[s] Hrmkingobi: The Senior Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, has said that no ethnic group in Nigeria has the exclusive right to hold presidential office while also declaring that President Muhammadu Buhari will not fail Nigerians. The cleric said this on Sunday during his annual state of the nation address to commemorate the nation’s 59th independence anniversary. In his address titled ‘Resetting the nation on the path of predictable progress’, Pastor Bakare advised the adoption of a zonal security system which will scrap out the Nigeria Police Force and replace it with Zonal Police Force. He also asked that ethnic and mutual suspicion be kept away, that no ethnicity has the exclusivity to any political office. “No ethnic nationality has monopoly on any of the offices. “This is no time for mutual suspicion, there should be collaboration. “The infighting must stop. Nigeria is going through a resetting on the path of predictable progress. “It is time to rebuild and reset, and rebuilding has to be done zone by zone, ” he concluded.[https://www.365nobs.com/2019/10/buhari-will-not-fail-nigerians-pastor.html] [/s] |

[s] Misterdhee1: Over the past few months, we ve seen different political schemings all pointing to the much-awaited 2023 presidency race. There have been accusations of North planning to retain powers, while it's also known that SW is strongly interested in the position, interestingly from no other party other than APC. Given the fact that the SE is the only region of the three major regions in the country that hasn't been in the position before, it's only wise to expect them to give the 2023 race a shot. And given that SE has been the most loyal region to pdp since the turn of democracy, it's not out of place to expect the party to reward the region by zoning the 2023 presidency ticket to the zone.
So my question is - Why can't South East Request for PDP's 2023 presidential ticket? [/s] |

Politics › Re: The Superiority Of The Western Region In 1969 As Published By NY Times by meccuno: 12:07pm On Oct 07, 2019 |
[s] LegendHero: I stumbled upon the archive of the New York Times in October 18th 1959 on the eve of the election battle preceding the independence. The article clearly shows the genesis of the problem of Nigeria and how the Igbos and North both ganged up against the Yorubas because of their hatred for the success of the Western region.
Excerpts from the paper shows the Western Region is the most developed and richest region in Nigeria pre-1960, and it also capture succinctly what I have been saying that the Yorubas will be far better off with our Oduduwa Republic than remaining in this Nigeria that is pulling us down.
Below are the quotes from the Times newspaper:
The conservative North, 75 percent Muslim and containing about half of Nigeria's population, is governed by the Northern people's congress. The premier is Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, who carries the title of Saraduana of Sokoto.
In the East, where the intelligent, energetic Ibo tribes predominates the controlling party is the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, headed by one of the most dazzling of Nigerian politicians, Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, premier of the Eastern region, who is known throughout the country as Zik.
In the somewhat more developed west, which is Yoruba Country, the government is run quite well, it is said by Chief Awolowo, an able politician, and his Action group. The West points with pride to its universal free primary education, free medical treatment for children up to 18years of age, agricultural planning and other social programs of which no other Nigerian region can boast of.
On the Hatred of the Yorubas by Azikwe and Balewa: The Federal government whose prime minister is Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, a muslim notable from the north, is managed by a coalition of the Northern people congress and National council of the Nigeria and the Cameroonians, two parties that have very little in common except mutual dislike of the third (Awolowo).
Anytime the Igbos accuse Yorubas of being betrayals, you should direct them to this factual statement of their eternal betrayal of the Yorubas by being slaves to the North and being a coward to conspire with the north to hate Awolowo who would have made this Nigeria a great country.

When the election of Orji Uzor Kalu was annulled at the tribunal, what was your reaction?
When the election was announced, I knew that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Mao Ohuabunwa will go to court. I was in the collation room during the election, I spoke with him and I knew he was heading to court. After the March election, I have not spoken with Orji Kalu and have not been to Abuja. But I knew that a court process is on and anything can happen. However, that does not remove the fact that the APC in Abia north is strong. We knew there will be a court ruling; we knew we have a legitimate victory that will stand the test of all the challenges. At the end of it, the APC will triumph because we were in the field and we can tell you what happened in the field. If at the appeal court and we still have to go for a re-run, Kalu will trash Ohuabunwa even with wider margin.
