Anointing and Politics

I am not somebody who likes to come in the open to talk about politics because there are too many views and opinions flying around. So, I always keep my opinion to myself and still I am going to do that. This post is not to say my choice aspirant but to talk to Christian friends on this space.

I heard of the Tinubu Shettima ticket and I have gotten so many reactions from our brethren asking if we don't have capable Christians that can be selected as the vice president, looking at it as a slap on the family of God.

This is my opinion on this: I believe we have many intelligent and capable Christians that can be picked as presidential or vice presidential candidates of this great country, but I want us to know that politics is beyond religion and it is not something we can force religion into.

If we want a leader, then we can be talking about Christian brothers and sisters. They are well trained to be very good ambassadors of the church anywhere they are. I also don't want us to forget that we have several Christian brothers and sisters in politics and in positions who are doing nothing to put an end to the many issues happening in this country.

Now I have this to say, what we are talking about here is politics not leadership and in politics, they look for who is very popular that can ascertain their victory and not somebody who is only intelligent.

We Christians are the problems of ourselves as far as politics is concerned. How many of our brethren that are in positions today got there by popularity and influence?. We have intelligent but not popular Christians in positions. They got there by the many prayers of favour and impartation they received from church. These actually opened doors of favour and attraction to them. So, having them in positions does not mean that they worked hard to be there. Many of this people are not known in their local government area just because they are not totally involved in politics but grace has always worked in their favour. That is why they celebrate the work of the anointing because they know they don't merit the positions by the level of their popularity. In politics, your ability to generate votes establishes your relevance.

If we feel Tinubu Shittema is to dare us, then let us test our popularity in the political space by not voting them. So the noise should stop.

If they ask some of us if we know the current Vice President before now, we will say no. Some started knowing him when he became the Attorney General of Lagos state. But there are names they will mention even from the 80s and we can tell a lot about what they have done in the political space. There are picture evidences. These Muslim guys always position themselves for political offices, they work hard to gain access to the heart of people, they build from grassroots. They don't go into hiding when it is tough they keep building name for themselves and work tirelessly to be known by the people in their locality and beyond.

The Church needs to start telling people to be truly involved in politics and stop waiting for anointing for favour of selection. We are using anointing, those other people are implementing strategies to position themselves to the heart of people.

Vice President Osinbajo is a very intelligent and a good representation of the church but we all know he got there by divine favour and God used somebody who has built for himself a name in the political space. So, it was his slot he sacrificed for him. It was not because Osinbajo has done anything deep in political space...

I think it is high time we started anointing them for favour and advise them to go get deeper in politics and stop waiting for just anointing to be picked by people. They should start doing things gradually from where they are.

Tinubu picked Shettima because of his popularity in the north so they can win the election. You can be intelligent and still be famous in the political space, don't just be intelligent and hide yourself.

Christians are shinning stars and we should stop hiding ourselves as if all we depend on is just the anointing for favour to be put in a position. Get into the business of politics and be seriously involved. Stop this "they just called me and the oil did the work". The place of popularity is different from the place of favour

Anointing is working for favour but I will advise you also work hard as a politician.

We can have Christian leaders who are still very political. This is a slap on us because we are not popular in the politics.

Don't ask me about Osinbajo, he got there with the influence of somebody who was political and a lord in the game of politics. We Christians want fathers in faith but we don't want political fathers/mentors who are ahead to lead us through the journey. That is why we keep messing ourselves up all the time.

Let Pastors encourage our people to get deeply involved in politics while we engage in prayers for them. Don't just be laying hands and pouring anointing for favour on them, let them get actively involved and still anoint them to find favour with men.

Tinubu wants to win and he picked a popular Muslim among the people who really go all out to do the voting. There are many Christians in the North. Are they that influential? Can their name win an election?

I leave you with this, please let's not keep talking as if we already know APC will continue ruling us. Our reactions make it look as if Tinubu is the most capable one among all the aspirants, we are not just comfortable with the choice of a Muslim vice president. If we as Christians are not happy with APC, we have other parties whose candidates are Christians. And let's not vote out of bias, let's be sure the Christian is a sincere one and a good ambassador of the church who has the capacity to lead and give us the Nigeria we desire.

