The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday has said he does not trust politicians. Speaking in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, during a two-day interdenominational prayer. He said; “I don’t trust politicians. Politicians are liars. They don’t fulfil most of their promises. A politician can tell you that they will give all of you (students) chicken each, which we all know it is impossible.” The RCCG General Overseer, however, asked Nigerians to stop worrying themselves over who would emerge winner in the next general elections. “God has already planned who will be the President of Nigeria. God has already planned that before we were born. God is not like human beings who doubt what is to be done. He has plan for everything.” |

The reconciliatory visit of President Goodluck Jonathan was a tensed one as former president, Olusegun Obasanjo put him on the hot seat in his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta on Monday, Leadership exclusively gathered. Flanked by the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and the founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, who were there as witnesses to the meeting on request of the Egba chief, asked him questions which he had earlier thrown up in his correspondence to Jonathan. Questions from Obasanjo mother of all meetings with Jonathan include the five highlighted below. The former president asked him to confirm if he did not agree to only run for one term, his slow action to tackling the Boko Haram menace when it was just budding despite warning, why he gave licence to Tompolo and Asari Dokubo to import arms under the names of their private companies and other issues. He queried, "Tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, (1) Did you agree to run for only one term or not? (2) What did you tell me was your reason for not going after Boko Haram insurgents even when I told you this will boomerang? (3) What happened to Nigeria's external reserve and Sovereign Wealth Fund? (4) Did you give licence to Niger Delta militants (Dokubo and Tompolo) to import arms in the name of their privately owned companies? If so, for what reason? (5) Did you not get correspondence from the United States consulate that a certain citizen named Buruji Kashamu is indicted for drug trafficking? Why did you appoint the same Kashamu as South West leader of PDP rather than hand him over to the US? And did the PDP give automatic Senate ticket to a wanted and convicted drug baron? Jonathan could not utter a word and the clergy men at the meeting were both utterly shocked. Jonathan has a hidden agenda , God will not let him destroy Nigeria!!!.. |
A Jimi Agbaje-led Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State would embark on mass retrenchment of civil servants in the state, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state has said. In a statement issued in Lagos, Sunday, the APC said that a lot of civil servants in the state should “kiss their jobs goodbye” if the PDP takes over government in the February gubernatorial election. But in a swift response to the claims, Mr. Agbaje, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, said that the APC’s “fears are illogical.” ‘Goodbye to LASTMA, KAI, LAWMA’ Joe Igbokwe, the Lagos State APC Publicity Secretary, said that Mr. Agbaje would embark on a mass sack of civil servants just like Ayo Fayose, the Ekiti State Governor, who sacked over 300 employees of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Authority, the equivalent of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA. “Just as the Fayose administration embarked on the mass sacking of over 800 members of the Peace Corps and other employees of the state, Agbaje would go after employees of all state parastatals,” Mr. Igbokwe said. “Employees of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) and over 60 other agencies would be sent into the labour market if the PDP took over.” The APC said that a month after Mr. Fayose became governor of Ekiti State, he slashed the salaries of the state’s street sweepers from N10, 000 to N5, 000. “At a time when the rate of unemployment in the country is high, workers on the payroll of the Lagos State Government cannot risk losing their means of livelihood by voting for a party that is on a revenge mission having been rejected by the people of Lagos in four different elections.” The Lagos APC also urged the civil servants not to forget that while many states and the Federal Government had failed to pay the December salaries, the Lagos State Government paid early, and also added a 15 per cent salary bonus. ‘Illogical’ claims Responding to the claims, Felix Oboagwina, spokesperson for Mr. Agbaje’ campaign, said the APC was “turning logic on its head.” Mr. Oboagwina told PREMIUM TIMES that the situation in Lagos and Ekiti states presented two “completely different” scenarios. “They are obviously comparing two incomparable states,” said Mr. Oboagwina, Director of Media and Publicity for Mr. Agbaje. “Lagos is a buoyant economy with a robust IGR. Instead of scrapping state-run agencies, the government of Mr. Jimi Agbaje will actually explore and exploit all avenues to create more jobs for the teeming masses of unemployed youths suffering under the APC government.” Mr. Oboagwina said that the reality of fiscal wastage in Lagos was not state-run agencies, but drainpipes deliberately created into the system through political patronages to friends and acolytes of the powers that be. “Actually, APC is accusing people of what it is guilty of,” Mr. Oboagwina said. “Lagos State Government under APC and its antecedents have been guilty of stifling private initiative that could create avenues for employment, with the government’s negative and unfriendly attitude to entrepreneurship, double taxation, demolition of houses and shops, demolition and handing over of traditional markets to cutthroat developers, and the like. “Today, Lagos is low on the international business-friendly index for world cities, thanks to APC. “Every state owes itself a duty to block drainpipes. And Ekiti has done what the Governor feels is best for his state at this moment. But it is not a model we shall likely apply in Lagos.” Source: www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/174724-lagos-apc-pdp-disagree-scrapping-lastma-kai-lawma.html |
