Christianity Etc › Re: The Nigerian Church Is Losing Its Purpose - By Ayobami Oyalowo (A Must Read!!!!) by mbulela: 9:24am On Nov 16, 2012
rhymz: hahahahah. . . Finally, some christians with brains in their head are begining to tell themselves the truth. . .lol. . I hope the next stage of this "truth revelation" is to question the very foundation of the christian belief itself. That is where lies the real tool of exploitation.
People are here insincerely criticizing the Nigerian church and quoting long pages in the bible to support their rughteuos argument forgetting that the reason it is so easy to exploit people en mass is not realy because they don't read the bible or that they have turned their bible wielding Con Men to semi-Gods but because, the bible itself, is an exploitative book.
The whole concept of the bible is built entirely on exploitation, in fact, the more people are advised to read the bible, the more their chances of spiritual delusions rises cos realy, let's face it, the pastors don't preach anything different from what the bible vaguely says.

Let's be real here, in the real scheme of things, the Nigerian churches are late in this regard, ask Americans that go to those MegaChurches whose models lately habe been the darline of every Nigerian church and their pastors. They build elitists schools too, have pay as you use digital TV stations and so on.
People tend to forget that religion by nature is exploitative. What is faith? Believe it even if it does not exist, you don't neccessarily need to even work towards it. To put it simply; it is an irrational and illogical state of belief.
If I am able to put a lot of people in this kind of belief state, asking them to go poor for my sake will be cupcakes, the main challenge is to get them tamed and mentally numb to ask any question that does not reconcile with their belief-state. How do you achieve this, through vagueness and mental diversions, that's where the bible comes in. It is a tool of deception, treachery, propaganda and perfect mind programming.
If we are going to solve the problems of exploitaton, it will have to be methods, mechanisms and efforts that help or get people to think outside of their belief state, make them bold enough to ask questions about the vague nature of their belieg state, efforts that help them make decisions based on the realistc basis as opposed to their belief state. Until that is done, we will continue to have more millitants and fundamental religious begots who is ready to kill just so that their Daddy Ajibiole and Oldepos can seem right and divine.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Christian faith.
Lumping the Christian faith together with the glutinous appetites of hirelings masquerading as shepherds is a very disingenuous way of approaching the argument. You must accept and recognise that some of us are boldly and unashamedly Christians while also vehemently against the exploitation of the flock by hirelings masked as shepherds. The two are not mutually inclusive.

chamotex: We are selling Vidic? Highly impossible!
these injuries are making SAF have a rethink. he wants a settled back four. If he can't rely on vidic, he will grudgingly cash in.
I am convinced he will analyse the vidic/rio case in the summer.
Rio looks a goner,so that might mean keeping vidic.
he will still get another center back but it will not be a youngster.

While we are at it, i must confess that not all of them have lost track completely. I was at Daystar for a couple of months and i must confess that i rarely heard Sam Adeyemi coarse folks into giving. Dude was busy igniting a fire of social regeneration and revolution through the word than any other thing. The only day i heard him talk about giving on a large scale my heart was warmed. He talked about the church building schools in the bomb blast area in Lagos and a few other projects the church was involved in. He simply asked folks to take a sheet of paper write out an amount you were willing to give. He said he did not want it given at once as he was conscious of the economical realities in view of the recent fuel hike (this was in jan).folks were directed to just write the amount on the sheet without their names and put it into a basket and encouraged to split the amount across 5 months. No coercion, no manipulation, no gyration and no tendency to control. within 5 mins he had finished and moved unto more important matters.
That in my view was giving, God's way. If God cannot provide for his work, then he has seized to be God. If you need to manipulate the people to give, then the reward of giving will never abide.