We have so many unserious Christians in politics and they can't win any election. Some of them are not even good representatives of the church.

I will vote whoever will be a blessing to the country, reinstall peace in the country and respect my religion.

If you borrow money from a Nigerian bank, you put down a collatera. If you don't pay up, the bank takes over the collatera. If you borrow money to buy an infrastructure from China, if you refuse to pay back, I think China deserves to take over the infrastructure.

If however you as a Nigerian has another alternative, I think you should bring itto the table. The Sukuk fund that Buhari borrowed at zero interest and no collatera the other time, you people said Buhari and the Arab world want to Islamize Nigeria. Now go and bring your own free fund from anywhere, we will take it, thank you and pray for you just as we are doing for Abacha that has been sending us money from Central Bank of Hell Fire.

The question is; what have they done with the Sukuk bond?

Politics / China To Take Over Zambian International Airport For Debt Repayment Default by Mc4larin: 10:53am On Aug 15, 2020
Signing a contract with China is like, ascribing to the boiling frog effect; a fable describing a frog being boiled alive slowly. If you drop a frog suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if you put that same frog in a vessel of water and start heating the water gradually, it will adjust its body temperature accordingly until it reaches a stage beyond its capacity and dies foolishly.

It’s rather pathetic how China is re-colonizing Africa by appealing to the ignorance and selfish interests of our leaders. Today, the Chinese are offering mouthwatering deals to Africa, both in cash transactions and the outmoded or rather defunct barter trade which seem very attractive on the outlook but dangerous in reality.

The Zambian government contracted the Chinese, lazy-thought and glossed over details thinking they were granting consent to gernuine terms but the whole thing just morphed into modern day colonialism. China is now proposing to take over the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport should Zambia Government fail to pay back its huge foreign debt on time. The issue of whether Zambia posses the required economic muscle to repay that debt is in contention considering the amount involved. It’s typical of the Chinese strategy.

That moreover is not the only thing Zambian suffered from China; the Chinese own 60% shares of the Zambian National Broadcasting corporation which means, Chinese have an influence over what should or should not be premiered on their sets.

Ghana is equally towing same lane as our leaders have started signing contracts already; Chinese owned company, STARTIME is gradually gaining grounds over our major institutions, our biggest mining companies will soon be “taken” over by a Chinese company and many others. Now if this is not modern day slavery, what then is it? The 21stcentury African slave is never in chain; we are in debt caused by the ignorance or selfish interests of our leaders. Pathetic!

Politics / Gambari Repaid My Kindness With Treachery – Former UN Deputy Rep. by Mc4larin: 2:34pm On May 27, 2020
I know him quite well. I was the one who in 1981 brought him to the UN at his request as a member of the Nigerian delegation. He was then a senior lecturer at the ABU. In fact, the late Prof Audu, who was then Foreign Minister actually advised me against inviting him to the UN.

But he had strong academic credentials which impressed me. He had obtained his first degree in political science from the LSE, and a doctorate from Colombia University in New York. We were looking for strong delegates to the UN General Assembly and I considered him the kind of delegate we were looking for. So I invited him as one of our delegates to the UN General Assembly.

He was at the UN in New York with me. I gave him and his wife my city apartment which I was not using free for 3 months plus a car. I liked him and I was not seeking any favours from him. After 3 months he returned home and sent me a note thanking me for giving him the first opportunity to visit the UN as a delegate and giving him his first experience at multilateral diplomacy.

However, he sent President Shagari a secret and private note that while he was at the UN he observed that I had not been attending the meeting of Islamic states at the UN. President Shagari sent the note to Prof Audu who forwarded it to me in New York. He didn’t even ask me for any comments on Gambari’s secret memo as Prof Audu fully understood that Nigeria had traditionally not been attending meetings if the Islamic states as we were not then a member of the Group.

Gambari asked for a private meeting with President Shagari which Prof Audu advised against. I was shocked that someone I had helped so much turned round to betray me so blatantly. I did not tell him I knew about the secret letter he had sent to the UN. When Shagari was overthrown by Buhari Gambari became Foreign Minister.