What gives you that confidence?
What gives me confidence is that before the election, we were having trouble in the camp of Orji Uzor Kalu. We had trouble in some of the local governments that formed Abia North. Abia North has five local governments. They are Umunneochi, Isikwuato, Bende, Ohafia and Arochukwu. During election Orji will have Bende, Ohafia and Arochukwu LGAs. But Isikwuato and Umuneochi often be a battle ground. But this time around it was different. In Isikwuato, for instance we have the Minister of State, Mine and Steel Development Uchechukwu Ogar well prepared to deliver for the APC. I believe a million times over the people will support the APC. At Umuneochi, the APC will lead comfortably because we have politically influential people there. Orji with his strength and popularity will get hold of the place. Coming down to Bende, the place of Kalu, he always rules in the area like a colossus. In Ohafia, where I come from and many others, we will deliver to the APC and that is a fact. At Arochukwu, Kalu had never lost any election in the area, so we don’t have any fear, should there be a re-run. That is the basis of my confidence and if there is a re-run ten times over Orji will still win the election. If at the Appeal the court upturns the judgment of the tribunal fine. But if is otherwise, I want to say Kalu will win Abia North any time any day. He can even stand as an independent candidate in any election and win. He is a cult hero in Abia North and there is nobody to contest it with him.
Some people have raised concern that Abia government is not living up to expectation. Are you worried?
I have met governor Ikpeazu several times and in our meetings I have been very opened to him. I have always told him that this is an opportunity to stamp his legs on the sands of time. The Ngwa nation or clan has been clamouring for an opportunity to produce the governor of Abia State. He is the lucky one that has occupied the position. If he allows the eight years to go and there is nothing to write about him, then history will adjudge him bad. Ikpeazu should put his house together and make sure he delivers good governance in Abia and that is our prayer. Let him use his tongue to count his teeth, whether he is doing well or not. Like they say, the taste of the food is in the eating. The people of Abia State that I meet are not happy with the performance of government. So, I will just advise him to use the chance he has to justify the clamour of the Ngwa people.
The government owed its workers close to one year salaries now…
I am an employer of labour, I know how painful it is if you don’t pay your workers. The biggest problem of some of the people in government is mediocrity. We have people who are not properly nurtured in the art of leadership and they are in very high position. I think it is evil for someone to work for you for 30 days and you refuse to pay that person. How do you expect that person to feed his family? I don’t see a governor that will sleep well, if he refuses to pay salary.
Do you think the APC can make things better, if they have the chance in 2023?
We are not happy that the governor is not paying salaries; there are many issues in Abia that one could campaign about including prompt payment of salaries. If the government is not paying salaries, it is an act of evil punishable by God and it is not proper. So, every pressure on PDP in Abia is an opportunity for us in the APC to produce the next governor.
Is the Southeast prepared for the Presidency?
The Presidency is still a long way to go. But the race to occupy the position of the President started immediately after the last election. The emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will define the way in 2023. But being that as it may, I believe at the moment, the Southeast is not politically strong enough to produce the President in 2023. And that is my honest disposition. Some people may criticize this, saying what is this Ibo man saying? But as a politician and someone that has come of age, I know that we need a strong political party structure and national outreach. You need other factors like finance and others to get to that exalted office. You need enough handshakes across the regions. The Yoruba are better positioned than the Igbo. If you look at the government of today, I will say the Yoruba are controlling more than 40 per cent in the structure of governance, where you have a Vice President that is from the Southwest. You have a speaker of the House of Representatives that is from the Southwest. Out of the four high offices, they have two from the same zone. Even the north does not have it that way because the President is from the Northwest and the Senate President is from Northeast. In the north, the portfolio is divided among the zones in the north. In the south, a lot of power is concentrated in the Southwest because of the judgment of my political party the APC. Simply, what you give is what you get. That is if you give much, you will also get much in return. That is what the Southwest is enjoying. Now, how do you place the Southeast in this calculation? They are nowhere to be found. The highest position the Southeast is occupying, is at the National Assembly. That is the Chief whip, a party position and not a national position. The Chief Whip of the Senate represents mainly the APC senators. It does not have overwhelming control of the PDP senators. The occupant can only negotiate, so the Southeast is nowhere to be found in this equation at the moment. So, for the Southeast to jump the bottle neck, to emerge in 2023, it will be difficult. The PDP can still rely on the north. They know that if they break from the north and give the Presidential candidate to another zone, PDP will problem. So in 2023, PDP will still go back to zoning its Presidential candidate to the north. But for the APC, the fight is between the North and the Southwest for the President.