I was in a church recently and the pastor said you can not rise beyond his blessings. That as far as he blesses is you is how far you can go. I and my partner just looked at each other and burst out laughing. That was pure comedy to me and folks were nodding in agreement. That to me is the hallmark of manipulation, seduction and control. How can your success as a child of God be tied to the pronouncement of one man? Of what use then is Christ's blood?

alextayo: When Jesus fed 5,000 people, he collected the food from a young boy....if it were to be our Nigerian Pastors, they would have conned the boy into giving out the bread as either special offering, seed sowing, tithe or prophet upkeep...promising him a reward that never existed and quoting Matthew 10:41 The person who welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet's reward.
I thought i had heard it all. Which one be this one again? naija una no go kill God.

Niflheim: @Sisi_kill,you are so on point with your story!!!I remember when one of Paul Adefarasin's former assistant pastors wanted to travel to London. He was saving up some cash,he wanted to give Pastor Adefarasin 2 pieces of information that day.So he gave Pastor Adefarasin the 1st info about his saving for a ticket. Adefarasin's reply was, "How can a pastor save money for a ticket!!!What is the congregation for?You are supposed to use their money not yours,no wonder your wife is barren,I am sure it is because god knows how irresponsible you are with money so he doesn't want to bless her yet with a child!!!"...........................meanwhile,the 2nd piece of info that he had wanted to give Adefarasin was that his wife was pregnant. It was this incident that made him finally leave the church!!!
As pessimistic as i am when it comes with the Nigerian church, i struggle to believe this story. It can't be that bad.

but we will need to get a player with more experience than smalling/Jones cos one or both of Rio and Vidic will be gone in the summer

This is how Amaechi spends Rivers money.Meanwhile he is busy deducting money from civil servants salary at will. God is watching these barbarians in 3D.

ypzilanti: Nigerian Justice outsourced to Britain. They will soon start charging us for this.

Soon the headlines will be: Nigerians spend N190 billion yearly on court cases sent to United Kingdom for trial.
At least it will be money well spent. i guess more than that is spent on bribing bent judges in naija and paying to lousy SANs.

If I was Ajudua and co, I will sue him for defamation of character. Non of these guys have ever been found guilty of any crime so far.

This man has explained in clear terms that Access bank is equally fruadulent and broken bOFA laws by granting loans without securities of any kind. Nigeria is just a jungl were rascals like AIG are heads of bank and backed by Aunty Ngozi to emerge CBN governor in future. Every reasonable banker in Nigeria should and must kick against these evil calculating plans. Aig should be investigated.
Who go investigate am? He is the reigning kid on the block. You know the way naija goes? turn by turn. As bad as Uba is, this case has proven that Cosmas is no saint. Why was he hell bent on helping Uba despite all the evidences before him?
If AIG and co were as innocent as they claim and appear to be, they should have refused the loan application in a bid to save their director from an evil they knew. At the heart of this case is greed on all sides.

sentoms: Dont blame Ubah alone. Cosmos took loan from Access bank in his own name " Cosmos Maduka". So Access bank has no business with Ubah. No contract between them. Doctrin of Privity of Contract will apply in this case. ( A third party cannot be sued in a contract case..) . Cosmos is a director in Access bank holds 25%. Chairman Credit commitee, used his office to take d loan. Agreed to take 60% share of. D profit. My fear is Access bank , pray dis doesnt turn bad debt o. Cos shareholders go suffer am. The other day it was Access bank v Ap plc. Greed is the root of all money evil.
It will not. Cosmas has said the sum is just an inconvenience. He is able to offset the bill comfortably. It is just the feeling of being duped that is paining him.

if this isnt corruption at it highest ebb i wonder what is.
jonathan has lost his marble.

we obviously know the guys who will follow 'due process'

bloody hell!
I struggle to understand why folks are surprised? Maybe few of us have been reading BusinessDay. Those guys have been following this thing big time. That power reform na high wired drama with intrigues, back stabbing, corruption and double speak of the highest order. These barbarians just do not care for the masses. See the VP Sambo that does like butter does not melt in his mouth? That guy is not to be trusted. I think cos GEJ has his own hands soiled in other pies, he had to concede this one to his fellow barbarians. As long as the president does not have the political and moral will to do right at all times, he does not have to be a willing participant in corruption at all times for it to thrive. I am a known pessimist but reality is that all the panels in the world will not save the petroleum industry nor the power sector. Our leaders lack the will to bring change. in the net 12months we will be hear expressing shock and surprise at Gencos and Discos contracts that have been cancelled.