When career ambassadors were being suddenly retired I was at first not on the list. But Gambari, now FM and Rafindadi, the head of the NSO who had worked under me in London, and was now head of the NSO worked together to secure my retirement. In fact, when I called him from New York to confirm from him news about my retirement he first denied it. Thereafter, he no longer took my calls.

In fact, I remained at my post in New York for another 3 months during which the MFA tried to reverse the decision to retire me. I had done absolutely nothing wrong in my entire career in the diplomatic service and only got into trouble for helping a young academic who turned against me to fulfil his own personal ambition.

Since then, he and I have only met twice in very difficult circumstances. First at a dinner by a mutual friend in New York several years after my retirement. He could barely look directly at me. He was clearly embarrassed. Then when Buhari won the elections in 2015 I headed a team that was set up to prepare a paper for him on our Foreign Policy.

Subsequently, Alhaji Joda asked him to join the team. Last year, he suddenly called me to ask if I would kindly represent him at a public lecture he had agreed to chair. I told him I could not and that he should look for someone younger. He immediately hung up on me.

Now, he may be the kind if person Buhari is looking for to succeed Abba Kyari as COS. They are very much alike but Gambari is more subtle and even more dangerous and will substitute the national interests for his own personal interests. I have no doubt about that.

What I have written in this long piece is just some of my personal experience and encounter with him. Everything I have written here is in my memoirs ‘Lest I Forget ‘which he has seen and read. It is nothing new.

But I think it important that the character of our top govt officials should be revealed and not covered up. We have, as a nation, paid dearly for supporting appointments to high office that are often detrimental to our nation. Enough is enough and this has to stop.

Politics / How FIRS Chairman Illegally Retired Directors To Employ Cronies In FIRS by Mc4larin: 10:00am On Apr 18, 2020
By Anayo Ezugwu

The staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, are not happy with recent retirement of directors and appointments in the service arbitrarily made by the executive chairman.

The lopsided appointments did not favour experienced staff within the system but contract staff contrary to laid down civil service rules and guidelines. The retirement of the directors also came when Nigerians are battling with how to curtail the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country and its attendant economic challenges. Muhammad Nami, executive chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, seized the distraction caused by the coronavirus to relieve the directors of their position and install his cronies in the service.

His action has rendered experienced staff of FIRS unemployed at this precarious time in the country when they could use their experience to boost revenue generation in the country instead of converting contract staff with no requisite experience to permanent staff without going through proper recruitment process.

Nami allegedly subverted the 2016 Federal Civil Services Rules and Guidelines enacted by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration in sacking directors who have not reached retirement age and appointing new directors in FIRS.

Realnews investigations showed that on March 24, the executive chairman retired all directors in the service that have served eight years and above to make way for his cronies. In an internal memo made available to Realnews, the executive chairman said the retirement was in line with Para 10: 1(a)(iii) of the Human Resource Programmes and Policy, HRPP, an internal Human Resources policy guiding the operations of FIRS.

“This is to formerly notify you that the board of the Federal Inland Revenue Service at its emergency meeting No.2 held on the 20th March, 2020, approved the retirement of all directors who have served eight years and above as directors in the service in line with Para 10: 1(a)(iii) of HRPP.

“We wish them well in their future endeavours. The board also gave its approval for the appointment of four coordinating directors in acting capacity and two group leads for a six months period,” he said.

Two days later, Nami released another memo where he announced the appointment of new directors. The memo on March 26, titled: ‘Addendum of Appointments by the FIRS Board stated that the appointment was made to support management towards meeting and surpassing its revenue targets. “This is to formerly notify you that the board of FIRS at its emergency meeting No. 2 held on March 20, 2020 also gave its approval for the appointments.”

But Realnews investigations revealed that some of the new directors appointed by the executive chairman like Ahmed Muhammed Musa, director, finance and accounts; Mustapha Ndajumo, special assistant technical to the executive chairman; Ahmed Ndannusa, director, internal affairs and efficiency; Abdulahi Ismaila, director, communication and liaison department and Aisha Hamza Mohammed, acting director, executive chairman’s office are not staff of FIRS. Investigations also showed that these new appointees are all from Nupe, Niger State, where Nami comes from.