What is your view on the present cabinet of Buhari?
I do not have confidence in the present composition. And when I compare that of Lagos State to the Federal Government I think, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is better. There is no gap in Lagos cabinet. You can see technocrats and when you put this side by side with the Federal Government, the federal cabinet is like a compensatory cabinet. People who can make things happen are not fully involved. This is why I say I do not expect much from the Federal Government.

Disregard for the law, such as you show here, will never get you far in the eyes of the international community. You can say others 'steal your oil' only when Nigeria is no longer existing and there is no constitution in place that stipulates everything of worth inside the border of Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians.
Nigeria even give you oil producing States 13% derivative your drunkard leaders squander yet it is North and SW alone you apologists wish to face for your lack of development. Nigeria is brewing and I can 100% assure that it is you SS folks, and the SE you have chosen to support blindly, who will be on the losing end. You harp on about ND oil developing the region. What did your own leaders, fathers, Uncles et al do when they controlled the NDDC (Niger Delta Development Commission) aside loot the money meant for your development? Yet you would rather call the North and SW 'thieves' of your oil without realising charity begins at home and without accepting the problem is with you and your folks and not Yorubas or Hausa/Fulani.
What more concessions do your leaders need to secure development for the SS? 13% derivation not fair? NDDC and large budgets for development of the SS that never gains the desired result, because it is always looted by your own people like Deizani and Orubebe, is the fault of Yorubas and Hausa/Fulani ba?
We all know Igbos never look at what they do wrong when they shout all others are to blame for their woes. Is it not how Kanu contemptuously broke all his bail condition only for Igbos to shout 'tyranny' when Python came twerking? Commit a crime and the police should offer you flowers rather than arrest you ba? Only in the delusional mind of an Igbo man. Politics › Re: Lanre Razak: Tinubu Qualified To Succeed Buhari In 2023 by meccuno: 12:01pm On Oct 07, 2019 |
[s] chidima2019: Lanre Razak, a chiefain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and close ally of the party’s national leader, Bola Tinubu, has said that he(Tinubu) is ‘eminently’ qualified to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Speaking on speculations that Tinubu is interested in contesting for the presidency in 2023, Razak said the national leader of the APC played a pivotal role in ensuring the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and has helped stabilise democracy.
He then appealed to the national body of the party to maintain zoning by ensuring that the presidency is zoned to the South in 2023.
“Nigerians do not need to look far to know that the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, is the man that the presidential cap fits for the next election. He is eminently qualified to succeed President, Muhammadu Buhari and build on the foundation the latter is currently building.
“ Tinubu is an achiever and his democratic credentials, vis a vis his leading role in forming a coalition that shoved aside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) misrule has made it crystal clear that, with him in the saddle in 2023, Nigeria would be better for it,” Razak said.
On speculations that Buhari may seek a third term, Razak said the president is “too principled to fall for such booby traps from professional sycophants,” exuding confidence that, “he will vacate the seat in conformity with the constitutional provision.”
