If Ben Murray-Bruce, the former CEO of Silver Bird T.V
and Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial
district would have his way, each youth corps member
will receive N500,000 capital to start any business of
their choice once they finish with the one-year
compulsory service under the National Youth Service
Corps (NYSC). He described it as a way to create
jobs.

“To provide jobs, Youth Corpers should be taught
entrepreneurial skills for a year then be given 500k
each to start a biz when they pass out.

“Government should provide the 500k to a commercial
bank for release to the Youth Corper only to pay for
business set up costs.

“We must wean our youths of this idea that they are
job seekers only. They can be job creators if the state
trains and equips them,” Murray-Bruce wrote on
Twitter.

The Senator also asked that the education system be
overhauled to teach entrepreneurial skills from
secondary school to university.

“Company registration must be simplified and the cost
drastically reduced. Nigerian youths should be able to
register a biz [business]with 10k [N10,000] only.

“By the time a youth leaves Secondary School, he
should have been taught how to register a company
and the basics of entrepreneurship.

“If we prepare youths for entrepreneurship right from
secondary to university and train them for 1 year
during NYSC they’ll develop Nigeria,” he noted.

Hello nairalanders, please I seek your opinion on this issue:

I am the general secretary of the youth of my church in the whole of Lagos State. We all know this will come with a lot of temptations and all

Last week, we just held a programme and youths were there to discuss issues about relationship and marriage. I made some presentations which people commented they liked.

After the programme, there is this girl that has been sending me different sms, disturbing me with calls on how she has been seeing me in her dreams, that I'm her dream man. and she can't move on unless she has me. I just broke up with my girlfriend thou

I'm scared this is a setup somewhat or temptation....

Pls, I need yout candid opinion on this matter

Thanks

PoliticsThe Northern Mafia Ganged Up Against Tinubu With Buhari's Tacit Support: by Mc4larin(op): 10:14pm On Jun 11, 2015
Not very long ago i made a post where i revealed that Buhari and his northern elders gangsters are planning to payback Tinubu and OBJ in their own coins for what they did to their sons(Ribadu and Buhari). They deliberately played along with Tinubu and OBJ during their power game with GEJ. At some point it looked like What Tinubu want Tinubu gets.

He was seen as the real king maker and Alfa and Omega. He made the Hausa/Fulani look silly and stupid. He was commanding Buhari like his house boy and treated him like
his puppet. While these was going on, the Northern Mafia were plotting how to deal with Tinubu mercilessly and destroy him and OBJ for good. They decided to wait
after getting the power then they will go for a kill. Some of the plans were for Buhari to Quit APC and revive CPC and merged with other smaller parties and with the option
working with PDP since PDP is still controlled by the Northern retired military juntas like IBB, DANJUMA,
ABDUSALAM. These men it is understood have personal scores to settle with OBJ. Now the stage is set for the actors to enter the stage to perform for the Nigerian
audiences.....