JONATHAN: The Only Nigeria President Without Accurate ANSWERS! Ask Jonathan about Power failure, he would say Nigerians are not patient enough. Ask Jonathan about stolen crude oil, he would say the pirates are invisible. Ask Jonathan about the missing $20 Billion, he would say maybe Sanusi made mistake. Ask Jonathan about Nigeria unemployment rate, he would say Nigeria youths should be blamed. Ask Jonathan about Sure P mismanagement, he would say State governments are economical with the truth. Ask Jonathan about #117 Billion 2nd Niger Bridge, he would say the opposition are noise makers. Ask Jonathan about Chibok Girls, he would say their where about is unknown. Ask Jonathan about those behind insurgency, he would tell you to ask the opposition party. Now ask him about 2015 election, he would say he is the best candidate that has answers to Nigeria problems. Where is the best in Clueless Goodluck Ebele Jonathan? He is a man of flippancy character. Say No to Jonathan, vote him out of Aso Rock. |

Some angry youth on Saturday attacked and set fire on a campaign bus branded with President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign posters at Zololo junction, Bauchi road in Jos, Jos north Local Government area of Plateau state. The bus was on fire at the time of filling this report. However, witnesses said the driver of the bus escaped unhurt. It is not clear what led to the attack. Police could not be immediately reached for comments. A witness whose car was also torched by the rampaging mob, said another Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-branded car was also set alight. The source, who only identified herself as Mrs. Rose, told PREMIUM TIMES that her Honda car was also smashed by the protesting youth. She said the road leading to the area was blocked by the rampaging youth, as they bashed other vehicles plying the route. According to her, the incident occurred in the presence of members of the Special Taskforce on Jos crisis STF, who could not help stop the action of the youth. The incident has generated tension within the state capital Jos, as residents rushed home for safety. I spent about an hour this afternoon listening to the President in my state and, for almost the same period, I saw a very angry president. I saw a president who was recriminating about people criticizing his job performance and was blaming all those who ruled before him, forgetting that he had been on this job for six years. “And he kept saying that, ‘They say we don’t have a plan.’? But for 25 minutes, he did not reveal a plan on power; he did not reveal a plan on security; he did not reveal a plan on corruption. “Now, after six years, without being able to articulate what he is doing and what he will do and he keeps blaming everybody, forgetting that he is the Commander-in- Chief, if the kitchen is too hot, as it is becoming of late, you must get out of the kitchen.” .... AND THEN A FRIEND SAID The first time I heard that President Goodluck Jonathan would be coming to Lagos for his reelection campaign, I was happy because I thought his coming to Lagos would be to tell me how he intended to solve the many problems bedeviling the progress Nigerians. Today happened to be the dat I gave waited for, I was eager to return to the office early in other to watch my President campaign for second time but alas, I was disappointed like before as MY PRESIDENT could not tell me why I should Reelect him rather, he was sending tantrum at Buhari, APC and his perceived enemies. MY PRESIDENT rather than tell me how he intend to KILL corruption, he was telling me how he met with heads of anti corruption agencies. Rather than tell me why petrol price has refused to come down despite fall in oil price in international market, he was telling me how he slept in filling station looking for fuel. Instead of telling me how he will fight BOKO Haram, he was saying how past leaders never equipped the army. Instead of telling me how Nigeria will come out of the quagmire we found our selves due to falling oil price, he is telling me how MEND who he once defended wanted to assassinate him. Mr president sir, we knew there were problems that was why we elected you in 2011 to solve the problems but, now you passing the blames again, when will you stop the blame game and address the problems head on. Once again, you goofed at your Lagos rally, you failed to convince me why I should vote you once again Thanks Mc 4larin |

