AjanleKoko: Actually . . . the guy is dead right.
With PDP's overwhelming majority, they can push through an amendment of the constitution to suit their 'vision' for the country.
After all, you all 'voted' for them. They have the 'mandate' of the people. That's the brutal truth, and Nigerians need to wake up to it.

That's the beauty of 'democracy'. I wouldn't lose much sleep over this, frankly speaking. undecided

omosexy1: .

Look at this man talking. Is Cape Town not below sea level, is there no water in barcelona, is Venice not surrounded by water, is Florida not close to the ocean? I am not blaming him for all the previous commotions in Lagos but for christ sake he is the chief executive officer of Lagos state and he has prior knowledge that Lagos is close to the ocean and there would be flood during rainfalls. Rather, they carried out their eye service operations as usual by destroying a few houses and we no hear again. Lagos has a plan just like Abuja, Fashola should return back to that master plan and re-organise Lagos if he thinks he wants to make Lagos a mega-city. Thank God for El-rufai else Abuja would have been a mess. It can be done in Lagos, people will cry in the short-term but be happier later just like Abuja residents are happy now but they previously threatened, they cried, they swore, but they are happy now.
He does not have the guts to do what is needed (due you know the curses El-Rufai is labouring under for all the demolitions he did? Besides that needed in Lagos is even more comprehensive). It takes balls of stell, which i doubt he has.
secondly, Lagosians do not help themselves. Go to Orile road and see how world class drainages on a road still under construction has been destroyed with refuse by traders. The drainage is completely blocked. Soon that road will begin flooding (if it has not already). Will you still blame Fashola for that?
The level of filthiness is Lagos is second to none.If cleanliness is next to Godliness, then Lagos is a Godless city.

With its majority in the National Assembly and control of many of the 36 states of the federation, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could unilaterally amend the 1999 Constitution, Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Sierake Dickson, said Wednesday.

The governor, during a visit to the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, and other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), in Abuja, said the party would not need the opposition to amend the constitution, if it so desires and wondered why the party could not mobilise its members to ensure amendment to the constitution that would allow it achieve its vision for the country.

He warned the party not to allow federal lawmakers from the opposition parties to seize the initiative from PDP.

The governor said: ‘’With our overriding mandate in the National Assembly, and state Houses of Assembly, we can on our own amend the constitution. We are in the majority, but it seems to me that if those of us in PDP don’t guard it jealously, those Nigerians rejected at the polls, will foist their divisive agenda on the people. That will be subversive of the mandate given freely to PDP.’’

According to Section 9 of the 1999 Constitution, the constitution can be amended by two-thirds majority approval of members of either chamber of the National Assembly and supported by the resolution of at least two-thirds of all the 36 state Houses of Assembly.

Out of 109 senators and 360 House members in the National Assembly, PDP has 73 and 242 respectively and controls 23 out of the 36 states of the federation, one short of the required two-thirds majority needed to ratify any constitution amendment.

Dickson, who urged Tukur to first unite the party as nothing would be achieved without unity in the PDP, added: “PDP as it is today, is the biggest in Africa. To whom much is given; much is expected in contemporary Nigerian politics. PDP must protect Nigeria’s unity. All other political parties are interested in weakening the centre and tearing Nigeria’s apart. It is only PDP that has the potential to unify and integrate the unity of this country; all other parties are bent on disintegrating the country.

“We must manage the mandate in such a way that those Nigerians do not set agenda for us through the back door. They must work hard for Nigerians to trust them before their tendencies can become the majority tendency. The only party Nigerians trust now is PDP. So, we must guard this mandate jealously.”

Tukur thanked the governor for his visit and appealed to party chieftains from Bayelsa State to continue to propagate the ideals of the PDP in the state.

‘’I have listened attentively to what they have been telling us about PDP. That’s what we want; support the Federal Government to develop Nigeria to be prosperous,’’ he said.

Kobojunkie: Asset Declaration gives the people the power to contest or question abnormalities that may surface during the term. If a politician declares he is worth 300 million, for instance, and the CCB 'investigates' and 'confirms' it, the people can on taking that info, do their own investigation to further validate/invalidate claims made. Also it is a start in holding those in power accountable.
I am not saying that he should not declare his assets, i am just pointing out that there are more important issues and whether he declares or not, the bazaar continues.

AjanleKoko: Nah. Villa would play. he's not a big center forward, he's fast, tricky, and can play tiki taka or go direct. He can also get into positions very quickly, without dragging center backs with him. He's a lot more difficult to pick up.

Look how Fabregas has been ghosting into good positions, but not picking up the final ball. Villa would have done same, and would be more lethal.
it seems VDB wants to play 2-8-0.

AjanleKoko: Na wa oh.
The English press have taken to wanking all over Pirlo. Not surprising that they have never seen that type of penalty before.
Guilherme Siquera of Granada played exactly the same type of panaka against Barca's Victor Valdes in March. If he did that in England, Man City and Chelsea would have been battling for his signature, at 40 million pounds. However, he plays in Spain (and is still stuck in Granada embarassed) unfortunately.
They have all seen that type of penalty before. The difference is the occasion. Having the guts to do it in the quarters of the Euros is different from doing it in a league match where you have nothing at stake. I guess there are lads here who have done it in their back gardens(whether it came off or not is another matter).

Watching this Spanish team is as pleasant as self-circumcision.
With all the technical ability and possession they possess, the lack of penetration is infuriating.
The team severely misses someone like Villa. A striker who for all the tika-tika,brings some incisive penetration to the game.
Anyway with Torres and Llorente on the bench, Villa might have been on the bench too.

Rooney is a top player.

I was of the same opinion until I went to see him live. He is difficult to stop on the pitch whenever he glides inside of a defender.
I have seen him live too. While he is good, he is nothing near as good as the hype.

What difference will asset declaration make sef?
It is not like any of these barbarians in power are living within their means.
You have elected MPs stealing 620million dollars in cash and calling it a trial from God.
Same guy is receiving well wishers in his house and you are people are talking about asset declaration.
I don't care whether he declares his assets or not. I am more worried by the fact that the guy is inept and has been promoted far above his ability.
With this man at the helm, we seem doomed.

Rooney has always been a slightly above average footballer.
Just a one eyed king in a land of the blind.
How anyone can call Wayne a world class footballer is something a fraud that has gone unchecked for too long.