Of note is that all the appointments contravened the same internal Human Resource Programmes and Policy of the FIRS which Nami relied on to retire the directors against the superior policy by President Buhari. For instance, section 2. 22 of the HRPP stated that “contract appointments shall only be made where the required skills and competence are not available within the service. The appointment must also be justified by relevant office or department making the request.”

Contrarily, Realnews gathered that for all the people Nami appointed, there are so many competent and skilled internal staff members to occupy the positions. None of the people so appointed possess any special skills that are not in abundance within the FIRS.

Apart from the allegation of cronyism in his appointments, Nami is also accused of abusing  the tenure policy of the federal civil service in retiring the FIRS directors. The tenure policy which previously made it compulsory for directors in the federal civil service to retire after eight years was reversed by President Buhari in 2016.

Consequently, Nami’s decision to retire the directors is against the directive of the president as stated in a circular from the office of the head of service of the federation on June 20, 2016, with reference number HCSF/428/S.1/139 that the tenure policy was been suspended by Buhari.

The circular signed by Winifred Oyo-Ita, former head of the Civil Service of the Federation, stated that: “With reference to letter No. SH/COS/100/A/1462 dated 17 June, 2016, I write to convey Mr. President’s directive that the tenure policy in the federal civil service is suspended with immediate effect. This notice is for the attention of all concerned for compliance.”

Apart from ignoring the presidential directive, the wrongfully retired directors have not reached the retirement age of 60 years or serve up to 35 years in the civil service. But they were forcefully retired by Nami in order to have his way.

Contacted, FIRS denied the allegations of wrongful retirement, saying the retirement was in the interest of the workers. Abdulahi Ismaila, director, Communication and Liaison Department, said there was no witch-hunting in the retirement process. He accused the administration of Babatunde Fowler, former executive chairman of FIRS of not promoting workers in the last five years.

“The position of the director is the highest position in the service as a civil servant and the longer they stay in office, the longer it affects those below them. This has been the case in the service and some of these directors have served for more than eight years and some more that 10 years.

“Even during the administration of the immediate past executive chairman of the service, promotion examinations were conducted and those that passed the exams were told that there was no vacant position for them to be promoted. But when Nami came, he decided to motivate the workers by promoting them and in doing that he has to retire directors that have served eight years and above. His actions are well-intended, to boost morale of staff, entrench fairness and create efficiency in the service,” he said.

On the allegation of bringing contract staff to replace the retired directors, Ismaila said those who replaced the directors were promoted from the service. He acknowledge that contract staff was brought in, but said they had been around before the retirement of the directors.

*Covid-19: Our Sin level has dropped*

If there was an instrument that can measure the Sin level on the earth today, a *Sinometer* (lol), I believe the guage will show a great drop in the sins of humanity. Or how do you explain;

1. That most brothels and clubs are shut at this time because of social distancing. Sexual immorality rate has thankfully, dropped

2. Nigerian Senators donating 50% of their salaries to fund Covid-19 account. Greed of our Senators have miraculously, dropped

3. Lockdown has forced Lagos and Abuja drivers to sit at home. Abuses on the steering, traffic offences, conductor and passenger fighting have all drastically, dropped

4. Husbands (and maybe wives too) are forced to sit at home with family. Marital infidelity has significantly, dropped

5. Lots of rich people and organisations are suddenly donating to Covid-19 account. Disregard to Corporate social Responsibility has openly dropped.

6. Because of the lockdown, our cars are forced to take some much needed rest globally, so our beloved earth too can rest. Carbon emission that has been hurting the earth has sweetly, dropped

7. Because of the fear of the lockdown, couples (most especially daddies) had to hurriedly drop money to stock the house. Financial irresponsibility in the home has thankfully, dropped

8. Since couples are now forced to stay at home, marital distancing has miraculously, dropped

9. Because we are now at home, office politics, antagonism and wickedness have sincerely, dropped

10. Before Covid-19, nations were preoccupied on how to attack each other, economically, militarily and politically. Now we are jointly attacking the common Covid-19 enemy. So multi-national wars have for now, unbelievably, dropped

11. The fear of Covid-19 has even forced terrorist groups globally to withdraw into their caves, as they monitor event of things too. Terrorist activities and killings have greatly, dropped