On the performance of Governor Sanwo-olu of Lagos, Razaq, said: “With the way the governor has started, it is crystal clear that peoples’ support is required to partake in this all inclusive government for the good of all of us. He is on the right path and is performing well."

[s] panigbo: As most of my fellow Igbo brothers/sisters have written on this platform, and many other platforms, for us to achieve our true potential, we need to be free from the leadership method of Nigeria. As most of my concerned Igbo brothers/sisters have pointed out, everything is totally against us.
As traders we don't have access to the world via sea or air without going through another man’s land, which exposes us to all types of extortion and abuse. We can't carry out big ticket investment like rail-lines, sea/river port or even refine our abundant resources like coal, natural gas, crude oil, palm oil and so on, without dealing with the unfavorable federal government. There is almost ZERO foreign direct investment(FDI) in the entire IGBOLAND. All these and more can be traced to the inequality and laws put to set us backwards.
My Big Brother, Nnamdi Kalu noticed that for us to achieve our true potential and be free, we have to secede from Nigeria with our south south(S/S) brothers. I feel most Igbos’ look at the average non-Igbo speaking S/S as his/her fellow brother/sister but that's not the case for them. I can categorically tell you that they feel the opposite, you hardly see a non-Igbo S/S clamoring for Biafra regardless that they have been more exploited and abused than we the Igbos. At the peak of IPOB movement, when Nnamdi Kalu was released on bail a very popular non-Igbo S/S guy asked his fellow country men on facebook if they would like to join Biafra. To my greatest surprise over 85% of them said NO, some even commented that they prefer to be in Nigeria or form their own country without the Igbos. From my further research and investigation, these people only claim united when it favors them - like Goodluck Jonathan election but hate us as much as others do. I asked umu-igbo when have you ever seen a non-Igbo S/S fighting for our right or progress? The relationship is a one-way relation - we are always giving without receiving.
I submit to you today, Nnamdi Kalu style of Biafra is not sustainable. If we want to be free we have to do it alone, we have what it takes to be independent. Based on international law, we have access to the sea. Switzerland is a landlocked nation that is way far from the sea but have a stable economy with even river ports. Rwanda is worse with no access to the sea but its the fastest growing economy is sub-saharan Africa. We have no excuse why we can’t pull out of this toxic relationship.
Granted, there is a huge brain drain in Nigeria but what is worse is the level of brain drain happening in the Igboland. Our very best is leaving Igboland daily to other parts of Nigeria because there is no hope, we lack federal investment in Igboland that would be an incentive to stay back and grow.
I ask:
Do you know if we Igbos leave today we would still be among the top 10 most populous countries in Africa? Do you know Igboland would be among the top 10 richest countries in Africa? Do you know Igboland produces more crude oil than Ghana? Do you know that coal from Enugu can power the whole of West Africa for over 100yrs? Do you know we have one of the biggest natural gas deposits in the world? Do you know that countries that never knew what palm oil was, until we showed them now run their economy solely on palm oil production? Do you know that if Igboland is granted independent we would be the true PAN AFRICAN NATION that has an indigenious language as its official language?
My people let us look inward and fight for our freedom, instead of worrying about who would join us.