PoliticsSaraki Rules Senators Out Of Order by Mc4larin(op): 4:44pm On Jun 11, 2015
Senators who raised points of order in an attempt to
question Tuesday ’ s election of the Senate President
were ruled out of order during the first plenary of the
Eighth Senate yesterday .
After the inauguration of about 28 mostly All
Progressives Congress (APC) senators, the
inaugurated senators filed to shake hands with
Senator Bukola Saraki , who presided over the
plenary – his fisrt as Senate President.
But Senator Oluremi Tinubu did not shake his hand
when he offered a handshake .
She instead took a respectful bow and moved on .
Senator Kabiru Marafa (Zamfara State ) raised the
order of privilege , but Saraki ruled him out of order .
Marafa said: “ June 9 , 2015 was slated for the
inauguration of the National Assembly . Mr .
President, who is the head of the government and the
leader of the most populous party in West Africa and
the party that controls the majority of this Senate , I
and all the members of APC were summoned to a
meeting with Mr . President through a well- signed
and delivered message to all members - elect of the
APC .
“ Mr . President, while I was away and a lot of other
members of this Senate , especially of APC extraction
attending a meeting with Mr . President, this Senate
went ahead to commence the process of
inauguration , thereby infringing on my rights and
privileges as enshrined in the Constitution of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria by disenfranchising me
and my colleagues from participating in the election
of the Presiding Officers of this Senate .
More strange is the news item that the Senate was
inaugurated with 57 members and the 51 Senators -
elect absent .
“ The word absent portrayed me and many of my
colleagues as some kind of irresponsible members of
this hallowed chambers to absent ourselves from an
event that was well- announced , well publicised that
everybody was expected to attend with his spouse ,
well- wishers and constituents .
“ That singular act also caused an unwarranted
embarrassment and a lot of other members here , our
families that felt embarrassed by the announcement
that I was absent during the inauguration of this
National Assembly .
“ Mr . President, I want to put it on record that after
being sworn in today, I was handed over the Senate
Standing Orders 2015 as amended . Mr . President, I
want to say that as an active member of the 7 th
National Assembly , I cannot recall when the Senate
Standing Orders were amended or tabled before this
hallowed chambers for any amendments or
corrections . I think it is worthy of notice that this act
was perpetrated and I think Senate should call for a
full investigation of what happened and where this
document emanated. ”
Saraki ruled that since Marafa came under Order 15
and Order 43 , “I am sure you read both and in reading
it Orders 15 and 43 came out and said categorically
that you must have previous discussion with the
President of the Senate and I think to the best of my
recollection and yours, this did not happen . Based on
that, I think I have to rule you out of order . ”
Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central )
who was one of Saraki ’ s loyalists , said that those
who went to meet President Buhari were on their
own .
He cited Section 64 ( 3) , which provides that the
President and Commander- in- Chief of the Armed
Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , is
empowered to order the proclamation of the Senate .
Goje noted: “ What happened yesterday was in
compliance with that Constitutional provision. Not
only that, yesterday in this hallowed chambers the
Clerk of the National Assembly read a letter written
and signed by Mr . President himself .
“ So for anybody to now say this hallowed chamber
should ignore that constitutional provision, which
was backed up by a letter from Mr . President, I think
it is for that person to say that we should disobey the
Constitution and disobey Mr . President.
“ Therefore, let it be on record that whoever decided
to go for another meeting is on his own . ”
Saraki ruled that since Goje “came under the order of
the Constitution , which is in line with what is in the
constitution , so the Order is sustained . ”
Gemade again raised a matter of privilege that he
was not allowed to participate in the election of the
Senate President , but Saraki also ruled him out of
order on the ground that the matter had already been
addressed .
Before the end of the plenary, 28 Senators , mostly
APC lawmakers, were inaugurated in line with
constitutional provision.
Also yesterday , the Senate adopted a motion to write
President Muhammadu Buhari to inform him that the
presiding officers of the Eighth National Assembly
had been elected .
The motion was raised by Deputy Senate President
Ike Ekweremadu .
The motion , which was unanimously adopted , said :
“ That a message be sent to President and C - in- C
informing him that the Presiding Officers of the Eighth
National Assembly of the Senate have been elected
as follows :
1 . Senator Bukola Abubakar Saraki , Senate President
2 . Senator Ike Ekweremadu , Deputy Senate
President
II . “That a congratulatory message be sent to the
Hon . Speaker and Deputy Speaker on their election .
iii. That a message be sent to the following bodies ,
informing them that a quorum of the Senate of the
Eighth National Assembly has assembled and ready
to receive any communication”
Ekweremadu listed the bodies to include African
Union (AU ) , Commonwealth Parliamentary
Association (CPA ) , Inter - Parliamentary Union (IPU ) ,
Economic Community of West African States
( ECOWAS ) , Pan African Parliament and Association
of Senate, Shoora and Equivalent Council in Africa
and the Arab World (ASSECAA ) .

