Nigeria’s Union Must Be Renegotiated, No Need For Another Election – Tunde Bakare

The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, has said Nigeria does not need another election in 2019.

Delivering his state of the nation address at his church in Lagos, Bakare stressed that what the country needed at a time such as this was a renegotiation of its union.

Bakare’s speech reads in part: “Nigeria does not need an election come 2019, but needs renegotiation of its union.

“Let me reiterate that what Nigeria needs now is not another election but a return to the drawing board to renegotiate our union.

You will recall that, in 2015, I made a similar declaration in the message titled ‘The Gathering Storm and Avoidable Shipwreck: How to Avoid Catastrophic Euroclydon’.

“In that address, I called for restructuring when others were clamouring for elections. Three years later, the majority that was wrong has become the minority, and the minority that was right is becoming the majority, even as restructuring has become the buzzword in our nation.”

Recall that the former running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari had condemned the President for not reacting swiftly to the crisis created by Fulani herdsmen across the country.

he Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign state of Biafra (MASSOB), has alleged that Fulani herdsmen are being used to establish Emirs in places like Owerri, Enugu, Benin, Agatu, Abeokuta and other towns where Federal Government plans to create grazing colonies.

MASSOB made the claim while insisting that Fulani herdsmen and their kinsmen were keen in an agenda to overrun all towns in Southern and Middle belt parts of the country.

In a statement by its leader, Uchenna Madu, the pro-Biafra group also commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State for rejecting to cede any part of the state for the establishment of Cattle colonies.

The statement reads, “We salute the eloquent courageous spirit of Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for opposing the anti peoples federal government policy which only favors the Fulani and their cows.

“Establishing colonial village for Fulani herdsmen and their cows simply means allowing a known enemy to dine, wine and sleep with a hated opponent. The Fulani are parasitic in nature. The Fulani has no ideals, no ambitions such as sensual in character. A Fulani man is a fatalist, spendthrift and a gambler. He is gravely immoral and is seriously diseased that he is a menace to any community to which he seeks to attach himself.

“With the ancestral, religious and tribal orientations of the Fulani, including the nature of their occupational specialisation, it would be difficult and impossible for the Fulani to cohabit with non-Muslim communities mostly the Igbo.

“It will not be farfetched to conclude that the Fulani herdsmen and their kinsmen are pawns in an agenda to overrun all towns in Nigeria, So that we will have emirs in Owerri, Enugu, Benin, Agatu, Wukari, Abeokuta and other towns where Federal government is planning to create grazing reserves colonies for Fulani herdsmen.

“MASSOB also commends the Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, for boldly and openly declaring that Anambra State can never condone Fulani herdsmen’s criminal and terrorist activities. These bold protective steps taken by some Igbo governors are acceptable by MASSOB.

“We also advise current Igbo governors to emulate the infrastructural developing spirit of Anambra State former governor, Mr. Peter Obi on his development stride on educational, economic, transportation, health, sports, agricultural sectors.

“Some other sleeping governors should wake up from their cowardice slumber and follow the fearless footsteps of their counterparts in infrastructural development of their respective States.”

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo to summon the United State of America Ambassadror to Nigier, Stuart Symington, over Doland Trump’s ‘shithole’ slur.