I’ve based in America for about 20yrs, there is no incentive for me apart from freeing my people and seeing we achieve what God destined for us. A small united house is far better than a big divided house. We can do it… let's do it. [/s] |

BuhariAdvocate: Perish the idea. And you think by showing us pictures of kids would make people rescind their decisions? some times i feel most of you dudes who fan this dont really have sense. Now let me even explain to you what it does. who give the IPOB you hate a tool called propaganda that fuels a future conflict. We are not having the best of times and you foolishly bring this picture to stir up wounds that people are trying hard to forget. That conflict you are wishing for will not exclude any tribe so use your brain. Every tribe has a right to choose who they want to form a country with. you dont impose your own will or ideology on any one. Any Igbo man who looks at this feels anger and you are even pushing most liberals to the side of the IPOB. i dont really blame people like you. you do things without having deep reflections about what effects your actions would cause. Having said that, this nation must realise that Igbos have more than paid for their foolishness. They have been defeated in war, rendered paupers by monetary policy fiat, their properties declared abandoned and confiscated, kept out of strategic public sector appointments and deprived of public services. The rest of the country forced them to remain in Nigeria and has continued to deny them equity. The Northern Bourgeoisie and the Yoruba Bourgeoisie have conspired to keep the Igbo out of the scheme of things. In the recent transition when the Igbo solidly supported the PDP in the hope of an Ekwueme presidency, the North and South-West treated this as a Biafra agenda. Every rule set for the primaries, every gentleman´s agreement was set aside to ensure that Obasanjo, not Ekwueme emerged as the candidate. Things went as far as getting the Federal Government to hurriedly gazette a pardon. Now, with this government, the marginalistion of the Igbo is more complete than ever before. The Igbos have taken all these quietly because, they reason, they brought it upon themselves. But the nation is sitting on a time-bomb. After the First World War, the victors treated Germany with the same contempt Nigeria is treating Igbos. Two decades later, there was a Second World War, far costlier than the first. Germany was again defeated, but this time, they won a more honourable peace. Our present political leaders have no sense of History. There is a new Igbo man, who was not born in 1966 and neither knows nor cares about Nzeogwu and Ojukwu. There are Igbo men on the street who were never Biafrans. They were born Nigerians, are Nigerians, but suffer because of actions of earlier generations. They will soon decide that it is better to fight their own war, and may be find an honourable peace, than to remain in this contemptible state in perpetuity. The Northern Bourgeoisie and the Yoruba Bourgeoisie have exacted their pound of flesh from the Igbos. For one Sardauna, one Tafawa Balewa, one Akintola and one Okotie-Eboh, hundreds of thousands have died and suffered. If this issue is not addressed immediately, no conference will solve Nigeria´s problems. By Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. |
Politics › Re: Nigeria Will Not Break Up, Yoruba Will Get 2023 Presidency’ by meccuno: 5:11pm On Oct 06, 2019 |
[s] Montracine: An Abeokuta based cleric, Dr Olayiwola Samson Mercy says it’s the turn of Southwest to produce President in 2023 despite the power struggle from other geo – political zones. Olayiwola, however, told Yoruba leaders that it requires a fierce battle to achieve power shift, saying the north “is ready to cling to the power beyond 2023.”
The Clergyman who is the General Overseer of the Christ Divine Churches International spoke in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday during the church’s anniversary.
He equally ruled out Nigeria’s breakup, saying the country would remain united despite the call for secession in some part of the country. Olayiwola while urging the countrymen to always remain peaceful and united, said “Under President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria has been moving forward. And I can testify.” Speaking on the struggle for Buhari’s successor, the clergyman said “In 2023, power will return to Southwest because it’s Yorubas’ turn. Like you know, an average northern wants to stay in power. And may I say this, in 2023, we have to force power out of the north because they are not ready to quit the stage for other zones. “But, I want you to be rest assured that Nigeria will not break up. We will definitely have crises and we will resolve it. Do you think a politician who just emerged as governor in Imo State would be part of moves for Nigeria’s break up? If you hear some people calling for war or kidnapping everywhere, the political class are behind it and it’s all about 2023.”
Olayiwola also expressed confidence that Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo would survive his ongoing travails, believed to be part of power play ahead of 2023.

I can clearly see the stance of this Legend Hero guy. I even assumed he was a bit sensible. From his write up the Igbos are the problems and the Yorubas can stay alone. But from that logic, the Yorubas and the North have been the ones rulling since after the civil war so how does the Igbos factor in? Are you saying a combined leadership of the North and Yorubas have brought nothing but mediocrity? Yorubas can stay alone but since after Independence you don't hear them talk about their oduduwa. This Legend Hero is just trying to create a false narrative. And it won't work. It all the problems were from the Igbos, the sensible thing is for them to support division and let's see how far. |