12. Even herdsmen are observing the sit at home order with their cows in the fields. News of herdsmen killings has suddenly, dropped

13. The lockdown has slowed down the human rat race of work, waking up early, pursuing things, keeping deadlines. So, Hustling, Stress level and BP issues have appreciably, dropped

14. Covid-19 hit advanced nations first, who had previously boasted in their technological, medical and scientific advancements. The pride of, we-are-untouchable by the developed countries have humbly, dropped.
15. Most of our pastors and other men of God, who had boasted on their divine powers to deal and conquer Covid 19 have all suddenly gone quiet.

16. On a lighter note, even witches and wizards have also obeyed the sit at home order, by pressing the pause button. Wickedness in high places have truly, dropped

These are some sins of the World that Covid-19 has thankfully helped us arrest. Let's drop our sins. Now we see we can indeed live better lives.

You can add to the list and let's continue living like this after the Covid-19 impasse is over...

Religion / How Church Of The Lord’s Primate Predicted Coronavirus Outbreak In 2019 by Mc4larin: 5:30pm On Feb 02, 2020
Babatunde Isaac

Following the outbreak of coronavirus in China, it was gathered that the Primate of the Church of the Lord (Prayer Fellowship) Worldwide, Most Rev Rufus Ositelu, had predicted the outbreak of the deadly disease at the Holy Mount Tabieorar in August 2019.

A member of the church, Reoa Anthony, had on January 30 posted a message on his Facebook page referring to a prophecy on the outbreak of coronavirus in China released in 2019.

Anthony said, “Divine Revelation to China from the Holy Mount Tabieorar, Ogere-Remo for the Year 2020, 18th August 2019: ‘The Lord says, this country will make new discoveries that will cause the glory of the country to be more manifested. The Lord says the secret of the ungodly and fraudsters will be exposed. And the Lord says we should pray against the outbreak of strange diseases in the country. Also, the Lord says, there shall be a breakthrough in the search for a cure.”

“The above divine revelation for China was revealed to the man of God during the Tabieorar Retreat in August 2019, and published in the same month of August 2019,” Anthony added.

Primate Ositelu, who shared the post on his own Facebook page, confirmed the prophecy.

“Let us pray to God to have mercy and not allow this coronavirus to become an outbreak of a pandemic disease around the world, and that God should grant the world the necessary breakthrough for a cure,”  Ositelu added.

Another member of the church, Adebayo Anthony Kehinde, on Facebook, confirmed the message as revealed by the man of God last year, saying, “The current outbreak in China was revealed at our last year Tabieorah festival and documented.”

In a January 29 ‘Open Letter to the President of Nigeria’, Primate Ositelu, who is fondly called the Aladura Patriarch, said, “Hundreds of Chinese left Nigeria for China to celebrate their annual festival –Lunar New Year– to return next week.

“At the moment, over 300,000 Chinese are already infected with coronavirus and over a hundred have died from the virus.

“The Federal Government should take serious precautions and preventive actions before we have an epidemic in Nigeria. Coronavirus in Nigeria will be a catastrophe. There is no cure for the disease as of today.

“Please, the FG should take necessary precautions to prevent the virus from entering Nigeria, and that includes checking all aircraft, especially those coming from Asia to Nigeria. God Bless Nigeria.”

The death toll from the new virus, which is officially called 2019-nCov, hit 259 on Saturday.

Almost 12,000 cases have been confirmed worldwide, with more than 11,800 of those in China. At least 26 other countries have reported cases, including three in Japan, two in the United Kingdom and two in Australia on Saturday.

Beijing has taken unprecedented measures to try to contain the virus, including placing millions of people in major cities on lockdown and extending the Lunar New Year holiday.

The United States and Australia close borders to Chinese arrivals

Countries around the world have closed their borders to arrivals from China, as officials work to control the rapid spread of the coronavirus.

Earlier, countries including Russia, Japan, Pakistan and Italy announced similar travel restrictions.

But global health officials have advised against such measures.

“Travel restrictions can cause more harm than good by hindering info-sharing, medical supply chains and harming economies,” the head of the World Health Organisation said on Friday.