PoliticsRow Over Ikorodu Monarch ’ S Selection Deepens by Mc4larin(op): 12:40pm On Jun 10, 2015
Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has been
asked not to present staff of office to the new
Ayangburen of Ikorodu , Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi.
Some aggrieved aspirants are claiming that
Shotobi’ s selection did not follow due process .
In a June 3 letter to Ambode, Prince Tajudeen Odofin
and Chief Joseph Aluko said Shotobi should revert to
the Odofinship chieftaincy title he was holding before
his purported selection .
The petition was copied to the Chairman, Lagos State
Council of Obas and Chiefs ; Akarigbo of Remoland,
Oba Adeniyi Sonariwo ; Ranodu of Imota , Oba Ajibade
Agoro; Oba of Igbogbo , Johnson Fatola Adeboruwa ;
Olubeshe of Ibeshe , Oba Richard Ogunsanya ; Lagos
State Commissioner for Local Government and
Chieftaincy Affairs: Attorney - General and
Commissioner for Justice ; Executive Secretary,
Ikorodu Local Government; Secretary, Chieftaincy
Committee of Ikorodu ; Permanent Secretary, Ministry
of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs , and
Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Justice .
The petitioners noted that since the creation of
Ikorodu , an Odofin has never been made Oba and
challenged Shotobi and the kingmakers to cite a
precedent . They maintained that the process adopted
by the kingmakers was alien to the Oba and Chiefs
Law of Lagos State .
The petitioners listed 17 reasons why Shotobi cannot
be Ayangburen .
They said the May 22 ruling of Justice Akintunde
Savage of Ikorodu High Court did not pronounce him
the new Ayangburen but only stated that “ the
Adegorushen branch of Lasunwon Ruling House has
the right to present the names of candidates for the
stool of obaship” .
The law , they argued , was not allowed to take its
course as there were two suits on the Obaship of the
town and Shotobi’ s selection . The cases , according
to them, include the appeal served on Monday, May
25 , 2015 in suit number IKD / 454/GCM /2014 and a
sister case of allegation of fraud against Shotobi in
suit number IKD /57 /2007 .
The petitioners claimed that as Odofin , “ Shotobi
witnessed the burial rites of the late Ayangburen ” ,
adding : “This is a sacrilege . “As the Odofin, he has
performed the traditional rites of lighting the Ofufu ; is
he going to light another which is sacred ?” they
asked.
They alleged that Shotobi refused to resign as Odofin
as instructed by a committee set up in November
2014 by the Council of Obas and Chiefs Ikorodu
Division , before vying for the stool .
“ It is also an established fact that he was never
selected from the general Lasunwon Ruling House,
“ hence he does not have the nomination and backing
of the whole house ” .
“ The same Prince Shotobi Kabiru Adewale is one of
the kingmakers in which case , he did not resign his
position when they were constituted in December
2014 , hence he cannot be a judge in his own case . It
will be deemed under the law that he influenced the
decision of the kingmakers , ” the petitioners claimed .
The selection, said they cannot stund because the
Oluwo , who is he head of Osugbo fraternity
( kingmakers ) had distanced himself from the
exercise as “he was never invited nor informed by
other kingmakers during the selection process ” .
The process of authorising the Oba - elect was not
followed as it did not pass through the monthly
meeting of the Lagos Council of Obas and Chiefs
usually held on the last Thursday of every month , the
petitioners added .
They said : “ The Council of Obas and Chiefs Ikorodu
Judicial Division did not preside or ratify Shotobi ’ s
selection . To the best of our knowledge, the executive
process was also boycotted as we have no record to
that effect ” .

Music/RadioThe Death Of Good Music In Naija by Mc4larin(op): 9:48am On May 26, 2015
I don’t know whether it’s my ears or something, but the
kind of crappy songs that has been oozing out these past
years are highly questionable. I see most of all these
songs lacking depth, lyrical contents, creative melody
and professionalism. And the most surprising thing they
top charts and carry numerous awards.
I want to believe there could some reasons why the
Nigerian ears embrace such mediocrity. I remember those
years of African Queen by 2face, Olufunmi,
Runaway,Table for 2 by Stylpus, Happy Day by Paul IK
Dairo and a host of others. Those songs could stand the
test of time, what most people call evergreen songs.
These days if you don’t sing in pidgin language your song
will not push. What a mess!!. An embarrassment to
intellectual embodiment.
Just as we needed change in governance I strongly
believe that change is needed in the Music Industry.
These days any Tom, Dick and Adamu can just put words
together, go to some crappy studio record shit and it
could be a hit. Deafen our ears with noise, what most
people call “Pangolo Songs.” Sometimes when I am
driving and I put on the radio, I am forced to turn it off.
I fear for kids who learn so many crappy pidgin, vulgar
words from those crappy songs. Many dont know that all
these have some adverse effects on our kids, it’s rather
unfortunate. Something must be done about this.
We need good music of global standard. Music that
portrays professionalism, cultural values, creativity and
depth. I believe the wind of change blowing in the polity
will extend to the music scene. God help us!!