What he might do is draft Rooney to the left to accommodate Kagawa.
This Kagawa business is beginning to remind me of Veron. Putting a round peg in a square hole in order to accommodate favourites.
Kagawa will be a failure unles played in the hole behind the no. 9. There is no way around it.

One story from his time at Tottenham sums up the ability and the attitude. Jamie O'Hara, who is now at Wolves, remembers Berbatov being in possession, with his back to him, about 40 yards away. "I was yelling for the ball," O'Hara said. "Berba dropped his shoulder and, without looking, he played a pinpoint pass right to my feet. After training, he said to me: 'I know where you are. You don't have to shout.'"

Berba Love.

Goshen360: Sometimes last month before the United States 2012 election, I woke up and tunned in to watch one of the Christian program/tv. I found Pat Robertson on one of Benny Hinn show at about the end of the program and one thing I heard him (Pat Robertson) talked about is that God told him Mitt Romney will win the U.S 2012 Presidential election. First, I was like, what the heck is this man saying?

Quickly as I listen to him, I ran some scriptural check on his prophesy to see if it aligns with the word of God and I can't but conclude then he is false prophet.

New Living Translation (©2007)
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. Romans 13:1

Today, as Barack Obama is re-elected as the U.S President. How do we interpret what a prophet said "God told him Mitt Romney will win"? Many times I wonder what the body of Christ had turned into.....smh shocked shocked shocked I tried to get the video online but can't get the exact program but got similar video where the Pat Robertson said the same thing he said on Benny Hinn programme.

You seem not to know Pat Robertson? 'God' has always appeared to him before every election assuring him that the Republican candidate will win. It does not matter if Lucifer is the Republican in question. I think old age is taking its toll on the man's brain.

Krucifax: Reports suggest it is very true my friend. However the point you picked on is the one i want to comment on. Nigeria has some really sick people in it,not because of the affair/s. But because of how they keep mentioning God in their conversations.

It's abit like armed robbers praying to God for success and journey mercies to and from a robbery where they go to kill and steal. Some people are just diabolical!!!
With the way they were jamming prayers and blood of Jesus in the sexts, i felt real pity for God himself.
I can understand a man/woman falling into sin but to rub it in God's face points to a loss of conscience. Even non believers in God are not this bad.

pro01: There's nothing surprising here. Most women do worse. The fact that most women don't get caught doesn't make them any better than the tramp in this story.

The only surprising thing about this story is that a Nigerian governor (with the bottomless pit of state power and money at his disposal) could stoop so low to be exchanging chats and 'emoticons' with this thing!

Na wa for these money-miss road people oh. Extremely sexy undergraduates and carefully selected 'imported' models from Brazil and South Africa never finish, na shrivelled married women like this dem dey see? Seems they prefer married women for the sheer perverse thrill of it. Na real wa.
I actually share the same concern with you. Although, i think it is something spiritual. some of these men/women have been cursed. They just enter anything that crosses their paths. If it be married or ugly, same goes. They just knock up females as they go along and have no filter process. I can't understand how a man like a gov will be sleeping with a married woman. in this day and time, he can get girls of any shape and size from any part of the globe within 48hrs. There must be an uncontrollable desire at work. These are the leaders shaping our future.

Not only do they not discourage it, they encourage it, if not openly, then overtly.
Those who do not buy and display the pictures and associated paraphernalia are considered disloyal and unfaithful.

However, I don't approve the rotation of the prize among the genres of literature. The prize should be fixed for any outstanding work from any genre, or it should be spread evenly among the genres each year, even if it negatively affects the prize money.
I support your latter suggestion.
The problem with the former is that it will be difficult to compare a collection of poetry and a children book.