Despite his so-called deadline to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to correct “anomalies” recorded at the Nasarawa governorship primary, it has emerged that the immediate past Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, is the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the February 2015 election in the state. Sunday Independent quoted sources at the APGA headquarters in Abuja as sayin Maku’s name was submitted before the December 26 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to contest the governorship position on the APGA platform. Other candidates submitted by the party as governorship candidates are the APGA National Secretary, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, who is gunning for the Zamfara governorship position, former Minister of Interior, Emmanuel Iheanacho, for Imo State, Senator Anthony Agbo, Ebonyi State, and the former Managing Director of Diamond Bank, Alex Otti, Abia State. Meanwhile the names of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) submitted to INEC are Akinwumi Ambode, for Lagos State, Nasir el-Rufai, Kaduna, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun, Dakuku Peterside, Rivers, Aminu Bello Masari, Katsina, and Tanko Al-Makura for Nasarawa. The Labour Party has also submitted the name of Adebayo Aloa-Akala as its candidate for Oyo State, and Tonye Princewill as candidate for Rivers. The Progressives Peoples Alliance also sent the name of Chikwem Udensi as its candidate for Abia State. Former Minister of Police Affairs, Maina Waziri, emerged as the PDP governorship candidate for Yobe State, while former Minister of State for Niger Delta, Darius Isiaku, had his name sent to INEC as PDP candidate in Yobe state dailypost.ng/2014/12/28/shocker-makus-name-already-submitted-inec-nasarawa-apga-candidate/ |
Six weeks ago, I was in Benin City to support a friend who was getting married that weekend. We drove down to Ugbowo campus of UNIBEN, laughing along the way at bini guys and the way they pronounce certain words. We got stuck in an unusual traffic jam and my friend who was driving, took the opportunity to reply his pings, pausing only to turn up the radio when Wizkid’s “In My Bed” came on. A few seconds later, he increased the volume even more. I accepted that since I was in his car, I had to endure his choice of songs. So I listened, trying to figure out why he was interested in that particular song. Though the melody has this jingle-catchy feel, everything else about the song is horrible. The mix brought to mind those days when Nigerian studio engineers were still learning how to mix. The overall instrumentation is noisy with the kick pitched high, like a headache. Played on F-sharp minor, which is a predominantly high key for most people, but the struggling syncopation over a lazy bass line weighs the whole song relentlessly down. My friends know that I have a crazy physical reaction to songs, mostly when I love it. In this instance, I was gasping for breath by the end, as if the song was trying to strangle me. I thanked God I was still alive when it finally ended. But as the traffic lingered my friend put down his phone, this time to surf through radio stations. Again, he landed on “In My Bed.” That was when I really got scared, thinking I was going to pass out. This year, we have had a mix of both good and bad songs. Wizkid’s “In my bed” is one of those ear worms you don’t want to get into your brain space for three minutes and 46 seconds. Those who will say “WTF” is Etcetera saying? I want you to note that I have a zero interest in persuading you to agree with me. If you enjoy “In My Bed,” I won’t dream of changing your mind. I heard it again last weekend at my manager’s party, and for a second, I thought it was some kind of pain killer advert, because the radio station where I have my show, currently runs an ad that sounds like a more palatable version of it. My Christmas day was almost ruined when a caller on my show requested “In My Bed” for his girlfriend. Because Christmas only comes once in a year, I decided to grant her wish, but as soon as I clicked play, I had the sort of physical reaction associated with someone suddenly coming in contact with bees. And before my mind could process what was happening, I hammered the stop button quickly, arrgh! If you are one of those who regard this song as a standard club track with all the necessary “thumps and bumps” and you are angry at my loathing of it, it doesn’t bother me at all. I have fantasised for weeks about punching this song in the eye, but unfortunately, the song doesn’t have a head, talkless of eyes. How can one song cram in so many failed decisions per minute? One minute you are trying to woo a girl into your bed, the next, you are saying Tinubu eleniyan, Fashola eleniyan. What has Tinubu eleniyan got to do with getting her in your bed? Are you pimping her to Tinubu or to the other names you mentioned in the song? There’s nothing wrong with praise singing if you do it right. “In My Bed” sounds like a guy trying so hard to get it right and therefore getting it all wrong. You packed in the same overused lines “Anywhere I go all my people show me love / And people trying to bad mouth me. Don’t you think by now, we’ve heard enough of your sniffy little screech of being chased by enemies? It is boring already. Even a connoisseur of pop trash won’t find anything to like about a song like this. “In My Bed” is one song you don’t need to know the lyrics, you may want to shield your friends and loved ones from its strange concoction. It is indeed the worse song of this or any other year. Oh sorry, this year is not over yet, so it’s theoretically possible a worse contender could emerge, but I doubt it. Let’s put it this way, if placed in comparison with any of Artquake’s songs, it would still be a distant second. I can’t remember the last time there was a hit song this whack. |

