like the name Baba. Jummai said after that, she heard some commotion in the background and then the line went dead. Nigerian Police are bloody liars, where lies forensic evidences? they are just good in extortion |
If security operatives can't protect themselves, then we have a very big problem looming, the government should legalize the possession of firearms for self defense, this way, people will be cautious on how they stalk there fellow humans. Americans are doing it, South Africa too. |
Hi Mr. Moderator Jarus! I posted this story before you this morning and intends to monitor the response only to see that yours that was posted about 2 hrs later made it to the front page. I thought there is a rule that said one should crosscheck topics to avoid duplications? The Government should permit every citizen to carry arms for self defense, if your assailant knows you are armed; he'll not plan to come and eliminate the whole family. Just Imagine that the sons that escaped were armed, they should have gunned down at least one of the assailants. |
Lucky survivors Farouk, who sustained serious injuries, is being watched over by operatives of the SSS in a Kano hospital where he is receiving treatment. Family sources told NEXT that Mr. Bello, who is an indigene of Jigawa State, was serving in the medical department of the SSS in Sokoto State. He was reported to have been ill for some time and was in Kano to take care of his health after he was granted a sick leave. He had planned to return to his Sokoto base this Saturday, before he met his untimely death. Security sources said that earlier this year, while the deceased was away, persons suspected to be thieves broke into his house, which is a few metres away from a police outpost, and made away with all his valuables. According to a neighbour, Aminu Sarki, he was with the deceased on Sunday by 5.30pm and he(the deceased) didn't complain of any threat to his life. "I was shocked when I received a phone call this morning (Monday) while I was still on my bed that my good friend and members of his family have been murdered. I couldn't believe it because yesterday, I and my wife were with them and they didn't complain of anything," he said. Another source said that the day before, the door to the deceased's home had to be forced open, after efforts to open it from inside failed. The deceased had to call on his neighbours to open it from outside. He was later quoted to have said he suspected someone must have tampered with the door. Kano State commissioner of police, Mohammed Gana, confirmed the incident, saying, "It is a clear case of an act of assassins. We were there this morning and preliminary investigation has indicated that it was not a robbery attack. "Two of his children escaped from the hands of the assassins. We are going to interrogate them to find out whether they can give us any clue. Investigation is still on; and no arrest has been made yet," he said. |
Unknown assassins in the wee hours of Monday invaded the home of an official of the State Security Service killing him along with four members of his family. The official, identified as Garba Bello, was killed when the assassins forced their way into his home, situated in Kundila Gandu Estate, off Zoo Road, in Kano around 2am. He was killed along with his wife, Habiba (40), while three of his children were strangulated. They were identified as Hafsat (16), Khalifa (14), and Murjatu (5). Two of his sons, Bello (21), a student of Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, and Farouk, escaped by jumping over the fence of the house. Lucky survivors

David Mad!, sorry Mark should be reading this, when Ghadafi gave Nigeria the simply solution to their endless misery, the whole country joined their oppressive leaders to condemn Ghadafi. The above story shows how the man has the interest of his country at heart by channeling the proceeds from the oil to develop the country, in contrast to misleaders in Nigeria that uses the proceeds from their oil to impoverish the masses while the masses claps for them for eating from the crumbs of the so called national cake. |

A frustrating habit This is not the first time that a probe of the National Assembly finances will fail to lead to any prosecution. Farida Waziri, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said at a press conference on June 7 that her commission has concluded investigations into the 2.3 billion naira Peugeot car scandal, and that a copy of its report had been sent to its legal department and to the presidency, a claim the presidency promptly denied. Two months after Mrs Waziri's statement, not only has no one been able to locate the report, but the EFCC has kept mum about it. The report allegedly indicted Dimeji Bankole, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and other leaders of the House. When contacted on the whereabouts of the report and why the EFCC has not commenced prosecution over it, Femi Babafemi, the EFCC spokesman, simply said, "I don't know." |
Probe continues The media consultant to the ICPC, Folu Olamiti, said he was not aware of any plot to stop the probe. He, however, confirmed that the National Assembly management has not responded to the commission's letter, although that will not stop the probe. "The investigation continues. And as the chairman said, the commission will let Nigerians know the outcome of our investigations." Another source at the ICPC said that as usual when dealing with uncooperative agencies, "the commission may be forced to write a reminder to the National Assembly. This time, the ICPC will put a definite date before which all the details of the payment slips and vouchers will get to it," the source stated. |
The leadership of the National Assembly has begun efforts to truncate the ongoing probe of its allowances by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), NEXT has learnt. The commission began the probe two weeks ago, following a statement by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, that even as president, could not determine how much our legislators really cost the nation. Mr Obasanjo also said that apart from inflating government budgets to suit their own purposes, each federal legislator cost the nation about N250 million annually. Pressure mounts Nigerians expecting to hear the outcome of the probe may have to wait longer as multiple sources have confirmed that the National Assembly leadership is determined to ensure that the chairman of the ICPC, Emmanuel Ayoola, drops the investigations. "Pressure is being mounted on the ICPC chair to stop the probe. You know what they (the ICPC) are trying to do may spell doom for the country, as it may open all kind of things," a National Assembly source told our reporter. Another source close to Mr Ayoola said, "they (the legislators) are running about trying to stop the inquiry. They are using persons close to him, trying to corner Justice Ayoola into dropping the investigations. You know what the ICPC is trying to do is a system review, it will surely expose them if properly carried out." |
In Nigeria, it's a pity that there is no difference from an alleged case and a convicted one, onces someone is in police net especially if it involves the so called big men!, the person is guilty as charged. Even the courts and Judges in Nigeria are so corrupt that they can be bought over to twist cases in favour of the rich. No rule of law, the law is below some personalities in Nigeria, while the poor and the helpless are used as a scape goat to show how efficient police are. The man accused of killing Bola Ige is walking about freely up till date! I pity those poor souls, that's how they'll be sentenced to jail from a kangaroo trial or even face extra-judicial killing in the hands of the police. |