The WHO recommended introducing screening at official border crossings. It has warned that closing borders could accelerate the spread of the virus, with travellers entering countries unofficially.

China has criticised the wave of travel restrictions, accusing foreign governments of ignoring official advice.

Speaking further at the church’s (Tabieorar) 83rd celebration held in Ogere Remo, Ogun State in 2019,

Ositelu had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to aggressively combat corruption and insecurity in Nigeria.

He also urged the President and the National Assembly to promote fiscal federalism and regional/zonal integration that would breed healthy competition among the component units of the federation.

The cleric said the church of God does not exist in a vacuum and, therefore, had the duty to speak truth to power at certain times, especially when there were serious issues calling for urgent attention of government at all levels.

According to a copy of the Primate’s address, which was made available to Adura International Magazine, he had charged the government to harness the human and natural resources the country was blessed with for the good of all through good governance.

The address partly read, “Corruption remains the monster that has eaten deep into the socio-economic and political fabric of our society. The need to combat it aggressively has become more imperative. If we can effectively fight corruption, over half of our challenges will be over.

“Government must not relent in its efforts so far as corruption will definitely try to fight back. All and sundry should be involved in the fight against corruption and perpetrators should be prosecuted and dealt with in accordance with the law.”

Speaking on the issue of peace and security, Ositelu said the disturbing state of security in the country despite all efforts had made it necessary for the government to review the security architecture of the country, stressing that the primary function of government all over the world is to protect the lives and property of its citizens.

Sports / Reports: World’s Third Richest Man Targets Lionel Messi Signing After Buying Ser by Mc4larin: 8:14am On Dec 06, 2019
The latest word around the rumour mill is that Bernard Arnault, the third richest man of the world, wants to buy Serie A giants AC Milan – and also sign Lionel Messi as their first-choice attacker.

This is according to Spanish news agency AS, who reports via GiveMeSport that Arnault, who oversees an empire of more than 60 brands including Louis Vuitton and Sephora, is worth $101.2 billion, making it quite possible for him to buy a football club like AC Milan.

According to the report, if Arnault ends up buying AC Milan, they would naturally become the richest club in the world as he apparently plans to invest heavily.

AS further reports that the billionaire is also targeting two high-priority arrivals – that of Barcelona legend Lionel Messi and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Messi will turn 33-years-old at the end of the ongoing 2019-20 season, but his recent Ballon d’Or 2019 win and his ongoing run of good form have reportedly caused Arnault to target him for the next summer, as per the Spanish publication.

As for Guardiola, AC Milan only appointed their current manager Stefano Pioli in October, but he hasn’t done too much so far to improve the Italian club’s position in the Serie A table – which is why he could lose his job if Guardiola agrees to leave City for them.

Health / Alabama Man Now First In The State To Become Sickle Cell Free by Mc4larin: 10:11am On Sep 20, 2019
SARALAND, Ala. (WPMI) -- There may be a potential sickle cell breakthrough for those who suffer with the disease.

A Mobile man is the first Alabamian to become sickle cell free through a clinical trial.

For two years, Lynndrick Holmes says he underwent a gene therapy treatment at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington, D.C.

According to NIH, the treatment involved taking stem cells from his bone marrow, fixing the gene that causes his cells to sickle and reinserting that gene using the H-I-V virus; minus the parts of the virus that cause infection. That last part of the process happens after patients undergo chemotherapy to prepare for the introduction of the new cells.

Holmes completed his therapy in March and he’s now sickle cell free. Researchers hope the therapy will become a cure.

Those who suffer with sickle cell anemia deal with intense pain when red blood cells become "sickle-shaped." They clog blood vessels and starve organs of oxygen.

Holmes says at first he was just surviving but now he’s living. "It feels amazing," he said. "I didn't know how bad it was living with sickle cell until I got cured. Once I got cured, I was like, 'I can't believe I was living like that and I was expected to live out the rest of my life like that.'"

Doctors say it takes about five years without complication to declare a patient “cured” of sickle cell.

According to the NIH, the trial has about 50 slots, most have been filled already. Two of those patients will undergo the therapy at University of Alabama at Birmingham.