According to new research from the Legatum Institute, which last week ranked prosperity in 38 African countries around criteria ranging from economics to education to health, the title belongs to Botswana, the diamond-rich country in southern Africa. As well as posting a relatively high per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $15,176, Botswana also fared well in terms of governance, education and personal freedom. This is the third year in a row that Botswana has topped the index. In contrast, the Central African Republic was the lowest ranked country on the continent. The country, which has a per capita GDP of $584, has seen increasing violence since the end of 2012, and only 21.5% of the population have access to sanitation according to the prosperity index. 10. A major crisis is brewing within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following fallout from party primaries. Across the country, many aggrieved aspirants who were short-changed in the process are crying foul and threatening to defect en-masse to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) party in order to frustrate the ambition of imposed candidates. Checks across the states reveal that many of the governorship aspirants in state like Rivers, Adamawa, Enugu, Taraba, Sokoto and Kebbi States have vowed to give a bad blow to the ambitions of so-called anointed candidates and work against the success of the party in favor of the opposition party wherever they can do so. One of the aggrieved aspirant today in Abuja appeared on a Radio Program (Ray Power), the apparent, a former deputy governor in Sokoto state, Mukhtar Shehu Shagari said that the result declared in the state was written by somebody and that no primary election was conducted. "I personally went to meet with the election committee and told them that with the situation on ground election cannot hold because delegates were allowed to enter the venue and security situation was not encouraging and I told them to postpone the election, not only that I even wrote it and handed it over to them but they ignored me. Now they have announced the result written by one person and said that I had just only one vote out of 984 delegates while the imposed aspirant got 983 ". Mr. Shagari has asked the party to rescind its decision and re-conduct a fresh election for all the aspirants or deal with the consequences. "Therefore I wish to call on the national leadership of our party (PDP) to take note that there was no gubernatorial primary election for Sokoto PDP, disband the electoral committee which by the attitude of its chairman, cannot guarantee a free and fair conduct of the primary election. My appeal to the leadership of our great party, the PDP is to formally and immediately set up an unbiased Electoral Committee made up of credible men and women of proven integrity to conduct the Gubernatorial primaries for Sokoto state within the shortest possible time.”, Shagari stated. Shagari shocked listeners when he said that APC was an organized party in the state coupled with the likes of its candidate, Aminu Tambuwal. He maintained that if PDP fails to field him as the flag bearer the party will lose in the state. Though Shagari did not reveal his next line of action but a reliable source within the party said that he has perfected his plan to pitch his tent with the APC. In Rivers State 15 aspirants alleged that their names were deleted from the list of contestants for the state governorship primaries, leaving only Nyesom Wike, a former education minister imposed on the state PDP by the first lady, Patience Jonathan. The aggrieved aspirants recently held a joint press briefing asking for outright cancellation of the purported governorship primary. According to a reliable source close to the aspirants, many of them have perfected plan to work for the emergence of APC candidate in the general election. In Taraba State where the party moved the governorship primary for the state to Abuja to enable the fraudulent installation of a candidate favored by billionaire and former army general, Theophilus Danjuma, the party reportedly sold the governorship slot to General Danjuma, who selected Samuel Ortom-Darius Ishyaku, a former Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs to get the ticket. In Enugu State, three candidates have emerged in a bitterly contested primary, they include Senator Ayogu Eze, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Professor Onyeke O. Onyeke, all from Enugu North senatorial zone where the governorship slot had been zoned by the party. Crisis started in the state when the Electoral Panel arrived Enugu from Abuja with a different list of delegates which was reportedly handed to them by the National Secretariat of the party. The bizarre occurrence forced all other the aspirants to conduct parallel elections in their respective constituencies and declared themselves winner. Feelers from the state indicated that in the next few weeks some of the aggrieved aspirants will move en mass with their supporters to the opposition party. In Lagos, former Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro has dragged the party to the court over the shoddy conduct of the gubernatorial primary in the state and continued to threaten fire and brimstone. The Lagos governorship primary had a dubious distinction of producing more votes than the number of the delegates at the convention that produced newcomer Jimi Agbaje as governorship candidate. In Oyo state where a former Senate leader, Teslim Folarin emerged as the PDP party flag bearer, many aggrieved candidates said elections did not take place at all. The disagreement has forced a former governor of the state, Alao Akala to move to the Labour Party in protest against the manipulation that characterized the exercise, others took the party to court to get a cancellation of the exercise. Adamawa State primary which later held in Abuja where the former chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu emerged as the winner continues to feed discontent in the party. A group of aspirants led by the incumbent governor of the State, Bala Ngilari, met and decided to suspend Ribadu from the party at the state level. With the the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the PDP is jittery that the APC stands to reap from its internal crisis and disaffection of many party aspirants schemed out its primaries
